Hello everyone.
Hope this isn't a top, but here goes anyway.
Cyn..belated Happy B'day to Col.His co-workers are pretty miserable by taking off when they knew he had commitments.

June..my heart goes out to Laura missing her Mum when all of her friends have theirs.Tough times for you all.

Broni..I missed the boat sale party. One less thing for you to concern yourself about.Yippee.
Hope work is keeping you busy enough for what you need to keep your head above water. Hope you have a big lawn locker for all the extra gear that you need to store!!

Tami..you are busy with taking the boys to the water park & zoo.I will have a look at photos soon.

Gail..my roses are also in need of some TLC.I only have half a dozen or so, but they have been in the ground a few years and are very neglected. In fact, the whole garden needs a makeover. Maybe your old ones will perk up with the transplant.
How I wish I had more time and energy like you seem to have.

Theresa...a new haircut is great for feeling on top of the world.Enjoy your cooler weather.

MizT & Heidi...sending positive vibes for a little respite from the heat and some rain. Also that you both have a break from pain/nausea.

Suzanne..lovely to see you here. I am sending my best wishes to your cousin Manny experiencing health issues and to your friend Danielle.

Gooday to Bean,Judy,Viv..hope exercises are going well,Victoria, Julie, Rolanda and all on this site.

Greg had an appointment in Brisbane on Wed, so we went and saw Judy having chemo while we were there. She had decided not to have treatment any more if the PET scan showed it was all gone. Still a tiny bit ongoing,so will continue even though it makes her pretty sick. She is going to try alternative stuff also as the specialist said it is a curable cancer.3rd time lucky, she is hoping! Judys outlook amazes me.She WAS very down and has now bounced back with positive thoughts that diet etc will help. I am sure you wish her all the best.

Greg & I had fun (?) hehe trying to get a motel room on State of Origin night.Queensland versus NSW football. The hospital Judy was at,was close to the football stadium, and I am not familiar with the heavy traffic or route. We had to drive 50klms before finding a vacancy at a motel. To make matters worse,I drove down the side and then the front of the Suncorp Stadium where the game was being held.OMG. GPS was telling me to make a u-turn. You have got to be joking. At the time it was stressful but it did update when I knew I just had to go north.
We enjoyed a meal eventually at Caboolture and leisurely drove home the next day. If I had more time,I would have contacted Broni Cyn & Victoria but it was too rushed.

My cold is just a minor inconvenience now with waking up in the night with an occasional coughing episode.

I have a late then early shift today,so will try to hang around.
Take care everyone!!!!!!

The heat knocked me out and I slept all afternoon. It's now in the triple digits here, hopefully for the last time in a while. A few days ago I moved the horses to the calving pasture, where they have access to the cool, well ventilated calving shed. There was still a little grazing there for horses, too. There was none left for cows. Cows have no upper teeth, so need to have grass long enough to wrap their tongues around.

Great TOPP, Nola. I never plan on acting my age.

It's almost 8:00 PM and the feels-like temp is still 32C. Cooler tomorrow (27) ... thank goodness!

Nola, you are right, healing thoughts for Judy ♥
You were wrong about one thing though, I have no energy at all! We got out the yesterday, and it took all I had just to take the mulch off the garden bed in preparation for the planting! Hubby said afterwards should we at least place the roses in position, I didn't even have that left in me! Pathetic :(

My heart goes out to Laura, she has been so very brave and accepting of her life situation for one so young, it does not surprise me that a party like this is what would bring her undone. Loving hugs and strength to you little lady xoxo

