Rolanda, hope you're soon feeling much much better. Take it easy.
Heidi, have fun at the dinner tonight.
MizT, I know the feeling ... when the arthritis in my back and hips flares up at night, I just can't find a comfortable position to lie in. Of course it doesn't help that I usually have a few cats sleeping with me, and one on me.
Got all my tax info gathered last weekend, now it's up to hubby to gather everything else.
Have the fun chore of doing the bills tonight. Yuck.
June, my grandies are going to see Disney Princesses on Ice on Friday. They are so excited already. Be prepared for finger smudges on your pictures if you don't get them put away. Grandies are such fun (usually).
Tami, glad the tests are almost over. I think you said before you would be taking a day off after all is said and done.
I used to love watching the Monty Python shows. I particularly remember the "comfy chair" and the "Ministry of Silly Walks".
Guess I'll just buckle down and do the bills instead of procrastinating. Hope to be back later.

Theresa and MizTricia.... I usually find if my hips and legs are hurting at night, elevating the legs with pillows does help. Maybe less blood flow to them eases the throbbing. Just a guess.

Had a fun meeting. Great food and a great program. Robert had a wonderful time. It helped that he knew a few people there. And IH behaved civilly to him.

Heidi, sounds like a good time was had by all. Glad IH was able to be civil at least.
Gonna say nite-nite now. Gotta get up early and torture, I mean test, my students tomorrow.

Laura asked why the photos were all over the floor. I showed her the tigers I had put in the albumn and the we went to the shopping centre and the Teletubbies put on a 15 minute show. We had some KFC while we watched the ice skaters (we have a full sized rink at the shopping centre), back to the next Teletubbie concert and home. That filled in most of the day. Sharon came to pick her up and went onto my FB. By the time my daughters accept and send gifts, friends etc for me I have no idea what is going on. I have farms that I know nothing about!

How wonderful to see Becky. It was about two days ago that I was thinking it was a long time 'no see' and I should try and make contact.
I am glad you have an easy solution by having the beasts taken away. When we had the dairy we had a lion park nearby and they would take any animals we had to put down as long as they were not diseased.

I certainly hope all those with colds, insomnia, arthritis etc soon get some relief from their aches and pains.
Rolanda you take it easy so that you make a good recovery.Tami, hope to see you around more now that the tests are over.

I'm assuming that you were talking to me with your comment about taking the beasts away, June. Yes, the dead wagon (I shall forever think of Monty Python in relation to it now) is the most convenient method of disposal. But it's not free, either. Burying is too labor intensive. I suggested to IH that we cremate... we still have some large brush piles... but he preferred the dead wagon because the expense is tax deductible. Of course, I had to pay for it, not him.

Well, I got it, Broni. I have DSL through our local phone company, and the service occasionally goes down when someone sits on the wrong button, shoots a service box or some such excuse. It's a small company, but at least customers are known by name, and frequently by face, too.
I loved the e-mail, by the way.

Thanks for the suggestion, Heidi, about elevating the legs. I shall give it a try next time. Glad you had a good time at the dinner/meeting.
Tami, Heidi is right, torture sounds like more fun.
Have the grandies after school today; fingers crossed for good moods all around.

Empty House. #1 son who is usually here is having a "sleepover" at his girlfriends. She lives near the uni and they don't finish lectures until 10pm on Wednesday and start again at 8am on Thursdays. It makes more sense for him to stay there - not that I have any say at all.

Hi everyone,
Vicki, we seldom have much say in the lives of our older kids. Sometimes you just have to choose your battles.
The grandies are here watching a bit of TV with their snack ... so far so good, Suzy. (hope I didn't jinx it).

i have been busy trying to get the oldest out of my house via a college scholarship in track. it takes hours contacting coaches, putting together videos, calling and e-mailing. then we go on recruiting visits to the university. we have been to BYU and boise state. both have offered scholarships, but he is not 100% sure on either one. back to the computer i go! i'm hoping oregon university and washington state still have scholarship money available. we should hear back from both schools next week. fun huh?

Theresa, I'm loosening the apron strings. They need to fight their own wars and make their own mistakes. I am there for them when they need me. I think our relationship is moving past mother-child to adult-adult or at least I hope so.
I don't want to be my mother and MIL who are continually worrying about their "children" who are all older than 40 (and in some cases grandparents). My MIL is always worried about her "baby" and, as I continually point out to her, the "baby" is nearly 57 and a grandmother.

oh, we are finally in the new house. it isn't done, or very pretty right now, but it functions fine and we have all the time in the world to prettify it. it would be better if we had all the money in the world, but hey, work with what you got right?

Congrats on being in the new house.

I've been sleeping most of the day. I went to the Post Office this morning to pick up a second pair of Grey Peacock Pheasants , and on the drive home I had to stop on the side of the road to be sick. After settling in the birds, I went to bed.

Good Morning everyone.

Victoria, like you, am not going to turn into my Mother, and be demanding etc.. when they leave the nest!!! But I think as a mother I would always worry about them.
'They have to make their own bed and lay in it!'
The Apron Strings and #1 boy have been cut. Now if only #2 boy will cut the Apron Strings and move out!!!

Rolanda, I was going to say that Mothers demand less of their sons than they do of daughters (thinking of my Mum) but then I realised that MIL demands everything from my hubby. Probably because one daughter lives in ACT and the other rarely visits(too much alike and they fight).
I wonder if we would be different if we had a daughter?

Do not know Victoria. I ponder that myself.
I am determined not to do the 'weekly' routine with my children, that my mother does, and gets all upset (she lets the others know) about how inconsiderate, unreliable you are - woe is me, nobody understands, blah blah blah etc etc...., should you are unable to do what ever it is you do with her on that particular day/night/weekend.
I want my boys to be happy to come and visit Hubby and me, or invite us, because there are no strings attached to the visit!!
And not think because you have done it today, it will happen again the same day etc the following week, and the following and the following.....

My mom has yet to cut the apron strings. I am 45 and a mother of two but she forgets that. If she tries the house and we don't answer she will call my cell phone. If I don't answer she will call my hubby's. She will keep calling every 20 seconds until we answer. It doesn't matter what we are in the middle of. When I drove to Georgia last year with Mitchell, she called me every 20 minutes telling me I should start driving home on Saturday and stay in a motel instead of staying with my friend and driving home Sunday. I ended up leaving after dinner Saturday and driving about 3 hours because she was driving me crazy. I do love her, though.

Testing is over for me and Mitchell. Dylan still has tomorrow. The younger kids take it over more days than the older ones. Both boys feel that they did good on it. I am not too worried about Mitchell. He has taken it 4 years already and twice has had a perfect score in math. He is near the top in reading, but not as good. Dylan is doing good in school so I am not worried about his score.

I am lucky, that my MIL, although she has her moments, is not that demanding.

Speaking of MIL, she is flying out this evening, holidaying in Scotland till Mid May.
