Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Don't have much planned for today. Matthew will be with me today. That's the boy I babysit. Dad took off last week. Not sure what we will do today, maybe just go to the pool.

Morning all. Just got back from fasting blood tests. I waited an hour!!!! Now I am just waiting for the coffee pot to finish its job.

When my mom was in the nursing home they used to have their main meal at lunch time and dinner or supper was just soup and/or sandwiches. They said a large meal in the evening was just too hard for their systems to digest at that later hour. Maybe that has something to do with a less carb evening meal?

Thanks for the coffee, Tami. I really need that this morning.

Wow..lots of reading to catch up on..
One good thing I s'pose is that some of the questions that come to mind [like IH & the UTV] are answered in the one reading! Well done Heidi!
I won't make a lot of comments..it is too late and my bed is calling..

I was saddened and my heart ached to read about Laura. I am so glad that the envelope of love around her enables her to honestly express her feelings.

Gail don't open that hotmail email .. it isn't from me. The yahoo one is safe.. [Pete forwarded it to me.]

Thanks for the link Suzy.
It is in line with my understanding of this wretched CHO metabolism issue. Gail nip it in the bud before you end up with metabolic syndrome with insulin resistance like me. It sucks..big time..

Interesting link here for those unfamiliar with insulin resistance. I wish I'd been started on my current medication 10years ago before it started to get out of control with the endocrine changes accompanying menopause. Just wish I knew then what I know now.. before my hourglass figure turned into a pear!!!

http://www.medicinenet.com/insulin_resistance/article.htm

BTW..I was horrified reading through some of these signs and symptoms... particularly the one about skin tags being a sign of insulin resistance! Had no idea!!!

Good morning all. The temperature is far more reasonable for the time of year... still hot but not lethal hot. A pleasant 81℉ / 27℃.

Robert and I tried to use the auger on the tractor to dig some post holes.... it didn't work. Couldn't get the auger down more than an inch... the ground is rock hard.

Laura is with Belinda so I can bowl today. Yesterday we catered for a funeral (nearly 200 came back to the club. I had made slices and sandwiches although we did buy most of the food. I would really like to stay home today and just mooch around!
Glanced through the posts and hugs to you all.

Break the list down Bean, to three lists like we do. We update them monthly so a lot of things get shuffled, and the lists get added to. They are Must, Hope and Wish.

Greetings and Salutations! No blood donation for me this morning. At my last visit, they apparently misread when I could donate next and scheduled me 11 days too soon. Fortunately I went to the website before going to bed and discovered they had rescheduled me to the correct day without letting me know. At least I didn't need to get up at 5:45!

Gail, too bad you'll need to wait until next spring or summer to see the results of all your hard work in the rose garden! We'll all imagine them until then!

I'm so glad the cooler temperatures have arrived in much of the U.S. (and Canada, I hope, Theresa)! Now if we could have a nice, slow, soaking rain for most of a day or two, there would be hope for the crops. I heard the next week or so is really crucial for the corn crop.

MizT, I've heard that if you're having difficulty falling asleep, you should give yourself 20 minutes. If you're not feeling drowsy, get out of bed and do something that might tire or bore you, then try again in a while. I hope you were able to get a good night's sleep!

Broni, while you've been working hard for it, it may be a bit bittersweet to have the boat sold and gone. As you said, now you can concentrate on your life! We're proud of you for getting the job done!

Suzy, seems like your life has become extraordinarily busy! Remember to make time for you! Thank you for the links! Is this what is helping you lose weight?

Theresa, the assisted living facility where MIL was also served their larger meal midday. It's been said that U.S. farmers did the same.

Bean, thanks for the information on insulin resistance. I have read some, but will need to come back to it to finish. Some of the 'signs' may have only been discovered recently. Thank you for the 'heads-up;' wondering if it's too late for me and the 'handwriting is on the wall.' STILL waiting for the results of the fasting blood tests from a week ago.

Heidi, sounds like you need a good soaking rain to soften the dirt enough for the auger to be able to dig the holes. I hope the dogs appreciate that you made a special trip to get their food!

Tami, you could always try to give the beasties the dog food you found on sale.

June, I hope Laura has fun at Belinda's! Seems your day wasn't any less busy with Laura away. I hope you found a way to relax!

Gail, that's great advice for Bean! Your three lists seem to provide a workable situation.

