Tami... Frosty is in a 55 gallon aquarium right now. She has a raft for getting out of the water, and the lights are supposed to simulate sunlight. And I feed her all that she'll clean up. I'll probably put her in my fishpond in a few months, but I want to use up a lot of this turtle food first.

Good maEn everyone. Sorry I haven't been here in a while, life's gotten in the way. My aunt Sandra has had some health issues. She's fainted twice and fell in her townhouse. Fortunately, the day she fell my parents were driving from Tampa to Ft. Lauderdale (a 4 hour drive) She compressed a disk in her back and had surgery to fix it. She came home Monday afternoon and was scared to stay alone. She has a couple of neighbors who look out for her, but she wanted (demanded) that I drop everything here and get on a plane to come out there. Hard to drop my Mary Kay business and get the pet sitter organized, etc. Long story short, my mom flew out there yesterday and is coming home Sunday. The weird thing is, she can get live-in care from the rehab center but didn't want them there. My dad has had a case of shingles (which I understand is VERY painful) but he's doing better. My parents are coming to Utah in June for a week, I can't wait!! They've never been here. Hugs to those who need them, haven't read the 8 pages I missed yet, but hope to get caught up. Take care everyone, TTFN

Hello, Everyone!

Thank you for reminding me, Victoria! We knew the baby was going to be a girl, but of course, all of you didn't. She's a healthy, beautiful 8 pound, 6 ounce girl named Lila. (The i is long, as in lie; the a sounds like the u in up.) We haven't heard what her middle name will be. The nurses hadn't measured her length when we spoke to our daughter and son-in-law last night. (Well, mostly he listened and didn't speak.) It may be a few weeks before we get to go see them, as his family, our other D and their former nanny are all scheduled for visits. D doesn't want the 2 older ones to think everyone is coming to see the baby, so hopes to spread out visiting.

I truly apologize for leaving everyone hanging about our new grandie. She was born in late evening, and it was even later by the time we heard any information. This morning I reread the email I sent to my siblings and could tell I must have been VERY tired when I composed it. I also didn't think to explain how to pronounce her name in the email.

I'll try to get my act together soon. We've had several LONG days in a row.

on the new grandie, Julie. I like the name Lila. I knew someone with that name, but ending in an "h".... pronounced the same.

In 15 minutes I'm going to feed the dogs , then do a cow check. I'm not doing as many of them since we're winding down. There are a few cows and heifers to go, including our favorite cow "Sassy". Sassy is now our oldest cow. 14 years ago she was a bottle calf, a twin rejected by mama. She's still a pet who likes being scratched behind the ears.

Hello, Victoria, Gail, Rolanda, Heidi, Broni, MizTricia, Suzy, Vicki, Theresa, Tami, Suzanne, and anyone I've missed!

Gail, what wonderful news about Bill - the improvement in his rash, the "girl" who helped by taking him to the doctor and was invited to stay for a video, etc. Wishing him a speedy recovery from the removal of the BCC/graft! How nice that the phone calls are regular between you and him! My Dad was like that, as well, until his hearing became too bad and phone calls became a big frustration for him and the caller/callee!

Rolanda, you are setting such a precedent for the rest of us - up and making meals, walking to and from errands, doing the sloshy thing, including gnignah the clothes out to dry! Please remember to take care of YOU! I'm sending COOLING thoughts, as well! (Like Theresa, I wilt in the heat, especially heat with humidity!) Don't over-do.

Heidi, what wonderful news about the new bull calf! I hope your dreams for him come true! Also am amazed at Frosty's growth! She'll be big and strong by the time spring truly sets in!

MizT, you were so smart to change you doc appointment. I hope the rain is over for a while and the water subsides. SOO glad you had a better night's sleep! I wish the same or better for tonight.

Broni, so glad to hear your cold is better! Good swimming to your new goldfish!

Gail, Suzy, Theresa, Heidi, and anyone elso who will admit to it - it's so good to hear that others also occasionally have a good cry for no or little apparent reason! I think hormones are involved. That, plus we spend so much effort sometimes holding in our emotions that they occasionally just spill over. (That's my theory, anyway!)

Suzanne, you have been VERY busy! I hope your Aunt Sandra is doing better! Also sending soothing positive vibes for your Dad and his shingles! At least we got to see you for a few minutes. Hopefully things will settle down soon and you'll be able to visit more often!

