Good luck with your new tractor, Heidi - hopefully things will get done easier and more quickly with a reliable tractor. Also good luck with all your medical appointments.

MizT, I hope you enjoy your time at your sister's.

I too wish that 2011 would just move away. Some stuff going on here too that makes me think that way.

MIL's doctor says she can go home, but the nurses say no. She can't go home because she can't walk yet and there's no way any of us can be with her and lift her on a regular basis. We are not getting any younger either.

At son-in-law's office they had a round of lay-offs yesterday and there may be more to come. His boss was let go yesterday. Very, very stressful time here - D is worried. Could they not have at least waited until after Christmas? SIL carpools with someone (app. 100 km round trip per day), and his driving buddy was one of the ones let go. D is unable to go back to work for a few months yet. Sigh ... or should I say Bah humbug!!!

I'll be back in a bit to hopefully finish reading.

Heidi good news about the drain in your ear, hope the tractor works well and makes your life easier.
Theresa, it never rains but it pours, hope that your SIL's job is safe for a while.
June you always provide some wonderful entertainment at your xmas do's looking forward to seeing the photos.
Had devastating news from Susan today. They are starting chemo on her daughter today in ICU instead of taking her to the cancer ward. The staff advised them that Phillip (Megan's husband and Harold her father) should get there asap asMegan could go into a coma. Things are not looking to good at all.

LOVE the new tractor. It's different enough that it'll take a little getting used to, but so far I'm happy. So is Robert.

It is still December 8 by me.

Imagine all the people,
Living life in peace...

You may say that I'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Good Evening, Everyone! I'm going to try to get through this page (288) if I can!

Good news that you were not in pain (yesterday morning?), MizT! I have seen those frames/cases for a triangle-folded flag. That is a really good idea to protect it! You have a smart kitty to nap where it is warm and the computer can purr to her!

Suzy, I'm glad Alie reacted well to not progressing in the competition! The description didn't sound like it would be a good experience for her.

Cyn, what a relief that Kaitlyn didn't have a stroke, though a bleed is probably also not the best thing for her!

June, I hope you warmed up and got a good night's sleep! Of course, you have another project - the entertainment for the party - to keep you busy. Don't over-do! How is the foal doing? Is it making an adjustment to its new surroundings?

Heidi, I hope the MRI helps the doctor decide what needs to be done - and also hope it doesn't show much more damage! Good luck with the MRI and the follow-up appointment on Jan. 2! I hope the new tractor is much more reliable than the one it's replacing!

Broni, good for you for impressing your new employers! Isn't it great that you can impress by doing your job? Makes you wonder what other people are doing when they're "working." Hope your cousin is doing well! Enjoy the work and play with your brother after Christmas!

Suzanne, Brenda and Vicki, I hope all is well with you! (Sorry, my brain isn't functioning and I can't remember.)

Tami, looking forward to hearing the recorder concert!

RIP Harry Morgan! What a talented man! M*A*S*H is one of my all-time favorite television series!

Heidi, your description of Sandy sounds so cute. They grow so quickly, so enjoy!

Gail, congratulations to Hannah! I hope the dinner was wonderful!

Cyn, I'm glad there was a heated pool! I hope Hayley had fun!

Suzy, sometimes things just work out for the best. Alie will be much more "established" in her style by next year! How nice that her principal commented favorably!

Heidi, great news that the drain in your ear is working! I hope the new tractor made light work of feeding the cows and horses!

Thought I had a day off tomorrow, but Alie has been asked, and accepted, to perform at an art for hospitals exhibition - by the woman who didn't select her for the ensemble!! Go figure.

Brenda and Theresa, thinking more thoughts for your extended families.

Rolanda, yours too, but different thoughts.

Heidi, I want Sandy to come over for a hug! I would love to have her sitting on my lap for a while... baby animals are so relaxing and soothing.

A funny to distract you all. Hubby just told me that he swears Alie is going on 60. He reminded her to feed the dogs and she laid out the towel to put the dishes on. He went into the back room to play on his computer and heard her start playing the guitar. Did you feed the dogs Alie? Oh, I forgot. And that is normal, not just tonight when she has exhaustion as an excuse.

Up early.... waking up... having some yogurt w/ granola to coat the tummy... bundling up (it's 24℉ / -4.4℃) ... then out to catch horses to get hooves trimmed and 3 shod.

Morning!

Hubby came home last night and told me his museum had had lay-offs yesterday - 17 people gone but he was spared thankfully. Two of 4 people who do the same thing he does were laid off ... too close for comfort. What is the purpose of lay-offs just before Christmas? I think it's just downright cruel.

