Now that I did my good deed for the day, (I woke up early and reminded IH about Daylight Savings so he wouldn't miss church... he HAD forgotten) I'm heading back to bed. It's another wet, gloomy day.

Congratulations to your son Vicki. It is important to have males in that area with so many children from one parent families and they often miss out on the male influence.
Enjoy the new computer Rolanda.Pleased your computer is fixed Tami. Easier for you to cause trouble.

I was so tired I went to bed early so now I am awake in the middle of the night.
We went to my daughter's 'farm' yesterday as she had Laura riding the neighbours pony, teaching it to trot. They have only had it one week and Laura will be riding in a show next Saturday. They did go to one last Saturday but the pony would not trot so Laura only got a red ribbon. It was the first show for both Laura and the pony. (photo on my page)
Ken got on the tractor and slashed a lot of her paddocks (she has 10 acres) and I cleaned up a bit inside the house for her. The pup had got hold of one of her lambswool slippers and it was everywhere!

Suzy, I blame all the media etc for our lack of innocence these days. I grew up talking to everyone I met, especially older people. Now we are all suspicious of of everyone. I can imagine what a delightful picture the two girls made.
Cannot remember anything else. Hugs to you all.(and back to bed for me)

Greetings friends, it is cloudy and windy here, and a bit cool. I have not got my plants moved to containers yet, should do that tomorrow.
I am more than half way through reading a book and you know, I am now almost certain I have read it before. Hubby went to the library other day, brought home 3 books for me from the book sale. They have a promotion going now, you can buy a large cloth shopping/book bag with the library name on it for $3 and get 3 books from the book sale nook. Price of a hard back to buy is $1 each, and he likes to buy books, not check them out for his reading, he is slow, reading only a few pages a day. So, we now have 3 of the bags, I take them when I shop and let the stores keep thier plastic bags. all this to say, he does know my taste in books! The first of the 3 books he picked I realized I had read in about 10 pages. this is the second one, and I kept thinking it seemed familiar, but now about 2/3 in I do remember reading, but not how it ends, so I will keep reading it.
anyone else do that? Decide you have read a book some time ago when half finished??
Heidi, did you stay up till 2 am just to change the clocks? Or it just happened to be almost 2 when you got sleepy? My puter is not changing time as it should, it will change in 3 weeks, the OLD time for change. Hubby has looked to see why this one did not update to the new time, but obviously did not find it. So I just changed the time myself,a nd when cpmputer does an auto change next month, I will change it once again hehehe.
I know I have told this before, but there are some new people here, but my MIL always got up at 2 am to set her clocks up or back. she set an alarm, woke up, changed clocks and went back to bed. Once hubby was old enough to realize most people did not do this, but changed before going to bed, he tried, for years to tell her it was not necessary to change at 2 am. No, time did not change till 2 am, and she had to get up then and do it. I do wonder what she thought might happen if she did not change the time at 2 am?? I should have asked her that.

Tami...glad to hear that Mitchell is feeling better and your computer is too.
Suzy..hope you can get some pain relief for the jaw and get on the waiting list in the mean time.I'd hate to think about the cost now for reconstruction.
MizT.. the saucer magnolia's are a magnificent tree, spring in your area must be so pretty.
Vicki...congratulations on your son's graduation. Was he in the Sunday Mail paper?
June..loved your pix!I got a shock to see the colour of the mud.BLACK,oh yuk.Hope Laura has better luck next time in getting the pony to trot.
It is online tutoring this morning so I had better get to some revision. It feels like nothing much is sinking in to this old brain.

Good Morning all! Happy Spring to the northeners. Happy Mothers day Brenda.
Nola, it was the Sunday Mail. Of course he is not mentioned by name. The article is about the lack of male teachers in the early years and how valuable their input is. He won't be graduating this year as he still has a prac to catch up on. He pulled out of the subject and has to repeat it and this will mean he won't graduate until mid 2011.
It's time for this little black duck to have some brekky and get ready for another week at work.

Morning all!
I slept late this morning! The doc put me on muscle relaxers for 4 days last time so I'm trying out these OTC for 4 days before I give up on them. I didn't even see the kids before they went to school!!
Vicki, congratulations to your son. He is helping to break stereotypes!
Heidi, do you have Lioness clubs in the US?
June, Laura looked so grown up on the horse. It's wonderful that she has this opportunity even living in the city.
MizT, I know what you mean about books you've read before. It's usually safe for me to read them again as, except in exceptional cases, I forget what happened not long after I've finished the book!
Tami, glad to hear Mitchell is getting better. I notice that he missed school and yet you kept going although you had the same thing. I hope you are looking after you!
Nola, I don't think it's your brain, I think it's left over frustration from having the beginning of the course messed up. Deep breaths! Thinking of you!!
Gail, it sounds like you had a wonderful lunch!
Brenda, happy Mothers Day! I hope you are getting to see your kids.

If one of the men here said something primitive like that, they'd get their b*tts kicked. We've got some strong women in our local club, and the President and major officers in the State are women.

I think there's a country town/city difference here too Heidi. I didn't realise how prejudiced and s3xist this town was until I lived in Sydney. It's slowly changing, but too slowly as far as I'm concerned.