Now, I MUST get to bed! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}}, positive thoughts, , healing vibes and prayers being sent for everyone!

On my phone, Alie has my computer again. So far I've only reported Heidi as abusive. It takes forever to get back in when I do that!

Julie, less computer time is what is helping me lose weight, it's also helping me get my house more organised.

I hope the top siders get the rain you need. According to a news report I saw we are heading into a drier summer thanks to El Nino.

June, I hope the day without Laura helped you save up mental energy for when you get her back. I find it's mental energy I am running low on, Dana is exhausting, oh, and Tahli too.

Gail, I've done most of my musts for before the party. Not all unfortunately as I still have lesson plans to do...

Unfortunately Suzy, this topsider doesn't want any more rain. We have lots of weather warnings and lots of flooding around. In the last three months, while we have had water restrictions (ie hosepipe bans) it has rained practically every day and now reservoirs and aquafers have recovered after two years of dry winters.

BTW it's raining again. I had hung some washing out, they managed to get 30 minutes of hanging there not drying before the rain started.
Youngest daughter has started work in a Care Home. She is working nights, at present she is in bed after her second shift this week. I am using this as an excuse not to do very much noisy housework well it is better than no excuse or just being lazy.

Brenda, best excuse I've heard in a long time! And I think good news for your D? I have been known to use the baby - mostly because when she's home, Dana has expanded to fill all available spaces anyway. Hard to clean them when they're full!

It's hard to complain about all the rain we've been getting after all of the years of drought. And our river has had a chance to recover. As soon as the rain stops Sydney will be draining it dry again! Why don't governments learn from past mistakes?????

It's the dogs stuff that fills up our spaces. D#1 keeps buying them stuff and of course they keep winning rosettes and trophies (more dusting)
It's the water companies over here who are to blame for a lot of the problems. They aren't fixing major leaks in the pipelines until they become really major problems.
I've just got in from lunch with a couple of friends, it was nice, unfortunately one of them had to go back to work so wasn't a long lunch.

Why did you report me as abusive, Suzy? I don't think I did any swearing such as mention krowesouh or gninaelc. Those are both topics that I studiously avoid.

I had a miserable night. Lots of upper abdominal pain and lower backache. I feel a little better now, but am still feeling sorry for myself.

I understand about the rosettes and trophies taking up space, Brenda. After showing dogs for 20 years, I have an enormous box full of rosettes, and trophies in every room in the house. Fortunately, most of them weren't traditional trophies, but instead crystal ware, glassware, silver, and artwork: mostly usable items.

Same here HEIDI, a nice rain front went from south to north, but it split into 2 parts and left us dry in the center. A lot of our area did get rain. I enjoyed the nice cool breeze off the rain last afternoon, but my dead grass is still dusty also.

Feeling a bit under the weather today, nothing specific, just not hitting on all cylinders today. I am forcing myself to do a few serohc, cause they need doing, but with no enthusiasm.

AAARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!! Katy the puppy just chewed up the remote control for my computer!! I am SO frustrated. I will have to go to Louisville to get a replacement, That's an hour + each way. This, as far as I am concerned, is the only down side to having puppies. I still have 3 months to go with the worst of the chewing.

Hi all. Sorry I did not stop by this morning with coffee. I hope you will forgive me. I have Matthew with me today as well as one of Mitchell's friends. Went to the movies today. Saw The Avengers. There is a theater near me that is $4 to get in but only $1.50 on Tuesday. As you can imagine, they were crowded. Movie was good. boys are now outside playing. Waiting for parents to pick up my two visitors.

Hi there everyone.

Heidi..you are very welcome to the rain we are having.Greg & son will not have work if it keeps going. It is sugar cane harvest here and everything stops with rain. Greg is soil testing which also relies on dry samples.I sympathize going through the chewing stage with Katy.We had a boxer once that ate all the buttons on a lounge suite while we were out.No happy.
MizT..just rest if you feel like it.Most things can wait.
Broni..lovely to catch up with you. I also have a day off but much to do. Mostly making appointments for hair,Dr and blood tests. Then seeing Renae & Judy.
Brenda..so, someone else is tired of the rain also!My washing is in the carport but not getting dry and I think we have more rain days ahead.Glad you had a nice (but short)lunch with friends.
Suzy..had to laugh at you reporting Heidi as abusive. Do they automatically log you off Heidi, or do they investigate beforehand?
Julie..luckily you looked at the booking for blood beforehand.
June..is it school holidays in NSW? Just when you have a free day,you are catering for a funeral.Do you ever have a day to yourself??
Theresa..our Nursing Home has the main meal at lunch and the hospitals here also. I still haven't looked at the site Suzy put up but will shortly.
Bean..another interesting link is on coconut oil and I think it is also on medicinenet.com. I am trying the tasteless cooking coconut oil as I am not a fan of the coconut flavor. If you want,PM me with your email address and I will send you the email I have on it.
I could only find a spray can in supermarkets but it had the taste.Found the cold compressed stuff at the heath food store.

