I am not sure my bowling club is the one to belong to at the moment. In six weeks, I've lost a daughter, two ladies have lost husbands, and on Tuesday one of our ladies passed away suddenly (she had bowled two weeks before) with pancreas cancer (only found out three days before). I am tired of going to funerals.

Afternoon all - home from the ECG and bloodwork. Boy am I tired. We have the plumber coming some time this afternoon to fix our hose hook-up.

Hope you are OK June - you have had a very hard time of it lately.

Heidi, hope your epidural was horrible.

Julie - the cello does sound like it would be relaxing.

Off to get some ffuts done - hope to be back later.

Hope everyone who went for tests/procedures today were treated kindly and feel better soon.
My hubby got results from some tests he isn't diabetic, heart is fine as are kidneys. Cholesterol a little high but nothing to worry about. Just got to get his blood pressure under control, Dr. has upped his tablets.

Gekko All,
Quiet day here and I've had the vampires suck up a bunch of blood, then finished the yrdnual and have had a chance to just relax.
Jazz is doing well. I don't let him self-feed because he has been on a special diet most of his life that includes green beans, raw carrots and kibble. He also gets a spoonful of can food twice a day with his meds. He is down to eating 3 times a day now...just once more than usual. This diet helps control his weight because he is so large for his breed...most male Carin Terriers run 15 -18 lbs, he weighs 26-33 lbs. Theresa, he is almost 10 years old and still thinks he's a puppy most of the time. He's a great dog and I'll try and keep him around as long as possible. Thanks all for the good wishes.

Theresa, I hope you get some rest after your plumber leaves, and hope the testing for Al and MizT go well, but for Heidi, like the rest of you, I hope this is the worst epidural ever...and she responses quickly feeling better.
Julie, I think taking cello lessons is a wonderful thing to do...may you enjoy fulfilling your dream. So glad to have you share that with us.
June, your plate has been too full of sadness, may the sun break through soon. Take care of yourself.
Hopefully every one else is okay and are able to
continue to find joy where ever it pops up.We all need something to smile about. Nola, I was able to smile a lot with your good news...hope your sister continues to thrive!
Peace. ((((HUGS)))) for all.

Plumber is here but he can't finish the job today. They had an emergency, so arrived here late. In this area, if a farmer has a plumbing problem it is considered an emergency and they get put at the top of the list. I don't have a problem with that, but now it means I have to wait around on another day. IT IS WHAT IT IS, eh Gail???

Good morning all
Heidi - thinking of you and hoping this epidural does the trick!
Theresa - bummer about the plumber (hey, poetic!?)
June - you're still often in my thoughts and, I agree, the last thing you need is to lose anyone else or have to deal with another funeral. Just thinking that if Laura is losing her baby teeth, then our Chloe probably will soon too. She's grown up so much this year in Prep class.

Lachlan is at the airport - Gold Coast, many flights arrive/depart Gold Coast for Japan, they cater for the tourists. Spoke to him last night, he said he was more excited than nervous - I'll bet he's nervous now!
His parents will be on Fraser Island for 6 days from Sunday, as it is wilderness/national park and has no communication towers, Lachlan will have to phone me or his other grandmother. I suspect Karin will not enjoy the experience as she normally would.

Greetings friends.

Tricia Test Report:
Test was not too bad till the last part. Lady doing the procedure was kind, too. She went out of her way to make it more comfy for me. The med that made my gall bladder "function" and give a squeeze, made me hurt, sick at tummy, just not fun. It has continued on since home. Meds helped a bit, but I MUST be functioning by tomorrow AM. First time I phoned nurse, she said this was sometimes seen, but if it did not go away by 4:30 phone her. It did not, I did, but as usual, got voice mail, and am afraid she did not check calls fore leaving, bummer. I will muddle through somehow. NOW, did all the wishes for a bad epidural get crossed up with good luck for me and I got the bad test?? hehehe

We did not hear from Heidi, hope it is because all she could do was go to bed when she got home!

Theresa, sorry you are tired. Did you have to walk the long way to your test? Or was that not you, I forget, sorry. My tests were a long distance apart, they sent me up in a wheel chair after first one. I asked for a wheel chair going back, did not think having another of those painful spasms and cramps by myself in a long lonely corridor was a good idea. they rolled me to the exit door to parkingn lot, and I had a great close parking space. ONE benefit of being there before 6:30 am, you get the good parking

OK, time to push a chain again. Al must get up, get a bath, have his dinner, do his treatments. I do not want to be all night getting it done.