Hi Everyone...Just dropping in to say hello and send out greetings for Mother's Day to those celebrating..I know Brenda is, and I hope its a great day too.
Congrats to your son Vicki.
Heidi, I like the sound of your Lions group. I'm sure it does well under the direction of those often maligned women.
Suzy...get well wishes for you. Hope all turns out okay for you in short order. Good news about the new computers, repaired ones, and healing sick folks...Mitchel and Rola keep getting better each day. Tami, please take it easy.
MizT, I too find myself half-way through a book with that feeling of familiarity, but keep going to make sure the end doesn't change up on me.
As you can see, I have read a little here, and feel all the better for it! Now I'm off to walk the dog, watch a little TV, read and of course, a little more face book time is needed before I get to bed. Will be popping in again soon. Love , peace, good cheer to all...hugs for those in need as well as continued healing vibes...take care and know that I care.

Suzy... The Lion's clubs here are different than the norm in the area. The amount of s3xism in rural Kentucky is off the chart. Nobody would ever contact me about buying any sheep, when I had them. They'd only want to deal with IH, even though they knew that the sheep were mine ONLY. Now with MY cattle, the same thing happens. IH gets calls on his cell phone or office phone. People don't talk to me. This is also a heavily populated Amish area, where women are second class citizens, and don't get involved in any business dealings.

Another long day, so another late night! Good Evening, Sudoku Friends!
Hello, Rolanda, Suzy, Heidi, Gail, Vicki, June, MizTricia, Tami, Nola and Mamacita! Hello to everyone I've missed!
Happy Mother's Day, Brenda and anyone else celebrating!
Rolanda, I hope you're enjoying your new desktop computer! Good luck with the sorting - and the storing - of items from the caravan! Suzy, you are so practical to think about the storing!
Suzy, good luck finding a surgeon and hopefully not having to pay an arm and a leg! Thinking of you, sending prayers and positive vibes, and hoping the pain subsides! Ah, now I understand: senior baseball is adult baseball. I still think as a young adult, I would have felt uncomfortable hearing that remark in my father's presence.
Gail, your visit, dinner & dessert with friends sounds like a good (& yummy) idea!
Vicki, S#! and his girlfriend also made a yummy sounding dessert! I'm probably gaining weight just thinking about those desserts! Good for your son and congratulations on graduating with an Early Childhood degree! There once was a time when men working with young children was considered questionable. I think young children have fathers or should have fathers or father figures. Plus, half of young children are boys! Sorry, June said it so much better!
Heidi, I hope your hubby appreciated your getting up to remind him about Daylight Savings Time!
June, sounds like you had a busy day. No wonder you were tired! I hope you were successful going back to sleep! Good luck to Laura on Saturday, and I hope the pony will trot!
MizTricia, not only have I started reading a book only to discover I have read it before, I have also watched a television program with no recollection of having seen it - or remembering its ending. Libraries in our area have periodic book sales, mostly from donated books. Hubby gets frustrated because I like to have books but don't have time to read as much as I would like and the books accumulate. Great idea to have a bag you can buy for a low cost and fill with several books!
How nice to see Mamacita here! We have missed you. You are always welcome when you have the time to visit!
Heidi and Suzy, since we live near Chicago, I forget how other areas can still treat women as second or third class citizens. You may be right about the more rural/agrarian areas as opposed to the city/urban areas. It doesn't make it any less frustrating, though, does it? Maybe it makes women who deal with it stronger?

Hi all.
The weather has been beautiful here today, so hubby and I have been making hay whilst the sun shines!
We pulled the spent cucumber and corn plants out of the vegie garden, transplanted some neglected seedlings, and generally pottered around the garden.

Bl**dy white cockatoos!!! Just heard a commotion on the roof and the Bl**dy birds were picking the green grapefruit and oranges off the trees, Flying onto the roof with them and rolling them down into the gutter. We will have to get up on the roof and remove them. If it rains the gutters will block and the water could back into the house.

Welcome home Steve. How did the paper go?
When I was away I saw that you had been to Vietnam. Was that a holiday trip? We have been there several times and I really enjoy the country. I did not have the time to ask when I saw the reference to your trip.
Nice to see you drop in Mamacita.
I did get back to sleep. We have been to the city this afternoon. We were to have lunch before our appointment, but Hubby chased around doing things that could have waited till later, so we had lunch at nearly 4pm. Only good thing is he will not want much for dinner.

I do agree Heidi, it is just that I put about 50 pieces of mangled and whole fruit in the garbage this morning and there is probably that much to pick up again! They are so cheeky and completely ignore me until I get the hose and hit them with a jet of water. I do not really used the grapefruit but I do like to use all the oranges.

Greetings Sudokuland friends!! I hate to be a copy cat Heidi, but it is grey and cloudy, damp and windy today, cooler than norm for March, not a fun day. Thumb is complaining today, so I shall not type much, just wanted to say hello and read a while. THUMB is why I have not been here Vicki, has nutting to do with your arrival, unless you stepped on it when I was not looking hehehe.
June I too would hate to see the fruit wasted by the birds. If they were eating it cause they were hungry is one thing, but to just make a mess for you and not even fly away when you came out, some nerve.
Gail, since you have your garden all neat and tidy you may come work in my container garden, I am not making much progress.
Hulie, hubby will be amazed at me, when we are watching TV, that I do not remember seeing a program he assures me we watched together. but I enjoy reruns more than he does hehehe.
My bed and warm covers are so enticing this cool day, nap time! perhaps this thumb will be better when I wake, I have veggies I just bought to prepare for dinner and to put in freezer. I was lucky today on the mark down veg bin. Lots of zucchini, and mushrooms, lettuce, apples, and lemons.
