I'm delighted that I'll have more space to myself here, and spend less time fixing his Flamingo-ups. (A Flamingo-up is like a c0ck-up, only a LOT bigger.) He asked me if I minded for 2 reasons. 1) There is an expense involved... deposit, rent and it's unfurnished. 2) He's delusional enough to think he's indispensable here. He's NOT. He really needs to ask permission of his Lab assistant. She'll have to take up the slack of running his Parasitology business here.

Good morning peoples.
I will raise my glass and have a toast to you tonight Gail.Have a great day.
Sounds like it might be a good idea Heidi. What do you think about IH being away?
Hi there Brenda.
Judy (sister)finishes the last of 6 chemo treatments today, then off for a PET scan in a few weeks to Brisbane to see how it went.It should be OK as they have good success rates with the type of cancer she has.
The usual dinner tonight at brother & SIL's,which is my relaxation time. She does the cooking and we contribute either money or ingredients sometimes.
As someone mentioned."It is nicer when another does the cooking"

Morning all!
Happy Birthday Gail! I hope you have a spectacularly wonderful day!

Nola, I have been wondering how Judy is going. I'm glad she's finished the chemo. Everything crossed that this is the end of the nasty treatments...

Heidi, I'm curious as to what the production business does...

Not production, Suzy. Processing. As in lamb and goat meat processing... i.e. slaughterhouse. He's one of 4 owners, but one lives in Texas, one has a severe case of Parkinson's and the other is sick of the plant and wants to sell his share. So IH has all the responsibility. When he first mentioned to me that he wanted to invest in this plant, I fought him tooth and nail. I told him NO WAY, in no uncertain terms. He ignored me. He put a LOT of money in it. After 3 years it still isn't making money, so it's a money pit. And his Parasitology business gets neglected.

Heidi, hopefully if he puts some time into the plant it will start making money. Or at least stop losing it.

Did you work out that referencing thing?

He's been putting in a lot of time there, but he's been driving back and forth there several times a week. Staying there will let him actually get something done except driving.

Suzy, I still find it difficult.I find it hard to in-text ref then the full reference at the end for a web page. The links can be so long that I am sure there must be a better way.

Nola, it's so hard to read a document with all of the in-text referencing too! I want the olden days when you just put a superscript number there with the reference at the bottom of the page. I wonder if I have one of my old assignment lying around that I could send you so you can compare them? I'll have a look today.

Heidi, sorry you are so upset with IH wanting to get an apartment (I hope you can read sarcasm)
Suzy, I checked out that page you mention. It is not all correct. It has my brother as the owner of my parents house. Some of my info is wrong also, but it is close.
Don't remember what else I have read. It is almost my bedtime and I don't want to fall asleep with my son's laptop on my lap.
Good vibes to all who need them. I read daily and even if I don't comment, I am thinking about my friends daily.

Hello, Everybody!

Hi, Gail, Heidi, CynB, Victoria, June, Rolanda, Suzy, Theresa,

Gail, I totally understand sensitivity about an eating disorder. One summer while acting as a "housemother" to younger music students at a program where our D was also a student, another of the "housemothers" kept questioning me, thinking our daughter had the same issues one of her daughters had dealt with. I appreciated her concern, but after numerous explanations I felt like throwing up my hands in despair. So glad Beth is feeling better now!

Heidi, I'm so glad you and the birds arrived home safely and settled in for a (hopefully) good night's sleep!

CynB, I hope your daughter gets her digestive issues straightened out. Excellent that she is studying to be a nutritionist!!

I agree with Theresa - all the talk of yummy dinners. BTW, we had "linner" out today. CRAZY/busy morning followed by acupuncture at noon, so no lunch, followed by more calls to be made after appt. around 2:30. Hubby says, how about "linner" at Olive Garden (about a block from our appt.) So, about 3:30 we have a relaxing meal to replace 2 meals.

June, still enjoying the picture in my mind of Laura eating her lobster. SO glad the dog was found safely!

Suzy, I enjoyed the thought of the 97-year-old getting up and dancing! What an experience for Ally! If your count-down was for Ebob coming home, the two weeks have gone quickly! Hope she loved it!

Hi, Brenda, Nola, MizTricia, Broni & Tami (visitors on this page that I didn't greet in my previous post)! I apologize to anyone I've missed!

Heidi, I hope the apartment near the processing plant works out OK for both of you!

Happy Birthday, Gail! Hope it's a special one!

Brenda, thanks for popping in to remind us of Gail's birthday!

Nola, it's nice to see you again today! I'm sure your sister is glad to have finished the round of chemotherapy. Here's hoping her PET scan in a few weeks confirms success! I like the idea of the weekly shared meal with your brother & SIL!

