Ooops, I didn't think it was long enough to be cut off. Above comment continued:
I like some of the early rock & roll and rhythm & blues, but also like "folk" music, our kids liked some of the "Oldies" we listened to when they were younger, then I got into some of the stuff Ds listened to in the mid-1990s, like blues and jazz - and of course classical music after going to many lessons with Ds as they were learning. It's hard to describe.
Rolanda, thinking of you and your Mum! Hope her check-up goes well! Happy Birthday to Robert!
Sending positive vibes and healing thoughts to everyone!

Heidi, that is a mighty unusual list of musical likes for IH. I thought I was weird.

Good afternoon and Hi to all - I have been swept back in time by all the talk of the different eras of music. I was old enough to go to Woodstock but air travel from Oz to the US was not as cheap in those days (haha!) - to be honest, I didn't know about it until afterwards.

Suzy - did I read that you've got a head-cold? Look after yourself.
Big hugs and good thoughts to those who need them, you know who you are!
I have been voting as often as it will let me and I can remember.
Yes, I did fix up up the problem with the antibiotics with Inner Health Plus - recommended by my chemist but I think someone here mentioned it or yoghurt or Yakult. Anyway almost 100% now just a residual cough.

Mama and MizT - I remember learning 'Now is the Hour' in singing class at school in Grade 3. It still brings a tear to my eye as I remember my teacher from that year, a lovely Scotswoman and her son, returning to Scotland at the end of the school year and we sang that song to them on the last day.

I went to see my Mum today for the first time in over 2 weeks. It's 2 weeks today since my MIL passed away, and I've wanted to get to my Mum ever since but the Gods have stopped me one way or another until now. Had a really nice visit, she was quite chatty in her own way (gibberish) but it was nice to see her cheerful. Love ya Mum!

What a wonderful site this is...filled with smart, accommodating folk who respond so quickly it makes your head swim.
Tricia...I can't tell you how grateful I am for your help in not only getting the lyrics to the song, but a link where I have been listening to it over and over again.
I was surprised that it was written as far back as it was, and recorded as late as 1960...very interesting. I am simply thrilled. CynB, we share another experience...this only goes to show how no matter where we live in this world...we have more in common than one would expect.
I will now be trying to see if I can find anything on you tube regarding this....I really didn't think I would get an answer any time soon.... oh wow... I'm hyped!!! Thank you , thank you thank you!

Hi, CynB and Mama! Love to read your input also on the music we've been talking about! I've been off listening to some of the music mentioned on the previous page. It's an education! If only it were earlier (nearly 1 a.m.), I'd keep going. Instead, I must head off to bed.
Cyn, it's so good to hear that you're feeling better!
Mama, what a relief that your headache is better!

"Now is the Hour" - The Maori Farewell by Hayley Westenra

Marty Robbins Sings 'Now Is The Hour.' - from his 'Song Of The Islands' album which featured a collection of Hawaiian songs. 'Now Is The Hour' however, derives from New Zealand Maori origins.

Not sure where the chat about musical tastes started, there are a couple of pages I have not yet caught up on. Being the youngest of 6, heard a lot of different stuff growing up, but I would say mostly the Beatles from my sisters. Mum and Bill liked the crooners and the blues. I still love listening to Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and the like. During my teens it was really only my brother and I left at home, so a lot of my input was through him who is four years older. Latterly through hubby who is of the same age as my bro. I love Led Zeppelin and both Tim Buckley and his son Jeff. Hubby is also into a lot of prog rock like Yes, ELP and others who I tend to find quite hohum!
If I wasn't just a toddler, I would have been at Monterey AND Woodstock! We have Woodstock on DVD and I am sure I know it all off by heart.

Well, we are just about recovered from the reunion weekend away. I did all the driving, just easier that way, 6 hours both directions. We left home Saturday morning, arrived mid afternoon and booked into the motel room that my SIL had arranged for us (5 rooms in all for the travellers). Fantastic room, very comfortable. After a quick shower and preen, we headed over to hubby's sister and BIL's house where the gatherings were to be held. Drinkies first, then after all the others had arrived, a curry dinner feast fit for the Raj! We all had a reasonably early evening, I think we were back to the motel by 10.30. Next day was the true reunion gathering, Christmas in August. They outdid themselves with a turkey to die for, ham and all the trimmings. Have no idea what time lunch was served, but we all stayed, and stayed...and stayed, long enough for the leftover to be brought out with bread rolls to start the eating fest again!
The others started heading off late in the evening, but hubby, Hannah and I stayed till well after midnight having a thoroughly enjoyable chat with SIL and family.
Hubby says it was his best birthday ever, it happening to fall on the same day. He can't even remember the last time he spent his birthday with his family. He had a VERY good time, so much so that Hannah and I are still giggling at his escapades! But, as we agreed, what happens on reunion weekend stays on reunion weekend!

Afternoon all,
Happy Birthday Robert! I hope you are having a great one!!!
The music I get to listen to these days: System of the Down; Rise Against; Skillet; Breaking Benjamin; Avenged Sevenfold; Bring me the Horizon; Dead by April; All Time Low; Korn; Plus 44, Paramore, Missy Higgins, Tenacious D, Glee songs, Avril Lavigne and of course.... Alie.
It was funny, this morning after reading people talk about songs I put the radio on and listened to the lyrics of songs that have just generally been background before. My brain won't let me remember what they were, but I do remember some were kind of shocking and others were hilarious.

OMG, my son, who is supposed to be coming over to dinner with Em tonight, just rang me to say he walked into his back glass sliding door and has badly cut his leg. One of his friends arrived to collect him just as he called me, to take him to the Doctors.
I feel as sick as I did when he cut his arm open as a child. He's nearly 40. Nobody told me this before I had kids!!

Mohawk showed up at school today. Turns out he was going out when his mother wanted him to stay home and she said 'if you leave, don't come back'. So he didn't. That's three for three, with each one younger than the one before... Unlike with Three though, she is helping this one get settled. Hmmm.

He and his friend were going to collect Em from after school care on the way to the doc. He said he's unsure how bad it is because once he realised he'd done it, he just covered it and held it tightly. Hopefully it's not bad. Watch this space.

Let us know how many stitches he had, Cyn.
I know, I know. Go to bed, Heidi. It's after 4 am, and coming down in buckets outside. Of course. Just had a crop of alfalfa cut and it's being damaged. The rain knocks the leaves off the drying plants, so the nutritional value may be halved. If this cutting isn't a complete loss.

OMG - I had a seniors moment and once I'd heard from him I was so relieved that I sat down and had dinner, watched some TV, etc etc etc - Thanks to Broni, I'm back here.
He's OK, in pain and off work for at least a week. It's hard to explain but there's been no stitches because it sliced jagged along the leg instead of into it. The doc has put it back in place with those butterfly thingys, the name of which I've forgotten, then wrapped it up tight which is how it has to stay until Fri afternoon when he goes back to the doctor. No work. Pain-killers. Can drive his car but not forklift at work.
Sorry girls, I really am!

Mamacita, yours was an easy search, I just asked Mr Google to look for lyrics + " Now is the hour" and I got lots of sites to choose from. the first would not let me copy lyrics to past to our board, I got a copy on the second and the third was the recording. I did not look at the other 1,789 hehehe. Glad to be of help.

Good news that it wasn't extremely serious, Cyn. I can understand that 100% of your thoughts were for Col with nothing left for anything else. Your actions afterwards were proof that your brain needed to reboot. You did mindless stuff (cooking, watch TV, etc.) after getting word.
