.
It's a dark, gloomy day outside, but still exciting. I leave to pick up the 2 new collies in 3 hours.
Both are supposed to be very sweet and friendly.

Heidi, it was totally my fault, I was talking about weather, went to the site to convert F to C, forgot to open it in a new window bye bye post.
Have a safe trip to pick up the new collies. Looking forward to hearing about them.
We are out for the morning, catch you again soon.

I forgot that I have to go to the store and get some dog food, so I'm taking off in a few minutes.
From there, I'll head off to the meeting place to get the new girls.

Wow... this place is a vast wasteland. I'm gone for a few hours, and nobody's been here.
I've got the 2 new girls. Their names are Lucy and Molly. They ARE sweet.

We're now talking about getting another rescue. This is a 7 year old male who's drastically overweight and acts like he's 12. He was being boarded and his owner never returned to claim him.

Good afternoon everyone.
How exciting Heidi, two sweet new girls and G. finches hatching. Hopefully you can acquire the 7 year old overweight male and get him on the right track. Animals are so easy to love ... just can't understand how they can be abandoned.
It's only about 10C here and raining. Brrrrr. Much as I dread it, I have to get some ffuts done. Hopefully I'll keep popping in.

Good Afternoon, Everyone! I'm taking some time to read posts since my last night.
Hi, Gail, June, V Viv, CynB, Tricia, Heidi, and Theresa!
June, I hope your MIL enjoyed everyone coming back to the house to sing
and enjoy some
! I'm amazed at Laura eating Lobster Mornay and Oysters Kirkpatrick! Luckily, our grandies haven't discovered such meals and are happy with Mac & Cheese or hot dogs or toasted cheese sandwich, though they will eat hummus and enjoy dipping fresh vegetables in it.
Viv, KFC was my MIL's favorite. I think she always tried to make her doctor appointments near lunch at her assisted living so hubby could take her to KFC either before or after her appt. She always tried to have more than she planned to eat so she could take some back home with her. Congrats to Ethan!
CynB, does Madeline avoid tomatoes in any form? Heidi asked about pizza. What about spaghetti with "marinara" sauce?
MizT, I'm so sorry you lost your amusing and informative post! Don't you hate when that happens? Well, we'll just try to imagine what you were going to say - a good exercise for our neurons and synapses today!
Heidi,
to the new "girls," Lucy and Molly! If you get the 7-year-old who was abandoned at the location where he was being boarded, I hope being around the others will help him! How awful that must have been! Have they not been able to find his owners?
Theresa, I hope you're able to get lots of ffuts done! I'm off to do the same, but hope to get back later, as well!

Hi all, just got back in from having Sunday Dinner out at Prezzo's (Italian restaurant) Richard and I realised we had been abandoned by all the kids so decided to eat out. I had vouchers giving us a starter, main course and a drink for £10. It was off a limited menu but was still yummy and I didn't have to cook!

Good Morning everyone.
Not too much planned for today.
Up nice and early and as usual have some gnihsaw
in the machine. Have an appt. for a hair trim at 10am and then will go for coffee and crosswords with John.
Gf wants me to go with her to the school this afternoon but I will not have a car this arvo so she will have to come and collect me.
12.6c at the moment here.
Going for 19c and showers forecast. We have had enough rain for now.
Not having to cook is like winning Lotto for me. Good on you Brenda.
Enjoy your day Gail.
Welcome Molly and Lucy. You will be well looked after.
Hi MizT. Hope the hand is recovering well.
Must go and eat some brekky.

Good morning all.
Yes - Madeline will eat tomato in sauce form - she tells herself it's not tomato just red sauce!
Heidi - welcome to Lucy and Molly - I'm sure they'll be happy with you.
Brenda - pleased you had a lovely meal out. I was so excited yesterday when our Sunday paper had a shot of Harry Potter and Hermione taken whilst filming 'near Stevenage'. is there much talk about it there or are you all just blase about these things? It's exciting for us because we seldom have anything like that going on in our vicinity - with the exception of the Narnia film last year.

I didn't even know about the filming until after it happened. It was a few miles north of Stevenage near a small town called Baldock. Rupert Grint lives/lived in Stevenage.

Hi all. Just stopping in for a minute. Read the posts earlier, started to reply and lost what I had typed. Got annoyed at myself and walked away from pooter. Back now but forgot what I have read. Helping Mitchell with a last minute project. He has to make up his own country including maps, economy, flag etc. He is basically writing an entire encyclopedia entry on his made up country. I had my dad convinced that "mitosia" was a real country in Europe that came out of the former USSR. Talk to you later or tomorrow.

Just found out that my FIL will be inducted into their local sports hall of fame. In his younger days (he will be 87 this year) he played lacrosse and hockey. The induction will be in September and we will be going ... don't think FIL will make it however because he's not very mobile.

