Good evening friends. Can anyone tell me how I got so far behind? I think I posted Sunday afternoon, it is only Tuesday night here now, but I see 2 full pages and part of a third here for me to read. Busy couple of days for me.

Monday I dropped the pool from the schedule, just too much scheduled for one day, and I can go to the pool anytime. The Chilli Lunch and the Dress Rehearsal at the theater would not be available again. Good choice Tricia

The lunch was delish, and so many smiling faces of the young girls here to serve us. Hands On Birmingham, a clearing house matching up volunteers with non profits that could use assistance, sponsored the lunch. The girls were from local high schools and colleges, many sororities represented. It was part of a 'MLK Day Of Service' incentive. Worked for me, we really enjoyed having them here.

I came back to my apartment and checked out some fancier duds for that evening, decided what to wear, and got those pressed. Had a light dinner, after my nap, and was in fine fettle for the walk up to the theater. A bit on the chilly side for walking, but the play was well worth it. Our Activities Director Jan had one of the lead roles, she did a great job. The play was 9 to 5, the musical, and we all enjoyed it so much. Must have been about 20 of us or so. The players say it really helps them to have an audience at the dress rehearsal, they know where the laughs will come, how the audience will respond and such. we enjoy a night out, free.

Posting this fore it gets too long, so I can get back to reading and commenting. Hugs,

I read your post, MizT, and thought about your life and activities only 6 months ago. You have such an active social life now, as well as getting so much done. It's quite the difference. And you're sounding much happier.

BEAN, I am with you, walking in the pool is so much better for me than on the pavement. Like you I do not like being seen in pubic in swim suit, but at Lakeshore it does not seem to matter. Everyone is there for improving their health, no one seems to notice what you are wearing. My first few trips were in bike shorts and a heavy knit T, and I was not the only one. You would be amazed at what people wear. One of the instructors wears a sports bra under her suit, the backs and necklines are differently made, so you see lots of the bra. but she is comfortable with it. Others, members and instructors of classes, wear tights or yoga pants under a swim suit that is high cut at the legs. Whatever is comfortable and fits your modesty needs.

Heidi, how was that roast beef sandwich? do you have a bread maker, or did you buy already prepared dough for the bread you baked? Bet your house smelled yummy.

Cyn, you have hurt my feelings terribly, first calling me an oldie, and comparing me to those gate crashers?? shame girl hehehe. OF course I did not take offense. You disliked a group of women for their actions, they just happened to be seniors.

Rolanda, I understand about exercise being easier if you do with others. I enjoy pool days more when Sue, a neighbor, goes with me, even if she does not do the class I do.

Heidi, have you driven Whimsy yet or just observed her with her trainer?

BEAN, you cracked me up, 3 day old baby's nappy, too descriptive hehehe. Should never be in the same thought as eating. Very good you can exchange services, designing a garden for the locksmith. Nice when you get to do something you really enjoy. Be sure to tell us about it as you go along, please?

SUZY, that is a lot of painting you are doing, I would say you were indeed productive!

Heidi, what a dream you had! Is your subconscious telling you what you really want, to see friends in Australia and to leave Gil behind?? Nice to know your Aussie friends would welcome you a week early, and know that would hold over in real life too!

Theresa, sorry to hear of your FIL's fall. Glad his Life Alert button worked as it should for him.

Heidi, your meals sound delish. I wish you were just a bit closer, I would be up to help celebrate Gil's birthday.

June, sorry the temps canceled your bowls, but that is a very sensible rule. I imagine it was much hotter in the sun and the bowls field, lane, pitch, whatever you call it, was not in the shade.

Today was a good day for me. Sue and I went to the pool, then went shopping. Her Bible study group is hosting a luncheon Thursday for the new residents. she needed a few things for that. I am invited, heck, just call me when lunch is served, I will be there hehehe. I spent too much very quickly, but they had boneless chicken breasts and boneless porkchops at a good price, and I needed both so why pay more later? I WALKED walmart today (usually take a powered cart), that after an hour and half in the pool.

Heidi, yes, I do enjoy the social life here, when pain levels let me out of the house!! I am much happier now, this was a good move for me.

Glad I left a copy of the above post, it was too long. Here is the remainder.

I WALKED walmart today (usually take a powered cart), that after an hour and half in the pool. then finding parking and getting purchases plus pool gear inside, I was a tired chick. I had to park on the busy street in front, not a good place to leave the car. There was NO place in the lot, and even cars stopped in the drive. But somehow, by the time I got upstairs with the first load of stuff and looked out the window, not 1 but 2 parking places were vacant. I literally dumped my items, and hurried back to move the car. Got my usual parking place back, lucky me!! Do I even need to say I fell asleep in my recliner for a 2 hour nap??

