Morning friends, a crisp breezy blue sky kind of day here today. This is the weather I expected yesterday, usually after a tornado outbreak there is wonderful clear weather. Not so yesterday, cloudy grey cold yucky day yesterday.

Daughter Tanya informs me, her father had to have surgery yesterday afternoon, that catheter for drainage in the dialysis was blocked. She said today and until he is fully healed from surgery, he will have the hemo dialysis. I am glad her Uncle is there to be assistance to them.

I have a list of ffust to do today, as I did nothing yesterday. Not sure what was going on, but I kept finding myself in my recliner waking from another little cat nap. Of course that interfered with sleeping last night. I had a good book so not all bad. I did not even cook yesterday, I found meals ready to eat, Tricia style, in the freezer. It is so nice to have something to fall back on for days like yesterday.

Best get up and busy, hugs to each of you, with extras.

Tami (thanks for the phone call, but MizT took the TOPP before I got here)... this is just the start of Tornado Season, too. I suspect that the severity off the storms have been influenced by the ridiculously warm winter we had. I don't understand all of the meteorological details, but someone like Rayray would.

The 'flu is still with me. My body is screaming at me constantly, the fever is low grade but stubborn, (TMI ALERT!!!!) and stuff is still flowing from both ends.
I have to buck up now and go feed hay to the cows. It's cool but sunny out, with only moderate winds. Then I can go back to bed.

Tami.... I forgot to tell you on the phone that you had me very confused on the phone, at the beginning. I have a fun local friend named Tammy (she's originally from Florida, so no southern accent) and I thought you were her. Your voices are similar, tho' you look nothing alike. She and I are working out or pirate costumes for next October. She dresses up so much like Captain Jack Sparrow that you can barely tell her from the real thing. I'm going as Anne Bonney, I think. Or Mary Read. Haven't decided yet. I haven't got all of my costume.

While feeding hay, I spotted a newborn heifer calf! Still very wet, and just getting to her feet. This one is a keeper, she's a purebred.

Heidi, congrats on another purebred heifer. Had you rather have girls on your purebreds? to help increase your herd?

My herd is really as big as it should be, so I am just thinking of replacing a few cows that will be leaving this year. One, in particular, is a serious fence jumper. She's stayed as long as she has because she had nice calves and is easy to work with when I go to tag her calf. I will keep only a few heifers, and only purebreds to improve the herd, and maybe sell one or two as breeders instead of sending them to the feedlot. But overall, I want bull calves. Even from the purebreds.

Good morning all - had such a busy weekend with a family reunion and Andrew and all 3 of his girls staying here. Now the house is quiet, everyone gone home, to work or school, I did the shopping and washing yesterday - nothing much to do today, it's raining solidly - and now it's too quiet, no one to talk to. Can you believe I'm even thinking that way!

Heidi - hope you got a chance to rest up, sorry that you're not well. I love hearing about the safe arrival of new calves.
Suzy - I hope they can give your Mum the best possible quality of life for what time she has left. Still very much in my thoughts.
Broni - hope you get the chance to rest today.
Vicki - sounds like your weekend was as busy as mine. I knew JO was in town but where was he?
Hi also to Tricia and Tami - and I think Gail was in there too. I've forgotten what was on the previous page or what else I wanted to say.
Big hugs for anyone needing them, you know who you are!

Lawyer in the neuroscience unit talking with her lawyer friend: so is it better if I say, my brain is hurting so I need to rest now or I'm tired and need to rest.....okay so it's I need more time to think I can hear every word she says! Definitely a trial lawyer

Sadly I think she is working out how to talk to her husband who doesn't believe there is anything wrong with her even though it sounds like she is going to sue. Wish she'd shut up though, she's so LOUD

My favorite hospital (where they treat you like you're the most important patient they've ever had) doesn't have private rooms. You have to share with one person, unless they're not full. When I had my hysterectomy, I started with a quiet roommate who went home the next day. I then had 24 hours to myself (bliss), then the roommate-from-HELL moved in. She never shut up from the minute she came out of anesthesia. LOUDLY talking on the phone round the clock, except during visiting hours, when her whole family was in there, loudly talking and refusing to allow me to watch what I wanted on TV. I ended up with a migraine. I politely asked her, and them, to give me some peace and quiet, but they ignored my requests. And the hospital didn't have another room or bed to move me to.

