Afternoon.

Been out and about Retail Therapy with MIL this morning, not long home. She rung and said she was off the to Shopping Centre, did I want to come :)
She bought my Chrissy Pressie, and I bought hers (she will be looking after hers till P nd I move into the Rental).
Time for some lunch, and will come back to read up on what's been going on in SAland.

Hi all!
Julie, #2's arm is healing but he has had the stitches out now and it's still not properly healed. He is having this week off as well and is on his second course of antibiotics.

Rolanda, you've got to love retail therapy especially when you get an early Chrissy pressie.

It's time to go home now. Have a wonderful day/night everyone.

Sorry, I missed some birthdays while I was away.

Morning all. Coffee is ready even if it is kind of late. Hubby has to work today. I am home cooking. Mitchell went to services at temple. He is reading a torah portion, in Hebrew. I should be there but I am a bad girl.

Dinner last night was fabulous. My Sis-in-law is an amazing cook. Kids like stuff I did not think they would even try. Must remember to ask for her recipes. I usually get a new one or two every year.

Good Morning friends!

Broni, if Vicki broke it, did you fix it???

Vicki, hope son's arm continues to improve and he is back to work soon.

Rolanda, sounds as if you had a good morning retail therapy. What is it your MIL must looking after till you move?? Inquiring minds you know? It sounds like it is alive, needing looking after

Paperwork on tap today, not my favorite thing to do. But I received notice that his hospital bill was covered, and that letter is accepted as proof of need by others, so I have no excuse now to put it off any longer.

Hugs to each of you, with extras. Till later.

Woo Hoo, it's still morning, and I am now reading page 223!

Great advice-TOPP, Broni! It's a perfect solution!

Brenda, the wireless earphones sound like they could be a great solution for June & Ken!

June, I hope the hives have improved by now! That itching is something that is mighty hard to ignore!

Rolanda, Suzy and all others, please remember that all of us enjoy sharing your proud Mummy/Mommy moments! Thanks for sharing, and congrats to S#2, Rolanda!

Mamacita, your wisdom is always welcome! Love the thought about the late bloomers!

Suzy, I didn't know that those little buttons on the guitar are called "end pins." The pointy thing that comes out of the bottom of a cello and rests on the floor to support it is also called an end pin.

I hope you love your new glasses, Suzanne!

Rolanda, ah yes, being height challenged is SO much fun - NOT! Hubby is 6 feet, 5 inches tall; I'm 5 feet, 5 inches tall (and shrinking). It's always a pleasure to try to find things he puts away. When we were getting ready for all of the people coming to stay with us before the wedding, I discovered that there were TWO packages of paper dinner napkins (200 in each) in the top cabinet over the wall oven. (I kept buying more packages because I thought they had all been used.) I wonder what I/we will find if we ever move.

Tami, so glad you found someone with jumper cables so you could get home. Has your mechanic looked for a short somewhere in your electrical systems? Doesn't seem right that you car should go through batteries quickly. On the other hand, D in Texas has just had to replace a battery to pass emission test. They said hers (only 2 years old) was too low. Hubby thinks it's because of the excessive heat, which would apply to you as well.

MizT, so sorry that you must push a chain to get some things done! Hopefully the endoscopy/colonoscopy will provide some answers! This has gone on too long!

The Skype discussion was interesting. It came up again last week while we were away. Hubby seems to miss the conversations. Oh, well!

And now, on to page 224.

Tami, what a great TOPP + 1! I hope your car's battery problem has been worked out!

Sorry the allowance situation means you won't be able to get Skype, Suzy! I'm not rubbing it in, but I'm glad I don't need to worry about allowance, though hubby would probably see some benefits to less time online.

June, I'm so glad to read that the hives are improving and less itchy!

Heidi, I loved your comment: "Men!!! Can't live with 'em, can't shoot 'em." There are days . . .

MizT, Oct. 5 isn't too far off . . . I hope it will provide some answers!

Tami, I'm glad your hubby at least agreed to see the hand surgeon. Hopefully he also listened to him.

Heidi, I bet the Gouldian finches feel like they're in heaven with the new additions to their cage! Have you posted a picture?

MizT, I hope the pine scent has helped keep the dogs out of your trash! Sounds like you and Joy are really making a dent in the paperwork! Congratulations! I'm glad Al had the idea of putting the valve in his trach. Yep, it's better coming from him! Hopefully the white board and dry erase markers will also be helpful!