I am not going to finish tonight. I will post this and continue tomorrow. Hugs to each of you, with extra, till later.

I am impressed, MizT. You ARE improving!

IH has left for Nebraska. I am now on semi-vacation. I only need to take care of the animals: Check outside water once or twice daily, feed hay to the horses tomorrow, pick up dog food tomorrow, and head to town to get a couple of paintings framed (purchased... one is by an Australian Aborigine of Gouldian Finches), and get some lovebird food at the pet shop. It's gonna be fun tomorrow.

Hi, Everyone! We're also experiencing the cold temperatures. I think the actual temperature dropped below zero last night and may again tonight. The 'real-feel' temperature is even lower. Of all times to be puppy-sitting! A miniature schnauzer puppy doesn't have any extra fat/padding, and very little fur. We need to put her coat on her each time to has a potty break, then try to help warm her paws, ears and tail when she gets back inside. When she was with us before, she got in the habit of taking a walk each time she went outside. Now we're trying to figure out a way to have a designated potty location so it will be just a quick walk outside, do her business, and get right back inside.

Tomorrow morning hubby and I both have dental appointments, so I need to get ready for bed soon - no reading and commenting. Here are the daily dose of positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers and {{{{{ H U G S }}}}} for each of you!

Heidi - Happy Birthday to IH - probably too late now that he's left for Nebraska.
Tricia - it's a shame that you don't have parking spots allotted for you that no-one can take.
Theresa and Julie - stay safe in that freezing cold.
Slightly cooler here 28C during the day but rain coming. I just saw a projection of the cyclone that crossed the coast up in the Gulf of Carpentaria and is crossing the north of the state now. Some predictions are that it will cross out into the Pacific, intensify into a very strong low system and dump huge amounts of rain. Where? SE Queensland!! On the weekend. We sure need the rain, we don't need more flooding!

Well things happen in threes, don't they??
First (a few weeks ago, in all that hot weather): The Inverter for our solar panels stopped working. Sent back to the manufacturer for warranty repairs. No good rebates this quarter.
Second (last week): Col's Tomtom won't charge or stay on. Gone to Sydney for repairs under warranty.
Third (today): Air-con is kaput - no longer under warranty and has had extreme use in recent weeks. Waiting for our aircon repairman neighbour to come over tonight for a look. Cross your finger that it isn't going to be massively expensive!!

Broni - 35????? And only 20kms away - and closer to the bay? Wow! Well, I never saw either of my thermometers go higher than 28 but I suppose it could have been higher.
Good news though! Anthony, the neighbour, fixed the aircon. One part, no cost! Woohoo! Sometimes it who you know.....

Pleased to hear your aircon is working now Cyn. Good neighbour to have.
We actually got into the + temperature yesterday +1C after a start of -5C when I took Richard to the station in the morning. Back to 0C this morning with snow flakes falling on and off. Nothing to worry about just yet as very little has come down since the 6 to 7 inches over the weekend. Roads (apart from the side roads) are clear here, but the west of the country had a large amount of snow in less than an hour causing more problems.

Brrrr .... I mean 'morning'. Feels like temp is -33C right now. It was a frosty walk to take the girls to the bus stop this morning. Layers of clothing, hat, scarf, thick socks, two pairs of mitts.

Stew is in the crockpot so hubby will be happy. BTW, FIL's transfer to another hospital turns out not too bad in a way. This hospital is only about a 20 minute drive from our home. I think we will go and visit tomorrow - Maggie wants to come too to see her granddad.

Oh no, my coffee cup is empty. Maggie got me a gag mug for Christmas. There is a man on one side and when hot liquid goes in the cup, the man strips down to the very tiniest of briefs. I enjoy my coffee even more now. Does that make me a dirty old woman????

I changed my plans for today.... my prerogative. I fell asleep again and had a delightful nap instead of going to town. I don't HAVE to get the paintings framed immediately, and I have enough lovebird food for a few days. I can go tomorrow instead.

I'm about to have lunch/dinner (chili and a warm french baguette) then go warm up the tractor.

