I thought tomorrow was Mother's Day. and today is Kentucky Derby Day.

I had a little fun this morning. A friend of mine had a Silver Pheasant he was looking for a home for. I've been wanting to get some Silver pheasants. This same friend was hoping to get some Gouldian finches. So this morning we traded his pheasant for a young pair of my finches. The pheasant is settling in very well. He's a large pheasant, with a silvery white back and tail, a black belly and a bright red cap on his head.

Greetings, Friends! Surprise! It's not the middle of the night here.

Heidi, I'm sorry the horse you chose for the Kentucky Oats didn't win! I hope your choice for the Kentucky Derby does better!

Suzy, I hope Forever Archie's performances went well!

Brenda, you got a great buy on the Dyson! They only rarely go on sale in our area. I hope the sale of the caravan goes quickly and in your favor! Your reasoning for selling sounds right on! In our area, we would also have the cost of storing it. (Many communities don't allow you to park one on your property, unless it fits inside your garage and is hidden from view.)

Rolanda, your menu for luncheon with your Mum and MIL sounds yummy! So glad to hear it went well!

Gail and Broni, I hope you both feel better soon!

Theresa, thinking of you on this sad and very long day! {{{HUGS}}}

Happy Mothers' Day to all who celebrate it! Enjoy whatever yummies you have planned or your families have planned for you!

Tammy, what appropriate quotes you have chosen! Thank you!

Heidi, your trade of a pair of Gouldian Finches for the Silver Pheasant sounds great. After your description, I must go to Mr. Google for some images!

Tami, you may be a Troublemaker, but you're also a genius! A whole weekend to celebrate motherhood sounds terrific! Enjoy it all!

Greetings friends, I am checking in fore Julie or Suzy ask where I am again

Not a lot going on, so not a lot to say today. It is warm going toward hot, sunny and with a breeze. I sat out on back porch mid morning to talk with daughter on phone.

I was able to water my plants with the hose today YEAH!! Al had repaired the faucet, but failed to attach the hose. I asked him please, and a day or so later, it was attached. I had to wait t6ill back would allow me to untangle from the grass and weeds that had grown around it. Could not find the watering end, so just found a spot and started hauling it our, of course it was the wrong end hehehe. NO LEAKS of this faucet and hose, that is good, and watering was so easy. Hose is now hanging on the edge of my porch rail, easy to turn it on and water. I might be able to keep them blooming now. Still have not put tomatoes into containers, the teen across the street is supposed to come help, but he has not arrived. His grandmother will remember to send him over I am sure.

that is it from here, I did read and thought appropriate thoughts from all the posts, just cannot wrap my mind around commenting. I had been off one of my meds a wh8ile, getting back on makes me very drowsy and dizzy, should be better soon.

Hugs and Huge ones to those who need it today. See you tomorrow.

Tami, I tried your mothers weekend out on my family and they shouted me down! Huh! Great quotes! I posted a link for Heidi yesterday - first even Mac aimed scam, linked to searches for all things mother's day...

MizT, I'm glad your hose is sorted so you can enjoy your blooms this spring and summer. Garden plants is what I have asked for for mothers day and we will go down to choose them later today.

You're just saying that to make me feel better MizT! And it worked. Whenever my brain refuses to cooperate these days I always wonder if it's something to do with last November - it is that long now..

I could not think of avian, either.
My family each picks a horse for the Kentucky Derby and then watch to see who wins. Dylan picked Animal Kingdom because he liked the name. My dad picked Shackleford, just like Heidi. I picked Stay Thirsty because I liked the name. Mitchell had Dialed In and hubby picked Pants on Fire.

Two weeks from today is the Preakness Stakes. (The second jewel of the Triple Crown) That's held at Pimlico in Maryland. I'll be at Churchill Downs that day, on Millionaire's Row, and will be able to bet on it via simulcast.

I have never picked a winning horse. We just do it for fun. Now we have to root for Animal Kingdom. Dylan was very excited.

BTW.... Archarcharch did suffer a fractured left front leg, but it's not life threatening like Barbaro's was. No displacement, and he can put a little weight on it with a splint on.

The only horse race I bet on is the Melbourne Cup, and that's only because my friend works at the local race track and gets me free tickets to go that day, and I rarely pick a winner.

Checking in again with a big Gekko! Happy Mothers' Day to Everyone!

MizT, we're always glad to "see" you, even on a "slow news" kind of day! I'm so glad you now have easy access to the hose! It will make watering your flowers and tomatoes so much easier. I hope this summer will be better than last and you'll have a ready supply of flowers! Thanks for clarifying that it was the hose being strangled by weeds! I would hate to think it was you. (Though I've heard that there are some areas where kudzu is a big problem.)

I couldn't for the life of me remember the word avian, even though aviary came right to mind, as it did for MizT.

Heidi, thanks for the update on Archarcharch - I hadn't heard.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, and prayers for anyone in need!

What a wonderful mothers day!! I couldn't get the plants I wanted and was a little discouraged, but hubby got out there pulling weeds anyway. I'd bought some mulch instead of credit for Alie the other day when she was very rude to me in front of her friends. I started at the other end of the garden and pulled weeds, lay newspaper and mulch.. Alie washed both cars, then helped move some stuff from the courtyard garden to the front garden. I headed over town and bought more mulch.. Several hours later the front garden has 3 less plants instead of the 8 more I wanted, a whole bunch of newspaper and 13 bags of mulch and looks fantastic!! We probably won't try to plant anything until spring, but at least it looks reputable. Courtyard next!

It was a lovely, but emotional Mother's day. Laura was so proud of the "grandmother's" Mug she bought all by herself at the school mother's day stall. She bought her mother a lovely breakfast tray and gave her mother 'breakfast in bed'. Everyone enjoyed their baked dinner (especially MIL who will be 97 next month). Took lots of family photos as who knows who will be here to celebrate the day next year.

Sounds like you had a busy family day in the garden Suzy. Green bin tomorrow so I will have to get up early and do some pruning etc. I can see lots of weeds after all the rain we have had recently.

A green bin would come in very handy here right now. The trailer is gradually getting fuller and fuller and we are no closer to getting a tow bar on the new cars...

Your day sounds lovely. Laura is going to have some wonderful memories! I am getting a baked dinner too - but it's only just ready now. About to inhale it as I am sooo hungry.
