The question for each man to settle is not what he would do if he had means, time, influence and educational advantages; the question is what he will do with the things he has. The moment a young man ceases to dream or to bemoan his lack of opportunities and resolutely looks his conditions in the face, and resolves to change them, he lays the corner-stone of a solid and honorable success.

I chose that one because it reminded me of Al and his dome building business.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Tricia, I wish I had the magic words to make things all better, but I don't. All I can say is that I hope it offers some comfort to know that I am thinking of you and Al and keeping you both in my heart and my prayers.

Tricia.... Words cannot begin to express the sorrow we all feel today. We know your world has been changed, but we want you to know that ours has too.
Thank you for giving us such a wonderful picture of love between too people, even to the point where telling and responding to the request to "leave me alone" could be safely shared and understood. You have demonstrated how to recognize the difference in knowledge and wisdom...Thank You! Al, did it his way!!! Kudos for helping him to have that dignity at the end of his life! I am so happy that his flight landed softly and he is no longer suffering above the green.....Peace be with you and yours.

I am sure Tricia would like us to lighten the page a bit. We all know how we feel.
I am still searching for photos etc for this reunion on Sunday. Just came across my Great Grandmothers Bible and Hymn book. In it is a sheet for the Coronation of His Majesty, King Edward VII
Suitable Hymns Coronation Day Thursday, June 26 1902.
Lots of stuff I should be taking the time to clean away and put in the bin. Maybe another day. I stick so much away in boxes!

OK.... I just did something crazy. IH will be furious. I have committed to buy a Gypsy Vanner mare, in the Spring, after she has been bred. She's going to be bred to Whimsey's sire. That'll give me 3 Vanners, and a 4th the following year.

What a wonderful piece of history, June!
I found some great old Brisbane related stuff when I went through Dad's belongings - the Brisbane telephone directory 1936, a few booklets on the opening of our City Hall about the same time and my most treasured possession is a drawing of Brisbane which was a supplement to 'The Illustrated Sydney News' on 10th August 1888. I had it framed.

I just read on FB that Gail's son is currently having surgery on his hand after a sports related injury.
Speaking of which, my daughter was rear-ended by a P-plater (new, young driver) yesterday afternoon. She has aches and pains but is OK. The young girl was taken to hospital. The impact was so hard that it took both tow-trucks to pull the cars apart and both had to be towed to the repairers because the air-bags didn't deploy in either car and they should have!

The airbags didn't deploy? I see lawsuits ahead! That should never happen. I'm glad your daughter is relatively OK.

Cyn, as Heidi said, glad your daughter is relatively ok. The car can be fixed.

Heidi, sometimes I think you do things just to annoy IH

I have one more sleep and one more day of school and then I am off for one whole week. I don't know who is more excited, me or the kids.

Good evening friends, a busy day here today. June is right, I do appreciate the wishes and comments about Al. but I enjoy the lighter, nore normal posts. Sometimes ya just need to read and get away from reality for a few.

My sister has been with me all day, really took care of me. I wanted to make a wreath for my mailbox. Years ago, a wreath or spray of white flowers was hung on the door of the deceased and I liked that tradition. We bought flowers, and I put it together, with black robins for grieving. I like how it looks.

I had been looking online for black crocs, yes, I will wear crocks for the funeral. It is gonna be uncomfortable enough, do not need my feet hurting. I almost ordered the shoes last night, but did not for unknown reasons. Today I got a package from my daughter containing the balck and the white crocs she had bought me several months ago. Just in time.

We got all the chores we intended to do done today, plus some extras. Tomorrow we will make final arrangements.
I did read, and intended to comment, but i am falling asleep at the keyboard. It is early, but I was up early. My bed calls. Hope to visit again tomorrow, till then, hugs to each of you.

Heidi, you are just like my daughter Belinda, you just cannot resist buying horses!
Cyn, tell you daughter to get checked out by a doctor. Just in case any injury should show up in the future.
They were great finds Cyn. I love all the old stuff and I have plenty of it. I come from a long line of hoarders.

It is lovely you want to carry on an old tradition Tricia. You must have had a premonition that the parcel was going to arrive from your daughter.

