My mother used to tell me that my father's birthday was Feb. 29th. It wasn't until I finally started to have a relationship with that sweet man that I found out that it was the 27th, not the 29th.

That wasn't my idea of a TOPP. I'll just repeat my quote from earlier.....

Going to church doesn't make you a Christian, just like going into a garage doesn't make you a car.

I'm baaaack....

Cyn, so glad you're back!

Heidi, I'm betting Dana eventually has her baby in the middle of the night too. What fantastic news about the new tractor. It sounds like they should too! Leaving those bolts loose would do permanent damage. Hopefully they will double check the new one before you get it. You are exactly right about Gil - going to church....

Vicki, good luck finding just the right bed for the room!

Tami, I bought post cards during the week. I was going to mail them today but other things got in the way...

Mamacita, is your quiet house because your grandie has a place of her own or was it just a well deserved (and enjoyed) temporary break?
MizT, sooo happy to read that you felt better today (though I think it is yesterday now), and very productive too. Did you get your chicken gumbo or stew? Hubby talked about making chicken and dumplings but the girls don't like them... :(

June, I haven't had Tia Maria since I was in my 20's. I'd love a trip down memory lane as I know I used to like it.

Our day....

Every time we go to the hospital they keep Dana there for ages. This time she was on the monitor and the baby's pulse dropped to about 50. After 2 or 3 minutes it came back up to normal. The baby is considered to be 'high risk', I think because Dana fundus height is so small, but also because she is so young. (Who knows what happened during the first 7 months of the pregnancy?)

She was on the monitor for another couple of hours and then moved into a room to wait for the doc. And wait for the doc. And wait for the doc. The nurses put her on the monitor again and all was good. Dana was about to chew her own arm off (she was on nil by mouth in case the doc wanted to do an emergency C section) when he finally showed up. He had access to the ultrasound results and said there was plenty of fluid (Dana is getting adequate nutrition), and good blood flow through the umbilical cord (the baby is getting her fair share) so this baby must just be meant to be really small. And as for the drop in pulse, the baby either lay on or grabbed the umbilical cord!! Little devil.

Greetings to each and every one of you! It's later than I thought, and my back is protesting, so I'm not going to stay here long tonight.

June, I'm amazed at your list of postcards! You have family and friends who enjoy traveling, it seems! I love the idea of purple glasses! My glasses from the ophthalmologist are boring black. I have a couple pairs of "reading glasses" purchased from a book store, I think, that have floral plastic frames. (Until all of the grandies are older, it's safer to use inexpensive glasses when we visit them. The really enjoy "helping" take the glasses out of the case and putting them back in, which creates a lot of wear and tear.)

Broni, what fun! You also got glasses with purple frames!

And Viv hopes to get purple frames on her next glasses!

Suzy also likes purple frames!

Vicki, have you thought about what color frames you hope to get when you next go to the optometrist?

Since I'm only reading to the bottom of page 343, I only know that Heidi was playing hide and seek with a cow who wanted privacy for the birth of her calf. I hope all went well and you didn't need to stay up all night looking for the cow, Heidi!

Vicki, I hope you found the bed you were looking for! Most states here don't allow you to sell a used mattress, and many places won't accept a donation. I hope everything works out for you!

Gail, I noticed that there weren't as many entries on facebook again today, though more than a few days ago. Maybe everyone has a life?

Suzy, you may have discovered why the baby isn't gaining weight - it's continually moving. Must have a high metabolism. My babies (and I think it's true of most) lost weight after they were born, so maybe that's why they're monitoring so carefully. Maybe she'll just be a lean baby, not a little "chubbers". Too bad we can't each donate a few ounces to the little one!

It's drawing closer to 1 a.m., and I really must go. , positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for everyone! Good Night!

Just read Suzy's post above this one! Good new. Doc doesn't sound worried. You and Dana are getting to know the hospital well! The good news is that staff there are getting to know HER! It doesn't hurt to have a few friends around when you're having a baby!

I hope so Rolanda, as she has to go to the hospital again on Monday and we will be stuck there for hours again. If not, the doc she is seeing on Tuesday morning has a good reputation for moving things along if she thinks they need moving...

Sleep well Julie

Morning all. Coffee is ready, grab a cup and relax.

Someone made the comment that people find out what baby they are having today. I was able to find out, but didn't. I figured I was keeping it no matter what. When they did the sonograms, Mitchell was hiding his parts so the tech could not tell. With Dylan, she could tell but I did not want to know. My niece is not finding out and one of the secretaries at school did not find out but I told her it would be a boy, and it was.

Suzy, keeping you and Dana in my thoughts. I am glad she is getting the care she needs, at least now, and will be hoping for the best.

Don't remember most of what I have read. I will be back later after Saturday School. I do have Monday off, yeah.

No new calves last night, as expected. And no new Bub. I think it's humorous that Dana is giving birth during our calving season.