Below is something that Andy Rooney (American TV) said on one show:
"As I grow in age, I value women over 50 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:
A woman over 50 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, 'What are you thinking?' She doesn't care what you think.
If a woman over 50 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it's usually more interesting.
Women over 50 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.
Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated.
Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 50.
Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 50 is far s*xier than her younger counterpart.
Older women are forthright and honest.. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk or if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.
Yes, we praise women over 50 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 50, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize.
For all those men who say, 'Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?' Here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!"
What a smart man!!!

They were introduced immediately, with no problems. They act like they've been here all their lives. Molly figured out the dog door already. I figure that Lucy will figure it out in the next day or 2. She's not as outgoing as her sister.

Hi, Heidi, Gail, Brenda, Viv, Cyn, Tami and Theresa!
Heidi, isn't there some way to track the former owner of the collie? Do they just assume the worst - a coward's way of relinquishing an animal that is either no longer wanted or the owner unable to afford or care for it?
Gail, I hope your busy day has at least been enjoyable!
Brenda, GREAT idea to have dinner out! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Viv, you said you didn't have much planned for today, but it sounded pretty busy with gnihsaw, a hair trim, crosswords with John, and going with gf to do the kiddo pick-up at school. I hope it was a drier day today!
Cyn and Brenda, hubby called me to the TV this evening - a program about the new Harry Potter exhibit & rides at Universal Studios. He asked if I though I'd like to go. (Are you kidding? I asked if he would. He's much less of a fan and yet is interested. He's actually doing some on-line checking into it right now. I imagine it would be great fun to be near the filming!
Tami, so sorry you lost a post today. (MizT lost one yesterday.) I'm trying to remember to save as I type these days. Mitchell's inventing a country, map, flag, encyclopedia entry, etc. brought back memories. One of our D's had a similar assignment when in school. I still remember the name of the island she invented.
Heidi, so sorry you didn't get your nap. The good news is that the sunroom will be started this week!
Theresa, that's very exciting that your FIL will be inducted into the local sports hall of fame. That's quite an honor! Isn't it a shame that it's happening so late in life when he can't attend and enjoy? Hubby's dad was inducted to a high school hall of fame where he coached them to a state championship - just last year, so 30+ years after he died. Some people was surprised that we didn't take his mom with us (about 6 or 7 hours by car and she was 94). BTW, i enjoyed the excerpts from Andy Rooney's commentary!
Heidi, what a treat that Molly and Lucy seem to fit right in with the other collies!

Hi everyone!
Heidi, welcome to the new girls Molly and Lucy. I'm sorry to hear about Jackie. At least she isn't suffering any more. RIP
Brenda, I saw the same picture of Harry and Hermoine that CynB did and noted that it said they were near Stevenage.
Cyn, my James is like Madeline. He won't eat tomato either but loves pizza, spag bol, lasagna etc.
Gail, great news that your car is back. Happy travelling!
Tami, lucky you. Only 3 more days until holidays. Yippee!
I was chatting to my niece over the weekend arranging accommodation at Hervey Bay for her 21st birthday on the 25th. It's now all organised so of course I received an email this morning. A friend of mine is coming home from Ireland for a few weeks and her sister is organising a get together on the same weekend.
I hope I can catch up with her before she goes back.

I had a bit of a reality check on the weekend. We keep telling the boys that the countdown is on. Mid 2011 is the time when James finishes his apprenticeship and Shaun finishes Uni. After that it's just Kevin, the dog and me. If the dog doesn't behave then he can go too!!
Shaun told me that he is thinking of moving out with his girlfriend and another mate in November. Of course he needs a job first so that he can pay his way.
Even though I know he will eventually leave, I felt really sad that my boy wouldn't be around all the time. Silly Mum! I'm not an apron strings type of mother but I know I'll miss them (at least until I have my first grocery shop and realise how much I'll be saving).

Tami, it must be contagious, I lost yet another post today. Hope yours and mine are keeping each other company, wherever lost posts go. I got up and left the computer also hehehe.
I gave a nice garden report, remember that. New wave petunias are slow to take off, got a shot of fertilizer. Some of the tomatoes are developing blossom end rot, too much rain, not a lot I can do about that. Crepe Myrtles are bending the limbs they are so heave with blooms. Grass needs cutting, wonder if hubby is waiting on me to do it??
We saw "Just Wright" for our movie, enjoyed that very much.
just had bedtime snack, and meds. Now to do a few puzzles to get sleepy. let me send this fore I loose it. Hugs to all. I am out of here early tomorrow, therapy with Ashley.

Vicki, your boys are growing and getting ready to spread their wings. Just sit back and smile proudly when they go, as it's proof that you've done your job well! At least Shaun gave you a hint of what's to come, so you'll have time to become adjusted to the idea! Your reaction wasn't silly at all - just logical when you've had a good relationship with your children!
MizT, sorry you lost another post; we don't want you to need to type every post twice. Thanks for the garden report - mostly good news except for the tomato blossom end rot. Here's hoping for a bit drier weather for you and the tomatoes! I hope you have a good night's sleep and wake up pain-free!
I'm having a hard time keeping the eyes propped open, so I will say, "Good Night, Everyone! See you tomorrow!"

Even though we have talked about them leaving home this is the first real indication that they are considering it too.
