I need to feed and water the birds, then off to bed. Tomorrow I'm taking a cull cow to market since she has become lame and cannot wander to graze efficiently any more. The cause of the lameness is realistically untreatable. I'd rather sell her for slaughter before she loses body condition.

Everyone! I'm not sure how long I can stay, so may not comment much. I have an early start tomorrow, long day, and evening musicianship class, which I will need to drive to by myself. Staying awake in the car is a challenge any time, so evening isn't great. I may try to get a nap during the afternoon.

Jeet, the miniature Schnauzer puppy, has gone home, but will be visiting for a while tomorrow afternoon. D and SIL will be going to a pumpkin farm about 11 miles from us while Jeet is at the groomer. We'll try to grab a late lunch - not sure if it will be before or after she is finished being groomed.

Nola, thinking of you and Judy and sending positive thoughts. Continue making happy memories and enjoy each other! Hopefully Sonny, the puppy, is getting more familiar with you, your family, and your house!

The work at the doctor's surgeries sounds similar to what most of our doctors now have. It seems to make things run more smoothly and quickly, and probably allows the doctor to see more patients during the course of a day. Our primary care physician and all of our doctors through a teaching hospital have computers in the examining room. After the nurse has entered the information and before leaving the room, they log out, so that it would be difficult for a patient to 'pry' or look for information that shouldn't be accessed.

Suzy, I enjoyed your posts at the top of page 526. (I was going to say 'this page' until I realized that the page may turn before I finish typing.

Brenda enjoy whatever chances you have for time away (and by yourselves)! It's difficult to arrange those times away unless you have a reliable person or persons to help with pets.

Heidi, I'm SO pleased that your friend is willing and able to help watch over your dogs so you can get away for a few days to visit your friend and her new baby! I'm also glad that you are taking care of yourself in order to reap full benefits from your epidural! It will be helpful to be able to hire professionals to help as the need arises in the future. Have you succeeded in switching more of the calving to a time of year which is less weather-challenged than late winter/early spring? If so, that may also be helpful for your health!

Mama, I think your time is being very well spent - allowing you to take care of you, including reading a book or two and sorting through pictures. That is SO important as more and more families are trying to trace their roots!

Cyn, I join with others is thinking that the two girls will have the benefit of their dad's love and good nature, as well as bonding time for the two of them. (You're undoubtedly right in thinking their older sister will follow relatively quickly.) Being with a parent who loves them and appreciates them is so much more important than ironed clothes and matching outfits. Of course, you want what's best for them. No doubt the girls will benefit from watching you and other families in learning how to coordinate outfits

And, of course, my post ran over. Here's the rest:

No doubt the girls will benefit from watching you and other family members in learning how to coordinate outfits and take care of their clothes. If it becomes important enough to them, they're likely to ask for help in learning how to iron. They may even become a good influence in helping to maintain a tidy home.

MizT, your time with your friends sounds relaxing and extremely enjoyable! They sound like wonderful and caring people! I'm so glad you were able to enjoy a well-deserved vacation from the ordinary! We look forward to photos as you have the opportunity to post them!

June, how awful that your DIL chose to drive so near you on the way to her parents and didn't see fit to at least stop by for a visit, especially when they were traveling so near you and it was your grandson's birthday! How disappointing! I'm also so sorry to hear about your friend's passing. Hopefully you and Laura will BOTH benefit from a visit to Belinda's puppies!

Theresa, I'm glad your feet are feeling better, but disappointed that your arm and shoulder are acting up. You may have 'diagnosed' it correctly as being related to all of the crocheting you are doing! Congratulations to both you and your D for completing 48 squares! You're about 1/3 finished!

Tami, I'm glad you enjoyed breakfast with your friend and colleague and so glad you both were able to get a teacher's chair in addition to supplies for your students! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Bean, I'm so sorry a post was lost. It's so difficult to remember what you said when that happens. We know it was newsy, warm and wonderful! I'm so glad June is going to help you get organized with Skype. (I still haven't been able to convince hubby that we should have it.)