I seem to have lost a post from last night. All I can remember about it now was that I have purple computer glasses and pinkish all the time glasses. I am due some new ones in a couple of months so might have a change of colour. Is it strange that a lot of us seem to pick the same colour for our glasses.
Still waiting for news about Dana.
Cyn my mother's birthday was the 29th she never missed out and had a special party every 4 years.
Heidi, so true about going to church not making you a christian. Some of the most 'christian' people I know are atheists.
BTW I am sitting in our 'mini suite' in Brugge relaxing after a wander this morning. It is raining now, Richard has popped out to get some supplies of chocolate and nice things to eat. He is also going to book a table somewhere for dinner tonight. We had a wonderful Chinese/Malaysian/Singapore meal last night. Had a rather large breakfast this morning so didn't need lunch.

June we seem to collect spare spirits too and don't drink much. Last time I looked in the spare bottle cupboard there was bottles there from 8 or 9 years ago. We have bought 2 dozen bottles of wine so far to take back with us and a start on xmas shopping (sorry).

It sounds like you're having a wonderful time despite the rain, Brenda.
I was given a bottle of wine for my birthday (a gift from my dentist..... my ONLY gift) and even though I don't drink any more, I plan on enjoying some on a special occasion yet-to-be-determined. I have to make sure that my back is behaving, so I'm not on methadone. Methadone and alcohol don't mix in a friendly way.

Brenda, that sounds divine. Just googled Brugge and it certainly looks a beautiful city. Our only foray into Belgium was when we did a Trafalgar tour in 1988 and made an overnight stop in Brussels.

I'm having serious mobility problems today. I think a screw has come loose in my left ankle, and it's killing me. I'm about ready to use the wheelchair. It's VERY hard to do cow checks. I have to use crutches. It's a pain.

Heidi...hope your mobility problems don't last too long.
Your comment about IH's quote about attending church making him a better person is so much bullcrust!..Many go to church to be seen...but God sees all, and know those who live in a godly manner are far more acceptable in HIS world, thus 'better', than those who are false in their practices...a church is many things to different people, but when you do the right things because they are right, regardless of who may see it, is the 'better!...My story, my belief and far more correct than IH's version...and I too am a regular church goer...but I know better than he.♥

June Brugge and Brussels are like chalk and cheese. Richard and I were in Brussels a couple of years ago and made a side trip to Brugge, which is why we are here now as we thought it a beautiful city. Roads in the centre are very narrow and are a huge one way so walking is the best mode of transport. It isn't a huge city, our hotel is about 100yards from the main squares.

Heidi, seems you as well as I have medical problems on weekends, so we have to wait till Monday to even phone the doctor. I am glad you have the wheelchair and can use it, glad it has helped with the pain somewhat. I can just see you now, out in the pasture in the rain, wheeling through the mud and possibly even snow fore the weekend is over, while checking on the cows. Of course you could not get Gil to do the checks for you. I hope you figure something out. Special get well hugs to you.

It has rained steadily since 11 am, now almost 4, an no end in sight. Scooter kitty wants me to make it stop. She will lead me to the back door, meowing. I open the door, she hears and smells the rain and does a quick turn back into the room, then looks at me like the rain is all my fault. Silly kitty. Next, she wants me to go to my recliner. If she cannot go outside, next best thing is taking a nap in my lap. She is up on the computer tower as I type. If she will just go to sleep up there, I might sneak off and recline alone for a while hehehe/

I have the crutches for cow checks, MizT. I don't trust IH to do a proper cow check. His idea of a cow check is looking from the driveway as he heads to and from the lab and office. If he thinks he sees a newborn, he alerts me, and may enter the pasture if I tell him to tag 'em himself. Remember, we have 5 untagged calves born in December and January. He keeps thinking that they're newborns, though they've grown and we can't catch them.

My idea of a proper cow check is to walk the 12 acre calving pasture and take a good look at every cow. That way I can see if anybody is close or in labor. I'll be surprised if we have any calves born tonight. Nobody looked like they were going in labor when I looked at them closely 3 hours ago.

Good morning all,
Heidi - hope you get to rest your ankle with no calves being born.
Tricia - my dog is like that, she doesn't like the rain and looks at me so reproachfully as if to say - you could get it to stop if you really loved me.
June - like you I have only been through Belgium on a Trafalgar tour, only we stayed in Amsterdam overnight, drove through Brussels, into France to Calais, crossed to Dover and then back to London. Is Brugge the same place as Bruges? I'm assuming so.

That's what I thought - many European places have many different spellings. I have mainly seen it as Bruges - in fact the Dover/Calais ferry we travelled on that day was called 'The City of Bruges'.

Just got back from dinner at cousin Don's. Spaghetti and meatballs. I have a happy tummy. I used the crutches, and had to walk very slowly with them. I have asked IH to do a cow check tonight, and he's hemming and hawing about how it isn't necessary. He realizes that I cannot do it myself tonight (it would be VERY slow and painful) but he doesn't really want the responsibility.
