The pony has gone to her new home. They were thrilled with her. And she couldn't have a better home.

They were impressed with her intelligence. When I first picked her up, I had a hard time loading her into my trailer. I had to use a second rope looped behind her to encourage her from behind while I encouraged her from the front. This time, we lead her up to their trailer, she stopped, so I picked up a rope to loop over her butt. She saw the rope and jumped in the trailer.

Glad it went well, Heidi. Even though you know she's going to a new home, it must still be a little sad. Maybe it's just me, I'm such a sap! Whenever I find a home for one of the rescued cats, I am liable to shed a few tears.

Well, not getting anything done outside today. I find it very cool and with all the rain lately, my arthritis is acting up, but only a little. I figure if I do yard work, tomorrow will be worse and I won't get anything done. The damp cold seems to go right through me. Still early in the season here, so I better just cool my jets. But there's tons of other ffuts I could be doing instead of playing around on the computer. Notice I said "could" be doing.
MizT, I looked at your photo gallery and I love the quilts. My husband bought me a book on quilting for beginners and I thought I might like to give it a try next winter. I might have to pick your brain a time or two if I run into too much trouble. Did you make the baskets as well? You are a very talented person as evidenced by your photos.

MizT, I laughed about my spelling error! I don't even notice most when I'm reading, the abusy one was just funny because I thought it was one of those made up words I sometimes use...
Heidi, now that I've had the lawn mowers here I understand that horses have personalities, feelings, attachments and love attention. I bet the pony was feeling sad about leaving the other horses, just like a person would if they had to leave home.
Theresa, I also have lots of things I could be doing but figure it can wait a while. It's 7am here so I have all day. My cold seems to be much better today so I should have lots of energy - hahahahahahahahaha

Theresa, nope on making the baskets. Hubby and I just went to a craft day at my favorite local park, and I thought the baskets were colorful and took photos of them.
OH, hope you enjoy the quilting and if I can help, let me know. I learned all I know about quilting from free sites on the internet and from internet quilting friends. I have missed quilting since these hands have been acting up.
I did some outside work today. I planted a few more containers today. Can only do a few a day, cause even with the splint, the thumb does move some when doing such, and it complaines if I move it over much. I got the salvia planted today, and a sweet potato vine. More work now, emptying, washing and then filling containers with new or improved potting soil. It was easier when I was filling new containers.

SUZY, glad the cold is better today! Nope, it does not do to be too ambitious at 7 am, as you said, you have all day. tis 4 pm here, my day is winding down and I find I did not get all done I should have. I should report to that K room and do a good (dirty word) before start9ng to fling food. I did make our entree, beef tips with mushrooms and onions, and the K looks as if I cooked for an army!

Hi all. Just stopping by for a minute. Need to fling food in a bit.
I live in jeans, even in Florida. In summer all I wear is shorts. I can even wear jeans to school but I usually wear a pair of dressier pants. I have a pair of capris I wear to school at times. I have even seen some of the teachers wear shorts on the hottest days.
Julie, I also like your posts but agree, say something about what you are doing also.

Morning Tami, I've noticed here that the primary schools are starting to get heating and air conditioning, but the high schools don't seem to have either - maybe some ceiling fans. Teachers have to dress as if they are working outside!
MizT, I hope your hand is a lot better after the surgery. Do you have any idea yet how long the recovery will be?
I haven't heard anything from Outward Bound so Ebob must be feeling better and coping okay. She still has 6 days to go. I bet she uses up all of the hot water in a shower when she gets home.

A week to go here Gail. Ebob had Friday off, worked Saturday, Sunday, Monday, we headed off to Canberra on Tuesday, she went to OB on Wednesday and I will pick her up next Sunday, just in time to go to school on Monday. Do you think she will be rested??? Hang on, that might be a pupil free day, she might get a day off. I'll have to check.

Suzy, I do know I will be in a cast for 6 weeks. then they say extensive physical therapy. I am hoping I can do most of the exercises at home just going in once a week for guidance and new instructions, cause I cannot afford much more than that. I plan on working on it diligently, so if that helps, perhaps I can reduce the time needed for recovery?? It will be better if the pain is relieved, cause at the moment it hurts to some degree all the time. they say this pain will be gone and it will be a lot less painful to exercise the thumb.

MizT, that sounds like a long process, but worth it in the end. My face also hurts to some degree all the time, it has since I was 22, but it is getting worse now. I'm hoping that xrays etc will show that surgery isn't the answer for mine...

