Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Brenda, love the double TOPP. I was wondering the same thing of Miz Tricia. Glad you asked the question.

Suzy, I would offer to come help you but I don't know if I would make it ontime. I am glad that Dana is coming back home. It is not easy being a single Mum but at least she will have help. Maybe she will finally appreciate you.

Suzy, if it is of any consolation to you, D#1 'got' it at 18, D#2 took a while longer, but once she had lived away from home for a little while, she 'got' it.
Do you know what 'it' is?
How to freely give unconditional love and respect, something that they had been given all along not even realising it.

Brenda, thoughts and prayers to Meghan. Boy I hate cancer!!

Theresa, nothing is too personal to tell all of you, my friends, but not the entire internet! Ya really want to know, private message my inbox.

Heidi, congrats on the $$$ for the calves. I am so thrilled for you, that your hard work has paid off.

Brenda, sounds like you would fit my family hehehe. One of the christms gifts this year was wrapped in duct tape. What ws the gift, you say? Duct tape!!

Congrats, Allie, a nice, respectable price for a pointing. WAY TO GO gf

Suzy, I am glad you were able to help Dana and the baby with a space to stay. I know this was a difficulty decision for you. Hugs to all your family.

Heidi, you deserve a day playing with puppies! What a terrible day you have had.

Tami, close, but for purists, COPD is Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Pulmonary means refering to the lungs and that part of the breathing apparatus. It is considered a terminam illness, since there is no cure. Treatment can make it a long term disorder, years and years,

OK, enough for now, more later, huge hugs to each of you.

Keep in mind, life is terminal. So if you look at it from that angle, all diseases are terminal. It's what comes before the end that's important, the enjoyment of life. Don't worry about the end, nothing can prevent it. Just have as much fun and love as you can in the meantime.

I chose a great day to do nothing much. It's supposed to rain all day. They're calling for some rain and snow tomorrow. If that happens, we'll do nothing tomorrow either. Friday is supposed to be cold... the high to be at the freezing line. If the mud freezes, we'll be able to work on stapling the panels to the posts. Each post has 3 staples holding the steel panels on, but we need to add another 5 staples to each. Then it'll be strong enough to hold an irritated rhino. We still have to take down the old fence, too. I built the new one next to the old one so there would be some barrier there for the calves. There are still 16 calves left to sell. I hope to take 12 of them in next weekend. That'll leave the 4 smallest, and we're gonna feed them for a while to get some poundage before they sell.

Good morning. I cannot get near the computer much with a 6 year old in the house. Especially one who likes to use my computer.
Went to the Australian Museum yesterday. Laura had a ball! They have a life like 'baby' dinosaur (we paid extra) that was so realistic. He put on a show, roared, had bad breath, walked around, got into mischief etc. She also enjoyed all the other exhibits. I actually managed to cope with all the walking as well.

Great price for the calves Heidi. It is good when you pick a high market.Enjoy your rest. You deserve it.
I think I missed Cyn's grand daughter's birthday. I am sure she enjoyed her day and also a special 21st. Brenda tell her many people were thinking of her on her day. I am pleased she loved her ear rings.
Hope that new job is everything you want it to be Broni. Nice to see you have time to 'drop in'.

There was a man inside the dinosaur Heidi. He must have been computerised as well (the dinosaur, not the man!). Laura wanted to know how he was able to be so realistic. She got to open the door to let him into the room, a bit later he breathed on her so she could smell his breath. After that she did not want him anywhere near her! If you go to australianmuseum.net.au they have videos of him travelling about NSW/Victoria.