I did read, sorry no time to comment on each post,

Hugs to each of you, and Heidi, let us know how your epidural was when you can!

umm...a bit numb really Theresa, not really feeling much of anything! Hubby and I are in our routine, which sometimes feels like a rut, but, it is what it is. It's a bit strange and quiet around here with two of the girls out of the house, but Chloe has told me that she has had enough backpacking, there is no way she is going to make it to 3 months away, so she will be back some time next week, after a month away. I suppose after that things will return slightly back to normal.

Evening all. I have read the posts but don't know if I will remember all.

June, sorry to hear about all the sadness with the bowling club. I do hope things get better soon.

Tricia, glad your tests are over and hope the bad feelings go away soon.

I see Heidi hasn't posted since this morning so I hope that means it was a really bad one.

Mama, glad to hear the Jazz is doing better. Isn't it amazing how our furry friends can steal our hearts.

Hello to Gail, Rolanda, Theresa, Viv, Vicky, Nola and anyone one else I might have missed.

Good EARLY evening, Everyone! I need to go update the club's database and send all 152 member's names to another member so she can print out name badges for an all-day demonstration on Saturday that hubby and I will miss. (Haven't yet figured out how to be in more than one place at a time.) Also need to type up minutes of last Thursday's Education Committee meeting (late, but I put a priority on typing the guidelines for the grants, as deadline is Oct. 1).

Tami, thank you for the great TOPP and the coffee! How thoughtful that you'll make a fresh pot when MizT gets back!

Gail, not to worry about me - about about as slow as a tortoise. I just get stressed until things get done.

Rolanda, sorry I won't be able to help with the packing, but I think you said you're about 3/4 done without my help. Good luck finding a rental!

June, you're the one who is always going and always busy. I have no idea how you do it! Congrats on the bowls win! I bet Laura is excited about the lost teeth! Our oldest grandie hasn't lost one yet, but I bet we'll hear when she does! So glad to hear you are feeling better. I hope that continues and you allow yourself enough you time!

June, I'm pretty sure it's not your bowling club! I've been feeling the same about our wood turning club. Our treasurer and another member had heart attacks around the beginning of the year. The treasurer's husband had a massive stroke about 6 weeks ago. One man's wife died suddenly. At our meeting last night, one man (who is already VERY thin) said he's lost about 25 pounds - down to about 120 - from a severe case of sepsis. He was in the doctor's office, passed out, and they got him to the ER. Tests indicate that he must have been bitten by a spider 3 or 4 years ago and this has been building up in him. Our extreme heat this summer just brought it all out. He's been in the hospital, and has just 6 STRONG in-hospital IV antibiotic sessions left. He can hardly walk. They told him another couple of days and he wouldn't have made it to the end of October.

June, I hope things will soon be looking up at your club and that there will be no more major illnesses or deaths for the rest of the year!

Theresa, I hope you found time for a nap after your exhausting morning of tests! I also hope the plumber came when promised, accomplished what needed to be done, and didn't charge you an arm and a leg for the work!

I hope Heidi's epidural was the worst ever! With luck she's exhausted from it and will sleep away the rest of the day! I'm so glad Robert accompanied her!

I hope MizT's test today went well and she got some coffee, nourishment and rest!

Brenda, mostly good news for your hubby from his recent tests! I hope it only takes a minor adjustment to bring his blood pressure within the range his doctor wants!

Mamacita, I didn't realize you were scheduled for blood work today. I hope it went well! I also did yrdnual today - about 4 loads, so I should be caught up! Glad to hear that

Darn, I ran over again tonight. Here's the rest:

Mamacita, I'm glad to hear that Jazz is doing better! I don't know what the life expectancy is for a Cairn Terrier, though my B and SIL had one quite a few years ago. I hope he stays young and healthy, as he sounds like a good companion!

Well, it pays to keep reading. Theresa, so sorry the plumber was late and couldn't finish. I hope the work gets done expeditiously when he returns!

Cyn, of course everything will go well for Lachlan! I hope he has a wonderful time! I hope there will be no phone calls while he's gone, and hope his parents enjoy the wilderness activity!

Theresa, I'm so sorry that the procedure didn't end pleasantly! Maybe the nurse should have said, "Call before 4:30" or "Call between 4:00 and 4:15." What's the point in telling you to call at 4:30 if she wasn't there to take your call? I hope all of your chain-pushing went well! Pamper yourself a bit the rest of the day and get plenty of sleep! Hope you feel MUCH better tomorrow!

