Good Maen everyone!
TTT: Laughing about your comment re: Andy. I kind of knew that, just didn't think you'd ADMIT it!! Ha ha ha

Good News about Candy Jo. I talked to Helen last night. They moved her out of ICU...a good sign, but Helen is cautiously optomistic. I am glad the healing vibes are working!

Long night last night. Went to bed at 11:45. Power went out at 11:50. Came back on at 2 a.m. Darrell was on overtime last night. I feel as if I slept for 2 minutes!!

I'll try to check in later, will be taking a nap today. Take care all, TTFN

Suzanne, the least you could have done is brought a pot of coffee with you if you were going to visit this early.

I'll try to recreate it....
In a few minutes, I have to hook up the stock trailer, take it to town to air up tires and fill my tank, than come back here to catch (we can now that the new fence is in place, tho only tied together in places), sort and load up the 6 biggest calves. Then I'll take them to the sale barn (sale tomorrow afternoon), and on the way back pick up 44 bags of concrete (on a pallet) at the Lowe's near the sale barn (in Glasgow, an hour away.... best prices there). Then I come back, put my pallet loader on the front of the tractor and unload the concrete from the stock trailer. I can take it directly to the worksite using the tractor. That way the only time we handle the individual bags is to dump the concrete in the post holes around the posts.

I'm back from taking the first load of calves to the stockyard. Looooooong line of stock trailers backed out onto the road. Even though they were unloading fast and efficiently, I was in line a couple of hours. By then, Lowe's was closed, so no concrete. I'll have to make another trip to town tomorrow morning for the concrete. I had been thinking of taking a second load of calves to the sale barn in the morning, but the line will be worse. I think I'll wait until next weekend. This is the first sale since before the holidays, so there's a lot of animals selling. The crowd won't be as bad next sale.

Hi All, I got a road trip today. Not what we had planned, but there were meds of mine still at the rehab center, and Joy had some of my meds at her house. We met at the Ridge, saved Joy lots of time that way. I had to do the ride along, cause Christy had pledged that she would be with me, 24/7. Joy dropped off the med and "sat" with me in the auto till Christy got back.

Did I mention that I like my new bath chair? Well, it was sent here for AL, but it is mine now, and sure makes bathing esier. I can get to my toes and parts of feet I previously could not.

Eyes closing, of to bed with me. Hugs to each of you,

Tricia

Exhausted today - temp is high (mid 30'sC) and so is humidity. Also I have Emily here all week, her vacation care doesn't start till next week which is the last week of the hols and Andrew had to start work today. She's not staying nights - I need the break and she needs to be with her Dad!

CynB.... I don't think that there will be a difference in price from this week to next. Good calves are good calves. I think ours are better than the others I saw there. I bet I get the same price per pound next week that I get this week. IH thinks the prices will be better next week because there won't be as many calves, so more competition bidding on them. I believe the buyers know exactly what they're worth and won't pay any more than that. There are still a dozen weaned calves to sell next Monday, then there are the Fall born calves still with their mothers. They'll be weaned in the late Spring.

Hello, Fellow Sudokuaholics!

Great TOPP on page 310, Tami!

I realize I'm at least a day behind current comments, but will let you know that the #1 song when I was born was "Buttons and Bows" recorded by Dinah Shore. I really like that you can understand the words - and there's a smile in her voice! Popular music has certainly changed!

Victoria, welcome back! You're absolutely right, the worst part of being away is the unpacking and yrdnual when you get back! Unfortunately, we were in such a rush before we left that things were already a mess. Now it seems like we may never get caught up. Vicki, you need to decide which is worse, dealing with your Mum being upset if she isn't invited on holiday - OR putting up with the things that irritate you if she comes along.

It seems there are at least 3 "young couples" who have celebrated or will be celebrating their 29th wedding anniversaries this year! Congratulations, especially to Gail and Scott this weekend!

Heidi, I hope your back is now feeling better! What a shame that the school principal was killed in an accident! RIP! What a loss to the students, their parents, and the community!

It's so nice to see that Theresa was able to pop in! Take care of that shoulder, Theresa! I can understand how draining a pot of potatoes could cause the problem!

Heidi, thank you for sharing the MizT update from her sister!

Mama, some good advice on dealing with unwanted comments and actions!

Heidi, congrats on 4 early bull calves! I hope they are all healthy!

Cyn, thanks for the reminder about last year's flooding. Something to be thankful for - that a year has passed.

Broni, so glad to see you here again! You and your brother must have accomplished SO much! I hope you enjoy your new job!

MizT, I hope you soon feel 100%. We're glad to hear that your niece Christy is there to help!

Gail, your anniversary celebrations sound wonderful! Very clever, Missy, to have hubby hand you all his new camera equipment so that you could hand it back to him and tell him Happy Anniversary! What a great idea for a 30th anniversary party! From what I've read, there are a few other couples here who will also be celebrating their 30ths within a few months of yours!

June thank you for a great TOPP on this page!

Suzanne, I'm so pleased to hear that Candy Jo is doing better!

June, are the severe thunder storms normal for this time of year? (I'm sorry, but I can't remember from last year.)

Heidi, what a big job you had planned for today! I hope everything went well and you accomplished everything you set out to do! That should make things go more smoothly and quickly tomorrow if you were able to get it all done!

Broni and Vicki, I hope your work week got off to a good start!

MizT and Mama, my father will also join the two of you and Tami's Dad with COPD. It's no fun, but there are certainly worse things to deal with.

Mama, what a cute snoring puppy avatar!

MizT, at least you now have all of your meds in one place - WITH YOU! So glad to learn that Christy is a woman of her word. She said she would be with you at all times - and she meant it! So glad the new bath chair can be helpful for you! Sleep well, MizT!