Hubby's mom seems to not care about living any more. She doesn't do anything but lay there in her hospital bed. She doesn't even help the physiotherapist with the exercises - she just lays there. She was always a vibrant woman who was like a second mother to me and it's hard to see her just giving up.

I haven't started my Christmas shopping yet -- yikes! First coffee, then there's time to worry.

It is cruel and heartless beyond belief, Theresa! Why ruin so many Christmases, when they could wait a couple of weeks? And yet so many do it.

The horse shoer is over an hour late. Ah, well.

Layoffs at this time of year ARE cruel. Wal-Mart here has already laid off some of the Christmas help.
Thanks for the coffee, TTT.

Lay off at any time are bad and I agree at this time it is worse, but it all comes down to money. The firms will not have to pay out for holiday money for those who have been laid off.
Thank goodness your husband has been spared Theresa.

Good Morning friends. I canceled my trip to sister's house today, back and hips were unhappy all night, and continue to complain this morning. Pain meds just did not work, I slept poorly, waking often. I cannot take pain meds and drive and taking meds won for today. I thought I had some lidocaine patches somewhere, was going to try those today, but they are hiding from me. I wish I had some cookies to make here today, was in the moode to smell cookies baking. Might make some muffins, I do have muffin mix.

Miss Kitty had requested there be no funeral or service for her, so today immediate family only are gathering for a brief graveside service. Thinking of my sister and her husband and his children today.

Tomorrow is a wreath lying ceremony at the National Cemeteries. It is called Wreaths across America, and the ceremony hornoing the veterans will be same time at all of them. Roger and I have plans to go IF we recover from back and hip pain. Yep, he hurt all night last night also. Must be weather caused, with so many I know having problems same time.

Teresa, I am sorry to hear that your MIL has no interest in living now. Older people can do that, just decide they do not want to live, and once they make that decision, usually they do not.

Heidi, I hope you can get through the shoeing of horses with no damage to your back. If I remember correctly, before you have injured it helping with contrary horses.

Tami, thanks for the coffee this morning, I need it to try to stay awake for a couple hours at least today.

Suzy, sorry that driving Alie kept you from coffee with friends. Next week a possibility??

Did I say I at last got a floor plan for the apartment at Episcopal Place? Oh I will have to get rid of most of my furniture, those rooms are so small. I must get creative to find a way to piut my recliner across from the TV, and not at 90 degrees to it. My sofa is to large, need to get a love seat. My bed is to large for the bedroom if I keep my large chest on chest, I may need a complete new bedroom furniture. Leaving here where I have lived so long is traumatic enough, but to be unable to have anything familiar go with me? Not exactly easy. I keep reminding myself there are many things here I will be happy to be away from. Roads that are almost impassible after a rain, roads that flood in heavy rain, dogs that get into my trash cans, water pipes that freeze, being unable to drive at night cause the county cannot afford paint to put a stripe on the road. It will be nice to be able to go to the public rooms and see people, to go shopping with the group by bus if I do not want to drive. Have social events to look forward to, pot luck lunches, entertainment brought in, classes and groups that meet. Just the hasstle getting everything done to move is getting me, and every time I try a day of cleaning, I have 2 days being unable to do anything.

OK, enough shining, just has to vent a bit, vent over for today

Hugs

It's snowing - bah humbug. I'm just not in the Christmas spirit this year.

MizT, my MIL is 82 and had been fine until her fall. Hubby and I will be spending some time with his sister this weekend - I've told them they HAVE to pick 3 nursing homes and make appointments to see them ASAP. There is no way she can go home. When my mom was in chronic care, the hospital administrator came up to me one day and said mom was no longer chronic care material and we would have to find her a place to live. They gave us very little notice, two weeks I think. I'm afraid the same thing will happen to my MIL. They have to find a place soon for my MIL. Plus the waiting lists are very long for all nursing homes.

MizT - it's sad that your familiar things might not fit into the apartment. I guess you'll have to weigh that disappointment against the benefits, and there seem to be many, of living there.
Theresa - hope you find somewhere for your MIL quickly.
Brenda - I agree that pre-Christmas lay-offs are so that they don't have to pay holiday money. It's cruel and is happening here too.
Just waiting for the onslaught of my 3 little visitors who are spending the day with me while their father goes to the races at the Gold Coast for his work Christmas party.

