Mama..... Our calves usually bring the top prices in the state when they sell. I started with the best genetics I could afford, and kept upgrading over the years. I only buy show bulls, and have a lot of purebred show quality cows. The buyers see these gorgeous calves and open up their checkbooks. They also produce mostly high choice beef. And being Red Angus, the beef stays in the US for our consumption. Countries like Japan will ONLY buy beef from black hided cattle, no matter what breed, even though the hide color has nothing to do with meat quality. The Red Angus is 100% Angus. Most Black Angus have a little Holstein blood.

Heidi, I found your topp to be very educational. Glad you had a good day and the calves fetched a good price. If I had those three cute puppies, I wouldn't want to be disturbed either.

Theresa, glad to see you posting again. Hope the shoulder is feeling better soon.

Good morning friends. :)
Nothing much happening here at the moment. Hugs to all who need them, and I hope you are all well, or getting there.
I'm sitting at my computer and listening to a favourite CD - Rob took me shopping on the weekend and got me new music set-up for my computer room - I'm loving it! :D
Take care everyone.

Heidi, Having heard you speak about your cow stock from time to time, I knew you were very careful and selective about the breeding and all that entails to produce the high quality calves on your farm....but am glad to hear that the buyers recognize the high quality animals and are not trying to get calves at the lowest rate they can...good to know they are willing to pay a fair price when they find the good ones. Folks who put in the work it takes deserve to be fairly paid for that effort...that holds true no matter what one does for a living, but many are shortchanged.
Judy, I too enjoy listening to music while on the computer...what a great gift from Rob...keep enjoying it for a long, long time.

If I took my calves to the closest sale barn, I'd get cheated. There are only 3 or 4 big buyers that go there to buy for the feedlots. They agree beforehand which cattle they each want, and so pay the state low for cattle. That's why I now use the one 3 counties away. They have what are called graded sales there where each animal is evaluated by a government grader, and they are sold in groups that grade the same. The buyers know just what they're getting and will pay more for it.

Hope you are all well or improving.
Yesterday went well at work, asking a lot of questions but getting the hang of it. Still waiting for a phone call today to see if I am working tomorrow, waiting on my clients books to come in so I can start on their quarterly BAS(Tax reporting), things hopefully will become more regular in the next few weeks.
Wonder how MizT is, think she was travelling today?

CynB, I think Congratulations are due to your son and his bride to be. I am sure you can get to know this young lady after the engagement, and will love her cause your son does.

Tami, I got a bit of a hint you did not want to work today. Holidays can do that.

Theresa, when did you have whatever it was your shoulder must heal from? I was only gone 10 days, feels like long time. I have missed out on, or forgotten too much.

LOVE the name slow care facility, having just resided in one for 5 days r si. Ask for a medication and you might get it in 2 - 3 hours, I can just see the visiting dog and the reactions of residents, Pet therapy is ideal.

Haad some intensive care pet therapy here. Poor Scooter, alone in her house for 10 dys, People came in to do things and eft again. Once today, I nearly cried, feeling so guilty for her anxiety. A van came down our drive, and she ran to me, jumped in my klap, buried her head under my hands, put both paws over her face. It was as if she were saying, NO NO NO, you canot take away any more of my people.

I am having to let her stay outside now, canot stop her from getting right under foot.

More tomorrow, hugs with extras,

Mamacieta, thank you for your words of wisdom. Yet again, you strung together a few words with a big message. It seems we have another elephant in the room, another serious topic, too serious for some. How bout we label the serious content as such so those that just cannot tolerant more can skip on by??

Serious stuff. Even though I know there are many stages of CIPD, and doc is not sure what I have is COPD or not, despite that the first thought that came to mind after hearing COPD was WHAT 3 things do I really want to do before I die. First one was, get a phone with querty keyboard, unlimited talk, chat, an photos. I have such a phone on desk beside me, have managed to lick me out th phone hehehe, Second was to travel from onean to mountains, and the thrid was a bit personal

Just popping in to say Hello! I hope everyone is well!

