I'm trying to do my count MizT, did you find out yours? 2 scrape and burns and 4 cut and stitches I think I've had. 5 BCCs and 1 SCC. Not as many as you!!!

Suzy, we posted at the same time. In my province, Ontario, we have to have cars checked every two years I believe to receive a clean air certificate. Cars have to be thoroughly checked over by a mechanic qualified for the certificates. If your car passes you get a sticker to put on the windshield. I think it's called the Drive Clean program or something like that.

MizT, before garages had hoists to raise cars they used to be placed over pits in the ground so the mechanics could get under to work. That must be where the expression comes from, over the pits.

I have had a few of those BCC, SCC and the big M (6)..all of them cut and stitch, the first big M 1981 and the last 5 years ago. I have regular checkups at the Dermatologist.

Hi Theresa, our checks are more for safety than 'clean', which I think is a bit sad. I don't think there are any checks on emissions unless your car is obviously spewing out black smoke.

You're probably right about the origin of the expression - I hadn't thought of that but it makes perfect sense. The things we take for granted...

Rolanda, I was thinking about your big M's when I was doing my count. I have been very lucky. 5 years is a long time, maybe you've had your last???? I hope so.

Howdy, Neighbors! Well, we're neighbors in Sudokuland, aren't we? I hope all is well with everyone!

Hello, Heidi, CynB, Suzy, Theresa, Brenda, Nola, MizTricia, Judy, Tami the T, Rolanda, and anyone else visiting here!

Heidi, the book that shares your name was one of my favorites as I grew up! (I see it was also one of Theresa's favorites.) It may be why I feel like I have such an affinity for Switzerland and have always wanted to visit. (Unfortunately, if I ever get there, I don't think I'll be doing any mountain climbing with Heidi and her goats!) I hope you will soon be feeling better, though I quite understand being accepting of anything which helps weight loss)!

CynB, I like the sound of your "beautiful fine day!"

Gail, I hope you and Hannah are soon feeling better and don't share anything with your hubby!

Theresa, you're most welcome for the avatars I sent to you! It will be fun to see them, as I had quite forgotten them! I really like your green T, as it's quite striking and stands out on the page! I'm so glad you have had an opportunity to lollygag outside - a benefit of being between jobs! While I hope you find a new one soon, I'm so glad you are able to do some relaxing and enjoying with your grandies and D and SIL!

Brenda and Richard, Happy Anniversary! I hope you have had a wonderful day! Wishing you many more happy years together! Congratulations to both of you!

Nola, I'm so sorry to hear how poorly yesterday's session went! I certainly hope the moderator's computer is no longer acting up and you had a much more productive day! Sending positive vibes for you and your family! I hope all is well!

MizT, so glad to hear that today's small "scrape and burn" was done so quickly (and hopefully painlessly)! How nice to come home to the surprise of your neighbor mowing your lawn!

Judy, I hope you are enjoying your empty house! The sci fi con sounds interesting! I hope your D's and 1 hubby and friends are enjoying themselves!

Suzy, you must have been tired to sleep through 85 kph winds! I hope they have subsided, since you mentioned having a rainy day! Winds that strong would send the rain almost horizontally, I'd think!

Hooray, Rolanda is celebrating spring-like weather! I hope it was nice for Oom Piet's birthday! I hope S#1 can enjoy some of the time he is in Melbourne for work!

Suzy, what an unusual name for a car! I'm sure you're relieved that someone bought and will take care of her and that she isn't headed for the scrap bin just yet!

Theresa, I hope the most severe storms passed to the north or south of you and you only had to deal with a light rain! So sorry the mugginess has returned!

With the discussion of BCCs, SCCs and Ms, I'm thinking I am over-due for a check. Hubby and I were planning to call this week for an appointment, but received a letter from the affiliated hospital notifying us that the doctor is leaving. We will need to find someone new. Keeping fingers crosse

And now, chapter 2 of the post:

Keeping fingers crossed for no more Ms, Rolanda!

Coming up on 11:00 now, and with too many late nights and early mornings lately, I think I should consider going to bed soon!

Thinking of all of you and sending positive vibes and good thoughts! Wishing good health or improved health to all those who could use some!

Heidi, I think she may be referring to melanoma? I hope you have a good night's sleep after the dogs have eaten - no more storms tonight!

Good Night, Everyone!

Afternoon all!
Good news Rolanda! Is he meeting up with any sudoku types over there or will it be a quick visit?

Julie, you were right about the big M. The scary M. We fair skinned people are all too familiar with the types of skin cancer! Though a dermatologist once told me that darker skinned people get more big Ms because they don't burn and so think they are safe.

Hello, back again! :D

Heidi, I was wrong (hey, it happens! ok, frequently!) - the sci-fi convention is in Indianapolis. Cathie is also going to New York, Washington, Orlando and Los Angeles ... quite a lot of travelling! She'll be in the USA for 4 weeks - Rachel and Wayne will only be there for 1 week. :)

Hope everyone is having a nice day. Now I must cook my "dinner for one"! Mmm, Q. what will I have? A. Whatever I like!! :D

lol Cyn, I'll watch TV when I get my lounge room back. The younguns seem to have finished rehearsing. BTW, how do you tell 2 know everythings that 3 weeks with 3 rehearsals is probably not enough to do a good job on Hallelujah, particularly when you are learning 4 other songs together too?????

