Look at that, a new page, nobody would even have remembered my mistake if I hadn't corrected it! Bugger!

Judy, the wonderful story behind the quilt is that my grandmother died while she was making it for me. Her quilting group finished the binding for me after she died...

OK, ladies, when you mentioned the neutral pants, you forgot white for summer and khaki, they go with everything. I do go with those colors, black, grey, navy, a lot, all but brown, never have liked brown much. It's just those pink and yellow capris were such a bargain at $3 each and so cheerful I did not pass them for spring and summer. AND I have white blouses and T's, talk about go with anything hehehe.

Julie, Thank you for sharing a bit about you in today's posts. It was good to hear. You sure are doing a lot of exercise on those knees. Perhaps your therapists are right, you could be pushing to hard too soon. I think it is the repetition that is important, not always increasing the speed or the incline. Just my 2 cents worth.

Other posts need commenting, but it is 4:44 am, and I should go back to bed. I will re read and comment later today.

MizT, you were up early, hope it was a nature call and not pain! White pants! A disaster for me! I am filthy within a few minutes of getting dressed, darker colours hide my sins....

Warning: Budgie anecdote
I walked into the lounge room and saw the birds on the floor. I skited, haha, nothing for you to find down there I vacuumed today. They both immediately flew up and landed on my head! Hubby said it was like static electricity. Grrr

Beautiful quilt, Suzy, with some very special memories I'm sure. Should you really have spent a whole $3 on a costume? Shame, shame!

Julie, nice to hear from you. Perhaps you are overdoing it a bit, but it's always hard to know. We're always told no pain, no gain, but that isn't always the case.

I used to wear orthotics because I had plantar fasciitis (not sure of spelling) in my feet, probably stemming from wearing steel toed boots and/or being on my feet a lot at one warehouse job I used to have. I had to also go for physio. The problem hasn't bothered me since I quit that job.

Heidi, hope you're enjoying your day off without hubby! Sometimes it's nice to be able to do what we want with our time without someone else "hovering".

Hope your time with your relatives is enjoyable, Victoria.

I used to wear orthotics, too. Even though I've had plantar fasciitis, that wasn't the reason for the orthotics. As a child, my mother would ridicule the way I walked. So to stop her , I forced myself to walk with both feet straight ahead. That threw everything out of whack. Several years ago, I talked to an Orthotics expert, and we discussed it. Besides wearing the orthotics, I've let myself go back to walking normally. It really helps.

Good Morning again friends, boy did I go back to bed successfully! I slept in till 10 am, longest sleep I have had in forever. Suzy, a bit of both reasons for being up, I stayed up till the Tylenol was working, all of 30 minuets, after the nature call and middle of the night feeding. IF I am awake around 5 hours after bedtime snack, I am to have a small snack again, for me an 8 oz glass of milk. Keeps the blood sugars steady over night I am told. Most nights I wake very near the 5 hours now, body saying FEED ME.

Heidi, enjoy your day without hubby, what time will he be home, or do you know? How many new chicks did you get?

SUZY, that quilt is wonderful and to know it was the last quilt she made makes it more special. LOTS of applique in that quilt! I love the blue check fabric used in the bows! AND that hatchwork quilting, Is it one inch square? I presume it was all done by hand? Priceless, my dear, you should be so proud of that quilt. What size is it?

Besides getting relief from pain, I am hoping to regain function of that thumb. At the moment, I cannot use it for anything, too weak, too painful. Hubby is tiring of being my extra hand, and I am running out of ways to cope with only one thumb.

Heidi, your house must be so cheerful, all the birds chirping away. How many do you have inside now?

HELLO ROLANDA, will be happy when you can again join us for a chat, grateful you checked in with us. Hope Mom is recovering, and hope you can soon regain your strength. I know having your Mom taxed your energy so soon after your surgery.

Vicki, your scrambling for beds for guests and Heidi's suggestion for using sofas reminds me of a night many years ago when we had 5 unexpected overnight guests. A couple and their 2 young boys came for a visit, my daughter's boyfriend was over, and during the late evening, neighbors house burned. Fire, police and water hoses blocked the street, no one could get out to go home! The boys got sofas in the family room and living room, our girls shared one bedroom and the couple got another, problem solved. I did have to talk to the boyfriend's parents that yes, he was invited to stay and they would be chaperoned hehehe.

Boy still many posts needing comment, I shall come back later, hugs to all, time's a wasting today.