Sending lots of , positive thoughts, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, prayers and healing thoughts to everyone! Hopefully I'll see you all tomorrow! Good Night; sleep tight; don't let the bed bugs bite!

Good evening sudokuland. It is intermission here again ton8ght. Hip is not happy. I did not have pain meds just before bed, so had to have one now.

I need to go back and find the posts on doctors surgeries. My doc has 3 or 4 nurses who do the blood pressure, weight, check of what medications you are on (wonder why they bother with that, they still have a medication listed for me that I took short term back when I had pneumonia in January.) He also has a phone triage nurse, who is known as DOCTOR Jessica, she knows so much medicine :), an appointment clerk, a receptionist, and a transcriptionist. I think that is all. He has 5 exam rooms, and still he has to wait on occasion for nurses to finish scheduling tests, getting sample medications, teaching what is needed about both. No wonder he is always runn9ing behind schedule, his nurses canot keep up with him! they have just started change over to computer records.

The cardiologist I saw last year was on computer and he entered everything himself, nurse only did the vital signs. He had his lap top on a roll about stand, rolled himself on a stool and the computer up to you, started asking his questions and typing in your answers. Everything was available in real time, I really like the no lag time with that. If you needed a 'note from the doctor' he could generate it on the spot. Very efficient I thought.

Did I say last what all doc is going to do for me, to help me with mobility/pain problem? If so, scroll on by. He injected hip on Friday to help with pain and sleeping nights, as hip pain was waking me every night. It was wonderful, for about 5 days, and now getting worse daily. He is sending me to therapy for exercises. I was doing some that really helped before the move. No time for them and too much pain from over work to even try, now I have forgotten them. I am also going for epidurals in back. I think I will get one a month or 3 months, if they help and I improve, but not improve so much as they must discontinue. I must remember that as I report how I am doing, and not my standard ' I am fine' when asked, even though I have not been fine in a long time.

I will establish myself with new docs for the epidural, unless that doc I saw at Shelby spent the other days of his practice nearby at the UAB or St Vincents medical centers. The orthopecic doc , Doc G C is at Brookwook, all of 7 minutes away and it is one of the places the bus goes. I will do therapy with them if that can be arranged.

Then if all this does not return me to 100% mobility, doc will order me a scooter or power chair. He said he wants me to take advantage of every social activity available here, not sit in apartment because I am hurting from last trip down to the activities room. My sister Edna and Joy both said almost same exact words. ' I am lliking your doc more and more!' We are having to document everything to be sure I will qualify with medicare for power chair. I am sure Shannon can help with guidelin

Part 2 . . . . .

I am sure Shannon can help with guidelines on what should be addressed. So, as hubby would have said, by first of year most likely, I will have wheels under my a$$ hehehe.

Did laundry today, MORE walking involved, even though I am close to the laundry room. I put a cardboard box on walked, filled with clothes and product, my drink (soft drink, but ya know, a cocktail would have been good hehehe) I did not have a good place to sit loading the washer, it is raised and too high for me, I used the top loader cause that is what I had at home. I am not accustomed to laundromat, I think it has been 35 years since I used one, when my dryer shorted out back at the house in Forestdale, where I was not allowed a clothes line outside, homeowners association rules. friends from down under could not understand why this is so prevalent here. They were so accustomed to outside lines being required no matter how 'swank' the neighborhood was. They also did not understand why I was told to 'just let the water run' to get hot water to my tap. I have timed it, it is often let run for 5 minutes and still no hot water. One more thing on my list for Shannon Monday.

