Life has no smooth road for any of us; and in the bracing atmosphere of a high aim the very roughness stimulates the climber to steadier steps, till the legend, over steep ways to the stars, fulfills itself.

Dylan had a baseball game last night. At his last at bat, he jammed his pinky finger (he does not know how). When he got back to the dugout, he put ice on it and sat out the next inning. This morning it looked swollen, but otherwise ok. When I got home from school, he had a black and blue mark on his hand. I took him for xrays and he has a fractured hand. They put him in a soft cast. I have to take him to the orthopedic tomorrow for a proper cast. Good thing there is no school tomorrow.

I remember when I was a kid, and I broke something, the doc took x-rays and put a cast on it. When did it start that every broken bone require a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon?

So did I Heidi, but his sale fell thru and no contract, figured his deposit was good enough for me. At least it will pay for the insurance and rego for the next year.

Broni, bugger bugger bugger bum. Some roads seem steeper and rougher than others.

Tami, gentle hugs for Dylan. How brave he must be!

Heidi, orthopods do it here too.

Cyn I often read and don't post.
It is enough to just immerse myself in everyones posts and feel the love... and then there are the occasions where you cannot shut me up.. less often now before I tend to fall asleep evrytime I sit down at the moment. Yes Julie.. a very difficult combo to deal with..

Tami when Lachie was in primary school the fracture didn't show up on the first xray. The subsequent xray [continued pain and loss of use] showed up the calcium deposits as the bone tried to knit and heal itself. Alignment was checked after plastering and luckily it was also his Left. Funny thing was he had a relief teacher and the other kids spoke up and told the teacher that he was left handed and couldn't write...
Heidi I agree with Broni's comments.

The cops are parked on the corner stopping just about every car that goes past. I wonder how I'm going to go when I try to drive out with my car loaded to the roof???

Good Evening, dear Friends!

Whether you celebrate Easter or Passover, or just a normal weekend, I hope all of you have time to rest and recuperate and enjoy family (if you choose) and some good food!

Hooray for June and winning at bowls!

Suzy, I hope you had a restful day and a safe drive home!

Heidi, I can't imagine sleeping with a bed-full of wet collies. Sometimes it's even hard to sleep with 1 cat coming and going during the wee hours. Welcome to your 2 "new" elder dogs.

Rolanda, welcome home to Robert!

Heidi, I'm sorry the horses were less than cooperative.

Brenda (& Richard), welcome to your beautiful new grandie! Congratulations!

Wonderful TOPP, Suzy!

Broni, I'm so sorry the boat sale fell through. There will be another buyer, but in the meantime, focus on other (hopefully less stressful) parts of your life.

Tami, poor Dylan! I hope he's feeling OK! We have had that with our Ds. Once about 3 weeks passes before a subsequent X-ray showed the calcification and the doctor could confirm the break. Fortunately, during that time, they treated it as if it were broken, though with a "removable" cast.

Suzy, safe travels on your way home!

Happy Easter (or Happy Non-Easter) to everyone!

{{{{{HUGS}}}}}, prayers, positive thoughts, healing vibes, for All !

I posted underneath

Note to self: unfriend boys who call girls skanks

Unfortunately 4 people have liked his status so far.

Broni - that's a bummer about the boat!
Suzy - I totally agree that 'skank' is a dreadful thing to call a girl (as is 'ho' and all of the others) - completely unnecessary.

Well Andrew and Emily have left - he took the last of their stuff to the new place today. Then, Good Friday or not, we started by vacuuming the floors, that stretched to so much work, you could call it a spring clean - in autumn. Not that they were so messy just kept finding more things to do.
I'll miss them but it's nice to have my house back and some peace and quiet.

Cyn, I know you'll miss them too, while enjoying your peace and quiet of course. I kept finding things to do here but on Wednesday decided it didn't matter what I found I wasn't doing anything more than I had already decided to do.

I want to go to bed now, but I'm worried about Neighbour getting home from the pub. He's fine until he has one beer, then he's off.

Broni, bummer about the boat. Hope another buyer comes along soon.
Cyn, understand how you feel about having your home back.
We had a nice lunch and Laura gave be a Bilby Easter chocolate. (A bilby is a threatened native animal that looks a bit similar to a rabbit)
Sorry about Dylan's hand Tami. I guess that will be the end of baseball for a few weeks.(and this is the beginning of the season?)

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.
Have to call the doctor in a few minutes to get an appointmnt. The place I took him to is an urgent care. Good for minor stuff but not the same as an emergency room. The x-rays showed the fracture is near the growth plate so there is a little extra concern due to his age. The doctor called it a "boxer's fracture" as it is more common in people who punch things. She can not figure out how Dylan did this playing baseball. He is not sure exactly what happened. All he knows is he got a base hit and due to throwing errors it was a triple. He was able to score on a pitcher's balk so he was happy.

Broni, sorry about the boat. I hope you find a buyer soon.

Suzy, I agree about "skank."

Bean, might have to join you for Confest. Not sure about the nekkid part but the rest sounds fun.

Have read the posts, but don't remember much. Be back later. Have a great day.

Got him an appt. at 11:30. Mitchell is trying to scare him by telling him what happened when he broke his arm. Luckily Dylan is not falling for it. Older brothers must mess with younger brothers. I think it is in the job description.

Terms for other human beings, like "skank" are so demeaning and dehumanizing. That young man needs to be taught how to treat other human beings with respect. People might respect him, then.

Tami..... I've had some bizarre splints and casts for broken bones in the hand. One was even molded from PVC to fit my hand almost like a glove. Once the initial pain is gone, they all come in handy for whacking someone upside the head.