Strange how times change Heidi, when I had my hysterectomy a couple of years ago, was supposed to stay two nights in hospital , I was so antsy about being there and already demanded they remove the catheter and such the next morning, the doc let me out then and there!
Yep, wet, wet, wet here, the cloud formation looks like a cyclone without the intensity...just hanging around Vicki, Cyn and me.

Yesterday a woman who liked like she was just out of surgery came down to rest in the visitors room because of noisy people in her room, mum can get a private room for $30a night more than her insurance will cover

I had a complete hysterectomy and appendectomy at the same time. My incision was 8 inches long, and I was in the hospital for 4 days. This was back in 1996. I was also there over Thanksgiving, and remember the worst Thanksgiving meal I've ever had. I wasn't on solid food yet.

Hospital stays there since then were much nicer. I have zero tolerance for loud, inconsiderate, boorish roommates now. And the hospital staff see it my way.

Greetings, Everyone! I'm here earlier than usual, it seems.

Broni, you are so busy! How would you be able to fit in "working" (at a paying job)?

Vicki, you're another busy one! You need to get back to work so you can catch your breath and relax a little.

Tami, you will be mighty busy with a roomful of problem kids! Will they be with you until the end of the school year? If they couldn't pass a subject while in a classroom with the teacher lecturing/demonstrating, will they really be able to make up their work on the computer? It sounds like they weren't motivated in the first place. (And how does one fail 2 courses and still pass the year? My one year working in middle school left me quite sheltered, I guess.

Great news for a TOPP, Tricia, a beautiful day for you! (I think we all have days like the previous one and wonder how the day slipped away without getting anything done.) Prayers for Tanya's father.

Heidi, feel better soon! Congrats on the new heifer calf - and purebred, at that!

Cyn, sounds like your family reunion was a success! Are you packed for your trip yet?

Suzy, I hope your mum's roommate is now an ex-roommate (and any future roommates are wonderful)!

Heidi, it seems that you've had a horrible roommate experience. Hopefully, it will never be repeated! Hospitals need to do more to monitor roommate situations. From what I have heard, there are some hospitals making a change to all private rooms. I can't imagine what that will do to hospital fees.

Welcome home, Rolanda! I hope the weekend was restful for you!

Just past 11 p.m. and I'm going to try for an early night. {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}, , positive thoughts, prayers, and healing vibes for everyone! I apologize if I haven't mentioned everyone, but I'm thinking of all of you! Good Night!

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Julie, this may sound cruel but they will probably not do the work and will be retained. In the past few years, they got a packet of work to complete and if they passed the packet, they moved on. The teachers felt that was too easy so this is the alternative.

I woke up to a thin coating of snow everywhere. The weather here baffles me. Two days ago, the weather was summer-like. It will be again tomorrow.

Had a nice bull calf born this morning. IH was able to tag it, since the cow is one of our gentlest.

I went out today.... I had to pick up meds at the pharmacy, and get a supply of dog food. I got to drive by the area hit by the tornado next door to Robert's place. He wasn't kidding..... it was right next door. They're still working like fury on the power lines, downed trees and major home patching. It's quite a mess.

Hi TTT!!! By the way, why do you get all the troubled kids???
Going to Colorado in a couple of weeks to scout out the area. Still not sure if Darrell will be relocated there, but it is most likely scenario.
Went to Salt Lake on Saturday to watch my friend Johnette bellydance. Had a great time with her and our friend Janet (they went to high school together).
That's about all from here, take care all!

Hi, Everybody! I hope all are well - at least for the most part!

Tami, you seem to get your share of troubled kids! (Or are there just a lot of troubled kids in your school?)