So glad you're back home, Broni! Enjoy your new job!

Suzy, amazing that the seamstress is someone special! Hopefully the recipient will cherish the dress/dresses and hand wash providing very special care!

June, I hope Laura's time with you will be enjoyable for both you and Ken - and Laura! Perhaps the storms will cool things off?

Cyn, I hope you enjoy Emily's company this week! Congratulations to your son and his new fiancee! Mama had some good advice for greeting a new future DIL. Hopefully you will soon get to know her better and find her to be a lovely person!

Tami, so sorry the weekend went too fast!

Theresa, we're glad to have you back and posting as you find time! You certainly have a full plate! Thinking of you and any family members who could use some healing!

Mama, I'm glad you understood what I meant when discussing COPD. It certainly isn't something you would wish on yourself or anyone else! It's just that there are some even worse ailments, and at least there seem to be some treatments for COPD which can be of help.

WOW, Heidi, another long and busy day for you! I certainly hope you can find a day or two this week when you can just sit and relax and enjoy the puppies and dogs and birds!

Sorry, no more time to read or type, so I'll just send along some positive thoughts, healing vibes, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for each of you! Good Night!

Good to see you back MizT, hope you are feeling better and that they find out exactly what is wrong. Give Scooter an extra long stroke from me.
I've just had some news about Joseph-Alexander (my rather big new grand nephew) he is still in hospital, but just under observation nothing is needed to be done at the moment.
Megan has had her second dose of chemo, it was delayed for a week because white blood cell count was down, she sees the Doc on Friday so fingers crossed that they have some good news.
Saturday morning (well 1am to be honest) Richard and I got home to find water coming through the downstairs bathroom ceiling. The plumber/bathroom fitter is here now as there has been another leek on the bath upstairs. This time it was the seal on the waste outlet had perished. Trouble is eveytime something like that happens the whole bath has to be dismantled. I think we made a mistake on having it built into a tiled frame.

It is our daughter Emily's 21st birthday today. We are going out for a Chinese meal tonight at a new restaurant. The reviews it has had so far say the food is excellent. The only negative one reviewer had to say was there was no music for atmosphere and the lighting was a little bright. This seems to have been sorted out.

MizT, understand about Scooter. When we got back from Melbourne our cat just came inside, looked at me and howled. (she is 16 and not well). Take care and get better. Also do those things if possible. None of us know what time we have left.
Brenda good news about sickies but with your and Broni we do not need tales of leaking water.

So pleased you are home safe and sound Suzie.
I had a good day. Played bowls while Ken had Laura, although he did bring her down so she watched me play. We lost but it was a good fun game.
Thinking of going into town tomorrow and taking Laura to the Australian Museum. A bit of walking but I am doing much better at the moment. We will go in by train.

Morning all.

MizT {{HUGS}} ... please give Scooter a hug and a nuzzle from me. I injured my left shoulder while draining a large pot of boiled potatoes. Something snapped and I've been in a fair amount of pain since - probably pulled a muscle. I go to the doctor next week. I can barely raise my arm and everything takes twice as long to do. (P.S. nothing is too personal to tell us!!!)

A neighbour told me yesterday that one of the feral cats was hit by a car. I have been unable to find it. I am hoping it is okay and didn't just crawl away somewhere and cross the rainbow bridge. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I have been feeding her for at least 3 or 4 years. I had just gotten to the point where I could get within 6 feet of her before she bolted away.

Hi all. Had fun at school today, not. Did get good news. I went on a shopping trip last saturday to a school sponsored store. It is run on donations and is only available to teachers in low income areas. They put my name in a weekly raffle and I won. I get to go back for another free shopping trip. I will have all kinds of goodies to share with my students (if they behave)

it's so bl00dy hot here at the moment. I know - it's summer and it's meant to be hot- but this is rediculous. The other night the temp didn't drop below 28C with 85% humidity - feels like 32C. It was awful but thankfully last night was cooler.
We had a meeting to go to last night and arrived home at 11:30 and had to be up at 5:30 this morning for Kevin's hydrotherapy session. We arrived to discover the physio couldn't make it.
We could have slept in. I forsee an early night tonight (if it's not too hot).