Gail, I'm thinking being in a rut is better than having many surprises each day! No doubt it is quieter in the house with 2 D's gone. No doubt you are right, it will seem more "normal" when at least one of them gets back. So sorry you weren't able to convince her to stick it out and get as much fun/excitement as possible out of visit.

Rolanda, I hope your Mum's check up goes well and she is healing rapidly!

Silly me - I was thinking I might have gotten here before Tami left, but just looked at the time. Nope, she gets up EARLY to get Mitchell on his bus each morning, then get herself ready for school. Sleep well, Tami!

Hello all,
Quick drop in. I've been feeling a little blah and although I've been reading, find it difficult to put sentences together right now. Especially when there are so many things to comment on! I'm going to have to sit down one day with my notebook open and write a super super long post. Julie, it was MizT whose procedure didn't end pleasantly, not me (your post before the last one). I was reading it thinking, "I don't remember what went wrong for me today with the tests." It's nice to see I'm not the only one who does this. Hope you have a good night's sleep, young lady.

One day an old German Shepherd starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a panther heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.

The old German Shepherd thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep s*** now!"

Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the panther is about to leap, the old German Shepherd exclaims loudly,

"Boy, that was one delicious panther! I wonder, if there are any more around here?"

Hearing this, the young panther halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees.

"Whew!," says the panther, "That was close! That old German Shepherd nearly had me!"

Meanwhile, a squirrel who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the panther. So, off he goes.

The squirrel soon catches up with the panther, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the panther.

The young panther is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, squirrel, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!"

Now, the old German Shepherd sees the panther coming with the squirrel on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?," but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old German Shepherd says...

"Where's that squirrel? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another panther!"

Moral of this story...

Don't mess with the old dogs... Age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery!
BS and brilliance only come with age and experience.

Tami, just today's tests are over. I still have 2 more tests to go

The nurse evidently had checked messages and notified doc, because at 7:30 the doc phoned me. He said perhaps I had a sick gall bladder (ya think?), Instructed to go to ER if it did not get better after another pill. It did get better, I can take the med once more during the night if needed. Gotta get Al to the ENT clinic tomorrow and I must talk to social worker there. I can always go to ER on the way home.

Suzy, glad to know you have been reading, sorry you have not been feeling well.

HEIDI, one more recruit for Sureal Farms Spa and Rehabilitation, put Suzy on the list, please.

Getting sleepy so I must go. Tomorrow's turn out is not as early as today's, but still early. Silly me, I did not think that this morning I would be driving in the dark for the first part of the drive.

Hugs to each of you, till tomorrow

I am alive. Barely. It was a humdinger, because I kept telling the Doc that "No, that isn't the right spot.... no, that isn't the right spot... no, that isn't the right spot... Shriek! THAT's the spot. When I first told him that the last epidural had no effect, he was concerned, and said if this one doesn't work, I'll have to go through surgery.

I had one fun thing happen at the hospital. Another lady who had an appointment around the same time as I did arrived with her service dog, a lovely Giant Schnauzer named Leo. We were called to go back to the exam rooms at the same time. Leo took one look at me, ignored his owner, bounded over to me and greeted me like I was his long lost best friend. I had to shake my finger at him and tell him that service dogs weren't supposed to do that. Very unprofessional. He wouldn't walk back to their exam room, tho', until I walked next to, and slightly in front of him. Then he tried to go into my exam room with me instead of with his very sweet and kind owner. (I think she had MS.) Leo obviously sensed that I adore dogs.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, grab a mug and a chair and relax. It is still too hot to sit on the porch but the house is air conditioned. Can not survive south Florida without AC.

Heidi, glad that it was a bad epidural. Funny story about the service dog.

Julie, hope you got all the notes typed up and the names list sent to the other member. You must really enjoy wood turning to do all you do for the club.

Suzy, hope the blah's go away soon. Try to find something fun to do and maybe that will help.

Lachlan's plane landed in Osaka at 7.15pm our time - it took until 8.35pm for Jetstar to update their flight status. Hasn't been a happy 1 1/2 hours for Karin. When the website wouldn't update, she rang and got an offshore call centre who told her the plane was still in the air. Discount airlines - ppfftttt!!! Definately not happy.
