This one is especially for me to take note of, especially lately:

Learn the art of patience. Apply discipline to your thoughts when they become anxious over the outcome of a goal. Impatience breeds anxiety, fear, discouragement and failure. Patience creates confidence, decisiveness, and a rational outlook, which eventually leads to success.

Theresa, my thoughts are with you regarding your FIL. It is not easy when they can't remember. Went through it with my grandmother.

Tami, I went through it with my mom too. I have a feeling my FIL might have some type of dementia. I hate to have to tell hubby because he is going to try to hide his feelings, and I know this will really bother him. I hate being the bearer of bad news.

My FIL was always like a father to me, and he treated me like his daughter. My father was no prize and my FIL knew it, so I think he tried to fill those shoes as well.

Theresa, it is nice that you have such a good relationship with your FIL. I get along with my in-laws but it is not the same.

I had a great day with friends. Since the rest of the neighborhood is busy with parties, I 'liberated' some more corn stalks, (in broad daylight!) for the birds. I even grabbed some with 2 ears per stalk. Why shouldn't the birds enjoy the holiday, too?

Greetings to All! Welcome to youkidme!

Bean, the chicken chowder sounds yummy! You have me thinking about a TENS unit. Maybe I should also do some research.

Theresa, the heat can lead to a lot of crankiness, discomfort, blahness, and exhaustion! You and your hubby will have your hands full with your FIL taking a downward turn! We'll be thinking of you as you learn what the new normal will be for him. Good luck with your garage sale; I hope it goes very well, you sell a lot, and make a lot of money!

Heidi, I hope you have fun at the party! It must have been fun to watch IH when he played volleyball! There was a youtube posted on fb today about Freesia horses. Nearly all of the horses in the youtube were black and had long manes and tales and a floating gate. Other than the color, they reminded me somewhat of Challenger and Serenade.

Terrific TOPP, Theresa! Thanks for sharing that!

Gail, we had a nice day. Hubby went this morning to Chicago to pick up about 60 'bowl blanks' being donated to our club. A bowl blank is a piece of wood that is cylindrical, rather than square, to make it easier (and have less waste) when turning it into a bowl on a lathe. Our club donates bowls and other turned objects to an 'Empty Bowls' project (in December) that helps to donate money to food pantries. Our plan is to hand them out at our meeting and tell people they need to have a bowl turned and donated by our November meeting. We're also working on our 'Pens for Troops' project, with a goal of 1,000 pens by Veterans Day in November. Hubby went to a 5:00 outdoor concert, but with temperatures just under 100* F, we decided that it wouldn't make sense for me to go, as I tend to suffer in the heat. I had him take his baseball cap, a towel, and three liter-size bottles of water.

I've been trying to get more sleep, so will try to make it into bed by 10:30 tonight (about 20 minutes). I'm thinking of all of you and sending lots of , positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}}!

Julie... Friesians were one of the breeds used by the Gypsys to produce the Vanner horses. The others are the Clydesdale and the Dales Pony, both heavily feathered breeds with solid, steady dispositions.

Interesting intermission here. I slept earlier in my chair, now wide awake. I have not wanted to turn on oven daytime to cook a pizza i bought last week, decided now was the time. After it is cooked, will be easy to warm it in microwave when I am hungry.

hey, pizza goes well with parties! that can be my contribution hehehe

Congrats to Broni on the sale of the boat. I know that is a bitter sweet happening. Hugs dear, as you go forward with your new reality.

Julie, I hope you find the information you need about a TENS unit. the Physical therapy doc is who recommended it for me, and showed me how to set it up. she even approved the inexpensive one that I bought, said it would work just fine and it has. The only thing I am unhappy about with mine is a design flaw. It has a timer, shuts off the 'tingle' but does not turn off the unit. If I forget to turn it off, as when i fall asleep with it on, it will use up batteries quickly. I just keep extra 9 volts on hand. I will be very good, turning it off each time for weeks, then one night I will forget.

HEIDI, thanks for the e-mail, it was cute. Once again proved everyone else is just different hehehe, I join you in the 2%. hope your birds enjoyed the corn. I am sure your neihbors would give you corn for them if you asked, so you just did not disturb them with silly questions

Humm, pizza is smelling good. now i did not intend a midnight snack, but it seems i missed one meal today somehow. perhaps a slice of pizza would put me to sleep?

More hugs from me to you, till later.

