So much for the Drs telling Megan she had about 2 months, I'm devastated to have to say it was 2 weeks! Yesterday 27th October Megan lost her battle with the monsterous disease.
I only met her, in person, once and remember her as a small pixie like young girl (she would have been about 25 but looked so much younger) full of life and laughter. RIP Megan.

Oh Brenda, I'm so sorry. So very young and so very sad. I'm sure if she'd had a choice she would have wanted to stay for longer, even in pain, with her little one and family...

Suzy, she is soooo cute. My how she has grown. Who carved the pumpkin?

FIL will not be getting any help to move back upstairs in the spring (only he doesn't know it yet). He is very routine oriented, so by spring we are hoping that being downstairs will be part of his routine. As I said to hubby, don't sweat it, a lot can happen between now and spring. He really is not very mobile, and by spring he could very well not be in the home at all. I think MIL now would not mind moving to a nursing home, and she is hoping that FIL will move into the same one. Waiting lists are long, but apparently if MIL moves to a home, FIL gets bumped to the top of the list for that nursing home on compassionate grounds. He is so stubborn though that I doubt he will take advantage of that.

MizT, does Joy live closer to you now that you have moved? I really enjoy your posts about all the activities you are involved in. I sometimes feel like I am right there with you, starting over as well.

Theresa, hubby drew the design and Alie carved the pumpkin with the help of a friend.

I hope your FIL misses your MIL so much that he wants to be where she is. Unfortunately he sounds a lot like my FIL who wouldn't have let that change his mind.

That's right. We need to celebrate the life that Megan had. She was loved, which not everyone can say. My young friend Maxine was not loved by her birth mother, nor by her adopted mother or adopted grandmother. To me, nothing is sadder. Megan had, and has, the love of friends and family. And she is no longer suffering.

Rest In Peace, Megan.

Sorry I have been missing for a few days. I have just been busy and not on the computer.

My parent's celebrated their anniversary on Friday October 26. They have been married for 55 years. I still find that hard to believe. I think they have the longest marriage in the family, on my father's side. The longest I remember is 53 years by one of my dad's uncles.

I spoke with daughter #1 via text, she is in Connecticut, not far from the coast, and they were having flooding already. The wind of the hurricane was pushing a storm surge up Long Island Sound, (Suzy, that is the finger of water between Connecticut and Manhattan Island, New York City) at high tide, and so, flooding. They were just outside of the flood zone with mandatory evacuation, so plan to ride it out at home. They survived Irene at home last year, so think they can make it. Sum total of her preparedness it seems, was to make sure all 6 of the smart phones, iPads and such were fully charged!

Grandson who is autistic does not understand interruption to his routine, he has programs he uses to communicate, others just for entertainment, so for them a fully charged iPad is a necessity. If they loose power, (rather when they loose power, it is gonna happen), they can go inland to SIL's office, it might have power, it is on a different system. Grandson does like his own personal battery powered tea light, from last year, she did make sure to have a supply of those for him. I do hope we can stay in touch, would not worry so much about daughter, SOL and their grown sons, it is the little one and his handicap who just will not understand why his world has changed I worry about.

Grandaughter and great grand are in PA, I think they are in the snow zone. I hope they have the necessities for this storm.

Here, we have a wind advisory for tomorrow, sustained winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. All the pretty leaves will be blown from the trees! Also, it will be COLD, temps tonight just above freezing. With wind chill factor, well, all I can say is I am glad I do not have to go out tomorrow!

Tomorrow we do get our pendants, the 'I have fallen and can't get up' thingies. Must decide if I want around neck or a bracelet. I think I will do bracelet, then get a lanyard that could be clipped on if I want to change to neck. I have found when I have a flare of fibro, anything around my neck is ouchie, just that bit of weight makes neck and shoulders hurt.

Yesterday, Saturday, Eddie came to visit, and he decided that I was living in an OK place, I could stay hehehe. He put together the poles for my hanging pots, now if weather will get sunny and warm and I can have a free day to put the pots together and get them hanging. wish I had not canceled last week, but weather change just did a number on me.

I am up for an early 'intermission' tonight. I was very achey most of day, found really hot water at the tap, after most of day it being warm, so I hopped into shower and steamed away the achies, climbed into bed and had a good 3 hour sleep!

Lots I meant to comment on, but I need to scroll back and refresh memory. I will post this then do just that. Hugs with extras, till later.

SUZY, how is your hubby's eye doing? I hope no problems and it is as good as new. We must take care of our eyes.

Ahhh, Daylight Savings time, yes, for one more week. This weekend was the previous change date, my computer thought it was the change date, I had to 'move' my puter to east coast so the time would be correct for this week hehehe. More than one way to trick a computer.

Mama, so glad you are taking it slow while getting the garage auto ready. How are you getting about without an auto these days? when you mentioned going to store for storm supplies, I just imagined you doing it in your car. Good luck finding just what you want.