Morning all,
We had rain overnight - of course, I had doonas on the line! (comforters, sort of). They weren't dry but I assumed that the clouds would disperse as they have for the last week. Wrong - ass-u-me!

Heidi, I cancelled my report, your record is clean! If I just go back it's much easier for me, but since I don't know what happens if I don't cancel it (does the comment disappear??) I do it. It then defaults to easy... on a slow phone it's a pain in the tush but worth it I think.

It's from touch screen scrolling by the way, I really should get in the habit of scrolling in the middle of the screen rather than the edge- though I have been known to try to send a comment to a friend too...

I forgive you Tami, I'm on my second cup already. I just had to make it myself. Not as nice as yours, but it will do.

Nola, I hope the rain goes away for a while up your way soon. Not for too long though. No way do we want to be back in drought conditions.

Just back from our Cattlemen's meeting. The program tonight was on farm safety. VERY graphic. This is a program that started in our county, with a group of people I know well, and has spread first to the whole state, and is now starting to cover the whole US. It has cut farm fatalities down 75% in Kentucky in just the past 15 years. IH nearly lost his supper a few times during the program. And he has a meat processing plant.

Another line of t storms came up from the south, NOT our usual weather pattern mind you, but will take rain any way it comes. we got severe t storm warnings. Before it arrived there was one big puff of wind, then only 20 minutes of a sprinkle! After passing us, severe t storms picked up again and continued north. did I ever tell you this immediate area is called Dry Valley??? At least the ground got damp. I sat on the back porch and the wind blew the mist all across the porch, it was nice to feel cool sitting out.

I did my short list of chores today. I have a clean sweet smelling bed. I love sun dried sheets. I put the blanket and the pillows out for a sunning also. This was before the t storms, humidity was so low, they dried very quickly and went back on the bed, no folding and storing.

I made pancakes for dinner, they are sitting heavy on the tummy now. whatever possessed me to have breakfast for dinner??

My niece's new house that is under construction is now 'in the dry'. they got the water proof underlayment, goes on top of the plywood, under the metal roof, finished yesterday. BIL is home for a few days, as they have rain forecast there in north west Georgia also. this is his third house to build. He built his house with the help of his father, then years later, he and his son built the double dome home nephew has. Now he is helping son in law build home for his daughter. This one is partially underground. He said house building has got a tad harder this time. Couldn't be the years, could it?? I do know the extreme heat is p[art of it, and his SIL is not a carpenter, brought no skills to this project. He has a good teacher in my BIL though.

SUZY, at least you can post from your phone, even if you keep marking posts as abusive. I think my phone is capable, but I have not figured it out. Heck, I have not even downloaded the instruction manual for the phone. What instruction comes with phone is a joke. I know I have a browser, and an allotment of internet time, but I have not figured it out. Someday perhaps. Glad you cleaned up HEIDI's record, we do not want her banned or anything.

I think TAMI's coffee is better than mine too. It seems to be getting weaker and weaker with fame formula for making it. Perhaps I need to do a cleaning cycle on the coffee pot once again. Last time I did that the coffee improved for a while.

NOLA, your mention of sugar cane harvest reminded me of what i saw recently on a nutrition lable. I know manufacturers keep trying to hide the amount of sugar in foods. the latest attempt I was, was a listing for 'evaporated cane juice'. sounds like sugar to me hehehe.

Heidi, sorry to hear that Katy destroyed the remote for your computer, and how difficult it will be to replace it. Tell me please, what does a computer remote do?

TAMI, the $1.50 Tuesday movies is surely a savings. you have done well finding entertainment for your boys this summer. keeping them busy keeps them out of trouble, ri