Nothing interesting happening here. Getting a bit fed up with being a chauffeur and not getting time to do my stuff. Can't believe almost a week has already gone of school holidays!

Theresa, big hugs! If your nephew is making you cranky with his seemingly shallow view of life, I recommend you hide him for a while. I did that with my nieces and it did wonders for my piece of mind! Life is too short and if something important comes up you'd find out another way. I'm sorry to hear your FIL is doing so badly mentally. That must be extra hard since he is more of an F than a FIL. I never got to have a good father. Hubby's father was around for years, but he was more like a big kid than a father. Hope the garage sale goes well.

The temps forecast for parts of America are in the unbearable level. We haven't had a really hot summer for a couple of years so are probably due. Might have to splurge on air conditioning (if I keep getting work).

Julie, hope you got an early night, though your body may not remember how to sleep before 2 in the morning you've been doing it for so long!

MizT, I'll have a piece too! At this rate you won't have anything left to heat in the microwave...

Tahli has discovered her lungs and has decided there are a lot of things in her world that make her unhappy. AAAAAHHHHH!!! She also loves to jibber jabber at us.

Broni, CONGRATULATIONS!!! What a weight off your shoulders... Now you just have to find some friends with boats who will take you out sometimes so you don't miss it too much.

Has anyone else noticed the coloured and underlined words that lead to ads? A creative way to earn money without imposing as much on our page I think. If you are paid subscribers you may not be seeing them.

I have a batch of brownies in the oven. They need another 30 minutes or so to cook and then I will share with everyone.

I now have Laura so not much time for the computer.
The dentist rang to see how the tooth was behaving. Told him it is OK. Still two more treatments but the next appointment is not for about three weeks.

Wow, and I missed Broni's party for selling the boat. WooHoo!!!!
I haven't had a chance to get here for days, having Emily here means my time on the pooter is limited. I read quickly through the last few days and was pleased for a few minutes that the bird was surviving - but, alas, it was not to be. You gave it it's best chance, Heidi.

Woke up this morning feeling very nauseous. I must have partaken of too much party food yesterday. I have to take my pain meds with food, so this should be interesting.

The budgies and lovebirds are working their way through the corn stalks. The bigger cages got 3 stalks each, 6 feet high (almost 2 meters) with mostly 2 ears apiece. They may not finish them off completely until tomorrow.

Greetings friends. I had a doc appointment, a follow up on the sore mouth thing. Doc is happy that it is so much better now. I mentioned how badly my right hip was hurting, keeping me awake nights (I sleep on right side, or try to). He injected the hip. OUCH, must have found the spot. He even apologized for hurting me. I told him that meant he got the hurtiest spot, and I was pleased. When the injection stops hurting, I think the hip will be better. We will see when I try to sleep tonight. meanwhile I am icing it, the old feels good all over.

The government makes the job of doctor so difficult. I got a refill for pain meds. Because last one was written on the 6th of June, I cannot refill this one till tomorrow. That means another trip to town. AND what he gives me is not a month's supply, if taken as prescribed. One tablet 4 times a day as needed. He gives me 100 tabs. When I do the math, that is only a 25 day supply, right?? Go figure. But I do get pain meds, very nice pain meds. So many people with chronic pain cannot find a doctor who will prescribe for them. I am lucky.

TAMI, congrats on the free donuts. they are trying to addict you, know you will be back to buy.

HEIDI, hope the food and pain meds stayed down and you got to feeling better. Your absence today is a tad worrisome.

CynB, sorry I missed Col's birthday. Wish him a belated happy happy from me, please.

SUZY, I do not see the colored and underlined words. I do not think I am missing anything useful though hehehe

Yesterday and today, T storms so very close to us I hear the thunder, but not a drop of rain for us. Seems it could make it just 2 miles further west. we do need a rain.

Hugs to each of you, I am off to ice the ip again. then I need to find something for dinner. Warmed over pizza is not what i want, and for once, not a huge selection of tricia's ready to eat meals in fridge. i do have some delish chicken mandarin orange in freezer, but just too hot to heat it. I will find something I am sure. Yogurt and fruit salad sounds more appetizing.

Hugs to each of you, with extras. Till later.

AT LAST, A bit of rain falling here. Hope it picks up, we can use a good rain. My grass might go from crunchy to green. Lights flickering. I have lit a couple of candles, just in case, and put fresh batteries in a couple of flashlights. Been meaning to do that for a while.