I will also be talking to her about volunteer work here for me. One idea I have is to start and maintain an online bulletin board, private membership, by invitation only for safety sake, for residents here. I figure it is worth doing if at least 5 people are interested at first. We could be of great help to each other, with little messages like 'I am going to Aldi's tomorrow, have room for 2 able bodied persons to ride along' or 'Can I pick up a couple items for anyone?', or to find if anyone is free for lunch, or a walk in the park. What do any of you think of this idea? I am the owner of 2 yahoo boards now, and I started this thread. I have been moderator of 2 more, and a very active member of one of the roughest boards, one with NO moderators, totally orphaned but still most helpful for persons with fibro. How could that be rough? Persons phishing for information, persons preying on handicapped, mentally impaired persons. I think I am qualified for this job hehehe. I will get input from staff here, but I do not need permission from them to do this, as I see it. What do you think of also allowing the one emergency contact (family or friend) access also? Instead of phone calls to say when a resident was going to be out and away from phone, a simple post here would work. Maybe a separate thread just for those posts? I know, that would announce to this community when one would be out of apartment, but that information is easily obtained now just by watching activity of person, so I do not think it would be a concern. We could have helpful hints for newbies, and I think this could really help to get new persons involved muct faster.

OK, meds beginning to work. I am slowly catching up with all I missed here on the board. Anyone know anything important that happened last wee

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till tomorrow.

As an asside, I saw that EP is looking for someone to donate an older 4 door car, good on gas, for the transport of patients to doc office. It would save gasoline, probably time, and perhaps free up the bus for other duties on those days. I would think only those in wheel chair would need the bus, if they cannot transfer from chair to auto, but we have relatively few that would need that. If they added a transporter to back of car for wheel chairs, would increase the percentage who could use the auto vs the bus. My old minivan I think would be too old, need too much work and it only has 3 passenger doors, or I might consider donating it.

It was a glorious day today, Bean was right, perfect for a(nother) family gathering. Just a small one this time, only 11! My sisters and two of my nieces arrived here at about 1, I cooked the barby and we all ate till our bellies burst. After an hour sitting around talking a whole lot of sh!te, we came back inside and made ourselves ill with dessert...all in all a good day :)

Suzy it is strange to hear you say you are jealous of us up here as we are so close to so many places. Until recently we have holidayed in England and rarely gone to the continent. We have worked out that going to Holland will only take us approx. 6 hours driving, using the channel Tunnel.
I know Australia is huge and nearly everything is on the edge ( nearly said the beach) but there are countries not too far away From Australia I would love to see. Traveling to these places would take too long from here.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself. I am enjoying a quiet, smelly morning. All three boys are out and I am cleaning the oven. It is not swearing if all I have to do is set the dial and let the oven clean itself Only problem is is that it gets smelly. I have several windows open to let the odor out. I usually do this when it is cooler out but it really needed it.

I got that stupid cow to the sale barn. She was a real pain to load. I also got a wee bit of shopping done, and have taken a couple of naps today. Early this afternoon, IH decided to tell me his schedule for the week, starting with today. He said that he'd have left for the plant by the time I got back from delivering the cow, and wouldn't be home until tomorrow night. So I did not hive to make supper for him tonight. I got back from my errand to find him still here. He decided to spend the night here after all, and was really hungry. Could I start making supper immediately? I said it would be ready in 20 minutes. That was an hour ago. His food is on the table getting cold. I ate. I see no reason to wait when he pulls this.

Brenda, you are right that we are close to many Asian countries. In fact, air fares to places like Bali are as cheap as chips.
But to us, the idea of a quick trip to Holland or France seems so much more exciting!

I see on FB that Mo has arrived in Melbourne. We leave on Friday to be among the Sudoku group gathering to meet her on Saturday, then on Sunday will get the free tourist bus around Melbourne to see some of the places we haven't seen before and home, back to reality, on Monday.
Looking forward to it, except for the flying part!

I'm off to bed very early. I need to get up early to bush hog a fence line. This is one of the only 2 spots that haven't been bush hogged yet, and I HAVE to do it tomorrow morning so the pros can get in to replace the fence that the calves have been walking through. I also need to cut power to that one section of fence only, so they don't get zapped while working. There are enough shorts in the fence right now that there isn't much of a charge, but anything can hurt if you're standing in wet grass.

Good Evening, All!

Just a quick visit this evening to read a few comments.

MizT, you have some excellent ideas for sharing information with your new neighbors. I'm wondering how many residents are as computer savvy as you are. Has there been anyone available to teach skills to residents? Of course, it doesn't hurt to offer and see how many responses you get! I hope you have had a better and pain-free day today!