So I'm now getting blamed for an upcoming natural disaster??? Why not?

This is the end of a looooooong day. Up at dawn and down to the sale barn for the check. Had to scrape my jaw off of the ground. Not only were the prices good, but I have never heard of prices anything like this! I think we got nearly a thousand dollars MORE than we expected, on just 6 little calves! I then went to the bank, then met Robert at the repair shop, where he was leaving his car. Got home and the washing machine repairmen showed up 5 minutes later. The washing machine is FINALLY working correctly for the first time in a year. Then Robert and I got a LOT of work done on the fence, and successfully caught a stray calf that has eluded us for a couple of weeks. The calves are finally all together again. Before leaving for the car repair shop before they closed, we tried to fill up the water tank for the horses and calves (horses on one side, calves on the other) only to discover that IH hadn't paid the water bill and the water had been shut off. Can't do anything about it until tomorrow. Fortunately, the critters have other water sources. Then I drove Robert back to the repair shop to pick up his car, only to discover that there's a bigger problem than expected, and it won't be ready 'til tomorrow. So I drove him home, only to discover that he'd left his apartment key in the car with the car keys. So we drove back to the shop, got the keys, then back to his place again. THEN I rushed home, took a quick shower and put on clean clothes for tonight's Cattlemen's meeting. I had to pick up Robert again for that and drop him off again afterwards. IH just told me that there was a notice on the door of his office yesterday from the water company, stating that they turned off the water due to a waterline break under the building. Why IH didn't tell me yesterday, I don't know. Tomorrow I will have to call the water company to find out what's going on, and what we have to do. I am taking tomorrow off, other than returning Robert to his car once they tell him it's safe to drive again. I want to spend tomorrow on the floor playing with the puppies.

Afternoon all,
Still haven't managed to get myself organised since we got home. We've started making plans for an area for Dana and the baby. It won't be perfect, but it will hopefully be good enough. If we're lucky we have a month to get it sorted out.

We had a wonderful time in Melbourne, walking everywhere and exploring. We discovered lots of places we wouldn't have if we'd been driving and trying to navigate ourselves. We also missed some places we'd like to have seen, but now we have an excuse to go back there.

We had a nice relaxing time at Mum's doing not much of anything. Some more walking - but one end of Moulamein to the other is 10 minutes or so. I'll try to put up some photos later.

Alie has been paid $100 for one of her paintings! It was commissioned by a woman who has been trying to get someone to paint a picture of her dog for years and couldn't get anyone to agree to do it.

Just had a brief hopeful moment. A 16 year old girl from here is on page 2 of the local newspaper as missing. I read the story today and really felt bad for her parents as I've had a teenager run off and not known where she was.... Anyway, she posted on fb on one of those 'need numbers' pages which could mean that she is okay!

OH, I did get the phone, learning yet another language and keyboard. I am now open for text messages, well once I find how to find my messages,

Yesterday friend Eddie came to see me, he did not look good, would not answer my questions of concern. But in a bit, out came his rescue inhaler, then back to his pocket. I gota learn more about this, there are 3 of us on this street with COPD or bronchitis.

Yesterday was my daughter Em's 21 st birthday, we went to a really lovely Chinese restaurant, had a fabulous meal which didn't cost the earth. We were there over three hours. It is just a small place, every table in the room we were in was in use by a party who were celebrating someone's birthday.
Em had asked for some diamond stud earrings for her birthday. I was a naughty mother and teased her. Apart from her little gifts I bought her a pair of cheap dangly earrings which she got wrapped as her 'main' present. You could see by her face she was disappointed with them, but didn't say anything. I had a balloon to take as decoration for the table at the restaurant. Holding it down was another parcel. Of course this was her earrings. Frustrating for her was the fact it was wrapped up in multiple layers of cellophane, tissue, wrapping paper and boxes. When she finally got down to the present she was over the moon with them. Immediately taking the dangly ones off and replacing them with the diamonds.