I can't remember if I told you some time back I had my 45-49yo health check, and while all the blood and bp results were excellent, there were obvious dietary red flags that the nurse talked me through, meaning I had to make some changes. Her first red flag was that I skip breakfast. A big no-no! I have always known this of course, but it was my way, so I had to change that, most days I do eat brekky now.
Another flag was that she thought I don't have enough protein, but I assured her, because of hubby's past dietary needs, I am quite up on knowing how much meat to apportion per person, so I did not believe that was a real problem.
Finally, she was concerned about the amount of carbs we eat at night. I told her that most meals would be accompanied with either pasta, rice or potatoes, and she said the rule of thumb is no carbs after midday! That would mean an entire change to our entire menu repertoire! It aint gonna happen. So instead, I have lessened the amount I eat, whereas before I would have a large serve of spaghetti etc, now I halve the amount of pasta etc I would previously have had, and I am coping very well. It turns out I did not need to eat the portion sizes I used to eat.
The upshot of all this is...wait for it...
I AM STEADILY LOSING WEIGHT :))))))))

TODAY was much cooler here, I actually used the oven! At noon, we had not yet left the 70's, oh my, had forgotten how that felt. our high for the day was only 83, that felt like spring to me after the triple digits! I baked some fish, made cornbread at Joy's request, and cooked the chicken for the mandarin orange chicken. Joy will come tomorrow, that seemed to work better for her.

I had not realized just how much that hip was bothering me till it got better. I can now lie on my side, my favorite sleeping position. I got an answer on what calcium I should be taking, it came in the mail! I hate having to phone the doc then wait most of the day on a return call.

Gail, glad your diet changes are working for you. I have never heard the no carbs after noon rule, that would not leave much choice for a meal, meat and salad? Hope you continue the weight loss, I am all for that.

Theresa, I hope you enjoy your cooler temps tomorrow as much as i enjoyed mine today.

NOLA, I do hope this round of chemo for JUDY is what it takes to beat this cancer. I HATE CANCER!!

Off to watch evening news, then think about bed. good night all. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Greetings to Everyone! I'm sorry I didn't get here yesterday. We had a commitment outside the house and had to leave about noon. We finally arrived back home about 11:30. Let's see how far I can read today.

Visits from Bean, Tami, Theresa, Heidi, Tricia, Gail, Broni, Suzanne and CynB on page 461.

Tami, what a great idea to take the kids to the water park! I guess 3 adults for 8 kids isn't too bad a ratio. Were they as tired as you when you got home?

Theresa, I'm glad the yard sale was postponed a week. Seems like communication isn't very thorough. D probably thought your hubby had mentioned it to you; he probably thought your D had let you know. (Just had a couple of days with mixed communication here, so I have first-hand experience. It's part of the reason we were gone for almost 12 hours yesterday. My usual preference is to get things clarified and have specific information; hubby frequently tends to assume things without asking or checking,

Heidi, what a special friend you are to the young daughter of your friend to encourage and support her during her pregnancy! Making a visit shortly after the baby arrives should provide some much-needed help and understanding!

Our heat wave finally broke tonight. Before it did, I think the record for most consecutive days over 100 was set. There was a possibility for rain, but it apparently dissipated before it reached the ground.

Gail, it seems you have your hands full with planting and caring for roses! I bet they will be spectacular when you are finished!

Broni, I'm SO glad you will have some help with transferring things off the boat!

Heidi, I'm glad that you were able to bring Sadie back to the farm without too many problems. Guess it was good that it was sunny and hot and the cows wanted to stay in the shade!

Tricia, I'm glad you were able to remember your 'empty tummy' med this morning. I'm sure it was NO fun yesterday when you forgot it!

Suzanne, you've been missed! Prayers for your friend Danielle (has she been to her doctor, either before or after the miscarriage?) and your cousin Manny!

Cyn, what a shame Col's coworkers are so thoughtless and insensitive! Wouldn't you think at least one of them would have finished up so that he could join you for dinner? I think his strong work ethic is far more important than what can be said about his coworkers! I hope your family enjoyed having him with you as you celebrated his birthday!

Tami, I hope the zoo trip worked out well!

