Oh yes, Heidi - Jewel is definitely an instigator. She will bark at anything that moves and once she starts she can set off the other dogs - then she comes and sits down or has a nap - her work is done!!
I will say that she has improved with age - she is nearly 4 - can you believe it?

Today, I am sewing.

Last time I went travelling (to China 3 years ago), I made summer weight long pants, 3/4 pants and shorts to take with me.

This time I am making a couple of winter weight long pants, and a couple of denim pants to take with me.

my horoscope:
Taurus
There is a growing sense of urgency when it comes to getting your new solar year up to speed, especially with the Sun and Mercury both leaving your sign next week and Jupiter in less than 4 weeks time, but at the same time a growing sense of confidence as well. Despite the ups and downs and the wake up calls along the way, you're able to see life has been encouraging you onto the path you need to be on. From this point on it's more about walking the talk.

I'm working on studying the horses entered for the Preakness. I think it's going to be a far more interesting race than the oddsmakers think. They have the 2 top Derby finishers as strong favorites and the rest of the field as longshots. I think some of the fresher horses may surprise people. I will be at Churchill Downs on Preakness day again, and will be able to bet on the race. I've picked the winner the past few years. I haven't decided yet who to bet on. I want to study their last works. And see how their jockeys are doing in other races of the day.

Heidi, in Australia you don't have to be at the races to place a bet, just hoof it down to the local TAB. Slot machines at most pubs and clubs, travelling poker tournaments now... Wonder why we have so many people with gambling problems?

No slot machines here in the West, other than at the Casino!

For me, the closest place to bet is Churchill Downs..... ~60 miles away. And Churchill Downs is still refusing to allow any other type of betting. For people who want to go to slots, etc, they have to go to either of the states to the north or south of us.

Squishy thing done and dusted - now to wait for the results. I don't feel there is a problem but best to be sure.
Rolanda/Heidi - too many pokies here in Qld/NSW - not sure about other states. Pubs, clubs and Casinos everywhere.
TAB never worries me, I only ever bet on the Melbourne Cup, so I find their location in every pub very convenient. Pokies were my downfall in the gambling stakes.

Disgusting the number of poker venues here, most of the pus have them now. We usually try and boycott those eateries. Most pokie pubs are owned by the Woolworths corp

Gail - when we were in Melbourne in March, even though we were walking distance to the Crown Casino, we didn't even think of going. Believe me that is a huge step for us. And we did not get to see whether the pubs have them there at all.

We won't be taking it easy for the next few weekends. We're on the countdown for 'lets clean up this pigsty before Rolanda and the others see it'! Hahaha.
Not really a pigsty but I want everything clean and tidy inside and out.

Did all the injections cause the bad dreams Heidi?
I am very happy with my 'new' tooth. Nice that the old dark filling is no more! I have another one I would like to do but cannot justify the cost.
We have a 'fashion parade' at the bowling club today. I have made a couple of slices for morning tea. I hope I can find something nice to buy. i do not do a lot of clothes shopping so it is nice when I find something new.

Cyn, I also have to do a lot of cleaning up. The sunroom has clothes and sewing everywhere. I will have to shut a few doors tight as there a few rooms that I will not have time to do. I do know how fanatical the Dutch can be with cleaning, especially windows!

The Italian's are the same about cleaning or so I was told on Tuesday. I had been invited for coffee to a friend's home. She was born in England but have Italian parents, I don't think she has ever lived in Italy and has only been there on holiday sometimes staying with family. There were two of us invited. After being given the 'tour' of the recent renovations to the house, we had to sit in the dining room for coffee. There wasn't a thing out of place anywhere in the house. It is always like that, doesn't feel lived in at all. I'm sorry to say my house is lived in and if people come for coffee we sit in the lounge in comfort and I have to apologise for dog hair, having three dogs it is impossible to not have any around even though the sucky thing frequently used.

Brenda, your house sounds like mine, lived in. Suzanne mailed me a little plaque that says, "This house isn't under construction... Kids just live here." I think that says it all.

Greetings friends, I am back from the morning out. I saw the vampire who took lots of blood, picked up my scripts that I could not get last night, was at the doc's past closing of the pharmacy. then I stopped at the senior center. It has been over a year since I had been, and those still there were there that long ago. the numbers have just dwindled. I was invited to stay for lunch . usually have to give a week's notice that you will be eating lunch, but today they had someone who could not be there after signing up. It was the same meal I had a year ago hehehe, well, same menu. Do they serve a rotating menu and I happened to be back for the hotdog and coleslaw day? they were not doing anything exciting today, I chatted with a couple people, and watched another group play SkipBo, a card game.

Rolanda, good luck and no "rippits" with your sewing , hope the warm pants turn out nicely.

TAMI, thanks for helping us all to extend our lives. coffee was good today.

Heidi, is this the Churchill Downs race where you get a box seat that you told us about before?

In Birmingham, you can go to the old racetrack, no live races there now, and pay to watch a simulcast of the major horse races. there is betting, same as on-track betting, the only places it is legal to bet. Otherwise, you might find an office pool, and those are really illegal but still done, or find an illegal bookmaker.

CynB, glad the squishy thing is done for another year, or do you, being a young thing, get to go further between?

June, so happy the new tooth pleases you. I do hope you find something to your liking at the fashion parade. Do let us know how it goes.

Gail, be safe, have a good trip, see you Monday.

Brenda, so glad you would not make me sit in dining room to have coffee. I much prefer sitting in my living room for coffee, now that my recliner is my best friend.

TAMI, no kids to for blame my clutter. but I too live in my house. Among other things you will find on my chair-side table is my list of exercises, the book I am currently reading, possibly today's mail and whatever I most recently had to drink, coffee, iced tea, cola, right beside it. In or near the basket beside my chair are a light weight and a heavy throw (rug?) the pillow I prop my foot on, the heating pad, AND that is when things are straight and tidy hehehe.

Back to the recliner, my book is calling me, but i did throw away today's mail, nothing important. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

My house definitely fits in the lived-in group. Both of my brothers on the other hand have houses that inspire you to sit on the edge of your seat in case you get it dirty. My nieces' bedrooms are not as perfect, but the boys weren't allowed to have anything out of place. Their mother ensured that by getting rid of anything that could be messy. She used to kick them out of the house after they'd cleaned up their breakfast dishes and they came home at night for dinner - often WeetBix or cheese sandwiches.

It's not a box seat, MizT. Every year our Lions Club gets 3 or 4 tables on Millionaire's Row. That's a large dining room (with massive buffet) with bar and our own betting windows, at the top of the clubhouse. Our tables have an unobstructed view of the track, in the air conditioning, or you can step outside onto the balcony. In this picture, we're in the clubhouse on the left of the spires, at the top.

I'm almost set for the surgery. There's still a little bit of paperwork to do at home, bit they've pokes, prodded and bled me. It is outpatient surgery, fortunately. I love this hospital but hate their food.

The dining room thing is funny though, kitchens are often a hub where people gather... I wouldn't mind that.

Speaking of windows, mine are getting to almost opaque... it might be time I think. Not today though, I'm babysitting.