MizT, keep on keeping on! You are doing great and encouraging Al to reinvest in his life! I hope the monster disappears! While I hope the teen neighbor makes the best choice for himself, it would be disappointing if he chooses to leave his grandma's house. It sounds like he "has his head on straight!" Hopefully a new phone will provide you with more reliable mobile service!

Heidi, I'm glad the birds are getting used to their new surroundings!

Great TOPPS on page 225, Tami!

Theresa, that's absolutely FABULOUS news that there is NO blockage! Terrific! What a relief that must be for you! I hope you have been celebrating! Congrats on being smoke-free for almost 2 months!

Thank you for your words of wisdom, Mamacita!

Tami, the facts/trivia were amazing and interesting! Who knew? I think by now your hubby has seen the doctor. I hope he received good news!

June, Laura's matter-of-fact response to all that has gone speaks so much about the support she has received/is receiving from the people in her life who love her! You are all amazing!

I think I'll be able to finish page 226 before time to xif hcnul.

Terrific TOPP, Tami the Troublemaker!

Cyn, I hope you are feeling better and the flu flew!

MizT, I hope the bit of surgery has made all the difference and the boil is disappearing/has disappeared! Take care of yourself, Sweetie! If you're tired, try to fit a nap into your day. You need to keep up your strength and energy! {{{MizT and Al}}}

Gail, I'm so glad your entire family could gather for dinner! I know you enjoy those times, which become harder to organize as your children grow older.

June, what wonderful news that Belinda's mare had a colt. What a shame that she missed it, but at least I hope she enjoyed the wedding of Cinderella and her prince!

Tami, I hope you and Mitchell enjoy the Renaissance music more than you enjoyed Medieval Gregorian chant! Good luck with the new paper! (Is Mitchell taking a Music appreciation or music history class?)

Brenda, good luck with the sale of the Volvo!

Broni, great correction on the comma use, though I read Brenda's comment in the spirit it was written. In fact, I often read comments, then wonder what I missed when someone self-corrects or is reminded of something. Incorrect use of commas (and other punctuation) in PUBLISHED works is a pet peeve of mine. I even see it on websites. Guess maybe I should have been a proofreader/editor.

Heidi, if a bug was chasing you, I hope your long sleep helped keep it away! Hope you're feeling better and you and Challenger have been able to get out for a ride!

Suzy, I liked your story about the male typing teacher and the dots on a wall!

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better, Cyn!

Julie, Mitchell is in the International Baccalaureate program. He needs to take an "art" class. He was able to choose from art, band or theater appreciation. He chose band. It ends up he is taking Advanced Placement Music Theory. The teacher is giving the papers so the kids will be able to pass the AP exam. If he passes, it counts as college credit. in 9th grade and already taking two AP classes. I do not envy his work load.

While I'm waiting for the wet swishy thing to finish, I've decided to continue on to page 227.

I agree that most of us probably feel more comfortable sharing more information on this site. One of the advantages is that the posts add up rather quickly. (I can attest to that, as it's taking me days to get caught up. Unless someone was REALLY trying to find information about any of us, there's just too much information flying by to catch it!

Viv, I'm so glad your Avon is doing so well, but sorry that you're dealing with the flu! Hopefully it is better by now! Be thankful for the opportunity to spend some time with your brother. Hopefully it will take your mind off the reason why you're there in the first place!

I also received the email "from Mama" and realized upon reading it that it wasn't written in her style. I had received a similar one several months ago and immediately contacted the friend whose email was hacked to let her know. I agree with Heidi's comments about low-lifes!

It was great to see Steve fly by. I hope his writing is going well!

MizT, I hope the boil will go away on its own - well, with the assistance of 3 antibiotics!

Theresa, how sweet that your grandies used their allowance money to buy you "flowers" for your birthday!

Nice to see you back Julie. You have not told us much about your trip to Ireland. Beautiful place.
Tricia, I know what you mean about medications, not that i have to take much normally. About to finish the prednisone. It has made me feel good
We had a nice day yesterday. Picked up our visas for Vietnam the other side of the city. Then drove to Watson's Bay (Near the entrance to Sydney Harbour). Bought take away fish and chips, ate them in the park looking back down the harbour to the city. Then had a walk to the side looking out to the ocean and watched the wild surf breaking over the rocky cliff face. Drove back through the area where the very rich live!
Then some retail therapy but it was a new vacuum cleaner. The old one is OK but it is about 15 years old and I think it only picks up the stuff on the top of the carpet! My lady is off work for a month so it was a good time to convince hubby we needed a new one. They were out of stock so pick it up Monday, then tell hubby he can learn to use it!