Theresa, hope the move of FIL goes more smoothly than anticipated. Older people do get set in their ways.

BRENDA, so sorry to hear of Megan's passing. Nope, doctors do not know, they guess when it comes to how much longer a terminally ill person may have. My heart goes out to her family, especially to her young daughter, How very sad.

Well, I did not get to the end, but I am sleepy again. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Greetings, All!

Great TOPP, Suzy!

Brenda, I am so sorry to hear about Megan! RIP free of pain! Prayers for all of her family and friends who have lost someone so young! It sounds like she lived life fully and had a loving and caring family and friends.

Theresa, I hope when the time comes your FIL decides to go to the nursing home with your MIL. Growing old is so hard! I'm sure things will work out in some way.

Tami, Happy Anniversary congratulations and {{{HUGS}}} to your parents! How wonderful that they have reached such a milestone! May they have many more!

MizT, hoping you feel better tomorrow! So glad you were able to have a hot steamy shower tonight! I like the way you can trick your computer! Good for Eddie for putting together the plant pole!

Thinking of everyone in SA as well as those over on Easy and TOS who may be affected by Sandy. I hope the weather forecasters have incorrect information as to the track of the storm and results if Sandy joins up with the 2 other weather systems!

I'll be calling it a night here. Time for some restorative sleep! Here are some healing vibes, prayers, positive thoughts and {{{{{ H U G S }}}}} for everyone!

My apologies to those who visit here (or haven't visited here in a while) if I have not mentioned you recently. You are all in my thoughts!

Hello everyone - back from my holiday, and starting to feel alive again! There were many wonderful things to see, places to visit and people to meet, unfortunately the bug I had was unpleasant and persistant! Many others were also sick as dogs, though naturelment not my beloved, who saw many exciting things alone (sob!) He, of course, is already planning our next trip ... perhaps NOT the same TYPE? Ah well, that's life! (Boy I'm glad to be home!)
Ok, yes, there were some lovely things to see and do - had a gorgeous little day trip to France (!), where we tried out some delicious food and looked at lovely things ... Saw lots of other nice things, but the brain isn't working very well - will try to sort it all out. Anyway, I'm here ... !

Morning all.

Suzy, apparently this storm is different in that it will stay in one area for hours and just dump rain (or snow). Our area is predicted to start feeling the storm late today or early tomorrow. We got all our supplies yesterday, batteries, water, canned goods, a wind-up alarm clock, etc. Hubby is keeping the gas tank in the car topped up. We also have a small amount of cash on hand because the last time we were without power for days on end (January 1998 for 8 days), no ATMs were working. Some stores were open if they had a generator, but you couldn't use your bank card. Lesson learned. Just enough to get staples if necessary (bread, milk, etc.).

I am helping D with more squares for blankets. She wants to make blankets for the grandies, but has trouble starting them. This is the hardest part of making the squares for me, so I am helping her by doing those. She helped me, so it's only fair. She is having a difficult time right now as she is on a new medication and it is not working well with her system. She had to leave work on Saturday because she was so sick.

Off to grab a coffee ... help yourself! Catch you all later.

Tami, Happy Anniversary to your parents! That is quite an achievement!

Heidi, I hope your young friend Maxine finds that love in her child (and any future children). They are good at loving you - at least until they are teenagers... then they still love you but act like they don't, though it slips out sometimes.

MizT, thinking of your daughter and sending wishes that it doesn't get much worse and is soon better. From the news I am hearing that is very much wishful thinking! At least you are still in touch for now. If she is anything like her mother I am sure she will maintain the calm and optimism that her son needs her to have.

Glad you got your hot shower..

Judy, great to see you back. Sorry you were sick, though your day trip to France sounds wonderful! Can't wait to hear more when you are feeling up to it!

Theresa, I'm on my 20th square now! Progress... Helping your daughter in this way means it is more likely she will help you again in the future. By the way, I want a photo posted of your rug!!! I hope you stay safe and relatively dry. And I hope your daughter's meds stabilise soon and she feels better.

Hubby's eye is doing a little better. He has an appointment on Friday to double check, but when I asked him how the spider webs are doing and he said they seem a little better, he seemed pleasantly surprised. I hope the doc supports that on Friday.

By the way, I dot a cowd... had to dose up on Sudafed to work today. You can't give up a days work when it might be the only day you get in a week,,,'

Nah.... the snow will just miss us here, fortunately. My concern is that I'm gonna be driving in some nasty weather. I'm leaving to visit Maxine in 17 hours, and will be driving through the remains of Sandy. I decided to alter my route and swing south a bit to come in behind her. My original planned route was gonna be hammered by rain and snow. This route will miss the worst of it and is only 10 miles longer. I still have a few things to organize before leaving, such as put hay out for the cows, put out a large supply of feed for the cats, and pack, but at least my brain is organized so far.