Good night sudokuland. My insomnia is over, hip is better and I slept last night, then a FOUR hour nap today! I have never taken a four hour nap before, unless really sick. Not sure what is going on, but I am happy to be getting needed sleep again. But 4 hours?? give me a break. Hubby was in and out of the house while I slept, that usually wakes me. Huumm, did the phone not ring in 4 hours? gee, caller ID says it rang 3 times, I rarely sleep through a phone call. I was not asleep I was passed out, unconscious hehehe. Now the question is, will I sleep tonight? tune in tomorrow, same station for the next episode of . . . . .

Gail, hope the bout of tears helped, I know sometimes for me, nothiing helps whatever as much as a good cry. Tonight, no crying, just a good sleep for you, OK by you?

Rolanda, walking out in that heat you are having, so soon after surgery is not a good thing. I am glad you survived, and hope no ill effects from it. I hope you check back in when you return from visit to the surgeon, and he says everything is fine.

Vicki, hope the dog lets you sleep tonight, no more up middle of the night to take care of a pet's needs. I know, I get up with my cats, if they decide they need something there is no sleeping till they are satisfied!

Theresa, Most of the USA has daylight savings time, I think Arizona is the only state that opted out of it here. There might be some local communities that opt out but I am unaware. We change Sunday at 2 am, spring forward. I think Alaska is thinking about opting out, but has yet to pass a bill in state legislature to get that done. BTW, in USA the time changes according to local time, so it could be very confusing if you were up and trying to coordinate a time from east coast to west coast.

Today was nice enough I had windows open, how nice to have fresh air inside! Kitties love it , they like to find a window seat and sniff the breezes. They also stay out later when it is still warm nights. Well, they are a lot like 2 year olds, felt cooped up for the last 2 days inside with the rain and storms, and we have more rain tomorrow forecast, so let them get out and enjoy tonight. they will probably come in when hubby comes back in from his office out bqck.

Heidi, I hope all goes well with your next calf check! I'm curious how many years a cow is able to reproduce, especially since Sassy is 14. How many calves has she had? Be sure to giver her a scratch! And give a scratch or two to the dogs when you feed them. Take care, and I hope you sleep well when you're finally able to call it a night!

I'm about to call it a night here. I have some research I need to do. Take care, everyone! Hugs, positive vibes and prayers to all who will benefit from them! Hope to see you all tomorrow! Good Night!

MizT... large parts of Indiana don't have daylight savings time. The cities do have it. It makes figuring out the time there very difficult. I remember some serious mix-ups at summer dog shows there. The people running the shows admitted that nobody there knew what time it was.

Julie... Sassy has had 13 calves... including twins. She'll stay here all her life, and have calves as long as she can. Most cows end their useful life around her age or a little older. I've known cows to calve up to 18 years old. I believe the record is 23 years.

The appointment at the Doctor went well. I do not need to take any Thyroid Medication. and Unless there are problems to the healing process, I do not need to see the Doctor again.
The operation went well, the pathology of the removed thyroid and nodular, showed all clear. He explained what he removed.
The tiredness, and the soreness will continue for some weeks yet, if anything as the healing and tightness improves, it could get more painful.
Recovery can take longer in some than others. It could be a good 6+ weeks before I am back to my normal bubbly self!!

Evening all!
Home from another Pride gig. The girls sang at the Lioness Quilt Show. They did really well, mostly solos to keep the volume down. The new Pride girl was wonderful. She has a lovely voice. Of course her mother was frustrated that she didn't smile and bounce like the others - we told her we'd have to pull out some old videos to show her what the other girls were like when they started...

MizT, I think if you were tired enough to nap for 4 hours you will probably still sleep well tonight. I am sending sleeping dust over the cyber waves to help you....

Gail, I'm a lot better and hope you are too...

Rolanda, I am hoping for you that the 6 weeks move quickly and you are soon feeling like yourself again. If not, enjoy the opportunity to laze and read and play and relax and catch up with yourself. That will be better than a holiday because while you're on holiday there are things you want to do and places you want to go... and don't let your mother nag you when she gets home! Mothers don't need us, they want us...

Suzanne, just because you don't have a boss that makes you clock in 9-5 doesn't mean you can drop things and take off. People assume that because you're your own boss you don't have to work as hard, and you actually have to work harder. I hope you don't have any guilt over not dropping everything and taking off to look after your aunt. Now if you lived around the corner and she had no other options available to her, maybe then you could feel guilty, but not in the situation you described. I hope I am not as demanding and stubborn when I am old and grey.