I forgot to tell you about a bargain I got while in Canberra. We were wandering down the road looking for something to eat after Ebob saw the doc and saw a black dress hanging up in Vinnies. We got the dress for $1 and a pair of black gloves for $2 - the beginnings of a costume of for the 'horror' themed party we will be going to in a couple of weeks for $3!!

Good Morning all!
We are expecting visitors this week - niece & her hubby and 3 children from Canberra. It's lovely to see them but we aren't certain where the kids will sleep. We only have an extra spare single mattress, so hubby is going to see if our blow up mattress is still ok. Otherwise we will be trying to borrow mattresses elsewhere.
#1 son came off his bicycle last night. He was going around a corner, downhill when a rock slipped out under the wheel. End result was a trip to the doctor for 3 stitches - 2 in one knee and 1 in the other - and a very sore young man. Not much sympathy was offered by either parent as he is always a bit gung-ho resulting in various scrapes and cuts. At least there were no broken bones this time!

In case anybody is interested, the baby Gouldian Finches are growing well. The older 4 (including the one with the deformed foot) are covered with their baby feathers and are almost as big as their parents! The cripple is the biggest of the 4. There are 2 smaller ones in another nest that I'm about to put leg bands on. Then there are 3 other nests that haven't hatched yet. I'll probably have to sell some young birds this year.

Good Evening to everyone who posts and to those who just stop by and read!
Hi, Suzy, Gail, Heidi, Rolanda, Judy, June, MizTricia, Theresa, and anyone I've missed.
Suzy, I like your idea of "boring" color pants. My idea exactly, except I substitute navy blue for the brown you mentioned! As you said, most colors of tops will go with those colors! I have fewer pairs of shoes that I wear, though. Because of bad feet and orthotics, I no longer wear dress shoes. I have all black "walking" shoes for outside of the house and mostly white for inside the house, as the feet complain if I go barefoot or just wear socks.
For those who have asked, I'm not up to much. Still getting to the gym most days to "work out," but having more aching/hurting issues with my new knees. Our acupuncturist and 2 of the trainers at the gym have all said they think I am doing too much. I don't know, as I've never been an exercise nut and assume one should lengthen time or "work load" to improve. I went from 10 minutes on the treadmill up to 30 to 40 minutes and increased the incline up to 2.5 or 3.0 and increased the speed from 1.0 mile per hour up to 2.5 to 3.5 miles per hour. I was doing both the treadmill and bicycle (about 20 - 25 minutes) each day, plus work with weights, which I was increasing. I was scheduled for a return visit with the doctor from rehab tomorrow, but it would involve about 3 hours total drive time plus at least an hour at the office by the time I would actually get to see the doctor. There are some other issues consuming our time, and I didn't feel I should commit to that much time, so I postponed to the next available appointment - on June 1.
Gail, good luck to you and D#3 with your walking pact. It DOES make it easier to have an exercise partner. Hubby is supposed to be mine, but has been quite tired recently and will keep postponing our departure time, then often decides not to go at all. Frustrating.
Rolanda, I hope all is going well with your Mum! You haven't said too much about her stay at Hotel Rolanda. I hope all has gone well and that her switch to her sister's home goes well!
Gail, I'm delighted that your meet-up with Amelia and entourage went as well as we expected that it might! Wishing Amelia and her hubby a wonderful month of caravaning!
Judy, we have missed you! Thank you for sharing Adam's latest performance. What fun to see skits evolve and see new ones! Will you be taking pictures of the garden when everything gets planted? Hopefully you can pop in a bit more frequently!
June, we are glad you have returned home safely! It's too bad that a lovely week away can leave you with so much to do! We'll be glad to have you pop in when you can!
MizT, so glad to hear that your size keeps decreasing! Good for you! We know you have worked hard and continue to work hard to be sure you're eating the right foods, plus trying to fit in your walks! I like your idea of low benches to raise

Ah ha, I'm learning to check the posts. (Since a long post just ends with "More ..." I usually don't realize I've lost parts of comments.) Yep, lost some of that one. Here it is.
MizT, so glad to hear that your size keeps decreasing! Good for you! We know you have worked hard and continue to work hard to be sure you're eating the right foods, plus trying to fit in your walks! I like your idea of low benches to raise up planters away from those working on the lawn! At our last house, tulips were planted in various groupings - not raised beds - and it was a continual challenge to keep hubby from mowing them down the minute they quit blooming! At our current house, we have a young man to do the mowing and much of the yard work.
Heidi, I hope the pony calmed down and realized it would be going to a fine new home. I didn't realize they would get so attached to the other horses/ponies. Will the move be traumatic?
Theresa, have you met your latest deadline? You always seem to be busy between your deadlines and the swear word stuff that needs to be done to keep a household running!