Heidi, congrats on the new bull calf! I hope you will soon be feeling better - and that one day soon your tongue will no longer be numb. Thinking of those in your area affected by the tornadoes, and hoping there won't be more for quite a long time! How are your new birds?

MIzT, thinking of tornado affected people in your state as well. I hope any tornadoes steer clear of you! How are you feeling today?

Suzanne, your weekend sounds fun! When will you know for sure about the transfer? I hope all goes well & you can find a house (and sell your current house)! Thinking of your cousin Manny and praying for a full recovery!

Bean, we're glad to see you, even if you don't have time to read!

Suzy, I hope your Mum is roommate-free, at least for now! Praying that the doctors will do all the right things to make her comfortable!

Thinking of all of our SA friends, especially those from whom we haven't heard in a while. I hope all is well in your "worlds."

Needing to head to bed, as it's past midnight here. Prayers, positive thoughts, healing vibes, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and going out to all of you! Good Night!

Well, what an interesting day I have just had...
My friend from Adelaide, the one who's hubby has Parkinson's, auditioned and was accepted for Millionaire Hot Seat, a quiz show with the ultimate prize being $1,000,000. Today was the filming of a week's worth of episodes and she asked whether hubby and I would like to be in the audience. We said yes, but hubby bowed out last minute, so off I toodled from home this morning to make my way into the city where the studios are.
Sadly even though she answered two questions correctly, she got knocked out on the third, and had not yet reached a 'safe' amount so she didn't get anything at all, but she and her daughter were flown over and accommodated for free, so nothing gained, nothing lost.
It was lovely to be able to catch up with them, however briefly, and had an enjoyable day. It really is fascinating watching the 'behind the scenes' goings on in the taping of a TV show.
Somehow, heaven only knows how, the audience 'exciter' made me a mark, and between the taping of the fourth and fifth shows, he had me and another woman come down on stage for a pretend game of beat the buzzer...what a hoot!

Home again and absolutely devastated with Suzy's news about her mother.Suzy, you have all my thoughts and prayers and I just hope they can give her treatment that will keep her comfortable and pain free.
Gail that sounds like a fantastic fun day. I have been to a couple of tapings, one being the old Blankety Blanks many years ago.
Tricia and Heidi, stay safe from the storms and also get rid of all the pains and wogs.
Pleased you got all the Post cards Tami. There should be enough there for a geography lesson. Some of them were fairly old.
Rolanda, pleased you 'goodbye' to your Mum went well. Something nice to remember.
Hugs to everyone. I have lots to catch up on.

I'm actually on a laptop tonight so might be able to type with punctuation and no spelling mistakes tonight. Don't count on it though, I'm exhausted.

We arrived at the hospital today and mum was missing! She went shopping!! Window shopping only, but it was a bit worrying until we found her again - in a shop. She is always really bright in the morning as she isn't actually in any pain yet. By afternoon she is starting to get depressed and gets very quiet and loses the brightness in her face and starts to sleep rather than talk.

We waited all day to hear what was happening tomorrow. In the end a social worker came. We told her there was one chair for visitors in a room with 4 beds - she went and stole some from other rooms. She is organising to see if she can get some of our travel expenses reimbursed. She told us where the toilets are on our floor - yay! no more trips in the lifts to go to the loo!! We also found a place where we can make a cup of coffee for free instead of paying nearly $4 each downstairs. AND she told us where the cafeteria is so we can have a decent lunch. She was wonderful! Best of all she spoke to the nurse team leader and we finally found out that mum is definitely having her surgery tomorrow.

Late in the afternoon we got a call from the doctor's office and he is going to meet us for a talk mid morning tomorrow. No news about what, which is kind of a worry, but at least we get to talk to him.

I have read all of your posts and wish I had it in me to comment in the way they deserve. Please know that I think about you all of the time...

Suzy, don't worry about answering posts. Just let us know how things are with you and your mum. We know you care, but you need to focus your energy on your mum right now. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts.

Julie, I teach in an inner city school. We have a lot of troubled kids. Most are pretty good, just come from bad situations.
