Vicki - I remember being quite upset when Andrew left home to live with his mates at about 20, even though he was only a few blocks away. I got used to it. But, madam Karin, stayed with us until she was 24 and got married - board was much cheaper. By that time she was trying to take us over - 2 women in one household does not work! So that on her wedding day, someone come up to me and said 'Col's really upset' - I went and found him and he said - 'she's leaving us'. I had been punching the air in delight but he was distraught for a while. I even told her hubby - no returns.
Much as we love them, we have really enjoyed the freedom of it just being the two of us at home.

R.I.P.

Adriana Xenides, the long-running hostess of Wheel of Fortune alongside John Burgess, has died at the age of 54.

Xenides first appeared on Wheel of Fortune at the age of 22. She was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest running game show host, having appeared as assistant host on Wheel of Fortune for 18 years.

She was admitted to Liverpool Hospital two days ago with a stomach complaint. Her former co-host John Burgess visited her yesterday.

Adriana died late this afternoon after suffering a ruptured intestine.

She suffered depression and a digestive disorder during her life, but friends say Adriana will always be remembered for the glamour she brought to the small screen.

I had no problems when our daughter moved out. The teenage years were rough, so it was kind of a relief. At times I felt a bit sad when I would walk past her bedroom, but it was nice not to be arguing 24/7 (or at least that's what it seemed like). We are now best of friends.

Vicki, hugs to you as your iffspring leave the nest. It is change, and tgough expected, hard to handle, so I can understand. myself, I was more like Gail. I had raised them to best of my ability, and was ready for the next stage if my life.

Julie, so right, I do not need to type my posts twice.

Rolanda, hope the long weekend trip was fun, with no bad surprises.

Viv, was Adriana on the Aussie Wheel of Fortune? So young, RIP.

Suzy, glad you are alive and kicking. How is Mom's visit going?

Time to eat and make myself presentable, then off to therapy I go. It is about a 45 min drive, do wish it were closer.

Theresa - Karin and I are best friends now too, after me being the enemy for years. It only took her to have a child to realise what a mother goes through.

I have successfully changed all three light bulbs... with help. My knee was hurting, and I couldn't step up onto the chair. The woman who helps me with house cleaning once a week helped me up onto the chair. Now that I've got that job done, I might as well take a nap.
TOMORROW MORNING THEY START ON MY SUN ROOM!!!!!!

Nice feeling Suzy..empty house!
Just made some cakes for the trading table today, although one will have to be taken down straight out of the oven!(also made lemon butter last night)
We are having a 'pink day' today at the bowling club to raise money for breast cancer. We have quite a few ladies at the club who are survivors.

My son has to come to Sydney today for work so he will be here for dinner which which will be great.

Suzy...Have you got a lovely organized house now?
Heidi..new barn, finches, collies and about to start on new sunroom.Terrific.

Heidi, congrats on meeting your goal for today. will you be taking photos of the sun room as it goes up? would love to see if you do. How large will your sun room be??

Suzy, hope you enjoyed your nap.

June, what are you making for dinner with your son?

I have homework, exercises for hand and wrist. something I am doing is leaving me hurting. wish I could figure which one or ones, but probably the ones that are most difficult to do.

time to fling food. Hubby promised to help, but he has taken my misbehaving car to a friend's house, see if friend has any ideas. Intermittent problem, the hardest kind to diagnose.

later, hugs to all and extras for those who need them.

MizT... remember that this is a small house with tiny rooms. In comparison, the sun room will be huge. It'll be about 16" x 20". That's bigger than my kitchen and study together.

Morning.
Kids moving out.. Can't wait for the next one to move out!
When #1 son moved out, he was barely home, so was getting used to him not being there. I do miss him, and I don't see nearly enough of him, but he is almost 24 and has his own life to lead and follow, and he is happy. Do I want him home again ? NO!!!!!

I still have the keys to my parents house even though they have threatened to change the locks. My mom has also threatened to take away my kids and return them at 18. I told her she can have the boys and if she keeps them til 18, SHE gets to put them through college, I won't take them back She hasn't attempted to keep them yet, she just borrows them for a day or two.

