Tami... You have a Jewish Mother. They are notorious for not ever cutting the umbilical. Just learn from it. You won't change her.

Hi, Everyone! I see I have a couple of pages to get caught up again!
Sending healing vibes to Rolanda, Gail, Heidi, MizTricia, and anyone else who could use them!
Tami, Vicki and Broni, I hope you're all recovering from your colds!
Sending cyber sleep dust to those who haven't been sleeping well - Rolanda, MizTricia, Theresa, Heidi, and anyone I've missed!
Hello, V Viv, Suzy, Broni, Gail, June, Heidi, Theresa, Becky, Vicki, Tami, MizTricia, Rolanda, Mariana, Victoria, and any others.
Haven't seen Suzanne, Mamacita, eaa and others here in a while. Hello, if you should stop by.
Viv, I hope all is going well for you and your Avon business!
Suzy, I love your logic about the Do Not Call register! You're exactly right: if we should decide to change our minds and accept calls, it should be up to us to notify them! Why must we notify them every few years that we STILL don't want the calls?
June, I hope the baby-sitting of Laura went well! Did you get enough sleep before - and after? Did Laura look through your photographs?
Heidi, I found it interesting that IH doesn't like you to invite Robert to the Cattlemen's function. Does he feel like the free steak dinner should be his, instead? But wait, he went to the dinner as well? At least he acted civilly!
Becky, it was so great to see you stop by! You certainly have had more than your share the last few months! I hope your life calms down and you can pop in more frequently! Take care, Girl!
It's interesting that a number of us are Monty Python fans! We used to watch it without fail. I particularly remember the Ministry of Silly Walks, the parrot that wouldn't talk, and the Inquisition. The movies were also enjoyable. Has anyone seen Spam-A-Lot on stage?
Vicki, the sleepover arrangement DOES make sense after a late night lecture or class, then an early morning the next day. I think I would want to be as close as possible to the Uni.
How nice to see Marianna has visited. Congrats on being in the new house! Good luck to Benny (and you) and scholarship hunting! Take care of yourself!
Thinking of parent-child relationships, one of my brothers married a girl who called and talked to her mother MULTIPLE times during every day. (Reading Heidi's comment reminded me that it was a similar situation as she pointed out to Tami.) I decided that was not for me and my daughters. We try to touch bases every week or two, but they are adults and have their own lives. When I called D#1 on Sunday, she commented that I had been calling her. Well, I had called & left a message the previous week, but we hadn't spoken. Her baby #3 was due last week & I just wanted to find out if they could use any help. She called about a half hour ago. Grandie #3 has arrived!
Rolanda, you hung out the wash? My goodness, you must be feeling better!
Just a few minutes to midnight here. It has been a long day! Take care everyone, and sleep well when the time arrives! Good Night to the topsiders a

Bean and her mob saw Spamalot, then I went with hubby and D#3...D#2 still hasn't forgiven us that one! It was hilarious.
Wonderful to see a couple of mia's posting. Lovely to see you Mariana and Becky.
Mum and I were a bit the same, once a week was enough, and with our family motto being 'no news is good news' it was usually only to say that nothing much has happened this week. If I hadn't rung for a few more days that a week, she would usually check up on me! Bill has now taken up the mantle, it's good, I like it.
Speaking of Bill, he has been undergoing UV treatment for a rash he has had for nigh on 2 years, but during Mum's illness, he really didn't have the time to take care of himself. The doc has tried every avenue to get rid of this rash to no avail, until as a last ditch effort he suggested this treatment. Finally the rash has lessened and the maddening itching that was keeping Bill from sleeping well has abated. He saw the doc yesterday after the 6 week course and has extended it another 6 weeks, saying that it has reacted so well, they should continue on and try and knock it on the head completely. I am so pleased for him.

He also told me that he got the doc (a skin spoecialist) to check a nasty on his nose. Turns out it was a BCC and he had it cut out today. It was larger that first thought, and because of it's location, they have decided to put a graft over it and stitch it in. The skin was taken from Bill's ear.
When he told me yesterday, I was quite concerned that he would be driving himself to the appt. I said if when he came out he felt woozy, he should get a taxi home. Of course he scoffed at me and asked 'What, and leave my car there?' I said yes, if that's what you have to do!
Anyway, I was very pleased when he told me that he got driven there. I asked by whom and he told me it was Val, a 'girl' he went to school with and who is one of the organisers of their annual reunion. Not bad fro a bunch of 80 year olds.
When I rang, he said that they were just in the middle of watching a video together...I very quickly got off the phone after telling him to have fun!

Going with Him to the airport to say au revoir to his mum ( MIL), so need to get my act together sooner rather than later, ie NOW!!

Gail, Bill is a keeper even though a stubborn one!
My dad and I had a spesh relationship, mum and I were way too much alike. Slept on a two seater couch looking after Mum and Dad until he passed away, had the ambulance out at least twice a week and kept my full time job. Mum was so bitter that everytime I walked into the house her blood pressure increased. Miss them both but not the bad times.

Came on quickly to say that the last of the registered cows is in labor. This is her first time, but she's older than most 1st time heifers. She spent time in the show ring instead. Well, back out to check on her. She's taking her time.

Doll (she came with that name)
had a big, beautiful bull calf!!! He'll be kept as a bull, and sold as a breeder. I may have somebody show train him, and show him in next years Beef Expo. All animals entered are auctioned afterwards, and the auction is on the internet as well. A whole bank of people are bidding on animals for people on the phone, or over the 'pooter.
OK...
I'm counting my chicks before they hatch. He may not turn out to be top show material. His pedigree says he should, though.