MizT, glad you had a decent sleep. A good sleep can make a day go so much nicer. Hope your thumb problem will soon be a thing of the past. We don't realize how important any one of our fingers is until we don't have the use of it.

Hi all, hope everyone is well!

I've been busy trying to get the house ready for Meghan's graduation party. So many projects/repairs half done. I hope I can get it all done in time. Hopefully, everyone in my family will show up. Even though I go to everyone's stuff, the whole family hasn't been to my house since Ian's Baptism 15 years ago. I hope I don't rent a tent, tables, chairs, etc, for just a dozen people. So much to do, so little time! Ugh! Wish me luck!

Suzy, funny budgies! haha

Julie, I hope your knees progress more easily. Good luck!

Morning all!
Thank you for the wonderful comments on my Nanna's quilt. MizT, it is one inch hatchwork. I'm not sure of its size, but I laid it over a 3 seater lounge/sofa to take the picture. On my queen size bed it hangs over the sides a little. When I first saw it I thought it was machine stitched, it wasn't until I looked closer that I saw the hand stitching and gasped!

Stella, great to see you here. I hope everyone shows up for the party after all of the work you are doing preparing for it. Good luck getting everything done in time!!

Theresa, I've done my time in steel toed boots. I hated the ones they made for women! Men could get nice neutral ones, the ones for women were 'pretty' blues and even pinks. It did improve over time, but not much. I'm glad your problem went away with the boots!!

MizT, love your overnight stay story - very creative use of rooms.

Good morning everyone, hope you all have a great day!
Suzy, the quilt story is beautiful - so glad there was someone to finish it for you. You had me worried for a minute with your mention of gardenias - I thought they were rather tricky things to grow!
Heidi, hope you enjoyed your "free" day. :)
All your footwear stories make me grateful that I never had foot problems as a kid ... first thing I did when I got home from school was to rip my shoes off - I went barefoot as much as possible ... My kids never had that ability - the old pinetree dropped it's needles everywhere and they were VERY painful to walk on!
Another chilly morning here - yesterday I made soup! Hadn't done that for ages - Rob was quite thrilled when he got home from work and I handed him a steaming bowl of chicken and veg. soup - he is always happy when I feed him something "special"! :) Well, he's out for dinner tonight, so I can have anything I can be bothered making ... I always seem to have cravings for chops lately! My comfort food ...sad that they now cost a a ridiculous amount!
Well, enough rambling - catch you next time everyone! :D

Judy, my oldest daughter does not like lamb, she calls it Poor Man's Meat...I told her to go shopping sometime!
I remember when I first moved out of home, hubby and I would buy a side of lamb for less than a dollar a kilo! How much are loin chops these days? Sometimes near the $30/kilo mark!

Well, I did not make it back today to comment on all the posts I left unanswered. Now they are OLD posts, sorry if I did not comment on yours. Please know I read it and thought appropriate thoughts.

STELLA< good to see you hear, Congrats to the graduate, hope the party goes well.

ROLANDA, your Mum must be improving, if she is being an impatient patient. The really sick ones do not have the energy to grumble and complain.

GAIL, nope, that is not poor man's meat! I have never tried lamb chops, and at that price, probably never will. When chops are mentioned, I think pork chops. I have a pork loin roast to cook tomorrow.

Today I went to chiro, been having hip and back pains. He said a lot of the back pain was from MY THUMB, of all things. Using the arm in unusual ways, and the pain radiating up arm to neck caused tension that pulled back out of alignment. O, K, if you say so. It is better tonight, might need one more adjustment to get me straight.

I got a few more flowers and 4 more big pots, I will be retiring the smaller containers on the front porch, going for the big ones. they would fare better if not watered daily. Remind me please to order my water absorbing granules tomorrow, I need to add those to my containers.

Someone asked if my containers needed watering more than flowers in the ground, and yes, they do. Once a day minimum by July, and if I am growing tomatoes in containers, they can need twice a day when they are large and full of fruit, which occurs when our weather is hottest, of course. I do on occasion do poor man's drip system, a 3 liter soda bottle with a tiny hole in bottom, and cap screwed on just tight enough to give water a slow drip. That can keep them happy for a extra day without wasting water.

Time for night time meds and my snack, I am thinking an apple and peanut butter tonight. Care to join me? Night all. catch you tomorrow.

Hubby has just rung. He can't find the plug for the air mattress or the pump. I've sent him to KMart to buy a new air mattress. What else could I do when they will be at our place this afternoon and we don't have time to beg or borrow one from elsewhere.
He's not very happy, of course, and #1 son is still asleep.
You know, I'm quite glad that I am at work!

