Suzy, if you're talking about my weather, we might feel the outer effects of Irene tomorrow, but our eastern provinces will be hit harder.

Theresa - it seems you have a lot to deal with. Try not to stress yourself, not good for your heart and take each day as it comes. Wish we could all help you.

The cracking in my daughter's hip has gotten worse ... the surgeon has decided to go for a full hip replacement ... waiting time 2 or 3 months. Not good for someone as young as her to go through this, but surgeon feels there is no choice. I cannot help her this time like I did before, it's just not physically possible for me any more.

Theresa.... try not to look at the whole picture... just take each day as it comes... one day at a time. Looking at the big picture can be overwhelming. Just think to yourself that you can do it today.

The parade is the second Saturday in October. It's the community's Lincoln Days celebration. It used to be around his actual birthday (Feb. 12th, but the weather was always horrid then, so it's 4 months earlier. I'll be driving Challenger with my surrey, which holds 4 people comfortably, and 5 if they aren't too fat. We'll be decorating it up with Lion's Club colors and emblems, and the officers for our Lion's Club will ride in it.

Theresa, sending you big hugs. Keep coming in here. We will do our best to lift your spirits.

Heidi, the parade sounds like fun.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Mamacita. News is reporting millions without power, 2 million just in Virginia. I don't know if the worst has gotten to Mama's area yet.

I talked to a friend in New Jersey. They're starting to evacuate the areas closest to the coast.

I'll be picking up the new rescue girl tomorrow.

Well I really should go back and check after I post that nobody posted since I last refreshed.

Theresa, you can do it! You did it before, proving you can do it again!! It's never the right time to quit smoking and if it wasn't this, it would be something else. You don't want to have to go through these last 3 weeks again!! I hope your grandies are a little less difficult this time... and I hope their mother and father have laid down the law...

I just found out that I'll be getting 2 collies tomorrow! The second one is a 9 year old who has been up for adoption for a year with no interest.

I think because Suzy is a smoker, she knows how hard thw next months will be for me. I am still determined to not smoke, although I have to say that right now I could really use one. Like Suzy said though, I don't want to have to go through the last 27 days over again.

I am afraid that I will not be able to help my daughter with a lot of the stuff, like just helping her get off the recliner, getting her off the couch where she will be sleeping again, etc. I will have to talk to the cardiologist to see exactly what I can and can't do. I know that for a while after the procedure in Sept I am not supposed to lift more than 10 pounds, but that's because of the injection site and the fear of bleeding. I am also not supposed to over-exert myself before the procedure, but what about after? So many questions - I am starting a list because I won't remember anything when I see him.

Well, I think I'll hit the hay as it were. I feel like I've had the wind knocked out of my sails today. Hopefully by the light of day I'll be more optimistic. Sigh .....

Theresa.... am I wrong about thinking that the recovery time for a hip replacement is shorter than for the last surgery she went through? Or am I confused as usual?

Okay, still not sleeping. You are right, Heidi, or at least I believe that's what my daughter was told. I have to talk to my daughter to find out more, but she was not wanting to talk about it yet. She also didn't want me to tell anyone yet, so please don't mention it on FB.

Hope Mama will be okay.

Theresa, my mother has had 2 hip replacements, and apart from not being able to sit on a regular toilet or in a bath she was very independent very quickly. Of course she didn't have 2 young kids to feed or pick up after or make sure they had clothes for school. I don't remember ever helping her out of a chair. I would recommend following all the no bending instructions and doing all of the strengthening exercises because once you dislocate the chances of it happening again increase. The good news if she does dislocateis that once it is back in place the pain stops immediately! At least that's what my mother says. She says to the doctors, why are you making me wait for an xray, we all know what is wrong? She has astounded doctors by walking to the toilet 5 minutes after they put her back together, before the 2nd xray to say it is where it is supposed to be. The first hip replacement dislocates, she has had no problems at all with the second.

, Everyone! I hope all is well in your neck of the woods, wherever you may be! I hope no one has suffered adverse effects from a visit by Irene!

Rolanda, the family birthday party sounds yummy! I hope everyone enjoyed! Happy Birthday to the celebrants!

MizT, what a great way to pass time - a pineapple mango smoothie and watching a man and dog playing!

Heidi, I'm glad you had a pleasurable ride - and hope all will go well in the parade!