Hi All, Sharing some serious discussion matters, so feel free to skip...sorta a mommy story warning....
Having read that Viv had no idea about COPD reminded me that that's true for many...it sorta made me want to share the good, the bad and the ugly of the condition many are now being diagnosed with, and that I have been dealing with for 20 plus years.I started smoking at age 13, a rite of passage type thing. Every one was doing it, and it made me feel so grown up...I wish I had known what that action would rob me of in later life, if I had, maybe I would have made a different choice...but who knew? By the age of 30, I often suffered from colds and bronchitis, life however
was full and I just coughed my way ahead... smoking almost from the time I woke up, until I went to bed. However, by age 50, My life was really starting to be affected by the smoke. It was during a time when many had stopped smoking or were trying to because the information about its dangers had become very well known, and I had been told it was adversely affecting me...9 years later I went into complete respiratory shut-down and was in ICU for 30 days, and had to retire from a job I loved. I couldn't walk across my living room w/o becoming very short of breath...life was no longer fun...sure there were some better days, but I really thought it was all over except the shouting. I had great health care, but it was in the early period of recognition for this particular disease. I was lucky enough to have a pulmonary specialist who worked with a surgeon in trying to help those with asthmatic conditions, (which I also have) and those suffering from lung cancer( which I thought I had)though a surgical procedure called lung volume reduction. They remove part of the very badly damaged lung to allow better flow of air. I was fairly healthy aside from the lung problems, and younger than many who were even sicker than I. I also didn't need oxygen as most of the others did then. It was very expensive surgery and most people died because they were in weakened conditions before they under went the surgery. Medicare decided they
would allow testing....and I was a part of medical history. I was given a second chance at life..much testing, many doctor's visits follow by rehab and I am still hear to talk about it...I have bad times still...but none like I used to have..I am limited somewhat in walking distances and other miner details...but life is fun and I remain independent as I approach my 76th birthday...so yes, COPD is terminal...however, That's life!
Cyn has made me think that while this disease is pretty bad, there are some that I think are far worse.. I have little choice in how I die...my choice comes into play in how I live the life I have....and that's true for all of us...Peace.

Kind of a scary weather forecast for tomorrow. It's been raining all day today, and is supposed to start off raining tomorrow. Then the temp is going to plummet, and they're calling for an inch of snow. That means the inch of snow will be covering ice. There are going to be a LOT of accidents, and the school day will be shortened.

Heidi, leave Port Headland alone please...

Mamacita, thank you for sharing. When did you actually quit smoking as I know that just being told it is affecting your health is not enough to help one quit! I can't walk as far as I used to be able to without becoming breathless. I did manage to walk for a very long time in Melbourne, though we frequently walked slowly as we inspected each discovery.

Broni, I hope you get called in to work soon. At least you're not sitting by the phone waiting but being productive! Typical of you I think.

Yesterday we kind of sat around recovering but today we have been starting the organisation process. We have to make room to switch some things around. The office stuff is being moved into Dana's bedroom and she is being moved into the back room...

June, I will have to put the museum on our to do list the next time we go to Sydney..

lol, hubby is taking the Xmas boxes out to the pantec. He had stacked them at the bottom of the stairs while he organised the inside. The pure bred horse out there decided they looked interesting and knocked the top box off. It landed upside down luckily as when hubby turned it over there was a pile of red balls... Yep, he had to quickly brush the horse away from the 'apples' that looked so delicious!!!

Hi, Everyone! Another long day, but I skipped water aerobics, so actually am here before midnight and will try to get caught up!

June, what a great TOPP on page 311: Believe you can make a difference and you will.

As I read page 311, I realized I had already read it and commented, so now I'm reading page 312.

MIzT, I hope each day is an improvement for you! Thinking also about poor Scooter - it must have been very difficult and confusing for her to be alone except for random people coming in to check on things! Hopefully, she will quickly adjust and realize you will be there!

Suzanne, I hope Candy Jo is improving! It was good to see that she was moved from ICU to a private room!

Will be back shortly. Hubby needs the computer.

Opinion please: Dana put her phone in for repairs. When she went to pick it up she was told she already had picked it up. No I haven't. The police are involved and it is established that a male person has the phone and it is therefore classified as stolen. The phone is blocked. Dana has to pay for it!!!! They have her on a payment plan. I'm not sure what she is paying for - the phone, which they handed over to the wrong person, or the plan that she can't use because they handed the phone to the wrong person...

Should I be contacting a lawyer about this???

Hubby finished rather quickly, so I'm back!

Broni, it sounds like your new job is going well! Anybody starting a new job is likely to have a question or two. I hope the pool repair holds and the leak is a thing of the past!

MizT, I enjoyed your take on the "slow care" facility! Sounds about right! Still thinking of poor Scooter. I know the last time we were away for a few days, our Jordy "talked" to us for most of the evening when we got home - and not her usual conversation. She had a great deal to tell us, and I think she was letting us know that she wasn't happy we had been gone. Within a couple of days and with lots of brushing and petting, she was back to her normal self. Hopefully Scooter will make a quick and smooth transition! {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for both you and Scooter.