MizT isn't it amazing what hurts when you hold yourself differently or use different muscles to protect an injured area.

Stella, good luck with the graduation party!

Broni, I'm glad to hear you are busy with your new/old job.

Gail, I don't like lamb chops but I like pork chops even less. I don't really like steak too much either. I do like lamb steaks though. Weird hey! I'm afraid I'm a fairly fussy eater - don't like pumpkin or sweet potato either. I'm sure a lot of it is a throw back to my mother's terrible cooking. You know how it was - fry the meat until it's like shoe leather and boil the veges until they are grey. It's no wonder my father took over the cooking when he retired. At least he was imaginative (and a good cook as well).

Hello, Everyone! I hope you are all having or have had a great day!

Hi, Heidi, Suzy, Victoria, Gail, CynB, Judy, MizTricia, Theresa, June, Stella, Rolanda, Tami the Troublemaker, Broni, and anyone I have missed!

Heidi, I think you must have the chicks by now! I hope they were all healthy! What fun to have a bumper "crop" of finch chicks!

Suzy, it turned out to be a good thing that I had postponed the doctor visit previously scheduled for today. As it turned out, we had other places to be that were much more pressing.

Victoria, I hope you will be able to get your orthotic soon, as they do help! Have fun when the relatives arrive for their visit!

Good for you, Gail! You started your walking regimen! You are allowed to increase incrementally, but NOT by leaps & bounds. Do a little more. When I first started walking outside after my knee replacements, the doctor said to walk to the house next door and back home. Just add one more house each day. (Do what I say, NOT what I did. Don't believe the "No pain-no gain" theory. I was told this by my doctors and the trainers (the people, not some shoes)!

Suzy, I'm proud of you for pushing the hot slidy thing - but NOT TOO MUCH!

CynB, it's always a pleasure to see you here! I hope you are able to sort out things soon!

Gail, I hope things are sorting out for you as well! Do they start working on the car repairs next week?

Oh, Judy, homemade soup! Yummy! Did you make enough to share?

Suzy, I also purposely avoid white slacks/pants and don't much care for brown, MizT. However, thanks for the suggestion of khaki, MizT!

Suzy, I enjoyed the budgie anecdote. Seems like they can be rather entertaining! Also, how nice of your grandmother's quilting friends to finish the binding on your quilt for you! It is absolutely gorgeous!

Theresa, sorry to hear you had plantar fascitis at one time. Were both feet affected? I had it in one and finally had a cortisone shot & foot taped in a specific position for a week. Then it was better. Orthotics were prescribed later after I had tears in my Achilles tendon and had to wear a "boot" for 6 months. Talk about getting your body out of whack - could never find a pair of shoes of the same height sole, so threw off back, knees, feet, etc.

Heidi, as a child I forced myself to walk with my feet straight ahead and have walked that way since. I wonder if that has contributed to my back problems. Hmm, a question to ask my surgeon or the rehab doctor in June.

June, I hope you have fun at bowls and the trading table. I hope you enjoy baking, since you had to bake cakes for the table.

So glad you had a good sleep, MizT. And VERY creative allotting of beds when you had the unexpected guests for sleep-over! BTW, I hope your thumb and back are feeling better!

Stella, I'm glad to see you came for a visit. We miss you! Good luck getting everything done for Meghan's graduation party! Is graduation the first week of

Stella, I'm glad to see you came for a visit. We miss you! Good luck getting everything done for Meghan's graduation party! Is graduation the first week of May? Can you convince your family to RSVP so you have some idea of how many people may attend the party?

Gail and Heidi, I hope you both had a wonderful day with your EMPTY houses! Rolanda, I'm glad you had a quiet day yesterday! Sorry your Mum didn't want to go to her sister's house and just wants to go home! Sometimes, though, that's not what is best. On the other hand, it is sometimes so nice to be alone in the quiet - at least for a while!

Rolanda, good luck to S#1! This is a competition he's going to, isn't it?

Tami, I think the trouble with your computer is serious! It's so nice of Mitchell to share!

Broni, I hope all went well with your work at the previous employer! Will you be going back there again on occasion?

MizT, how many containers of flowers will you have this year? It must be such fun looking out at them!

Amazing - we had lamb chops for the first time celebrating Easter with our neighbor. "Lamb chop" always makes me think of American ventriloquist/entertainer Shari Lewis and her puppet Lamb Chop.