Julie... Anita has other horses there, besides being a popular horse trainer around here. The pony will have plenty of new friends. Besides, right now I have my 2 bulls in with the horses. The other horses get along fine with them, the pony did not. Yesterday I saw her run up to Rede (my 5 yr. old bull)and kick him. She will not be in with bulls there.

I see Tami and Victoria have also commented today on this page. Hi, Tami! Hi, Victoria!
Heidi, will the pony's new home have other horses or ponies to be friends with it?
Theresa, I hope your arthritis doesn't act up too much. You're right; it might just be better to wait for a bit more warmth and dry air before deciding to work outside!
Suzy, I'm glad to hear that your cold is doing better. I hope Ebob's is better as well! (No news is good news.)
MizT, I love your idea of many containers of flowers & other growing things! Do you need to water them more than if they were planted in the ground?
Tami, does your school district have a dress code for teachers - or "guidelines"? When I student taught (fall of 1969), I always wore dresses. In the fall of my first year of teaching, the furnace in the school (built in late 1890's) went out, so for a few days, our principal allowed us to wear a nice pantsuit. Many changes in what people wear in 40 years - even to church!
MizT, I hope your 6 weeks in a cast fly by quickly, though it will seem like forever at the time! Be sure to find out from your physical therapist how and when to add additional repetitions or new exercises! Wishing all the best when it happens!
MizT and Suzy, wish there were some way to ease the constant pain! It will be SO good when it is gone! Suzy, hoping the doctor can come up with a plan to help with your pain - without surgery as you requested.
Heidi, enjoy the 24-hour respite!
Suzy, the quilt your grandmother made is beautiful! Do you use it on a regular basis? My paternal grandmother made a quilt for each grandchild. Since one of our cats spends a good part of each day and night on our bed, the quilt is NOT on the bed.
Heidi, good luck with the chicks, the new peach-faced love birds you have bought, and the Gouldian finches!
Victoria, enjoy the visit from your niece and her family! If you have a sleeping bag or two, the children might enjoy sleeping on the floor. Hoping #1 son heals quickly from his run-in with the ground!
Heidi, if you're able to sell some young birds, does that mean the birding enterprise has become almost self-sustaining?

I don't know about it being self sustaining, but it should help a little. It looks like we're gonna have a huge finch chick crop this year.

Afternoon all!
I am happy now. I got to read about Julie... I do wish you hadn't put off your check up with your rehab doctor, but that was a big chunk of the day so understand how other things can get in the way. It does sound like you are doing a LOT of exercise!! Not being an exercise nut myself I have no idea whether it is too much. Ebob has funny feet and wears orthotics too. It's funny how we found out. She hurt her rotator cuff (I know, other end of the body) and while at the physio we mentioned that she was getting back pain, which I thought was strange for someone her age (I think she was about 14 at the time). He got her to stand in front of him with her feet together and said 'look at that' - her knees were pointing at each other! Several hundred dollars later she had orthotics and no more back pain!!

I'm supposed to have an orthotic made to help my right foot. I have a bunion appearing and apparently it is caused by my ankle. The orthotic should straighten it and help prevent the bunion getting worse. When the finances improve I'll go back and get it made.

Vicki, I hope you get something sorted for the kids, but they will cope wherever they sleep! I bet you are excited about them coming - I would be. Since you didn't give son #1 any sympathy I won't either, well, not much anyway... :)
Julie, I had a giggle about your 'nice pantsuit' story. Time have definitely changed - thank goodness! I have one dress and it was given to me - I would have sent it to Vinnies but my mother was visiting and wouldn't let me.
Julie, I have just started using the quilt. At a quilt show recently a lady told me I should. Her family had kept special things like that for many years, then the house burned down and they lost it all. They changed their philosophy after that and she said quilts should look well loved, a little faded and even a little frayed - that's what they're meant for.

Vicki, it's expensive isn't it? But worth it in the long run. The only time Ebob gets back pain now is if she goes too long without her orthotics. I hope you get yours sooner rather than later...

Good evening lovely SA people - sorry that I'm not posting much lately, like Gail, I have some personal issues that need sorting. Nothing too dire - the family and hubby are all OK. Just don't always feel very cheerful. I do read the pages. Just had a smile about Suzy's $3 shopping trip as opposed to Heidi's shopping for birds - whatever floats your boat, girls!
Vicki - hope your son recovers from his injuries quickly.