I am exhausted. Been shopping all morning with Laura. I did tell her it is very hard pushing a trolly with her hanging on the side and hopping! (My back did not like that at all). Laura knows exactly what she wants to buy everyone (with my money) but is not always easy to find (she wants a steam train for Ken as he likes trains, And it cannot be a 'Thomas' one). I also went to Aldi as daughter wants a GPS and they were on special today. Slowly getting the Christmas shopping done.

Good late evening all... Glad to be able to say hello...Much has been happening here revolving around Erza... nothing really bad...just busy and of course time consuming. Dr.'s needed to draw blood twice since they thought he was jaundiced and in need of the sun lamp, but he's ok...this meant two trips to the hospital; 45 minutes each way and lots of walking...who knew how heavy it is to carry a little one wrapped in blankets and clothes, in these car safety seats....my back is killing me even though we did get lots of help... My gd of course couldn't carry the thing because of her surgery....oh boy...things work well at home, but the travel thing is HARD!!!! We still have two more trips that I know are coming up and I'm not looking forward to them...Other wise, all is going well...sd and sister requested a visit and it went well...we'll see what else happens...I did notice that they came empty handed and I know he didn't give my gd any money...wonder where he thinks money to care for the baby comes from??? Haven't yet had that convo with gd since Erza has been born, although it has been mentioned before...hmmmm.
Well enough of that and on to the post ...
Heidi, good luck with the new tractor..hope it serves you well. Glad you rested while the horse shoer was doing his thing..good for you and your back.
Brenda I was so sorry to learn of Megan's poor prognosis...prayers for all will be said.
Broni...I'm so glad things are finally going your way and am not surprised that you impressed your bosses simply by doing your job...so many fail to do that today it seems.
Rolanda...what can one say...♥ and Hugs...big time!
Cyn, Happy to hear that the news was a bit better for Kaitlyn, I continue to hold all in prayer.
Theressa... I can relate to the mixed feelings of joy that hubby wasn't among those laid-off, sorrow for those who were and the sadness of seeing a vibrant person giving up...but am very pleased to see that you can still set priorities...coffee first ..then worry...makes lots of sense to me...
Miss Trica... we old eggs can usually pull things together as you have so often shown...I'm so sorry that you had to cancel your trip to your sister's, yet yopu are still trying to make plkans to observe the wreath laying...I know how you feel about that...Sully was also a vet, but please , you have been doing so much, I plead with you to stop pushing so much... Stay home and give in to the pain pills need to rest your body a lot more...wish I could do more to make you have the satisfaction that you have done what you could, in a pain free way, but I don't, but I do hope you let the pills do their work as you rest those hips , knees and back... I'm older than you so listen to your elders... know that we all care!!!
Julie, I'm glad you have found time to squeeze in enough practice to learn to play the basics..good for you during this very busy time.
Hugs and SD vibes to the rest of you... I'm outahere...know that I care...Peace!

Brenda, so sorry to hear about Megan. They must feel there is some hope if they are giving her Chemo.
MizT, as long as you are able to take your computer!
I do hope changing furniture is not too expensive for you. As long as you can take your comfortable recliner and have a very comfortable bed it sounds that life there will be very interesting.

Mama, could you get one of those 'umbrella' pushes to wheel the baby capsule or ask the hospital to borrow a wheel chair and tie the capsule into that.
A couple of generations ago the women all wore corsets which protected their backs. They never seemed to have the back problems we seem to have!
I have 'lost' my computer for the moment. Laura has taken it over to play games on PBS Kids. Lots of them are learning games. I am using Ken's.

Afternoon all,
Quick drop in.

MizT, so sorry to hear you are in so much pain... I was hoping getting out of the house would help in much the same way it helped Heidi, but it was not to be. Maybe another day... I am hoping that you are able to keep some furniture, just for the comfort of the familiar. Cyn said it well though.. hopefully the benefits of moving will make the losses seem small.

Brenda, continued vibes to Susan and Megan. I am hopeful of a good outcome. As June said, they wouldn't do the chemo if there was no hope.

June, I used to refuse to move until my kids stopped doing that (hanging on the side of the cart playing silly buggers). Even 15 years ago that was tough on my back!

Mamacita, I can tell by the interstate trip when the baby is due how much financial help Dana is going to get from the sd. I hope it's not that bad for your gd.

Alie's performance today was the usual good bordering on amazing. After hearing the introductory spiels about the exhibition (art for hospitals) , its purpose (to cheer up the hospital setting) and its contributors (children including special needs children), hearing Alie sing her song was amazing, it took on a whole different meaning. Kinda sorta like she wrote it for the sick and disabled kids as if she were one of them.