Gail, I'm so glad you have had another wonderful family gathering! How long will Chloe be able to stay?

Brenda, here in the U.S. any other country seems a long way away. Even some parts of the U.S. seem to be quite a distance. Hubby and I have never even been to Canada or Mexico, though we managed to get 'across the pond' a couple of times. We don't have any plans for any time soon, though. We haven't even talked about where we would like to go the next time we take a trip.

Tami, I hope your oven came clean! I've never had a 'self-cleaning' oven, but then, my oven doesn't get used all that much, so I guess I don't need to worry about it. We'll be looking forward to the results of Dylan's paper towel testing.

Heidi, does IH think you can read your mind when he changes plans like that? Then, to expect dinner on such short notice, and disappear before it is ready? I'm glad you ate when it was ready, rather than wait around for his arrival! I'm also glad to hear that you will have professionals come to repair the fence! I like your thinking!

I'm about to head to bed. Sending positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for everyone, even if I didn't mention you! Take care, all, and have a pleasant week!

Afternoon all,

Brenda, it took me longer than that to get to Mum's house!!!

MizT, bummer that you had to get up for meds, but yay we got to hear from you while you were up!!
I love your idea for sharing information. Do many of the other residents have computers?

The roll about stands sound like the perfect solution to docs changing rooms to see patients. Our docs just have the one room each.

Cyn, I'm sure Mo appreciates you flying down knowing how much you hate flying... Wish I could do it too..

Tami, can't help myself, replications of experiments. I had friends who argued with me about the reason their children didn't get 100% and mine did. I'm a science teacher for crying out loud!! They didn't replicate....

Heidi, this was a support class, it took about half an hour! It wasn't the most disabled children, I had the IM class which contains students just a bit below norm.

I've been meaning to tell you for a while. Dana makes all of Tahli's food! Sometimes she uses left overs but mostly she cooks them from scratch. Tahli now won't eat the bought kind! And, unlike most babies (based on the research we've done) who prefer their veges when they are mixed with fruit to disguise the taste, she'll only eat fruit if it's disguised by veges!

Morning all - large white kitty woke me up again! Hubby gets up at 3:30 to go to work and this cat figures I should be up too. He licks me, stomps on me, and if that doesn't work, he nibbles.

I have the grandies before and after school today. I usually have them on a Friday, but this week it's Monday.

I now have 60 squares done. June, I crochet them together instead of sewing, so it's much faster. I find the most tedious part is sewing the ends in - there are 12 ends for each square.

Suzy, way to go for Dana to make the baby's meals. Wow! I was back to work when my daughter was 4 months old and just didn't have time to make her food from scratch. Very impressive!!!!

Did you also mark the map of Canada with our northern territories? Okay, okay, I have to admit I AM CANADIAN, and proud of it.

We bought a Dyson vacuum yesterday ... I'm so excited and can't wait to use it today. I really need a life if a vacuum can make me happy!!! It's a bit heavier than our other vacuum, but it sure sucks a lot better (and I mean sucks in a good way, as compared to our other vacuum which sucked, but not in a good way).

Off to grab a coffee and then get ready to start the day.

BTW, my feet started to hurt yesterday afternoon, the last day of my not being on the statin drug. I start it again today. So now I'm confused. It doesn't take much.

Yes, I am up at 4 am, but I have had my 8 hours of beauty sleep. I had my 'tea' about 6 pm, and watched a bit of TV. I woke in my chair at 8:30, no idea how long I slept, and took tome only to put on jammies and off to bed I went. A very good night's sleep for me.

I am starting to comment where I found it interesting, only cause that is the page my comp0uter opened to hehehe.

From Page 524: Victoria my dear, LOVE your inspirational quotes, especially the 'cancel cancel' one! Our brain is the biggest computer ever devised, if it hears negative, it runs on negative. I will remember that one, I am sure it will really work, thank you for posting.

It seems I am about 3 or more days behind real time, but Vicki, I hope you had/are having a wonderful time on holiday in Tass.