This avatar is for Frosty. She's freaking me out with her rate of growth. When I rescued her from the bonfire, she was the size of a half dollar.
Her shell is now nearly 3" long! (Nearly fills my palm!!) At this rate, she'll outgrow my aquarium in 2 months.

Rolanda, sorry about the hot weather. I just wilt in the summer, especially if it's humid, but we don't usually get temperatures that high.
Julie, please send more details about your new grandie. Congratulations.
Gail, glad Bill is doing well. It's nice that you have such a great relationship and that he is enjoying life!
Heidi, congratulations on the new "baby". Glad Frosty is doing well. My niece has had a turtle for about 15 years now ... his name is Bummer. Over the years she has gotten larger aquariums and Bummer is now very big.
Back to work ... catch you later.

Heidi, congrats on the new bully boy calf, I hope he turns out show material.
Rolanda, hope you feel better soon. cold meat and salad sounds like a good evening meal in the heat you are having.
Gail, I am glad Bill had doc take a lok at the "something" that turned out to be a skin cancer. Nice the "girl" could drive him to the appointment and stay to watch a movie.
JULIE, congrats on the grandie, will you be making the trip to visit soon?
Mariana and Becky, good to see you here posting. Becky, hope life treats you better the rest of the year. Mariana, glad you are in the new house and everything is functional. Hope you can get it all prettified soon.
About daughters, one of mine calls every day, one calls when the mode strikes her, might be weeks or months, and the third is somewhere in between. If it goes too long with the noncaller I will send e-mail, checking on her. It is difficult to find her home and not on the phone, busy life, so e-mail works and she phones me when she had some spare time.
We have had rain and rain and rain the last 36 hours, thunder, lightning, flash flood warnings, river flooding of area rivers, the river at my favorite park got out of bank and covered the parking area and access road. Many local roads were under water, we are talking major highways. I had rescheduled an appointment with the bone doc, mighty glad I did. If I could have got there over the roads that usually flood here I would still not have made it to appointment, I read that the 4 lane highway in front of office and hospital was under water for several hours. Then if all that were not enough, we had a tornado watch yesterday afternoon and last night!
Thanks for the good wishes for catching up on my sleep, they worked! I slept last night! Not as much thunder, hip was only mildly achey and I ignored it and slept long and hard.
OK, I need breakfast or brunch, food of some sort. Everyone have a good Maen, and hugs to all.

Morning all!
I call my mother most days during my 'free time' on my phone. It's usually just a 2 minute call unless there is 'news'.
My MIL died when we had been married for less than a year so I didn't have her making demands. We were stealing her mail though and only giving her the fun stuff. She was a little off kilter in her last months and was doing weird things with her bills. I had a strange experience then though. My MIL and FIL ate dinner at precisely 5 o'clock. I got home from work around 7 o'clock, as did hubby. Hubby's nephew and his wife were cooking dinner for them. They ripped into me for not cooking too. It was nasty!

Marianna! Sorry I missed you! I hope you are successful finding a scholarship for Benny.
Heidi, congrats on your new calf.
Gail, the same day I had the BCC cut out from above my eye a friend had a skin graft for one cut out of her nose. They took the skin from near her ear too. It looked dreadful! The ugliest thing you'd ever seen. The last time I saw her I couldn't even see where it had been. It's incredible how well it healed.

Theresa, your work is interfering with your time in here! Watch out or we might think you have a life or something!
Gail, I love that Val is an 80 year old girl, and I'm glad that Bill is hanging out with her. It's nice.
I never saw Spamalot on stage. The closest we came was Eric Idle 'Exploits Monty Python', which was hilarious.

Suzy, I would never get a life or make any drastic changes without the permission of my SA friends!!!
I get along well with my MIL; she has always treated me like her daughter. She can be a bit stubborn at times, but I guess we all have our faults. The stubborness has been passed on to my husband, although he denies it.
The weather here has been wonderful for the last week or so. But the rain is moving in and it's supposed to last for at least four days. At least it should remove the rest of the snow on the ground. This weekend we change our time to an hour ahead (daylight savings time). Canada has only one province (Saskatchewan) that does not change the time. What about others in Sudokuland, do your times change in spring and fall?

What a lot of pleasant reading this morning, very chatty.
Thanks for the best wishes and kind words about Bill, I think you can tell I have a soft spot for him. He and Mum sit on my puter desk next to the monitor, so I get to see them every day.
Last night was a bit of a weird one. Hubby and I went to bed about midnight and he fell straight to sleep which is wonderful because in the past he had a lot of trouble actually getting to sleep. I read for a while, the bedside light never seems to disturb the other. I am currently reading a book reccommended to me by my D#2 who bought it in an op shop. It's a good read so I read a bit more than I usually would, so by the time I put the light off, I was lying in the dark with my thoughts. Found myself having a silent blubber for a while, a dose of the feeling sorry for one's self, but once I had got it out of my system, I slept pretty well then till just before the alarm went off. Funny old night...

Good Morning all!
3 day weekend with hubby has started. I didn't even wake up until after 8! I think it was caused by getting up to let the dog out this morning at 3 and then not being able to go back to sleep.
It's windy here so I thought it was a perfect day to hsaw towels - it will probably rain now.
Have a great day everyone!
