Gail you seem to have had a good week this week. I envy you the summer and being able to get out and about. Is Hannah on school holiday or is this a long weekend (I seem to remember that Australia day is coming up soon)

Good morning all! Gail, so nice to be able to meet up with everyone! I wish Australia wasn't so far away!

MizT, I like your memory of skiing. Although I grew up close to the water, I never went water skiing. Did anyone end up with splinters in their bum going off the dock? It sounds like so much fun!

I do ski, but only a few times a yea. But I've been skiing since I was a teen and my sister only started a couple of years ago. Plus, hubby is an expert skier, so it's always good to have him around with all of the kids!

Hi Stella, I though exactly the same about the splinters
Sounds like you are going to have an unexpected skiing trip which is nice but not so nice for your BIL. You would expect that sort of fracture after he had been on the trip not leading up to it. Hope he gets better soon.

to all.
Brenda, Hannah is still on school holidays. They finish the year during the week before Christmas and go back just after Australia Day, which is celebrated on 26th January (public holiday Monday). I think she goes back next Thursday.
Just having a quick look in before we head off for our meet with Bean.
Have a great day/night everybody.

STELLA, no splinters, cause we were perched on the very edge . Sitting on our Imigination, as my Dad would say.

GAIL, enjoy meeting up with Bean. Is it a long drive to meet her? About Becky, I did send her e-mail and no answer so far.

Good maeN to all, bedtime for me after a busy day. will catch up with you again tomorrow.

Hugs to all!

Hi, All! Well, I made it here a bit earlier, though still late. Seems I've probably missed everyone again. MizTricia, your memories of water skiing sound like fun. I never tried it, although grew up near a river and friends did. Also never tried snow skiing, though have ridden a chair lift in summer. Almost got the courage up to try during college, but trip was cancelled. Stella, there's a "resort" in IL about 30 miles from where I grew up, but it wasn't developed back then. Gail, your meeting other Sudokuers sounds like fun. Wish we could scrinch some of the world's land masses a bit closer together!

Hi, Brenda and June (figs sound yummy)! Hi, Rolanda, Suzy, Ruby and Rena. Hi to Becky, if you pop in.
By the way, I don't suppose "scrinch" is a word, but I hope you understand the meaning.

Well, it was a lot hotter where I went today than it was meant to be! Yes, I got sunburnt again...don't start lecturing me, I know, I know....
Today was the day I met Bean and her family. What a hoot of a day Hannah and I had. I tell you, meeting up with Sudokuers is like finding a long lost glove, it fits perfectly. We chatted and got acquainted for a while, then went for a stroll on the beach at Flinders, collected some shells, then went into the town to get some nibblies for lunch. We sat down to a veritable feast and spent the next hour telling anecdotes and having a good ole belly laugh. I tell you, it's good for the soul. After a walk around the garden and more talking, we left for the drive home, about an hour and a half later than we thought we would leave! Didn't want to go then either but it was a long drive home so we had to go eventually.
We have both issued an open invitation for more visits to each other's house and to tell the truth, I can't wait.
Thanks Bean and co, had a truly wongerful day.

It's great to here you had a good time and that getting to know someone in person from SA is just like meeting an old friend you haven't seen for a while.

Hi everyone. Sorry about being scarce lately. Life got in my way while trying to get here.

Between family illnesses, hubby looking for a new job and a neighbor borrowing my pooter, I was crashing every night. Everyone seems to be on the mend and the neighbor is done for the moment.

Will try and catch up with everything that's been going on here.

Is it any cooler in here? It is fairly sweltering outside. The barbecue is on the balcony so we can eat and watch the fireworks. We can see Perth and Armadale's "skyshow" whilst sitting back and sipping something cold.

It must be the long weekend June. Everyone is out celebrating! Either that or doing the last minute 'get ready for school' thing. Today I have to sit down and see if I can remember how to make a pair of cullottes as my daughter has grown so much (up, not out) that she doesn't fit into her uniform anymore!

I have been slack, no coffee on today! I appologize.

Busy Busy last couple of days here, well, 3 or 4 days really. I had to clean my oven today! that big turkey I made overflowed the bakeing pan with it's juices! I had a small fire in my oven, which was qickly put out, but left the oven a huge black mess. Of course it was the afternoon of the day the cleaning lady had been here, will not be back for 2 weeks. I cannot wait 2 weeks to use the oven. So I am cleaning it.

Being stiff and now sore in my joints makes something like cleaning the oven a HUGE undertaking for me. Work a bit, rest a bit, back to do more. Not yet perfect, cannnot reach the back wall, but clean enough it will not catch fire when I cook again. Cleaning lady can do the rest of it when she returns.

MAMA I do have the second book now, World without end. I must find time to READ it a bit.

I am also working on some floor plans, doing the first rough draft for hubby. We still draw the old fashioned way, paper and pencile and rule. I can get them to scale but I cannot get them neat and pretty! Saves him a lot of work if they are drawn and have demensions, and I design with the lady of the house in mind hehehe. Not only must it fit, it must be functional and easy to clean.

How I wish I could find a home design program meant for the homeowner, that would let me draw these floor plans. I can do square buildings those programs, but I have not found one that can draw the 36 degree angle needed to get a 10 sided geodesic dome floor plan. bummer. Would have to go back to school to learn to draw on a real CAD program, and that is not somethng I want to do at this stage of my life.

Later,
Tricia

I hope the turkey survived MizT!!

I have missed some of your posts and I'm curious about your geodesic dome... Hubby used to work for a company that built them, but no help there as they used CAD programs...

SUZY, turkey survived just fine! We have had turkey soup and sliced turkey with veggies and turkey sandwiches already.

Luckily the overflow of juices was near the end of the cooking time! Turning off the oven was all it took to stop the tiny little flame there, when oven cooled turkey came out.
