Suzy, time will tell. I have a seat right next to where I usually stand when I am writing on the overhead. I put my questionable students right in that seat.

Suzy, we only have smart boards in about 9 classrooms. I have to use an overhead. Good thing about social studies, there are lots of videos I can show. Now I have to sign out a vcr and hook it up to my tv.

Suzy, the letter to Canadians from Jack Layton was a beautifully written letter prepared by him just days before his death. However, his party is just a little too socialist for my liking.

Took the grandies to karate after supper. Got lots of ffuts to do now, but my energy has disappeared. Hubby is working the next 3 nights, so here I sit talking to the cats. Oh no, they're starting to talk back ....

June, try putting a flat cushion on your seat...when I first started pootering, it was killing my back and shoulders etc, so I put the cushion on it to raise me up a little and it helped me no end.
I am pleased you have given up the publicity job, you really need to focus on YOU for a while xoxo

Checking in before going to bed here. Cardiologist has another bunchof tests he wants done. Blood work to check thyroid, cause my heart rate is up and thyroid is the first place to look. then a stress test, gee, this will be my third, now many will it take to convince the docs I do not have a problem? Echo cardiogram, and a carotid Doppler exam. All to be done in their office on Thursday. I am keeping the road hot with tests.

Friend changed tire today, was going to look at the problem it has sometimes not cranking, but battery was down. He put it on the charger, not sure when he can come back, Sunday and Monday are his off days.

Theresa, a lovely letter you posted, thanks for sharing.

Suzy, Tami, what are smart boards?

Suzy, love the "If at first you do not succeed" quote, funny.

Tami, good you have that first day behind you. Hope the whole year goes smoothly for you.

There were other posts on previous page I ment to comment on, but have forgotten what I wanted to say. Jumping back to check would loose this post, so perhaps I should just hit Submit.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

June so sorry you were not sleeping in the wee hours, and I do hope you got back to sleep. You must take care of you, dear.

Rolanda, I do hope this interested person makes an offer, a good offer on your house.

Viv, hope you enjoy the Avon Banquet. Sorry that doc has not got around to his paper work. Not nice leaving you hurting and with no answers. It would not be nice to wish unresolved back pain on him, would it??

Suzy, thanks for the wish, the internet did stay up all day today. I just was not here so much today.

I do not think I mentioned that I like this cardiologist. I was concerned at his foreign name. I have a hearing problem, and some people with English as a second language are difficult for me to understand. this young man has Indian ancestry, but perfect English. He is very kind, very thorough, was on time, I did not have to wait, he explained everything and asked my opinion on what he planned to do. My kind of doctor. He even laughed when I said I had never heard of a heart attack being cured with a dose of antacid, which is what happened after my "chest pain" , the mention of which got me sent to cardiologist.

Greetings, Friends! I am reading page 188, so am still far behind any current news.

Hooray! We are finally back home - and back to catching up on all the things that were put off as the wedding approached. (In the day after D#1, SIL, grandies & the nanny left, we did about 6 loads of laundry, including for the newlyweds to use when they stayed overnight when they returned from their honeymoon. Of course, by then we had followed D#1, etc. to their home, as their nanny went home to Germany for about 2 weeks and we were the "substitute nanny." Now, much to do about the house and for our club!

Heidi, I hope the family that were in the airplane crash are all improving!

Mama, I hope Jazz is back to his frisky self!

Our kitty (nearly 17 years young) kept crying, but wouldn't come out of hiding until we moved the furniture. This happened several times, and she seems to have some difficulties breathing comfortably. Her arthritis is also acting up. I have brushed her, massaged her, reminded her soothingly that we're back home, but she seems uncomfortable and clingy. We'll see how things are tomorrow, but know she's several months late for her yearly vet visit.

Sending lots of warm {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, prayers and for all!

I put a cushion on the chair but have now removed it and it is better without. I did go back and got some sleep. Another funeral today. I was OK until he started the sermon on death.
Viv, try doing some simple pelvic muscle exercises. Over time they do help the support of your back. About 4 years ago I was sleeping in the recliner as I could not get up if I lay down on the bed.
I hope they sort out your problems Tricia with all those tests.

Morning all. Coffee is ready for who ever wants a cup.
Tricia, a smart board is an interactive white board. It is hooked up to a computer and whatever you do/show on the pooter is projected on the board. The board comes with a special pen and works as a giant computer screen. Teacher, or student, can do work on the board as if they are using a computer. It is really cool to work with.

Hi Tami. Going to bed here shortly.
Have just been rummaging in my cupboard looking for a handbag to go with what I am wearing to the Avon do tomorrow.
You would think I would have something, I have quiet a collection of handbags. lol
Found a little gold one that will have to do.
Have had the hair coloured and the foils in.
Hopefully I can take some pics to put on my page.

Morning friends. Thank you Tami for the coffee. Are you keeping a weather eye open? Irene is strengthening, and it looks like it will make a USA landfall somewhere between Miami and North Carolina. . Just where that will be is still up in the air! Do you have a hurricane plan? And a place to go if they recommend evacuations?

June, I am sure a funeral so soon after Sharon's was not easy for you. It took some courage for you to go. I do not think I could have attended another so soon after Mom's. Glad you got back to sleep, you do need to keep up your strength.

Viv, a little gold purse will go with most anything, I am sure it will be just fine.