Theresa, hang in there, Sweetie! You can do it! Hopefully you will soon reach a place where it becomes easier!

Wow, Heidi, 2 newcomers!

Theresa, I hope the full hip replacement does the trick for your daughter! You will do what you are able to do to help her out. Beyond that, she may need to get some extra help. OR, maybe she won't need as much as you anticipate!

I'm dragging here, really need to get to bed. Though I haven't mentioned everyone, I have certainly been thinking of all of you! Sending much , {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts and prayers for everyone! Good Night!

Morning all. Coffee is ready for who ever needs a cup. I am watching the news from the north and they are getting slammed. It is a cat 1 but with a lot of rain. It is going to be one big mess to clean up. Won't even attempt to call my nephew in NY. I will wait to hear from my SIL.

I don't see any of my topside friends. Hope all is well with everyone. I am enjoying a quiet Sunday morning. All three boys are at softball practice and I have no papers to grade. I am still in my pajamas and enjoying my morning coffee and playing on the pooter. I will soon do so krow. Bought a new wallet yesterday and have to switch everything. That is the hardest thing I have planned for the day.

Hi Tami. I'm not a morning person, and sleep in as often as I can.
I have some chores to do before leaving to pick up the girls in 2 1/2 hours. I'll let you all know as soon as they're here and settled in.

Theresa, how would your daughter cope if you were not next door? That is how she will have to cope with you with heart problems. Also the girls are now just that little bit older. Hang in there and think positive!

Tami, I slept in today also. I am here with my first cup of coffee, waiting for my roll ro heat in toaster. Simple breakfast this morning.

I am waiting to hear from daughter in CT. They were as prepared as could be. They are near the coast of Long Island Sound and are high enough to not be forced to evacuate because of coastal flooding.

I do wish they had bought a generator. Being without electricity will be worse for them than most. My autistic grandson does well if his schedule is maintained, but part of his rewards for staying on schedule is to watch videos. He is getting older, and much larger and he is hard to handle in a meltdown now, as he has to be physically restrained to prevent injury to himself and others. I do hope his big brother is home to help. they do have the option to go to his married sister's, who is miles/hours inland, if things get bad for them, but so many in a small appartment would also be difficult. I do hope they are not without electricity for long.

Heard from my cousin on Long Island, NY. They are all fine but do not have power. Both of her daughters lost trees in their front yard but no damage to house/car. Hubby spoke with a friend who has family on Long Island. Both cars destroyed by falling trees.

Hi All,
Irene has come and we are still here. Tami, thanks for passing on the ok information.Parts of New York made out well...for the most part all is well there ...some subway flooding, but the streets are passable. Hope your nephew will be ok. I just had my power restored about an hour ago, it was out for about 12-13 hours, most of which were during the late night , early morning. I do hope the same holds true for Miz T's daughter. Many trees are down around here, and lots of flooding, but I am not in a flood zone thankfully...Okay...off to shower and get some more to eat...I couldn't cook because my stove has electric igniters that turn the gas jets on and I had forgotten that..lol. Glad I didn't lose my frozen food...I had just filled the freezers a week ago....things have worked out for me...
May the Blessings of God be upon all and life can be viewed in its best light. Peace.

Just heard we have a murderer on the loose in my area, last seen about a mile away from me. Police say he's killed three people and shot one of our policemen... lots of excitement since there are lots of trees to hide behind but in weakened condition...I'm making sure to lock up and hope for the quick capture...Oh boy...Irene sure blew up a big mess in more than one way... Later folks...

Heard from daughter via facebook post (from her smart phone). they lost power, but GS is playing with his trains and happy now. Someone suggested they join NetFlix, could get movies to cell phone or I-pad for GS to watch. she was able to set that up via her smart phone. That should help entertain him after dark. SIL will be off work till after Labor Day, so she will have help with him, that is good.

Heidi..sad to hear about Lady and Dennis.Hope the 2 new dogs help fill the gap.
Mama..pleased to hear you and the family are safe and the power is back on.It is a scarey thought to have a murderer so close.Take care.

I'm back with the 2 new girls. Mandy is 9... beautiful and sweet tempered. Lady (my 4th rescue collie named Lady) is at least 11... small, deaf and scruffy looking, with a massive overbite. They're both having fun exploring their new home right now.
