I don't think I could picture a dog with a massive overbite ....

Theresa, Rachel had an overbite but I would not say it was massive. It gave her a cute expression.

Tami, great post for TOPP, so agree with the second one!

Holding all in who have been affected by Irene in my thoughts, hope your power is restored quickly, and that damage is only to property...really sorry to hear about those cars :(

June, put a cut onion in your room tonight, it's supposed to suck in the bad germs and take away a cold.

Had a family dinner last night, only the oldest (and partner) and youngest were here. It was a Grand Prix viewing night, son likes to come and watch it with Dad. Originally it was going to be a pseudo birthday dinner for oldest daughter (birthday is tomorrow), we usually do it on the weekend rather than week nights, but that is not how she wants it this time! She is going to Peru on Wednesday morning, so she has spent the weekend getting last minute things and saying goodbyes. Still do not know if she wants it tonight or tomorrow night, or what she wants for dinner...it is so like her to leave everything till last minute...don't know where she gets that trait

Have fun Gail. Happy birthday to D#1
Good news that the dogs are happily settling into their new home...they will be better for it.

The guy who killed his wife, her boyfriend, his little child in Virginia, then came here and killed his MIL has also taken his own life just a mile from here. He was an active serviceman. It's sad to think of all the deaths involved, but we need to see the part that this darn war played into the mind set of these folks... sad end to the story, but I 'm glad he's not running loose making others afraid to move in their homes.

Very sad story, Mama. That's one of the many problems with war. People are trained to kill without remorse, as if other living creatures are simply "targets", and then supposed to readjust to life here. Not all people are stable enough to handle that. I'm surprised that more soldiers don't snap after all they go through. Killing others is not the way to solve problems.

Hello, Everyone!

It's a relief to hear that most of our friends/relatives have weathered Irene's arrival. Being without power, as so many of us know, can be quite difficult! Sending positive thoughts to all who are/were affected!

Mama, praying that all is well in your area! Having a murderer loose is a big problem. Hopefully law enforcement officials have found and captured him! Stay safe!

Nola, I'm not surprised to hear that you have had a busy week! In fact, I don't remember ever hearing you talk about a laid-back relaxing kind of week! Take care of yourself, please!

Heidi, welcome to the 2 new girls! I hope they help to fill that void created by the loss of Lady and Dennis!

Tami, changing wallets is my kind of work for the day! I hope you were able to meet your goal!

Morning all,
Mamacita, so glad to hear you are well with minimal damage. But so sorry to hear about the serviceman! A tragedy for everyone!!

MizT, I hope your grandson continues to cope and that your daughter has her power back very soon.

Heidi, I can't imagine an overbite in a dog either. Sounds interesting!

Theresa, June said it well. If D has to cope without much help from you, she will. It will all work out fine!

Gail, Happy Birthday greetings to D#1! I'm sure you'll pull together whatever ingredients she chooses for her dinner! Will it be cake , Pavlov, or some other sweet delicacy at the end?

Mama, what a relief that the murderer will kill no more. On the other hand, what a sad statement it makes about the mindset of so many of our servicemen and women. We ask so much of them, and it takes so much from them! Had he been deployed? Sometimes I think we should be surprised when we find someone who wasn't affected by their service to their country.

Well, as I read further, I see that Heidi said essentially the same thing as my last comment. Fine minds and all that, Heidi!

Hi, Suzy! I agree, I've never even considered that a dog could have an overbite. Maybe we'll need to ask Heidi to post a picture.

Suzy, I hope all is well in your household and with your family members! Thinking of you and all you're dealing with!

I foresee problems with Lady. She's an escape artist (has gotten out of the yard 3 times already) and is very aggressive over food. Mandy is a perfect sweetheart..

Morning..
I have Mondaymorningitis!!

Mum just rang me, wanting me to go on the 'Autumn Club' Day Trip next Monday, I said NO. She was not too happy with that answer, expecting me to say YES.
Unless she takes a taxi, I would be the only way she would get there in time for the Bus leaving around 9.00am.
A Taxi costs $, I would cost nothing..
having said that she would be paying for me to go on daytrip ...

Unless I have her stay overnight Sunday night (she would love that), I would have to leave home vewy early to pick her up first..
Going straight from my home to the centre, in order to get there on time, during morning peak traffic..
I would have to leave home 7.45pm..
for a trip that I could do in normal time around 20 mins.

Heidi, we look forward to pictures of the new "girls." Good luck with Lady, the escape artist! That could present some challenges!

Gail, I hope you were able to find the cake D#1 wants! When is the celebratory dinner? Gail, people from the midwest were already headed to the east coast on Friday to be there to help with repairs after Irene is finished. They were expecting some major power disruptions. Hopefully people will have somewhat mild temperatures (not the extremely high temperatures like they've been having in the southwest states) to deal with as they wait for power to be restored!

Rolanda, it's so hard to say, "No," and stick with that decision! Good luck dealing with a disappointed Mum!

Suzy, thanks for reminding me to check on current weather and news reports to get the updates!

Viv, so glad nothing exciting is happening! I hope your back is feeling better!

It's nearly 12:30 a.m., so time for me to head to slumberland! Sending positive thoughts, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for all to share! Good Night, All!

Alie's time at the end of the year is filling up fast, which means ours is too. The disability dinner dance has just been added, along with new years at Berry. I thought both of those w were off the agenda because one of the Pride girls has stopped returning calls. Forever Archie are doing the dinner dance, though one of the girls, the one I call queen of the world, objects to doing a Pride gig, Alie pointed out that it's not a Pride gig it's supporting a charity, but I think this girl is too selfish to get that!

NYE is interesting, the people who usually organise it are the family who launched pride and they don't want to do it this year so have asked the high school if they are interested....

Hello all
I hate paperwork, have I ever said that? Well I do. The Solicitor wanted my Dad's Death Certificate, I told him he had it and I only have copies, he said his archives are so disorganised he didn't want to look unless we are sure he has it. I've turned the house upside down, found the certified copies signed by him. Guess what - I'm sure he has it. Got to get Mum's last lot of tax prepared so have been working on that plus gathering her last bills (accom at the Care Home, remainder of funeral costs) so that the solicitor can go forward with Probate. Aaaarrrggghhh!

Glad our sudoku friends in Irene's path (Mama, Kathy/Maryland) seemed to get through OK.

Good night with the 2 new girls. Lady v.4 behaved herself- no fights- and being an escape artist, let herself out this morning. Mandy v.2 (Sprite and Dennis's mother was named Mandy) was a perfect angel, though she's extremely fascinated with my birds.

I normally only put collars on the dogs if they're leaving the yard, but I've put one on Lady. It has a tag with my phone number in case she escapes again and wanders off.