MizT, I hope your doctor can pinpoint exactly what is causing your problems. Whether it is COPD or not, I think you're right. We need to know what it is and face it head-on. We'll all be better off knowing and understanding the ailments our friends are facing.

Brenda, hoping Megan receives some good news on Friday after completing her second round of chemotherapy. Great news that BamBam/Joseph-Alexander is doing well/holding his own and just being observed. It's still tough for the parents to have a baby in the hospital, especially with older siblings at home! Sending positive thoughts and healing vibes for all!

Brenda, I hope repairs have been made and no further leaking takes place! How annoying and frustrating it must be for you!

MizT, I hope you know how intrigued we all are wondering about that more personal goal! No matter what it is, I hope all of your bucket list dreams/aspirations come true!

Brenda, what a fun way to celebrate your Emily's birthday! I hope she had a wonderful day!

Welcome home, Gail, from your wedding anniversary celebration!

Welcome home, Suzy, from your holiday!

June, I hope you have a good week with Laura!

CynB, I hope you have a good week with Emily! Enjoy the getting-to-know phase of the relationship with Caitlyn! I'm sure you will find a spot in your heart for her!

Theresa, I hope your shoulder is a bit better each day! So sorry to hear that one of the feral cats was hit by a car. Hopefully she was found and a good Samaritan took her for treatment - or it was only a minor injury.

Tami, congratulations on winning the raffle! Enjoy your free shopping trip at the school-sponsored store!

Vicki, how frustrating to have a late night, then early morning to go for hydrotherapy, only to find out that the therapist couldn't be there! Any chance for a nana/papa nap after that?

Heidi, you certainly put in another long day! But what great news as a result of the sale of the calves! Crossing fingers that next weeks' sale will produce similar results! I hope you have finally had a day for yourself and the puppies!

Suzy, congrats to Alie on the sale of a painting! Good luck getting things org

Theresa, thanks for the group hug, I am here for that! Victoria, do I understand about having to hurry and wait, then the doc or physical therapist are running late. Just remember, they are human also, have the same headaches, children who throw up jusst as they leave for nursery school, I chatted with some of the therapists while waiting for my turn at therapy. Saw an entirely new face of my providers after that. I do hope your wait ws not long.

Heidi said "So I'm now getting blamed for an upcoming natural disaster??? Why not?" Understand the blammer is Gil, but tell me abut the natural disaster, please, you are to close for me to ignore a natural at your location. Tell tell.

Suzy, only not organized since your trip? I am living in Christmas Clutter still, and using a walker to get through it! Wanna swap??

Brenda, my Dad did similar for my birthday at age 13. I wanted a certain watch, thought it would make me look grown up, now that I was in high school, MY watch came in a distinctive clam shell box. Was a lot more than a watch for a high schol freshmal should wear. NO box of a shape, no box bigger than the watch as if it had been into a bigger box. Instead, a wrapped box of the shape of another watch, I was tortured as guests arrived, we ate diner, then gift opening. I set my resolve, I would not cry. Dad got the best watch he could afford for me. I opened the watch box, my eyes flew open, my jaw dropped to the floor. There was MY watch in the box of the other watch! I did not know where to laugh or cry, so i did both.

Heidi, how many irritated rhino's you planning on inviting?? How many Gils will it hold?

I agree 100% with you Heidi, since no one gets out alive, then life is terminal.I am not at all concerned with the diagnoses. In fact, I expect a change in Dx after Friday's tests are in. Doc said Monday that he does not think I have COPD. Only thing we know or sure is that I was short of breath that day and had no reason to feel that way,

Heidi, I do not like that weather forecast. That is the day I must go get tests done.Neice Christy has 4 wheel drive, and is accustomed to icy mountain roads of north GA, it is the other drivers I fear.

And now, more of the previous post:

Suzy, congrats to Alie on the sale of a painting! Good luck getting things organized/set up for the impending arrival of a certain little someone!

MizT, I hope your friend Eddie is having some better-health and better breathing days!