Tami, thanks for the explanation of the smart board. sounds really high tech. No more blackboard and chalk in schools it seems.

Hi Rolanda, bye Rolanda, you must be very busy if that is all you have time for

Julie, hope your kitty is soon recovered from whatever. Don't you wish they could talk, tell us what is bothering them??

Well, I did the sloshy thing this morning. I had just done a load on Saturday, cannot believe there were still so many to hsaw. Saturday was the light load, today was the dark, and it seems I had not washed in some time to have that many shirts and pants for me. They are hanging out in already hot weather, humidity not too bad.

Heidi, hope you feel better today, and more talkative. We miss you when you are absent.

Hugs to each of you, with extras. Till later.

Good MORNING, Everyone! So sorry for yelling, but can't remember the last time I was here before early evening.

I am currently reading page 192 - have kind of skimmed through some pages to get closer to current news.

MizT, I hope all of the tests are done well and show nothing of consequence! At least you finally have someone listening to you!

Hmm, Gail, I wondered about V Viv's comment about "gf." Was hoping it was a typo. Reading further, I saw Viv's explanation. Yes, Viv, we can certainly understand!

Vicki, Happy Birthday to James! I hope he had a wonderful day. Obviously, he had a couple of great meals.

June, what a shame that you couldn't join Ken on his Manila trip! A few extra days there would have been perfect for you!

It's nearly time to start thinking about lunch. Also need to finish unpacking, as we only got to 1 suitcase last night before crashing. Lots to do today, but just had to get here to say hello to everyone! I plan to be back later!

Enjoy your morning, afternoon, evening, or night, Everyone! {{{HUGS}}}

Since it was asked.... There's good news about the friends who were in the airplane crash. The little boy has been released from the hospital and is staying with his grandparents. He suffered a broken arm and jaw. His mother is out of her coma and is now walking at the hospital. I don't know the extent of her injuries, but there were all sorts of breaks and internal injuries. Her husband (the pilot) is still in critical condition, but they're saying he WILL be OK. I haven't heard a recent update in the last 3 days.

Theresa, although the news stories do not say it was felt in Alabama, I felt it. I asked hubby what was making the house shake, and he asked if I had anything in the washer. This mobile home is more apt to move than a house on traditional foundation. Second one I have felt, this one epicenter in Virginia, earlier one was epicenter in the Florida gulf a few years ago. It was very mild here, just a couple of slight shakes.

Heidi, are were closer to it than I am, did you feel it?

Afternoon all.
Tricia, I do have a hurricane plan in place. Put up the shutters and stay inside. It looks like we got lucky. It is now supposed to make landfall much further north, looks like Carolinas up to New York some where. We are no longer even in the cone of concern.

Heidi, that is good news about your friends. Good wishes still going out for a complete recovery.

When was the quake? I've been outside almost all day, fooling with cows and moving a LOT of hay. Since I was in the tractor driving across bumpy ground, the chances were slim that I'd feel it.

Morning all,
I've got too many pages open trying to read more about the quake so everything is reeaaaalllly slow. So far I got that it was not so big, but very shallow so was felt over a very large area.

Julie, here before lunch!! Sounds like your life might be returning to normal. Yay!

Heidi, so glad to hear the family is doing well, though their injuries were not minor and they have a long long way to go. How about you? How are you going? Is your back any better?

Viv, I look forward to seeing a pic of your hair!

Nola, good to see you drop in!! Did they ever finalise your paperwork? How is everything going over your way?

June, I've always said that when you go to a funeral you are actually going to every funeral you've ever been to because you think of them all when you are there. I'm sure yesterday was really tough for you and I'm sending huge hugs your way!

Okay, forgot to submit before I gnuh the clothes on the line...

Julie, I hope your kitty starts to feel better when she realises you are home now and are not going to disappear any time soon..

Tami, between smart boards and lap tops the whole way of teaching is changing. The problem is that I haven't been trained in the smart boards so am limited as to how well I can use them. And those blasted lap tops are a pain in the butt! The main thing kids are learning from them are how to change their background picture and how to access their music files! I also had a year 10 class with not one single student in the class bringing their laptop/notebook to school. Who knows what they've done with them!

Yesterday hubby had a 'fun' experience. He had to go out to investigate a water complaint. He was given the address, but couldn't find it on the GPS. He called for directions, but still stopped at the wrong house, but was sent in the right direction. He got down to the house, it's kind of down, it's on the top of a hill but you drive down to it, and realised he had been there many times before. One of our friends used to live there! The woman started talking about how she'd painted over the awful colour scheme etc. She was really running down our friend, who has an amazing sense of colour and whose house was enviable!. Until hubby said, I lost count of the number of parties I came to here. She shut up then.

He went back to the office and was called up to talk to a customer. That customer told him how much she loved the Irish accent. Hubby said, I do too, but I'm American. Apparently it happens all the time!

Alie seems to be on the mend. When she was off school on Monday her music class was given the task of writing a song using only 4 chords to perform on Wednesday. She of course found out on Tuesday. No problem really as she wrote 2 last week! I love the way they sound, but I can't get past the awful grammar, I'll tell you the offender when I remember it! Something appealing...

Her music class does not follow the curriculum. They are too advanced. They have to do the assessment tasks etc, but the whole class gets 100% and finishes in 10 minutes. Instead they have to learn a song first period and perform it in the second period. Imagine a whole class of kids that talented and creative!!! It must be incredible to be a part of.