June, I can imagine that there wasn't a dry eye when Laura shared that she missed her Mum. I doubt that any of us read about it without shedding tears. I hope Laura enjoyed at least part of her birthday celebration and has some fun while visiting Belinda and her farm! Happy Birthday, Laura! I hope you enjoyed your special day and perhaps a special cake, too!

Theresa, enjoy your new, cooler and shorter hair style!

MizT, I hope you were able to accomplish everything

{{{{{{Laura}}}}}} So sad, but I'm glad she felt comfortable enough to show how she felt.

{{{{{{Judy and Nola}}}}}} I love your topp. Very encouraging that the doctor says it is a curable cancer. I am sending vibes... Your drive sounds very frustrating!!

Congrats Gail, I've dropped a few kilos myself... I've never heard of no carbs after midday before! As MizT said, there's dinner spoiled! And lunch would have to be brunch!

Theresa, I hope you took before and after photos! I'm glad you are happy with your haircut...

Julie, I hope your long long time out of the house was worth it and at least enjoyable.

Gail, I ran around picking stuff up today and it feels like I got nothing done. For a lot of it I was doing nothing. I have managed to shrink the piles of mum's stuff. Just a little bit.

MizT, have a great day with Joy tomorrow.

I've never heard that 'no carb after noon' rule either. That destroys my favorite dinner: Beef Stroganoff. Gail's compromise of smaller portions of carbs is a much better idea. As it is, all of my portion sizes are half the size of IH's, and he never gains weight. He's the exact same size he was when I met him. But he has a different metabolism... he's very hyper.

Saying a fast HELLO, and sending hugs. I did read, but no time to comment at the moment.

I just had to put out 6 rolls of hay for the cows. There is no more grazing, and they're getting hungry. I put the rolls in the shade on the edge of the woods along the dried-up creek. They're now having a feeding frenzy. IH is having a blast driving around the farm on the UTV. He's having so much fun that he's actually doing chores!

Hi all. Sorry I didn't get here this morning but got caught up in things and then went to hubby's softball game.

Heidi, why do I remember that you weren't going to let IH drive the UTV? Did something change or am I remembering wrong?

Julie, thanks again for the update. It always helps.

I have also not heard of the no carbs at night. My family eats a lot of carbs. Hubby and Mitchell are NOT vegetable eaters. Dylan eats most of them. I love veggies.

Hugs to Laura. I was tearing up just reading. Hope her visit to Belinda makes her feel better.
Nola - sorry you had trouble finding a motel on Origin night. You would have been welcome here - but we are halfway to the Gold Coast so a long way from the hospital (Wesley? Royal Bris?) And driving past or even near the stadium on Origin night would have been horrific, but that's the way a GPS would take you - onto the ICB.
Gail - pleased you're losing weight your way. No carbs after midday - pfffttt!!
MizT - glad you got back in here.

AAAAARGH! I feel like do-dos this morning :(
Jed was home for dinner last night because it was Grand Prix Sunday, and Hannah made a dessert that would have killed an elephant if he had eaten a large enough portion...I ate too much! All night I was very uncomfortable with that slight toxic feeling, plus on top of that I have my cycle headache which just does not go away for days. Not the worst headache ever but just there, all the time.
I have just taken the proper meds for it, finally realising what it was, and I think I can feel it lessening.
Sorry to be a whinge, just needed to unload ♥

BTW On a happier note, the roses all got planted yesterday, so we are very pleased and excited :)
Normally when we do planting the clay ground is like rock and takes hubby a lot of mattocking to break the ground, then me on all fours cleaning out the hole. Here we are mid winter and the ground is saturated! Hubby only needed to use our sharp spade to slice a hole then lift the clod which I then put into anywhere that needed levelling. Easy!

Greetings to Everyone! I'm actually here before 10:00 p.m. (I need to be up and out the door before 7 tomorrow morning for blood and platelet donation.)