Heidi, I did not read about your epidural, but do find you becoming pain free after it was over. I am so happy for you. Do keep to a reasonable schedule, work, rest, you know the drill, but any of us with pain issues have to be reminded. I just walked away from my sink with a bowl and lid unwashed. Never mind I had washed all of yesterday's dishes this morning cause I fell asleep after tea time last night, I came to the end of my endurance and that bowl will wait for me till I am able to go back. But it is hard to walk away from a task, isn't it Heidi??

Suzy, what a nice wish you sent to Vicki for her travles? May I borrow that for my friends who have 4 more weeks in USA? Especially the light suitcases part. They travel with a hand held scale, and were packing as much weight up to but not over the limit, for their bags.

Hugs to Rolanda, the 'firsts' continue. How is the house coming? ETA for move in? I would be sooo excited and impatient, well, I WAS just, moving here hehehe.

GAIL hope you enjoyed/are enjoying having Chloe home for a visit. big gathering? sure you can, enjoy that re-done kitchen, make good use of it hehehe.

TAMI, what other woman? Seems I did miss something interesting. sounds as if hubby handled that very well, whatever it was.

Midge, hope you get a handle on the dialysis machine. Do you have nurses who can come help instruct you? Or that you can call? My Ex was doing home dialysis, till they discovered it was not working well for him. I hear a lot from daughter who lives with him, they are symbiotic care givers, both needing someone. I do hope you get yours worked out. You can come here to vent, rant and rave at the machine, if that would help hehehe.

JULIE, thanks for the update, once again I find things I missed in your posts, such a service you do for this board, we do ot say ' thank you' often enough.

Suzy, seems I missed the shocking electric bill. I hope that can be sorted, and found to be a mistake perhaps? sending good thoughts and wishes that such is possible.

Just saw this on current page.

Julie, yes, I have found many residents have computers, and are quite computer savy, even my 86 yo neighbor across the 'street'. Also, there is a computer in library for those who cannot afford to keep up a computer and service of their own, and some of the men are there at odd hours of the night, when others not apt to be using the puter. there are some residents who volunteer with helping sort out electronics, computers, programmable phones and TV, such. All of our residents lived full and interesting lives and bring many skills with them here. This is independent living, not assisted living, so many are very active. I have yet to meet one neighbor on our floor, he leaves at 6 am every morning, and is home sometime after 6 pm, later if he stays to dinner. He babysits his grandies, twin girls age 3!

Sorry for the LOOONG post earlier this page, a 3 parter?? My meds either put me to sleep or I am up and away, talking non stop. No one to talk with so you poor people got the brunt of it that time.

MizT, love your long posts. We are your friends and here for you to 'unwind'.
I may not be about much. A busy week. Tomorrow I have to both bowl and umpire with a meeting after.
Also trying to wash, iron and sort clothes for our cruise next week.
Still deliberating about my cat. She fretted for a few days when I went to Belinda's last week and Ken was here to feed her. (ie reluctant to eat or just selective)I have one week left to decide. The neighbours will feed her but not at 3 am as she sometimes dictates!
Took Laura to Belinda's yesterday to see the puppies. They have all grown and their eyes are open.
Took MIL to lunch today. Her daughter came as well. Great having lunch with someone who sits with a sour look on their face the whole time!

On my phone and almost reported Mizt as offensive! As if!

Theresa, I was the same,4 months with Dana, 6 months with Alie, store bought for both of them! 12 more squares already! That's impressive! How big are your squares? I'm not sure about the northern territories which suggests that the answer is no.... I would gave loved to have bought a Dyson the last time I bought -the sad thing is that I probably paid as much for my cheap copy as you paid for your Dyson! We are so ripped off over here. Hubby says he is having a lot fewer problems and for shorter times since he got his expensive shoes - I wish the same for you!

To whomever asked (hard to find things on my phone) feel free to use my trip message!

MizT, with so many residents computer savvy, your forum idea sounds like an eden better idea!

so far you haven't said one thing about your place that is horrible! Disregarding for a moment the environmental issues like running the tap for too long to get hot water.......