Good morning. We didn't get a storm, but it is currently raining. The forecast calls for rain right through to Thursday, with a risk of T storms every day. We really need the rain, so I'm not complaining (yet).

Thanks Cyn, red, red wine ... now I've got that song stuck in my head.

I'm just waiting for my daughter to call so I can start the morning chores there. The grandies don't usually wake up until 8:00 or later, so I have time to squeeze in another coffee. Catch you all later.

Judy... Indianapolis is only 3 hours from me. If they find themselves with a free day, I'd love to meet them.

Horrid night. The facial infection was the least of the problems. I'm having a Gout attack. My right foot is killing me. I can only walk with a cane and I don't think I'll be able to get a shoe on, not even a Croc! I don't know if I'll even be able to drive to the dentist's today. I may have to try to schedule for tomorrow.

I just talked to the dentist's office. They are closed on vacation for over a week. I grabbed the earliest possible appointment in 9 days. No, I won't go to another dentist. I've tried others around here and they leave a LOT to be desired.

SUZY, here we do not have auto inspections. Going over the pits is an expression I had never heard. My father once worked in the pits, he was a mechanic for large road maintenance equipment for the county. NO lifts to pick up road graders and such.

OH NO, Heidi, hate you are having to wait for 9 days. Did they at least start you on antibiotics to help clear the infection?? Or was there noone to talk to? Nine days is a long time to wait, I am sorry you must.

Did anyone answer Heidi's " what is the big M?" Melanoma, the worse of the 3 kinds of skin cancer.

Suzy, it was number 10. but he toldme of a man who actually had over 200, would have them removed 10 at a time. way doc told this, the man had bought a cancer insurance policy when younger, that would not only pay for his doctors, hospital or other medical treatment for any cancer, it also gave him cash for whatever expenses he might have out of pocket. Said man would make appointment, tell doc, well I am a bit short on this months rent, less take off another 10.

ROFL, scooter just fell off the computer tower , yet again. Poor kitty!

I forgot half and half at the grocery, my second cup of morning coffee is not up to my spoiled standards!

Time to get some breakfast, catch you all later. hugs.

Hi Tricia. I am here but about to go back to bed. Cat is fed and I have done the puzzles. I have to sort out my 'old' clothes today to exhibit in a school that is having 150 anniversary. I will lend them clothes from 1880 to 1955. It will also include some old underwear. It should be an interesting display.

MizT, I tried to check out the video and it says it's unavailable in my region. Huh? Anyhoo, I did check out further videos of Derek that didn't have to do with the 60 Minutes show. What an amazingly gifted person he is!

Heidi, sorry it's going to take so long for the dentist. My thoughts are with you.

June, that should be an interesting display. Do you have a private collection of old clothes? If so, you must be in demand for theatre groups in your area.

It has stormed on and off all day today. Right now the rain has stopped and it looks like the sun might be trying to come out.

Well, I'm off to start supper. TTFN.

Hi Gail, I saw on the other (demon) site that you are feeling better. Did your hubby manage to avoid it?

We are under a severe thunderstorm watch again with the potential for large hail and winds gusting to 90 km/h. So if I don't get back here tonight, you'll know why. Off to my daughter's to do the evening chores shortly.

Greetings friends. We had pop up T storms near again, and gave us a sprinkle plus some cooler temps. I went out to water flowers on back and thought it rather pleasant. Checked the temp at nearby airport, which was 85, with a feels like of 95. When 95 feels pleasant, you know it has been really hot!!

Sorry you could not access the 60 minutes clip, Theresa. Perhaps you will get the broadcast there at a later date? Or do you get much of USA TV?? How close are you to the US Canadian border?

Suzy, I did not catch the bad gramer till you mentioned it and I reread it, twice hehehe. We know what you meant, that is what counts.

Heidi has been much to quite today, hope she is getting some needed rest.

Our "heat advisory" of last week has been changed to a "heat warning". Heat indexes of 110 are expected into the evening in many areas, anywhere that did not get a late afternoon shower. There has been one heat death. A nineteen month old child was found in an auto, dead of heat exhaustion. Family says she was playing outside and got into car. Why was a child playing outside in this heat? Why was no one minding a toddler? and how did she manage to get into that car? I had to help my toddlers into a car till much past 19 months.

MizT, they lied. It's the only explanation. And even if they told the truth they were negligent for all the reasons you mentioned. Makes my blood boil! So sad and unnecessary.

I'm glad it's cool enough to spend some time outside. A warning sounds worse than an advisory... I hope things cool down soon.

Gail! She emerges! Well, briefly anyway. Lets hope she comes back to let us know how everyone faired...

Theresa, your nickname is Turkey???? Over here if you call someone a turkey you're calling them a bit of a fool. Now I know you're not a fool so I'm wondering where the nickname came from...

MizT... I hope charges are filed against the family that allowed the toddler to go out in the heat unsupervised. I am really suspicious of the circumstances, tho. How did a child that young open the car door, climb into the car and shut the car door by itself?

So far, so good Theresa, hubby seems not to have caught it. Bless him, the darling, he slept the last two nights out on the couch to avoid it. The first night was just as well because I tossed and turned all night with the fever. I was ok last night, but hadn't been able to change the sheets, and hubby offered to delay his treatment so he could go to the airport to pick up Beth. I was going to do it originally but it was physically impossible. The plane was due in at 11.30 pm, and was delayed by an hour, so my poor hubby didn't get home till 2.30 this morning :(. Type quietly, ok, he's still napping.