A day home today with MIL. I might do some more spot cleaning of the carpet while I talk to her. Hubby overfills his cup of tea, puts in three sugars, then walks arounds and it drips on the carpet!
MizT, love all your stories of your life as it is now. You sound settled and happy.
Cyn, pleased the AC is fixed. We have three so I always feel I could have one cool area. I spent ages yesterday trying to clean some of the dust out of the one that is well over 20 years old.

Suzy - get well soon. If it's that gastric bug I had last weekend, I know how you feel. Yesterday was the first day I felt back to my normal self. Good thing was that I've lost a few kilos, could not eat for days except for toast and dry biscuits/crackers.
June - I'm always having to 'spot-clean' the carpet. My grandies know they aren't allowed to take food or drinks onto the carpet and they still do if I'm not watching.
Theresa and Brenda - stay warm!

Hi folks..
Gee Broni... appalling timing..we miss being in Moama together by a week!! The original date was this weekend until the realisation that no-one would be able to get accommodation with all the happenings already going on up there..

Wow Heidi... will take you on that drive when you get her.. I may have my bush block then... I wonder if it will turn out to be the one in your dream...

What a joyous read today... I actually made it to p588!!! Apart from a few hundred pages last year that I missed I am now up to date... amazing..

Tricia I knew that would make you laugh.. CP would have got that completely as well! LOL
The look on Glen's son as he tackled it was precious... I was apportioned credit for the 'mess' in the kitchen when all I did was push it through a strainer to remove all the excess cellulose... Its good when friends can have a laugh over something like that.

It is so good that the quality of your life has improved since moving.. and hopefully your body will allow you to keep doing more and more. As I hope mine will. so far so good.. the proof will be in doing a long haul flight this year..

Have just deleted a lengthy comment about my lunch date tomorrow.. dare not say too much because I am SO superstitious .. will let you know how it goes..

Checking in here at my bedtime just to say 'here I is'. I had a busy day today and spent the after dinner hours tonight dozing in my recliner to make up for it. What did I do? Opened the large package of chicken breast, divided it out in Tricia sized portions, not those huge portions as packaged, wrapped it for freezer. Cooked 4 pieces in the foreman grill with either rosemary or a bottled rub for meat. Did same for the smaller package of pork chops, cooked 2 of those with Cajun seasoning. cleaned the grill and put it away. Made a cake, cleaned up that mess.

Spent over 2 hours upstairs doing my laundry. How I miss having my own washer and dryer so I can do other things while the clothes wash. Folded all that and put away. Huuum, seems I did more than that, Oh, repaired a pair of PJ's, the satin binding at neck was coming undone. Watered all my flowers in apartment, then went out to elevator lobby/sun room and watered those there. Their 'mother' had a fall recently and does not get them watered sometimes now. If I see them drooping, I give them a drink. They were droopy when I went up to laundry today.

Cyn, I think it was, I also wish we had assigned parking spaces. the problem is, there are not enough spaces for all the residents who have autos. Then to make matters worse, visitors will come in, find a vacant spot while a resident is out running errands and take that. I do not see a solution for the parking problem.

Suzy, get well soon, sounds like you have a nasty bug.

Heidi, hope you get your smilies back. It would not be you without your smilies.

Eyes getting droopy, so I am off to bed. Hugs to each of you, with extr5as. Till tomorrow.

Another mild sunny day here. It is already 51 F at 10:30 am, and the forecast high for the day is only 50. High for the day is usually about 2-3 pm, so I think we gonna get a lot warmer today than forecast. Huuumm, the next 7 days forecast in mid to upper 50's, mild weather that I can enjoy.

Julie, I did not know your hubby subbed at the school. good luck to him, hope he has a good class.

Cyn, how I wish for a larger car park. Do not want to give up our small garden for it, and that is the only vacant land anywhere near. Very Urban area, crowded in on itself. Building UP or digging down for more spaces would not only be expensive, we would have NO PLACE to park while that was under construction. Nope, it will stay as it is, and we residents will continue to fuss about it hehehe.

Problem of the day: I have been invited to a luncheon for new residents hosted by the Women's Bible Study Group. Now, I do not intend to join the group, so should I attend the luncheon? Seems like attending under false pretenses. My friend Sue invited me, do not want to hurt her feelings by not attending. What to do?

I have some ffuts to do today, best get too it. Hugs to each of you, with extras. Till later.

MizT...pleased, you are enjoying an active social life and resting when you need it.

It is raining heavily here from the ex cyclone. We really needed the rain and it has also cooled the temperatures down but not for long.
Theresa,I cannot imagine -40deg,especially when temps here at places, are getting to 40deg.