Cyn, I hope you and Emily have a good week! Happy Birthday to Madeline! I hope she enjoys her time away!

Heidi, I hope you get a good price for calves this week - AND next week!

I'm falling asleep at the keyboard, as were MizT and Heidi, so I'm off to bed. Positive thoughts, , healing vibes and {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} for everyone!

I'm not home yet, but have been reading.

MizT, glad you are home and hope you feel more independent very very soon.

Theresa, I hope you are reading and that your shoulder (and your heiny) are feeling a little better too.

Julie, the one thing I won't be taking home is laundry - one of the benefits of staying with your mum... leaving the house with a house sitter might mean we come home to a disaster though.

Speaking of which, it was only last week I was commenting that I've never seen a snake on our property, which is surprising considering our property... The dogs have brought home a red belly black snake - dead thank goodness, but a baby... where are mum and dad??

Can I just mention an interesting phenomenon. A distant family member decides to make a couple of dresses for your baby and they're okay. At first you don't realise they were made specifically for you and working that out makes them nicer. Find out that the distant relative has sewn stuff that is now in the Powerhouse Museum and suddenly these are the best dresses you have ever seen!!

After not hearing from Laura or her Dad for over a week (when we got back from Melbourne) a phone call tonight, could he drop her in tomorrow for the rest of the week. Of course I said yes! (although bowls starts back up again tomorrow)
Got Hubby to do some cleaning up of the carport today. I have been at him for years. not all done but it is a start!
It must be nearly 20 years ago he wanted to go to USA as manager of U/19 Australian Baseball team. I said OK but would you please get all the baseball stuff out of the carport. There is still baseball stuff stacked in the carport although he is no longer coaching. (must be at least 200 practice balls!)

If we are going to get storms this is probably the most likely time of the year Julie. The last couple have had continuous lightning and rumbling of thunder.

Well, here's some unexpected news - not sure about it yet. My son has announced his engagement to Kaitlyn. Fortunately he told me before he announced it on FB which he did before I got to tell the relatives.
Don't know what to think yet, I want him to be happy and I want the girls to be happy and I want a daughter-in-law who likes me and who I like - but - I've hardly got to know her, only met her once. He's 41 next week - what can a mother do - nothing but hope all will go well.
What does Gail say? It is what it is.

Spent some time with MIL yesterday. She seems to be down in the dumps. Then stopped in to see FIL on the way home. Those days are so long when you have to go to both places in one day. Staying at FIL's place a few days a week to help out has been put on hold until my shoulder heals.

Sitting at the window watching the icicles melting. Is it summer yet?

While visiting MIL in the slow care facility yesterday, a lady came in with her visiting dog - a golden retriever that she brings in once a week to visit with the residents. It was simply amazing to watch the smiles on their faces as "Sadie" greeted each one individually.

Well, I'm off to get some stuff done. It takes me a lot longer right now to do everything.

BTW, my brother-in-law also has COPD. His was probably caused by over 50 years of smoking (he quit about 5 years ago).

Afternoon All...Its a good one for me and I hope for you too.
I'm so sorry to hear of so many others in the COPD club, but guess its to be expected... we did grow up in an era where smoking was very prominent and many of us smoked as a rite of passage or were exposed everyday to those who did smoke. Some one said its not the worse...I don't think I'd go quite that far...a chronic disease, that robs you of your life force of breath over time and mobility is pretty bad. The good part, and what the person may have had in mind, is that with treatment, one can do a lot of good living for a good while.....and we all die from something...so in that sense, she may be right...
On to pleasanter things...Glad so many of you like my new snoring puppy...wish I could remember where I found him so I could get more.. I too think he's a cute little guy.
Good luck with your calves Heidi...hope you get the best prices going.
Great reading from you all today...may whatever comes your way be easy to do or avoid, and fun no matter which choice you make. Sending Hugs, Concern, good wishes and healing vibes to those who would like to have any and all.
CynB., I didn't get to know my second DIL until after the engagement either. I had just met her once at a wedding for a few minutes, and once after they had started to date. I sent her a welcome to the family type note of congratulations after I learned of the engagement, and things went well from there. She is a nice person and we get along well..I like her a lot and respect the life she has built to bring happiness to my son...however, my first DIL has my heart, but I don't let that shade my feelings, or at least I don't think I do. You will find your way...and as Gail says...what will be will be.
Okay...I'm outta here for awhile...see you when I see you. Peace.

Looooong day, and I'm tired, but a LOT got done. It started out very early this morning. I hadn't unhooked the stock trailer, so I was gonna use that to haul the concrete. So I drove to town with the trailer (35 minutes each way) only to get to Lowe's to discover that I'd left my checkbook back home. So I drove home and got the checkbook. By that time, Robert pulled in expecting me to have the concrete. He also had a problem. He'd had a blow-out yesterday, and had a couple of other tires about to go. So we went back to get the concrete, then unhooked the trailer with the 44 bags of concrete in it (on a pallet) and I followed him to the tire dealership/ mechanic's where he left his car to get 4 new tires on it. Then we went home to get some work done. We drilled the last 3 holes, got a bunch of posts set in concrete and a few other small things. Then back to the mechanic's, where Robert learned that a front tie rod in his car was shot. When he turns the steering wheel, only one tire turns, the other is frozen. So he has to drop his car off there again tomorrow to get that fixed. I hate days where I have to run around. Tomorrow morning, I go back to the sale barn to pick up the check for the calves, then pick up Robert after he drops his car off to get fixed again. I also have a washing machine repairman coming tomorrow. I may take off the rest of the week and ask everyone to leave me alone. I want to play with my animals.