I have read the posts but don't remember what I have read. I have 1.5 days left of school and I am starting to come down with something. I am going to tuck myself in and try to get a good night sleep so maybe I won't get whatever it is too bad.

I know Heidi. I seem to be developing a cough. If it doesn't get better, I will get checked later in week. Unless my mom reads this and starts nagging me to go to doctor sooner, you know how Jewish mothers are

Hubby came home an hour and a half late for dinner. BUT he says my car is now repaired. Two heads being better than one or some such. hope it is really true about car.

I get to stay home tomorrow, boy those days getting rare for a couple of weeks.

Heidi, that is a nice sized sun room. I think you and the birds will enjoy it. And, you can bring in your flowers in containers, see if they will overwinter. will the collies be allowed out there? I can just see all the nose prints on the glass.

bed time here, I did not get a nap today. I am ready for an early evening.

Mizt, I had a nice piece of pork in the freezer so will bake that with vegetables and apple crumble to follow. Sharon Steve and Laura will be here as well. A bit far for Belinda to come mid week.
All my cooking was sold but I played an awful game of bowls. My head felt as though it was in a "fug".
And thanks for all the support.

Hi, Heidi, Vicki, CynB, Rolanda, Viv, Suzy, Broni, Gail, Theresa, MizT, June, Nola, and Tami - and anyone who snuck in without my seeing.

Interesting discussions today about when our offspring leave home! On the first day of school the year our older one started college, teachers at my school were introducing themselves and telling something about their summer. One teacher was coming back from maternity leave and got all teary about having to leave her baby. I got teary because hubby was driving our first baby to another state for her first year of college. Two years later she transferred to another college even further away and our next baby started college in a state on the opposite coast. Luckily, their college years prepared us, as they were only home for parts of summers. When they graduated, their jobs were in other states from where they went to college and still opposite directions away from home. One of the keys to adjusting is staying busy.

Rolanda, I'm confused. I don't know if you're just back from the long weekend - hence the sloshy thing, or looking forward to the long weekend, so sloshing in preparation. At any rate, have a great day!

Viv, the cohost of Wheel of Fortune was young. I don't think I've ever heard of someone having a ruptured intestine. Sounds quite unpleasant! RIP Adriana!

So good to see Suzy, Broni and Gail pop in!

MizT, I hope your physical therapy went well today! It's a shame it's so far away from you. By the time you drive there, have therapy and drive home, you've spent well over 2 hours away from home. Don't try to make up for lost time. What most needs to be done will get done. Anything left over at the end of the day can wait until tomorrow!

Heidi, I like your goal for the day. But I think you need to buy yourself a step ladder! Climbing onto a chair to reach something overhead is not safe (says she who first injured one knee getting down from a chair she stood on to reach something).

Suzy, your Mum's visit seems relatively short (in my mind - quite probably not yours). I hope it went well! (We tend to stay anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks when visiting grandies - depending on what we are helping with. I must give my D LOTS of credit for putting up with us that long. I am quite sure I wouldn't have been able to stand having my Mom with us that long. {We try to be sure to help with whatever is going on while there, and she knows she doesn't need to entertain us.) I hope your Mum's visit was pleasant for all involved!

June, I hope the "pink day" at the club went well today and the cakes on the trading table brought in a good bit of money! What have you planned for dinner with your son? Thank you for the update on your friend! Still keeping everything crossed and sending prayers and positive vibes!

Nola, I don't know how you do it - keeping up with the comments here and popping in for an update, plus your coursework and work and home and family! How is your paper coming along?

June, I'm sorry bowls didn't go well today, but have experienced that feeling myself some days. I hope you'll feel better at home, preparing dinner (sounds yummy) and sharing dinner with most of your family!

Nearly 10 minutes past midnight here. Heidi, I hope you get a good night's sleep. I'll be heading to bed soon, as well!

Enjoy the rest of your day/night, Everyone!
