Here's a quote for TOPP, though a little late: Cherokee Prayer
'O' GREAT SPIRIT
help me always
to speak the truth quietly,
to listen with an open mind
when others speak,
and to remember the peace
that may be found in silence.'

Hi.
Oh Suzy. Please get better quickly!! I am so looking forward to meeting you in Sydney. Sudoku and physio will help immensely. Thinking of you!

Bundaberg has had 5 mini tornadoes as Cyn mentioned.
Scarey coming home yesterday and I am unsure if I can get to work this morning due to the roads flooding.
We lost power and phone but it is back this morning. Still pouring and the wind is unbelievable. Greg will take me to work in his ute as it is much higher but still no guarantee that the roads will be open. A day off sounds good.
Take care everyone.

Nola, pleased to see your post. Don't take any chances trying to get to work. My BIL says there was a tornado at Hervey Bay, 5kms from his house.
The worst of it is still north of us yet. It's raining heavily on and off and although windy, nothing scary. Yet!
Our Australia Day Weekend BBQ has been postponed today, so we'll just take shelter here at home, hoping it eases off before it gets to us. Not likely, it's stayed strong for nearly a week now.
Broni and Vicki - are you both OK??

All good in my neck of the woods Cyn. Gympie has 239mm of rain since 9am and Cape Morton has 89km winds.
Zusy, you take care my friend. Looks like most of the storm is out to sea in your area.
Stay warm Heidi.

Just had a delightful supper. I browned, then stewed, a chuck roast (home grown) in tomatoes, and served it with a side of buttered lima beans. Both IH and I have happy tummies. It's great cold weather fare.

Hitting us harder now and winds quite strong. More boring than scary at the moment. Will keep you posted. Coastal areas seem hardest hit. But flooding is starting to happen west of Brisbane now.

Lucky that I am just a couple of streets from the foreshore and a bit of a dip so the winds are not bad here just wet, wet, wet.
Downloading a couple of movies to watch, not even worth swearing as everything is just damp. Hey Cyn even wearing my trackie daks!

Hi all! I'm a bit waterlogged here and the wind seems to be blowing in all directions at the one time but quite safe and cozy inside.

Suzy, be careful! Your message about another stroke scared me. Please treat yourself gently and don't forget your medicine.

We had a nice Australia Day. SIL and BIL are still here and my niece and her fiancé came over. We had a sausage sizzle on the deck and later had a lamb roast. My boys were giving me a hard time about not having a pavlova or lemon meringue pie for dessert. Later today we are making a cake and some brownies for my birthday tomorrow - it's nice of the government to declare a public holiday for me.
Now I think it's time for a nap. Have a lovely day.

I'm back from Tooradin feeling very proud and happy..
Lachie has passed his exam to get his Class A Recreational license with passenger, radio, human factors, nosewheel and high power endorsements... Most normal people don't try to go for ALL of that at the same time.. but then my boy isn't just anybody and he has had the best of teachers in our very own 'fly boy'. Hadn't seen Steve for ages and needless to say he was looking as pleased as punch as well to have another of his students pass the BIG test... Oh happy days...
His very first lesson was on the 10/10/2010... A long hard slog with him working 6 days a week and being permanently sleep deprived..

The rain keeps skipping around us and going out to sea, I don't want the quantities you guys up north are getting, but our dams are at drought levels (and a bunch of our water goes to Sydney) so a little more than the 17mm we've got would be nice.

Nola, Cyn, Broni and Vicki, I'm watching what is happening up your way closely. I'm not worried about you being hurt because I know you all know how to take care of yourselves in floods, but I do worry about you losing 'things', including peace of mind. Nola, you were amazing making your way to work, I hope the patients and management appreciated the effort it took.

I keep waiting until I can type faster to tell you how all of this happened, but I don't think that's going to happen in an hour or two. I was dreaming that there was something alive on my neck. It would occasionally move around and it was like it was flicking me. Then all of a sudden it felt like I was either being stabbed or was getting an electric shock through my left palm. I woke up fully and my arm was rigid. I thought I'd had a heart attack. I have an echo next week to rule that out. I got up and looked in a mirror and tried to smile, only half a smile! I wasn't 100% sure so I tried to talk to myself. I knew then. I woke up hubby 'I think I've had another stroke' - you have babe. Actually I got the order wrong there. I decided on one last test and tried to pick something up off the bench. The stuff I knocked off woke Don up and he called out asking if I was okay. I walked down and said I think i've had a stroke... I tried to walk down the hall to get my handbag with my medicare card and my left leg decided not to work - that would have made a great funny video.

Not a funny video at all Suzy. Please take care. Unfortunately we have MIL with us otherwise I would have gone to Nowra today with Belinda so I could have checked up on you. (Belinda was taking down two horses to ride in some event or other).
Nola, I have been watching the news on the damage in Bundergurg. So pleased to know you are safe. We have had light rain all day which has been lovely. Should have a lot more tomorrow.
Congratulations to your son Bena. Quite an achievement. He will now be able to take you up flying.
Took MIL out to lunch and some sight seeing today. She will be going home after lunch tomorrow.
Take care everyone.

I am back again.
Greg had to take me to work late, when there was a gap in the ferocious wind and rain. We had many staff ring in, who were unable to get to work, due to flooded roads.
Bundaberg CBD is flooding again, and expecting a bigger flood than 2010,2011.
Our rental property (which missed out last time)is likely to flood, this time.
Greg went over this afternoon, and 2 hrs later, the road was closed and he had to divert all over the place, to get thru.
A large gum tree came down in our yard, missing the shed but landed on the gates that lead to the back yard. No big deal, compared to some.
The water in the Burnett River is coming up faster than I have ever seen it.So unbelievable. To look down streets and see, 'That shopping centre is under',and we have another couple of metres of water to follow from rain further upstream.
Son (Paul)went to Bris for the long week-end,and now is caught by the flooded Bruce Hwy.Pauls friend has been evacuated, and moved to Pauls (which is our rental property).
Greg and Josh helped them lift furniture up off ground level, from their place. Now,they may have to move from Pauls also.
Renae and family are safe. She has Pauls dog,Judys dog and cat.
The 'Low' is heading south,so, Cyn,Broni,Victoria and anyone south of us are in for a battering.
The sun came out this afternoon, and much of the local flooding subsided, but the river will keep rising as we speak, from low lying areas that feed the rivers.
Got to go and do some uniform washing in case we lose power again.