It is cold this morning. We may have had our first frost last night, and it's still in the 30's in the late morning. Hard to believe that it was in the 80's only 3 days ago.

I've been hemming and hawing over whether to drive my truck or rent a vehicle for this trip. I just decided to rent one, mainly because the tires on my trick are getting old and need to be replaced. Plus I have no spare. It was looted from a service station when I dropped it off for repairs. I called in to the local shop that rents cars (I've dealt with them before and really like them) and will pick it up in 2 hours so I can start packing it.

Hi all from a very rainy, cool, windy, .but still intact area. Sandy has been raising havoc 30 to 60 miles away, yet the worse is still to come with high tide. Sandy is suppose to affect us more fully anytime after 9 P.M. Keeping my fingers crossed that the power stays on here. All family in the area are home with the exception of one niece who works for television and had to report. They will house them in an emergency, but wish she too could be home safe. It's my SIL's birthday and he gets a day of rest which is a great gift to him..
Tricia, my daughter, SIL and a couple of neighbors have been driving me where ever I needed to go...I couldn't drive when I first got home, and since my car was totaled, I knew I'd need another one but waited until I decided if I was going to move south or not...now that I plan to stay, I need a car... I also had to finish paying the nursing homes an outlandish amount of money that medicare and my secondary insurance didn't cover due to the long stay before I could afford car payments.

Brenda, I was saddened to read of Megan's passing but am happy that she is resting in the arms of God. In the short time here on earth she had a chance to find a good life and she is sure to be rewarded more in eternity. Condolences to all of her family.
Heidi, glad you have transportation with good tires, you are sure to need them in this weather. It will be worrisome not hearing that you are okay until you return, but at least we know ahead of time and that is a help...Safe travels and enjoy your time with Maxine and the baby...It will be good for all of you.
Hugs and very best wishes to all. Peace♥

I'm partly packed, but everything else is done. I put out 6 rolls of hay for the cows, moved the 6 hay rings and put them around each hay roll to minimize wastage, caught the 8 cows that had busted through a gate into the horse pasture and patched the hole they made so they won't get out again. The dogs and cats have a large supply of food out, and my friend Debbie was here and we went over the feeding and watering of the birds carefully. She won't mess up. I have the rental car, and I've put the essentials in it (jumper box, tire repair kit, snacks and drinks, directions with phone numbers, cell phone and charger, purse, money and CDs. Clothes and meds are the only thing left to load..

Heidi - safe trip and enjoy your visit.
Judy - Welcome back, sorry you got sick while away. That is just not fair!
Mama - I'm pleased that you and yours are safe from Sandy.
It's looking so awful - George Takei is posting photos on FB (sent to him from fans in the area) and each one is scarier than the previous one.
Can someone tell me the best site to keep up with what's happening with Sandy?

I'm off to bed. My alarm clock is going off in 7 hours. Then off on my drive. I enjoy long drives by myself. I like to listen to audio books and old radio shows on CD while driving and find it very peaceful and refreshing. There shouldn't be much damage as I near the coast, because the storm hit north of Maxine's area. I expect to see some flooding, but that's it.

Afternoon all,
I decided to try to sleep off my cold today. I put the tele on a station showing news of Sandy (it's all over Australian TV) and promptly fell into a deep sleep. Then the phone rang - can you work tomorrow. Sure. Back to sleep. Then the phone rang again, Can you work Thursday. Sure. Back to sleep. Text message: Can I walk home from school today? If you have sunscreen with you. I'll check. Then finally I've changed my mind. I'd like a ride home. I gave up, watched the latest on Sandy - scary stuff. Thinking of you all. Now I'm showered and just waiting until it's time to go get Alie. I won't visit Dana and Tahli today, don't want to give this to them.

I'm going to try to see some more about how things are.

Heidi, have a fantastic time, and I hope you don't run into any bad weather...

Hi, Everyone!

Welcome Back, Judy! I'm so sorry to hear that you were sick while you were away! Luckily you were able to enjoy at least parts of the vacation!

Theresa, I hope the storm doesn't make its way to you! It's nice that your D wants to make blankets for her girls - and nice that you are able to help! I hope her medication gets straightened out!

Thinking of all those who have been/are/will be affected by the storm. Special thoughts for Mama and family, Theresa, MizT, Heidi and others I have missed!

Suzy, I hope your hubby's eye is improving, and I hope your cold goes away quickly! Good luck with subbing while you struggle with the cold!

Heidi, I'm glad you adjusted the route you'll be driving to see Maxine and her baby! Great idea to rent a car for additional safety! Enjoy your drive! Please drive safely! We'll be thinking of you! Congrats on the baby zebra finches!

Mama, when you start searching for a replacement car, be sure to watch out for cars that may have been flooded during the storm.

Suzy, too bad about your nap! It was such a good idea to try to sleep off your cold!
