Is everyone out celebrating the holiday weekend?

Since Isaac was a dud here, I guess I'm gonna have to do some maintenance on my tractor today. That's cleaning intake screens, check fluids in engine, hydraulics and axles, and check air pressure in tires. I'm no mechanic, so this is outside my comfort zone.

Greetings friends. It seems I typed a long post last night that did not get here. Mostly was for Theresa, about the importance of glysemic index in planning diabetic meals. Oh well, no time to recreate it today.

Roger and
Ed and Joy are coming for a cook out lunch today. I am making potato salad, coleslaw, and we will cook burgers and hot dogs on the grill. I have a passable cheese cake, made from a mix, and will thaw some frozen mixed berries to go on it. The mix is not nearly as good as a no bake cheese cake recipe I have, but it was a lot easier. I wonder if anyone would want baked beans? Just enough time to mix and bake fore our late lunch.

HI JULIE, good to see you pop in, even if you could not comment on every post. Do share what it is that is keeping you so busy, please/

Heidi, it seems Jack is making progress. I know you are happy about that.

JUNE, money may not buy you happiness, but it is a lot more comfortable to cry in a new, air conditioned Mercedes than in a donkey cart.

Back to the kitchen and finish up my prep for the cook out. I hope it does not rain, looks very cloudy at the moment. OF, if it rains, the burgers and dogs can be cooked on the indoor Foreman grill. It is good to have a Plan B hehehe

Will someone please tell the non-Facebook folks I send them a hello from Russia. I don't have time to access multiple websites on the ship's computer, so that's why I've been posting only on FB. Hope all is well with the Sudoku gang.

There is a tornado in our county right now. It started less than 5 miles from here, and is moving off in the opposite direction. Fortunately, it's going through a fairly uninhabited area, except for one town that's the center of drugs and crime in the county. The tornado would be doing the county a favor by destroying that place.

Hi all. Had a nice day at the beach. Was windy and a little overcast but it was still fun. About to get pizza for dinner. We had the big dinner last night, tonight I am not cooking.

My friend lent me a few books. It is a serious of 9. I finished them all. Numbers 10 and 11 are on her Kindle which she just lent me. Did not think I would like an electronic book, but I think I do.

Good morning good people.
It was Aussie Father's Day yesterday, and we had plans of dinner at home with the kidlets available. Hubby and I worked on the kitchen, me painting, and him doing the oven surround and the final cabinet front. As I was putting on a coat of undercoat on the new woodwork at 5.30, just before we were due to start cooking, the power went out! we cleaned up the mess we had made over the last week of renoing just in caseit came back on, but alas, it was not to be. We called Jed and told him it really wasn't worth him coming up as we wouldn't have been able to watch the GP anyway.
Luckily it was only a localised outage due to trees on line, but it wasn't due to come back on till 2am, so the three of us, hubby, Hannah and I, went to the pub two towns away and had a lovely meal out.
Power is back on now thankfully.

Dinner last night was going to be a try out of a Jamie Oliver 30 minute meal, we were giving ourselves an hour to do it including all the preparation, but still, not bad for a 'roast' meal.
The menu was a whole herbed fillet of beef, roasted in a frypan, sauteed crispy potatoes, glazed carrots, quickie yorkshire puddings, tossed green salad and red onion and mushroom gravy...yummmmm

On the plus side, the kitchen is 'finished'! Oh, there is still so much to to, but essentially it is done. I still have several cabinets to be first coated, so that means washing them down, sanding them then painting. After they are all done, I will fill any gaps or imperfections, resand it all then shlap on a final coat. There are still two bench tops that need staining, but hubby says that will get done this week, poss Wednesday. Just in time for us to take ALL the furniture out of the two main living areas so the floor can get laid next week EEEEK!

Gail, don't forget you will have some visitors on the 15th Sept.

Morning All

Busy weekend, especially for Hubby. The Kitchen Cabinet have been installed in the new abode, minus the doors, drawers, shelves and Tops :)
The Tops should be in by the end of the week, the Fabricators picked up the Templates this morning.
The doors, Drawers and Shelves (including the Bathroom, Ensuite and Laundry Cabinets) will be installed when we have keys to the house and about to move in :)

A good day at bowls. A very warm sunny day until some smoke came from a nearby area doing a fire hazard burn off.
However our team were the morning winners and we got $50 each. We lost our game in the afternoon. A fun day with a nice lunch. I had a couple of bad bouts of coughing but overall I was OK.

Heidi the donkey looks lovely wonder how long it will take IH to notice him or has he seen him already.

I was wondering why I was awake at 5 am today, until I remembered I went to sleep at 9:30 PM last night. I finished my book, was not in the mood to start another that late in the day. Seems I got my nap out hehehe. Maybe I need to find a new book to read this morning.

I am waiting for my plumber. We have no water. Last night mud started coming out of the taps, then nothing came out. My wonderful plumber is on his way on a holiday! I have a bad feeling about this, though. Pipes plugged with mud aren't good. Or cheap.

I have already told IH about the mini donkey. He likes the idea, especially since I told him that I want to use PJ to take to Lions Club camps to give rides to, and be petted by handicapped and disturbed children.

Just back from your page Heidi where I too wanted to know about what Gil knew about PJ...good idea for PJ's use...the kids will have a blast and he'll be a big help to any gathering the Lions Club hold.
Hello all from a soggy, overcast day here...not ignoring you...just need to say what I said before my mind goes blank. Broni, I was disappointed that I couldn't get the site to see your gift to your brother, but I know he'll enjoy it and be happy he's so special in your eyes. Cyn...you have started a lot of minds thinking girl...good onya!
Miz T, did your weather hold off for your lunch yesterday? I hope so...The menu sounded great. Tami, next time I'm in Fla, you'll have to take me to the beach if possible...I've only been to South Beach...not sure why, except when I was looking for water it was easy to use the pool in their community, but one of the hurricanes destroyed that and it hasn't been replaced.
Gail and Rola...your reno's look great...I know you both are going to be thrilled when they are finished. The guys are really doing themselves proud...and Gail...your work isn't too shabby either..

The plumber has been here. We now have water coming from the faucets.... but no commodes are working. Two will need inside mechanisms replaced, and we don't know the fate of the one in my bathroom. It seems that part of the well collapsed and clogged the well pump with mud. He got it partially flushed out but we're only going to pull the pump as a last resort. We're going to add a large filter where the well water enters the house, to try to stop the mud coming through. Today being a holiday, no plumbing supply stores are open today. We'll start the work tomorrow.

My plumber told me today that he'll happily work for me any time I need him, but he refuses to do any work for IH. It seems the last time IH asked him to do some major work, and the plumber presented him with the bill afterwards, IH got upset and started chewing him out for overcharging him. He questioned every single charge ob the bill and had a fit over the bill for labor. This particular plumber will come out any time I need him, even midnight, does very good work and is the most reasonably priced plumber in this and the surrounding counties.

Heidi, so glad you have a good plumber and that he at least got water coming from your taps again. good luck on the remainder of the repairs.

today has been one rainy day, The rain and something has made it a very achey day also. I have caught up with my sleep today, slept more in the last 24 than in several nights before. Still sleepy. Hope I can sleep the achies away. EVERYTHING hurts. Well, almost, my fingernails and hair do not hurt hehehe. It is strange, the TENS unit is not helping some of them, like my left shoulder. I think it hurts more after using it, bummer.

I am back to my recliner and book, at least it can distract part of the time.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.
