I'm only back for a few minutes, I have to start and catch up on some works accounts, which are needed for an important meeting on friday. I have been very lax with them while I have been ill and just doing the bare minimum to get by with.
Hope you meeting is successful Dino. Enjoy spider solitaire Gail and have a good nights sleep the pair of you

Shoot, Just lost a post, before I sent it! Went back a page to check on something and guess what? My post went POOF into cyber space.
Guess one cannot back up to check when memory fails, Oh well. It was such a good post too, complete with coffee and everythng.
Brenda, hope you get your work caught up, and then find time for Christmas Shopping.
Dino, safe trip to you.

So I have companions in spider sol? Dino and Gail, did not know you played that one. I guess we are all akin and play many of the same games.
I like to play that one, no timer! I can stop to chat or write a post and noone cares if it takes me anhour to get back to it! I forget to pause my computer resident sudoku puzzle hubby gave to me.
Anyone do Mah Jhong Sol? Hubby made the mistake of showin that one to me, he has me about 3 different versons on my puter, but I pick one and play over and over trying to best my time/score. NO explination of how it is scored, but I am now fairly consistant. I am either doing nicely or still foundering around in my ignorance hehehe.

Hi MizT I have to admit I play spider and Mah Jong and when I want a quick game I just play freecell.
I am finally getting round to doing some accounts work but couldn't resist having a look in here to see if anyone was around again. Looks like I probably missed out again.

Good afternoon all! Brenda, can't believe you're still under the weather! Hope you start feeling better soon!
I too play spider, one of my favorite games!
Worked on the manger yesterday. S#2 decided that he would make it out of the bottom of a clemintines' crate and craft sticks (same as tongue depressors). We'll have to finish it up tonight and then start on the figures.
Never found the lights for the Christmas tree. After searching for 4 hours, I called hubby (who had made a big deal about not finding them and having to get new ones then) to see how much it would be to replace them because I searched everywhere. He said it would be $10!!!! If he wasn't out of town, I would kill him! My time is certainly more important than that, especially considering the fact that I haven't even sent out the Christmas cards yet! I'M SO FAR BEHIND!!
I love this time of year and I hate this time of year. The slightest thing that goes wrong, and it has a domino effect!
Well, off to eat lunch and then pick up S#2 from school. (hubby usually picks him up) I'll pick up the lights then and get the straw for the manger.
Have a great day!
ps: Dino, have a safe trip!

Well, my sewing machine died. My hubby killed it! It was an accident, he was trying to help me put a strap on a tote bag. something got tangled, and the little wire thingy that is part of the tension mechanism ( old model of machine) is now so deformed and misaligned, it is just dead!
The strap on the tote bag was ALMOST attached. It appears to be on, but I know it will not stand any weight on it. So, I am doing the only thing I can at this late date. i am sending it on to my quilting buddy and she can attach that one end. It is good to know her so well, and know she will understand.

Not long after I found this site, Kathy of Valrico, Fla announced on the easy comments that she had finally beaten spider, made her husband take a picture of it and put it on her page. I think it is still there. She was so exuberant and unpretentious that I decided I liked this place. Still do.
I play spider, mine sweeper and poker (for play money).
Dino, teach them a thing or two up in Sydney and then drive safely home. (You don't have to worry about what you're going to wear, do you?)

hehehe, No I don't have to worry about what to wear of how to do my hair. I find that a great relief. All this talk about online games is dangerous. I waste too much time already. Do you have a good version of Mahjong sol, MizT or Brenda? I've been trying to find something which is not full of ads or has only one hour of trial. What is rayray? I thought it was our poetic sheep-loving friend

Ruby, I used to drive from Melbourne to Sydney, but it is 800+ k and I don't have the energy for it any more. It will be a matter of leaving my car at the airport overnight. But I get to see my d#2 (Liz) on her birthday tomorrow!

DINO, hubby downloaded freeware for one or 2 mahJong games and I think bought me another. so mine are installed on my machine and not on the internet. I could ask him where he found the freeware and let you know.

SUZY, that thick stiffener did play a supporting role in the machine's demise. Because of that stiffener, I could not hold and manupilate the bag under the presser foot and had to ask for help.
I imagine the stiff stuff also helped the little wire thingy to get tangled. AND I walked away and let him handle the sewing, so as not to inject my 2 cents worth of how he should do it. Figured if I asked him to solve a problem for me, I should let him just do it. Maybe this was not the time to do that??
Now my hubby can work on anything and repair the vast majority. He has repaired my sewing machine many times. unfortunately, this is not one of them. Maybe this will force me to get a new machine. any of you who knows sewing machines knows none have had that wire thingy as part of the tension mechanism for decades!

Take care flying to Sydney Dino, wouldn't want you to exhaust yourself flapping!
Used to play Mahjong for hours, many years ago. Haven't played for a long time. Must try it again. Don't know what this Mahjong sol is, will have to google it.
Lynda, tried Rayray, couldn't get it. It's a bit like solitaire, the board game.

I googled it. It something to do with the effects of one little man on the other, but too much for my addled brain. I'm up late trying to work out why my webcam won't work. Sigh. Sitting waiting for updates to download. And don't worry Gail, if my arms get tired I can fly on the wing of a prayer.

Good one Dino!
Good morning all! Like I said, domino effect. Couldn't find S#2's soccer shoes this morning, searched everywhere!
S#2 painted the manger last night so that project is moving along, but not finished. It is due tomorrow and the figures still have to be done!
D#2 sent me her grant application to look over. She's applying to a summer program in Spain. It amazes me that a 14 year old would take that initiative.
S#1 sent me a 10 page paper last night that is part of his final. He wantes me to double check his grammar.
I'm picking up D#2 tomorrow in Boston for the Christmas break. She wanted to know if the Christmas tree was all done and I told her not exactly. This is the lastest we've ever done the tree.
Not enough hours in the day!

Stella, I wantes you to double check your spelling.
Just kidding.
MizT., I can tear up the bottom tension on a sewing machine faster than you can whistle "Dixie." My mother wanted me to learn to sew in the worst way. She got that wish. After a few tries, she wouldn't let me touch her machine. (No, it wasn't like the trombone. I didn't do it on purpose.)

RUBY, this was the top tension, and has the dial that screws tighter or looser against the plate that controls the little wire thingy that the thread goes through. Sure you know just what I am talking about. hehehe
NO, Santa will not bring a sewing machine. Santa knows that he has no idea what I need or want a machine to do. We will go sometime next year and see if we can find something cloer to this century in a sewing machine.
OH, you are right, 2 machines gone belly up, hope this does not come in THREEs. Well, my Vacuum almost stopped working. My cleaning lady had cleaned and cleaned with it with out emptying the plastic dust collector and cleaning the filters. i had to help her do that today and now it seems to be cleaning much better.

No, MizT., I know exactly the little wire thingy of which you speak. It is also employed in the winding of bobbins, or it was on Mama's machine. I kept tearing up the bottom tension, which is much more difficult to repair I was told.

Hi Ruby, MizT. Had my 35yr old Singer sewing machine renovated recently. Just does basic stuff, but it does it well, and that's all I need. Back to packing. One bag to stay with d#2 in Melbourne and another one for meeting in Sydney.
