Broni... corks... memories
My job was to help keep Pete submerged with the yard broom while he applied under-water patches.. With my water wings you'd never keep me down. I'm considering turning my pool into a fish farm..

Just saw online, and on TV, that Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48. No cause of death is being given. She had an amazing voice but a troubled life. May she rest in peace.

Hello all, no bubs yet.

Heidi, not at all surprised by IH. 'He was cheap and really bad with money, though good at spending other people's' could be his eulogy/on his gravestone!

Tami, I'm sure IH will put on the charm for you if you visit. It would be hard not to laugh...

Bean, you'd regret turning it into a fish farm if we get a proper summer next year.

Heavy sigh. Apparently there is a Valentines Day concert at school next week and Alie posted on FB asking what she should sing. Of course people have told her to do I Will Always Love You. She said na, I couldn't pull that off so of course they said yeah you could. She is now rehearsing it. When Alie teaches herself a new song she plays around with notes until she feels like she has the right one. So she is singing a very big song, very big, but often the wrong note! Aaaahhh!

There's no reason that Bean couldn't swim with the fishes.

I hope you have ear plugs, Suzy.

Heidi, in my world swimming with the fishies, means concrete boots! Know someone we could test them out on.

So do I. I did threaten him with a similar fate tonight. He had taken $200 worth of custom ear tags for the calves that I had specially made up. He wanted to use them for his business, and give some to a friend of his. I have most of them back now (all but 3), and he got a serious screaming at/ lecture/ tirade about his behavior. I have a headache now, and am going to bed.

No ear plugs, we shut doors and windows and turn the TV up...

Heidi, what a stinker! As usual. I'm glad you got most of them back. I wonder what he has planned for the 3 he refused to give up. Something that will make him look like a good guy I'm sure. I really think you would be forgiven for breaking promises here. Nobody is meant to spend their whole lives having to watch their back all the time. One day you will know you deserve a whole lot better and move on.

Just popping in for a quick read. We have had a couple of busy days!

Heidi, thanks for explaining how Native Americans think of items made for a purpose. Very interesting! I hope the borrowed/formerly owned tractor performs all the duties you request of it! I'm glad you had a nice birthday dinner with good company. Boy, IH sure got off the hook when the guests offered to pay. The fact that you didn't even get a card is not surprising to me, unfortunately. Hooray for IH being away, and hooray for a little more feeling in your tongue!

Broni, good for getting your eyes checked, good for getting your hair beautiful! BAD pool to spring a leak, requiring you to be in the water and your hair being subjected to said water! Not fun at all, though if you emptied the champagne bottle to get the cork, there might have been a wee bit of fun.

V Viv, keeping fingers crossed that you get some results that can be easily treated to provide much-needed pain relief!

Suzy, so glad Alie had a fun day with bf! They seem to have been blessed with good luck at many turns during their day together. I hope Dana doesn't become more grouchy, though it's understandable. Just no fun for you to have to deal with it!

MizT, so sorry to hear that your computer is not well, but glad you have an alternate to use, though it's not comfortable for you to use. At least we get to see a brief up-to-date message from you! I hope you are continuing to feel better!

Tami, I'm glad the Saturday school session this morning went well! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Rolanda, I hope you have more days that are a bit cooler! Enjoy them when you have them! How is your Mum doing?

Great to see you visit, Bean! I hope you can continue on a regular basis!

RIP, Whitney Houston, a big talent but with many demons. Thanks for letting us know, Tami!

Mama, I hope you are feeling better! The same for others who are under the weather!

Heidi, I can't imagine what IH planned to do with the custom ear tags for the calves. Does he ever think of anyone other than himself and what will make him look good?

Bean, I hope you got all of your ffuts done!

Suzy, what an interesting suggestion for an epitaph! Very clever!

I really must head to bed! So nice to drop by and see comments from so many! I've thought of all of you, even if I haven't mentioned you! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers and for all!

Another storm went through this afternoon. Fortunately we did not get the worst of it. I think you got one too Suzy.
Found some lovely flanelette at the bottom of my material box (One of them), made it up and when I went to iron it found it had a dirty crease mark. Anyway it is now soaking so I hope it comes out OK.
Got a few things done this afternoon but had down loaded a good book on my Kindle and read more than I should have.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself. It is a chilly morning here. Temps in the upper 40's (8-9c) with a high in the 60's (18 c or so). We are able to turn off the AC and open the windows again. We don't get really cold winters, just a few good cold days, but this year has been really mild.