Sending thoughts and wishes to your dad. I too have heard that shingles are painful. I knew a woman in her 30's who was in agony with them!

Roll on June so you get to see your parents - wonder why they chose summer to visit?

Julie, Lila is a beautiful name! We also have to tell Aussies how to pronounce Ebob's real name and it's the same phonetic rule that applies to Lila. She is a big girl!! I know what her parents mean about not wanting the other kids to feel left out, but I don't think they have to worry. Ebob didn't start to think about any of that stuff until Ally was 6 months old - then she asked if we could put her back.

Heidi, give Sassy an extra scratch from me please... Your comment about her staying on your farm her whole life made me thing about the song one of the Pride girls has started singing, a country song, The Long Yard by Slim Dusty. I think I've mentioned it in here before... It's about a horse, not a cow, but an old horse who is retired to the best paddock when he is too old to work.

Julie, congratulations on your new Grand daughter Lila. A pretty name.
Nice to see Suzanne and Viv.
I had two daughters and Laura and Laura's puppy here at different times over the last couple of days and when they all went home yetserday I then had one hours sleep. Now I am up when I should be asleep. I have to umpire for the Men's Pennant Bowls this afternoon so no chance of a nanna nap today.( I am not a very confident umpire so I hope I do not get called much. Generally you only get called to do measurements...those that they are unable to measure themselves. You then get out better equipment than they can carry in their pocket)

Heidi, I love all your little "smilie thingies" - there seems to be one for every occasion.
Suzanne, nice to meet you. Hope your life settles down a bit. When we are younger we look after our children; when we get older we have to look after our older relatives. Sometimes their demands are excessive.
When my mother moved into an apartment I would go see her 3+ times a day. One morning she phoned me at 3:30 and said she had a doctor's appointment that day, could I come and help her with her bath. I told her it was way too early and she should try and get some more sleep. About 15 minutes later the phone rang again and she demanded I go there or she would have a bath on her own (something we had asked her not to do because of her health problems). So I went over. Then the next day I ran into one of her neighbours and she complained about water running at all hours of the night in my mother's apartment. This neighbour was a busy-body, so I basically in a polite way told her there was nothing that said my mother couldn't run water in the middle of the night if she so wanted (in other words MYOB). Oh, the stories I could tell you.

Hi there everyone. Long time no see.
It has been lovely to catch up reading. We haven't had the internet or phone for about a week. There has been soooo much rain, that the phone line pit was half full of water and we had a broken wire.I don't know how but we could make calls but not receive them.Doesn't make any sense to me.
Still more rain forcast, which I am sick of.Go from not enough to too much.
The EN course has been a total mix up...the 1st assignment was handed in and then we were told we had to do another one as we were given the wrong one.The same goes for a 2nd.Many of us were so annoyed, that now they will accept the 1st but not the 2nd.Talk about incompetence! Had a cry over the hours of wasted time and then I became angry.Am now at the stage that I just have to get on with it.
I will keep popping back in today (hopefully)as I redo some work.Catch you later.Sorry about the whinge, but I do feel better.

Gail, I think we would all like to come to your house for meals. You are making me hungry.
Rolanda, hope the healing goes quickly!
Julie, I love the new grandie's name.
I will be looking after my oldest grandie after school today as the youngest one has gone for a doctor's appointment. My oldest has epilepsy and then a few nights ago my daughter noticed that the youngest one was jerking in her sleep. So off to the doctor for her today to find out what's going on. Fingers crossed that it's not epilepsy also. The oldest one, who will be 7 in May, still has a chance of outgrowing it by the age of 12, so we are hoping that's the case.
Catch you all later. Haven't had my lunch yet. After looking at Gail's menu, somehow a bowl of soup just isn't going to suffice.

Theresa, I can't imagine having to get up to help your mother bathe at that time of morning. It would have been hard to see her be that way. I soooo hope the youngest grandie was just having a bad dream! Sending SA vibes over the ocean....

Heidi, I hope the storm settled down so the animals could relax. Is your avatar one of your cows??

Nola, sorry about the assignment problems with your EN course. I remember you saying you were all caught up and ahead of schedule ... now this!

My youngest grandie has to go for an EEG to get the possibility of epilepsy checked out. Her doctor was unable to detect anything out of the ordinary, so the EEG is just a precautionary measure at this point.

Off to "fling food". Hope to be back later.