Today we went to the Morikami museum and Japanese gardens in Delray Beach. Even though we chose the hottest and most humid day of our visit to Florida to go walking we had a lovely peaceful time. followed by a delicious Japanese meal in the restaurant there. Came back home and after a little rest went into the pool to cool down. We seem to have so much luck with the weather we are having. Our forth holiday this year and the only one without any rain.

Tricia - the wreath sounds lovely and why not wear crocs? Good for you. Hope you get some sleep.
June - she did go to the doctor and had to wait 2 hours while I sat here worrying.
Heidi - the airbags in both cars did not deploy but the police reckoned that an impact that would cause those cars to lock together, they should have. So yes, Peugot (in Karin's case) are going to have to 'splain' why!

Susan, Richard's cousin, has just heard that her daughter has had to go into hospital for some tests, she has an enlarged liver. It has been decided that Susan really needs to be with her on Saturday. We leave on Sunday so will have to get a taxi down to Miami airport. I think I would be going to my daughter tomorrow not the next day but she cannot get a sooner flight.

Cyn hope Karin and the other girl are ok. I would want answers too from the car manufacturers. We pay through the nose to have these safety features on our cars.
Heidi I bet you are so very excited about the new Vanner mare, are you hoping to start breeding them yourself?

MizT, I love the sound of the wreath.

Cyn, I agree with June, your daughter should definitely be checked out. I wasn't and ended up paying out a fortune for physio and chiropractors, work got me a great chair. I think I've told that story. Soon after all of the managers got one too because a lowly engineer couldn't have a better chair than they had!

The air bag thing is a big worry. I hope that is explained!! And not by the manufacturer and their cover story.

Brenda, I hope Susan's daughter is okay and that your flight is a good one.

A bit of a laugh for you. I posted a new status.

Copy and paste to your status, even for a few minutes, if you know someone who is still alive because you couldn't afford a hitman.

Dana commented underneath: Should I be concerned?

Guilty conscience much????

Suzy - I posted that the other night for my son, whose ex, that day, had decided she was going to take him to court to get Emily back.
Not maternal instincts - she will be out of a job at Xmas, her employer is relocating to Asia for cheaper labour. Meanwhile she does the sums - if she gets Em back she'll get more from the Govt and more from Andrew for maintenance!
Em rang her Mum up and told her she wants to stay with Dad!!

If the ex-from-h*ll tries to take him to court, Emily can always tell the Judge who she wants to live with. That will hold a lot of weight.

Afternoon.
my sister and I had a pleasant visit with Mum this morning.
The Facility Mum is in, is quite nice, despite what She says.
Took us about 1/2hr (morning traffic) this morning to get there, only 20 mins to go home, relatively easy to get to.

Hi All,
Have been reading but didn't have much to add to the convo so stayed quiet and enjoyed everyone's else's post for the most part... I got a big chuckle from Suzie several times...the new status post and the response, and her dear cynical view of our ever trustworthy auto manufactors explanations for the failure of their car parts...They Always tell the truth don't they?...LOL!
Tricia....you go girl....setting the gold standard for comfort during a most stressful time!!!! Sure makes sense to me....and a million others in your shoes...or should I say crocs... .... Hope tonight you will be able to get some restorative sleep...you have earned it and need it... Sleep well my friend...

Heidi...Just checked out the link for the horses you gave us....What beautiful horses they are...congratulations on your purchase...enjoy!!!

I see several bad typos in my recent posts...must learn to chech up on my spell search thingy...it doesn't seem to be working because it should have caught a couple of em...sigh...well I don't have to be overly sensitive with this crowd since we all know how ffs works..lol
Well, I think I shall head off to bed and read for a bit...take care all...sleep well, and dream pleasant dreams...no Cyn, you are not allowed to dream about setting firecrackers (or worse) under any former DIL's...they just aren't worth it...but we'd all understand if you do!

Well!!! What a day...don't know where to start!

Let me start by saying congratulations to my daughter Hannah, yesterday she completed her final high school exam, so now she is officially an adult (even though she is still only 17!).
Hubby and I took her out afterwards for a celebratory lunch at the place of her choosing-Pancake Parlour!
