Happy Chanukah Tami!
Those boys are lucky, what a nice indulgent uncle!

I would like to be an indulgent Nanny. Emmy is having such a bad time lately. He mother has totally rejected her and doesn't even want her fortnightly access (long story - and I'm too upset to even talk about it yet), then this morning one of her pet guinea pigs died from the intense heat. She's so distressed. She really wants an iPod, and I'd like to get her one, but I can't afford one for all my grandies.
Can anyone think of a way to do it anonymously - can't use Santa, he should be fair, and what has happened isn't her sisters' fault.

Evening all,
Anonymously.... hmmm.... the only thing I can come up with is a work Xmas party gift, but I can't work out why it would be so expensive. Perhaps a lucky draw type gift with one lucky child getting the iPod (in which case you'd have to have smaller presents for the other two and somehow force the more expensive one to Emily...

It's not good and probably wouldn't fool anyone but maybe it will trigger a better idea...

The poor little bugger! I can't imagine anything that would make a mother do that - and as you know I've had some provocation...

Could you 'win' one in a raffle or something like that Cyn. Say you bought tickets for each of the grandkids and Emily's ticket won.

Happy Chanukah Tami! I think a tantrum gift for yourself is in order as soon as you can afford it - just before actually. Like my phone was - my tantrum was 'I can't have a decent phone because we're still paying for the phone Dana defaulted on!!!' I got one!

Julie, I love the symphony of science! I could use up my allowance every month listening to all of the variations. Veritasium has a few good ones also...

Mamacita, I hope your energy levels stay up high enough for you to go to another concert very soon.

MizT, I'm sorry your Carols were cancelled. Ours went ahead, though they cancelled the fireworks because of the winds - so strong they were blowing over stage decorations!

Rolanda, things seem to be moving along at the new Chez Rolanda...

Hawkmoon, I'm glad you liked the clips... both of them are so hope filled!

I've seen Emily tonight - she walked in crying her eyes out - turned out it was losing Chubbs, her guinea pig! About her mother, Andrew thinks she may have overreacted when she said that (even though it was still inexcusable!) Em rang her this afternoon to tell her about the g/pig and she was sympathetic. She's still a biatch, either way!
I spoke to Andrew about the iPod and he said he's getting her the latest PS gadget (PS Vita??) and she'll be happy with that. So, I'll leave it for now and see what happens.
I feel happier for just seeing her. I felt so crushed for her yesterday.

Cyn, her mother isn't worth being spoken about if she can treat her daughter like that. Hope that Emily feels better soon, she will know she is loved by her father and her grandparents.

Poor Emily. I wish I could give her a big hug and a shoulder to cry on. She deserves a lot better than life is giving her.

Greetings friends, had a busy morning. I finished those cushions, and put away the sewing things. It is such a job rearranging so many things to make room to sew. christmas arrangement and my red covered basket of meds had to be removed from table. My fruit bowl had to be removed from the pass through shelf just above table, to make room for a lamp to put some light on the subject. Iorn came out of the storage closet for first time since I moved, I just canot sew without an iron. Ironed on the bed, too many boxes temporially stored in closet, empty tree decorations boxes and wrapping paper and ribbon, seasonal stuff that will go back to Joys once the tree comes down. So for flat pressing of fabric for cushions, the bed was a good substitute. I did sit while pressing fabric, no bending over that low , save the back. Now it is all back in it's place and looks much better, it is good to have a place for everything. I do miss my sewing room, where all this stuff would have been out and waiting for me, I was so spoiled having that room.

I went down for another choir singing carols for us, very good, lovely voices, only thing wrong was it did not last long enough for me. They were some well trained musicians there.

They had announced they wound wait 5 extra minutes to see if another alto came in, really needed one or 2 more to balance. None ever came. One of the songs where only the women were singing one verse, sopranos and altos, I noticed one of the tenors was singing the alto part, sight reading the notes, to help them out.

it is still gloomy today, but warm. Rain seems to have ended here, I hope so. I have PT again today, and OH, need to phone about orientation this week, I should go and do that before I forget.

Hugs to each of you, with extras. Till later.

You were loved and cared about by many people. I'm glad that you're no longer suffering. It's only the ones left behind that are hurting now.

More sad news! I just heard that my cousin Charlie passed away last night. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in November 2011, so has actually done well to last this long. He organised a reunion in March for all we cousins from that side (Dad's) of the family. I'm glad I got to see him then and to see him when it wasn't obvious. He lived most of his adult life in North and Western Qld, so I never saw much of him in the last 40 years. He was 3 weeks short of his 60th birthday.
RIP Charlie

Thanks Heidi, but please, no-one worry about me, I'm sad but fine. Concentrate all your efforts and thoughts on Nola. As I said, I hadn't seen Charlie much in 40 years so I won't miss his presence. I have so many cherished memories of a happy childhood spent in close company with all my cousins. Death can't change those memories.

Off to bed now. I have to get up in 8 hours or so for my oral surgery. At least it isn't as early as I thought. I thought it was for 9 am but it's for 11 am. It's gonna be sore for a while, but at least I won't have the nearly uncontrollable urge to yank it out myself with a set of pliers.

Col has gone away overnight again! This time as far north as Mackay, about 1000kms. Then a few drops on the way back. I won't see him before Thursday evening. He finishes on Friday until after New Year, woohoo!
Going to my sister's for dinner tonight, that will be a nice diversion.