Hi, Nola! I'm sorry I missed you! Thanks for the TOPP! It's great advice! So sorry you were in the wrong place at the wrong time - traffic must have been horrendous! Thanks for the update on Judy; sending extra heavy duty prayers, positive thoughts and healing vibes for her! Wonderful news that the doctor considers it curable! Judy has a great attitude; that will help! I hope your cold and cough are soon completely gone!

Heidi, hooray for a good nap when you're exhausted! Hopefully the somewhat cooler weather and the nap will help you find some more energy! A nice soaking rain would be good for all growing things!

Theresa, I hope the cooler weather has found you now! Are you enjoying having shorter hair?

Gail, thanks for the update on dietary recommendations! Oops, big no-no for me, too. I rarely have breakfast. I'm joining the majority who have never heard of no carbs after noon. Congratulations on the steady weight loss! No doubt the energy will soon follow!

Tricia, WONDERFUL news that your hip is feeling better! That should make for some better sleeping! Enjoy your visit with Joy on Sunday!

Suzy, I'm sorry it feels like you got nothing done, but a lot of 'small' things getting done amounts to a LOT of accomplishment! So glad to hear that you have also been losing weight! (Maybe it's all that running around?)

Heidi, I'm so glad you have enough hay to give the cows! (I didn't know they don't have upper teeth. No wonder those tongues are long and flexible.) Now, of only that dried-up creek could get at least a partial refill with some rain, the cows would have it so much better! And who knew that allowing IH to use the UTV would actually convince him to help with chores? Enjoy!

Tricia, aren't you glad you got the phone call and text to wake you and allow time to get ready for Joy's visit?

Tami, I hope hubby's softball game was fun (and not too hot)! (I need to ask: how is packing going for your Mom and Dad? Have they been able to throw out things they really don't need? I'm sure it's very hard for them.)

Hi, Cyn! Hope you and Col are enjoying a quiet weekend!

Hooray for a little rain for MizT!

Hooray for cooler temperatures for Heidi!

Gail, so sorry you had a difficult night after enjoying a bit too much of Hannah's dessert. Unfortunately, I must admit that I know that feeling. Congrats to you and Scott for finishing the work on the rose garden (except for the mulch)!

Well, now it's past 10:30, and I need to get ready for bed. Sending boatloads of positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, and {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} for all of you and those you love!

Another night of insomnia, this is getting rather tiresome. At least I have the computer and all my friends here to keep me company It is only 1 am, still time to get in a good nights sleep IF I could go to sleep now.

I had to turn my AC thermostat up, I got cold in the house. Much cooler outside, makes much cooler inside.

JULIE, hope you get up and out easily in the AM. donating blood is such a good thing.

GAIL, yeah on finishing the rose garden. I saw the photo on the other site. I am sure it looks spectacular now the mulch is in.

HI ROLANDA BYE ROLANDA.

Heidi, enjoy your cooler temps and a good night's sleep.

We have rain in forecast all next week, from a 40% chance of it falling in your area to a 70% chance on Wednesday. I do hope I get some of that here. I got Joy to connect the front water hose to the hose bib, I could not get it to screw on. Went on first try when she did it. NOW I can water my crunchy grass. If I do that, perhaps it will entice the rain to come? I have left clothes on the line over night, that usually invites rain, have not left windows in auto down or washed the car, other things that usually attract rain. what attracts rain in your area?

Hugs to each of you, till tomorrow.

Hi all,
Here it is 6.30 and I've turned on the computer for the first time - that's why I'm losing weight! Though I have to admit to way too much reading and pen and paper puzzles...

Gail, I'll have to check out your photos in a minute... it hasn't rained here for at least a week and the ground is still mushy! Bit of a shame really as the lawn mower won't go and the party is on next weekend - the big 16th party.Congrats on getting the work done. I hope your headache is gone soon.

Heidi, I didn't think you were going to let Gil drive the UTV - risk of him breaking it and all that...

Broni - yay!!! What a relief!