Good Morning friends. I have read and caught up with the posts, so am almost to the end of my endurance here. Maybe i should take a break and come back?

Suzy, know your family is all awaiting the new baby. Hope the wait time passes quickly for you. Why not get Dana to keep q short journal, What I did while waiting for you. perhaps she could give to the baby when it grows up.

June, I hope you found the grasshopper.

Tami, I would welcome your 40-60* F temps! We will barely make the 40's for a high today, had 23* F for a low. My heat just cannot keep up. I lit the kerosine heater last night. I was outside qt 7:30 am refilling the fuel tank, it was a bit cold with the wind chill of 17. As it warms today, and the sun hits my house, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO TURN IT OFF FOR A GOOD PERT OF THE DAY. Forgive caps, I hate this keyboard! I am typing 2 to 6 typos per line of typing, just too much to correct the caps too.

June, did the materiel come clean? What did you make from it?

Heidi, just what did Gil want with your ear tags?

OK, enough of this , spending more time correcting than typing. Did I MENTION i hate this keyboard? I typo every letter A, and hit cap locks insteqd of shift, Do you know how many words have an A in them?

Heidi, thank you for phoning to check on me yesterday. I did enjoy our conversation.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till I return.

IH had already put 3 of them in some calves belonging to a friend, on the friend's farm, that he needed to identify for a rare worm for his business. IH considers me a free source of all supplies for his business. I am not a part of his business, and I do not feel that I should have to pay for all of his supplies. Besides, custom made ear tags are a lot more expensive than tags off the shelf at the farm store. Farm store tags are either blank, or go from 1 to 200. If you want higher numbers, you have to go through a company that custom makes them, and they have printing charges and shipping charges which almost double the price.

Congrats on the weight loss, V Viv!!! How'd you do it? I still need to lose the 100 lbs I gained when I foolishly quit smoking when I was laid up with a broken leg. (I couldn't go to the store to buy more cigarettes.) With my back, I can't exercise a lot.

I have a real shocker to tell everybody about. IH called me to tell me that a friend of ours, who had a severe injury a few years ago, and has been in and out of a coma since, has just had to be rushed to the hospital again. It may be the end. He's a well known sheep breeder in the States, and they've just started lambing. IH has OFFERED to go to their farm and supervise lambing for them. The wife is obviously at the hospital with her husband.

Thoughts for your friend Heidi. A hard time for the family.
The kookaburras were diving in the pool at the house behind us. Saw me in the back yard and came (4 of them) for a feed. One was a youngster and eyed me off before eating the steak (which I had to thaw).
Hubby is at a working bee at the bowling club. I should be there too but I had too much to do at home. I do wish Hubby would have a 'working bee' at home and get rid of forty years of baseball crap! I could also do with some work done in the garden, or windows cleaned etc etc.

My city slicker BIL has been staying with us for the past two nights (he left this morning) and he was amazed at the kookaburras! He was gobsmacked to see them in the trees near the house, so I asked him if he would like me to bring them in closer. I knocked on the balcony and within seconds one came down waiting to be fed. I told him that I could hand feed it and would he like to see that. Got some old roast meat and started feeding it and next thing there were 8 sitting there!

Today is Hannah's first day in her art course. She managed to get herself up and walking out the door by 6.50 this morning to get to the bus. She has a 1hr40min commute each way. I offered to drive her to the bus (20min walk) but she said she wanted to start the right way. This from the kid who would happily spend her life asleep!
I am so proud of her ♥

I gave the club an hour of cleaning time. It is also our trading table tomorrow so I will have to make some cakes later.
Tami if you go to my page there are two kookaburras eating meat on the table in my back yard. Like Gail I can get up to 8 or 9 sometimes. Before we put the sunroom on they used to fly down and sit at the kitchen window so that I could open the window and feed them. If I did not shut the window properly the lorikeets used to squeeze in and get into the fruit bowl.
Tricia, I was sewing two pieces of flannelette together to make a baby rug. It is now washed and looks like new.