Brenda, thanks for a great and appropriate TOPP for page 313!

MizT, I love the idea of wrapping duct tape in duct tape! The interesting this is that duct tape is now available in a variety of colors and designs! Thank you for the purist explanation of COPD.

Heidi, you are so right that life itself and all diseases are terminal. Very few can claim to avoid that. Methuselah was said to live 969 years. Even so, life was terminal for him.

June, I'm so glad Laura enjoyed the Australian Museum! More importantly, I'm so glad you were able to manage all of the walking and standing!

Mama, thank you for sharing the information about your COPD! I can't imagine what it must have been like (besides being extremely scary) for you and your family when you had complete respiratory shut down and you were in ICU for 30 days! It must also have been frightening when you had the special surgery and made medical history! I am very thankful that you were blessed to have the pulmonary specialist and surgeon you had and that you have continued to have a relatively uneventful life since then (hopefully)! Thank you for sharing! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Broni, I hope your clients provide enough work for you. In the meantime, it sounds like you still have your hands full with work to be done around the house!

Suzy, I hope all of you enjoy the preparations and organizing in the next month! I'm confused about the phone situation. First they tell Dana the phone was returned to her, then it is established that it was given to a male. Apparently they know who has the phone. Dana is being held to a contract to make payments on a phone not in her possession through THEIR fault, as well as payments for its use, though she cannot use it. It would seem that the company and the police should be doing a lot more than they are doing. Do any local radio or television programs or newspaper have a consumer affairs type of program in which they attempt to get these kind of things straightened out? That would save the cost of an attorney. Otherwise, it would seem that something needs to be done, as they are taking advantage of a young single mother-to-be. (Is she still considered a minor?) How very frustrating! And now, more of the previous post:

Suzy - totally agree with Gail!
Brenda - loved the trick with the earrings at Emily's 21st.
Mama - I'm so sorry to hear about the adverse effects from your smoking. I am still smoking, although I have cut down the number I smoke per day but I know that if I think it is affecting my health badly, I may have to reconsider but I am, for my age and size, still quite healthy so far.
Oh what else did I have to say? Can't remember and some of it is on the previous page. That's where I'm failing with age - memory, aarrggghhh!!!

Brenda, sec ond hand smoke is a cause, as is breathing air with industrial wastes. but ike lung cancer, throat cancer, COPD is an illness blamed on the patient. I have seen doctors tell a patient the worse news, immediately folowed by, You know what causes this don't you?? the answer they want is, yes, I know I did this to myself, as if that makes it easier for the medical workers.

. I did not smoke growing up. My father would have skinned me alive (his term) At age 26, I started smoking 2 ciggies a day, so I was not sent to answer nurse call lights while the other 2 aides finished their cigies!quit in nursing school when I had pneumonia, so 10 years. smoked again for about a year, been stoped now totally for 15 years. NO second hand smoke for same, except on his clothes when he came inside from dome,

The only illness I have ever had that I can attribute to my smoking is maybe asthma - although I believe I had it as a child but it was misdiagnosed as broncho-pneumonia - same symptoms and circumstances, getting sick after being chilled to the bone. The time that I had it badly as an adult, after spending hours in a club with very cold air-con, I was about 45 maybe and didn't have a clue what was wrong with me, suffered for 4-5 days before going to a Doc. She realised it was asthma, but knew I was a smoker and said to me - 'justify to me why I should treat you when you are a smoker!' I told her she'd taken an oath and I was a taxpayer - but not to worry, I'd find another doc - walked out and never went back. I have seldom had asthma since due to, of all things, a TV current affairs show where this man was saying that the best thing and asthma sufferer can do is breathe through their nose and not their mouth. I religiously taught myself to do that and have found that as long as I am prepared for a change in the weather or cool air-con - always having something nearby (in the car or a bag) warm to put around my chest and back I can keep it under control. I bought my last ventolin when I was in WA in 2008, must replace it because it's probably out of date. Got asthma in WA because I didn't realise just how darned cold it would be that September, unusually cold according to Rolanda, and I didn't have enough warm clothes and, of course the shops there already had their summer stock on show. I'll be better prepared when I head to Vic and Tassie in March - what's the bet they have a heatwave after I lug warm clothes on a plane all the way there? Haha!