Off to a fashion parade this morning and a friends for dinner tonight. I just wish my house would magically get clean and tidy. I think I have 12 months accumulated mess!

Hugs to you all. Think I might go back to bed for a couple of hours!

What a lucky group of folks are we....Look at the situation world wide where you hear and read of so many problems caused by dysfunctional children with terroristic leanings, destroying schools, teachers or each other,or themselves, then we can come here and read of all of the fabulous things our children are doing every day. What makes it better is that our kids are not super good or incapable of the normal ups and downs faced by ALL who grow into manhood or womanhood, but still are doing and making great strides as they move forward with their lives ....I'm so impressed with these kids...my young ones included, but am equally proud of all that we adults have invested in them that allow them to flourish. Thanks to all who have touched a child....any child in any manner, because you have laid the groundwork for both very positive and negative life lessons for them to learn from, and from the experiences related here...they are learning quite well!!!!

Good Morning my friends.
Must shake a tail feather this morning, have a real estate agent coming over this morning just to give me an idea what I would need to do to sell the house....no, not planning on selling it yet but with my brother coming up to help me finish the house off it does not hurt to get opinions from others. Bro wants to lighten up my wongerful coloured walls, don't think that will happen, plenty of other things to do like paint two bedrooms, replace the kitchen, fix up the laundry and bathroom.
Love and Hugs to you all.

I'm back from a nice 9 mile drive. Challenger was really well behaved, even with a LOT of traffic, including a funeral procession. He's ready for the parade the day after tomorrow.
Tomorrow I'll be washing and polishing the carriage and harness. We're gonna look great in the parade. I'm gonna see if I can get a friend to take pictures.

Broni - good luck with the RE agent - I think RE values in the Redlands are improving, especially in your area. Down here, ours are being affected by all the new estates they that our Council keep approving in their wisdom. Estates that ruin our bushland and our koala and wallaby habitats. But, hey, we've got a proud environmentally friendly council, haven't we?? Well, they think so!

My tractor is finally back! It's been in the shop for about a month. There was some foreign material in the diesel and it plugged up all the fuel lines in the tractor. It took them a long time to get it cleaned out. They even had to lay the tractor on it's side.

Heidi, is it possible that someone who shall remain nameless put gasoline into the tractor? That would stop up lines and gunk up a diesel really fine. I am glad for you the tractor is back, still some days when you will need the AC midday if out working with it.

Speaking of AC in vehicles, today I went to town and back without mine! A lovely sunny but not so hot day, a cool breeze about, and I enjoyed the rush of the wind through the opened windows. Well except for the little short hairs that escape the pony tail, and whip about my face. Never have liked that. Once I kept a baseball cap in the car to wear to keep that to a minimum. Anyone else enjoying a ride without AC besides me and Heidi in her buggy? Does your hair blowing about your face infuriate you as mine does me?

CynB sounds like your council has their head in the sand about bushland and habitat for your animals. "Progress" seems to take precedence over preservation world over. So sad.

Heidi, I do hope you get photos of Challenger and you in the parade. I would love to see. I am glad his trial run today went well. Was today's drive longer than the parade route will be?

Broni, replace the kitchen? That sounds major. Just what are you planning to replace it with? Something more fun than a kitchen perhaps hehehe. I loved the deep bright colors of your house, when you showed the photos of them back some time ago. Time enough to paint them lighter once the time to sell comes. I know you enjoy the walls the way they are now.

Tami, I also feel special kinship to all the "nieces and nephews" we have through this site. Love hearing about their adventures and triumphs.

If I had a nickle for every time I correct the spelling of "their" we all could go out to dinner. I can actually spell it letter by letter in my mind, and it still comes off my fingers as thier. There have been other words I typo like this one, but this seems to have hung around the longest. At least it shows as a typo, and not another word.

June, the fashion parade sounds like fun, and on a larger scale so does your upcoming trip. I hope you enjoy both. Yes, Laura has to have some sad days, as do you. but all in all, the both of you seem to be accepting this very well. I think for you, perhaps you did your grieving beforehand, as you watched her slip away.

June, that prednisone can make you feel really good! Just beware the letdown when you stop taking it, that can jump up and bite you on the backside if you are not careful. Will you be easing off it gradually? That does help prevent the letdown.