Heidi, I hope your chickens arrive safely. Good luck to IH finding a reasonably priced apartment. You're right - if he's driving back & forth a couple of times a week, he's spending more time on the road than at the processing plant. I hope it will become somewhat successful and his parasitology business doesn't falter.

Nola, good luck with the referencing. Luckily for me, it has been many years since I have had to write papers with references. I hope the site Tami mentioned is helpful. I figured there must be something you can find on the internet to help!

We have an early get-up tomorrow & busy day, then quite busy Friday through the weekend. I expect that may continue through Tuesday, then Wednesday & Thursday for a quick trip out of state. I'll get here when I can! Love to all! Good Night!

Bedtime here. I did read, and wrote a long reply, but it disappeared somewhere. No time to reread and recreate it fore the sandman gets me.

Speaking of sand, my eyes have felt like they were full of sand, we have extremely high pollen counts now, and eyes feel as if they were full of sand. Rain expected for the weekend, that should wash some of the pollen away. there is so much that you need to wash your windshield fore driving, covered in yellow. Comes a rain, there will be a yellow film floating on the rain runoff, that is a lot of pollen.

I cannnot contact the young man who usually helps me with outside chores. He has moved out of his parents house, and is not answering his cell phone. One of the other boys might be available, but this particular one is the most reliable, and does a good job, does not have to be supervised every moment like the others of his cousins and step brothers do. He is one of the few young men I have met lately that has the work ethic that my generation grew up with.

I found a few more flowers today, hope I got all I need. There has not been a good selection this year, and some things are extremely pricey. Some of the plants were rushed, the coleus I got had hardly any roots, but if I keep them wet they will root nicely on their own.

Reminds me of another story. Many years ago, I was in Wal Mart waiting for my sister to conclude a meeting nearby before we could go to lunch. I was wandering around the plants, and saw a worker trimming back over grown hanging baskets of coleus. She threw the trimmings into the trash. I approached her and asked if I might have them. She said "sure" and put them in a bag for me, a bag full, told me if there was any problem at check out have them to page Sue in the plant department. When I told them that, No problem they let me have them. there were a LOT of cuttings, about 8 inches long. I took them home, trimmed back bottom leaves, put them in a half gallon pitcher of water and set them on Kitchen counter. In a couple of weeks, every one of them had rooted. I planted up lots of containers for my deck, and planted containers to give friends and family, and put more of them into the ground, I had lovely dark coleus everywhere that year. Mine grew as large as the one in the store, spreading to about 3 feet tall and 3 feet across. I kept 2 of the containers over winter in a friends office window, took cuttings in spring and had the garden full of coleus again for several years! Moral of the story, it never hurts to ask, no one could believe that I was given so many cuttings hehehe.

Between IH and myself, postal employees know us well. They enjoy my birds and fish, which they frequently get a peek at. IH's packages are notorious. Being a Parasitologist, he gets shipped fecal material in large amounts, from all over the country. Sometimes they are damaged in transit. In hot weather they can get very pungent. Frequently, the boxes won't be allowed inside the Post Office. I learned about being able to pick up packages at odd hours from having to pick up leaky boxes at night and on Sundays. Once, a huge box arrived in pieces in Louisville, with no shipping label and no indication of sender or destination. Inside were about 200 baggies filled with cow poop. They sent them to us. It turned out to be the correct destination. IH tested all the samples and waited for the sender to contact him, wondering where his results were.

The chickens are here. These are the last birds I'll be picking up for a while. I have one box of chicks yet to come, but those are shipped overnight with no tracking numbers sent to me, so I just pick them up at my local Post Office when they arrive at 6:30 am. They're not due to be shipped for a few weeks, I believe.

Good afternoon all.
MizT - great story about the coleus cuttings and all the plants you got from them. You're right, it never hurts to ask.
Heidi - loved the details about what Gil gets in the mail. I worked for years in the (animal)fats and oil industry and we would frequently get leaky tins of tallow through the mail. And the low-grade of that stuff could be pungent to say the least. Both you and Gil lead interesting lives!!
Gail - hope you've been having a great day.
Julie - hubby and I have 'linner' (never heard it called that before - hehehe) often. We always find that if we have lunch too late we are just not hungry enough for dinner and will often only have a toasted sandwich or something equally light at night.

Evening all!
You won't believe it, but I flung things around the k room tonight. I had to pick hubby off the floor he was in such shock. No, not really. I even made enough for 3 nights! Don't do things by halves...

Rolanda, I echo Heidi's WOW. This is definitely one of those cases where 'just getting there' is amazing! To win would be incredible.

MizT, what a bummer about the boy who usually helps you outside. Maybe he'll get back to you.

Julie, I hope you love to travel because you seem to be going somewhere all of the time! See you when you can get here!!