Julie, I do enjoy your summaries, I find I have missed some posts once I read your posts. BUT we all do want to hear about your trip! How long were you gone? What cities did you visit? What was the most beautiful thing you saw? The funniest thing? The most memorable? Please share with us, especially those of us who will never get to make that trip. Did you take photos? Ar

Are you posting them anywhere so we could see? BTW, I have had a nap every day this week, so following orders even fore you issued them hehehe.

June, I take relatively few medications on a regular basis. Two for blood pressure (high enough dose of one that would control it has to many side effects, so low doses of two) one medicine for my fibromyalgia and one for blood sugar. Of course I have my pain pills, when the pill for fibro is not enough.

I made an apple crisp today. Hubby helped a little. I wanted to get to town instead of waiting the half hour for it to bake, so he said he could get it out of oven for me. Then they had a good sale on bananas, and I bought enough to make a banana pudding, the old fashioned kind with eggs and sugar and milk, not the from a box. I hope to do that tomorrow.

OH, tomorrow the cleaning lady is coming again. She is really the cleaning girl, very young. I hope tomorrow she can get the deep cleaning sone in kitchen and living room. Al said he would come to my computer chair and install ome updates for me while she was in living room. Both our chairs need moving, to access the chair side tables and the area under and around them. Moving chairs is not something easy for me, it takes 2 good hands.

My sister has planted a seed of thought in my mind, and I find it is growing, even though at first there was no way I would consider it. Now, some of you might think I am getting too far ahead of myself, but it is most likely Al will pass away fore me, unless I get hit by a train or such. Sister has 2 friends moving into a subsidised retirement complex, rent is based on income. Units are small, but they really have all I am using now, a bedroom, living room kitchen and eating area. Thinking about this , the pros and cons, I can see me not having to worry about changing light bulbs, mowing lawns, having leaky pipes or pipes that freeze. There is a lot of upkeep on a place, and the porch is all of the whole outdoor one acre I really use. IF I could be assured of a unit with a balcony (only a few of those in the complex) it would be more inviting, I could have my "porch" for early coffee, for a few flowers. Something to think about, though. Would possibly have to change my doctors, this is up east of Birmingham, and I DO NOT want to go to the University Hospital clinics, too much downtown for me. Still something for thought. I function much better if I am thoroughly prepared, have thought things out in advance.

The parade route is only about a mile and a half long. MUCH shorter than todays drive.

IH is innocent of putting something wrong in the tractor's tank. The last load of diesel delivered here in bulk was contaminated with particles of something. Cousin Don's tractor is also down with the same problem. So are half the tractors in the county.

Hi all.
Heidi, the parade sounds fabulous. I do hope you can find someone to take pictures. It s*cks that your area got a bad batch of diesel. Can anything be done to make up for the inconvenience?

Tricia, thinking ahead is a smart idea. It will give you time to find a place and be mentally prepared when the time comes. I hope it does not happen for a loooong time.

Not much else. Dinner was good and as usual, plenty of leftovers for tomorrow.

Whew, I have finally reached page 228 and I'm closing in!

Broni, wonderful news that you'll be attending the Melbourne Christmas party! How are things going for you?

June, I'm so glad that your MIL has gone home and you can now hopefully find a little time for yourself! Congrats on the wins at bowls! I am so pleased that you will have the opportunity to go to Cambodia with Ken!

Nola, how awful that a Trojan Horse attacked! I can't imagine losing everything saved to the computer! We should get in the habit of doing regular back-ups here at home! I hope the skin condition has improved!

Tami, I'm glad your hubby went to see the surgeon, and surgery is not currently on the schedule! Thinking positive thoughts that the resplinting does the trick!

Gail, if we all could keep a positive mind-set, what an improved life we would lead! Keep up the good work! You and Broni are often on the same wavelength! Hopefully you don't have too much unexpected to cope with!

Broni, I hope your visit to the dentist went well. It seems the cleaning is probably less of a concern than the three fillings. Regardless, I hope you were/are able to get through all of the procedures painlessly!

Heidi, I hope your concern about your back is unfounded, though I doubt that is. I hope something can be found that will give you some pain relief short of surgery! Doesn't that have a long healing/recovery time? Gentle {{{HUGS}}} coming your way!

I think I'm getting too tired to think and can't remember what I'm reading, so it must be time to head to bed. May all of you share in the , positive thoughts, prayers and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} that is here on this site! Good Night!
