I think the whole medical system would work a lot better if docs and nurses had to take a bit of their own medicine! Make a surgeon suffer the same pain he puts his patients in, there would soon be changes to his pain med policy...

How exciting Heidi!
MizT, I wish you knew what set it off too! More hugs from me!! I have no idea what the vinegar does, but at christmas when we buy our ham I keep it in a ham bag soaked in vinegar like it tells me to...
I am going to swear in that pot room today! I haven't done that in ages so figured it was time to give hubby a break. I'll fling meat loaf because then I can make 2 and put one in the freezer for next week. I might even do a potato bake to go with it... maybe not, if I do too much hubby might send me off to the doc.

Look at that - less than an hour and I have assembled a meatloaf and a potato bake. Never thought I had it in me.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I make a potato bake I'm likely to throw in a bit of whatever is around. Maybe a veg, some ham or bacon... well today there was some leftover port roast and I thought, why not? I sliced off a couple of extra slices to give to the animals - I gave Rocky his first slice, then Shadow, then Rocky got my whole hand into his mouth going for his second one!!!! I think it must have tasted good... the roast, not my hand.

MizT, Vinegar is a natural preservative. The acidic nature of vinegar prevents bacteria growth.
I can remember when we just had an ice chest and if the meat was starting to spoil it would get wiped over with vinegar. Now days we would throw it out, then we could not afford to.

Where is everybody? Do you all have lives????
The family is home and dinner was given 2 thumbs up.
Ally has her first baseball bruise (that she remembers anyway). She is aching all over, but especially her throwing arm. My suggestion that you don't need to wear makeup to baseball training was apparently useless as some of the other girls were wearing even more :(. She is going to cop heaps while they are away - she is a cheekie rookie... I see midnight swims in her future...

Hi All My Friends!
I have been remis, but hope to make ammends...soon, and sorry if my gramma and spelling are not up to scratch.
Zusy, the boat is still mine and hoping to take her out for a good run soon, Poss and I took her out two weekends ago just for a run and to move the marine park that had grown on her underbelly!
MizT, life has been a bit topsy turvy with changing jobs and having another full time boarder for longer than expected, the light is still at the end of the tunnel but it is the curved balls that keep on getting me. I really miss having the time to chat to my friends.
OK save and post and still on the 27th page 321

Heidi and Theresa, with you about the Vet's they do seem to care more, but here they cost an arm and a leg and I for one would never want to see my pets suffer. But have found when I was caring for my parents they would not give them the same consideration.
OK off my soapbox!

Hello everyone.
Broni, nice to see you posting.
Hope your job is going okay.
Wearing make up to baseball training?
That does not surprise me.
I cannot believe the girls at Ethan's school and the make up they wear.
Even if it is Avon. heheh lol
I do not think it should be allowed at school.

June, congratulations on finishing all those aprons.
I have all these bits and bobs of sewing jobs but cannot seem to get around to it.
No wonder, my last big Avon order was a beauty and that has taken up all of my week delivering it etc.
Still have some to deliver.

So I am waiting to see if he phones, hopefully in about half an hour.

Broni, good to have more hugs today, I never say no to hugs! Thank you. Very good to see so many comments from you today, it is like old times again
.
June, thanks for the info on the vinegar. Now I do remember ages ago wiping questionable meat with vinegar, but had never used it to store meat before.
Broni, you are right, who can afford to throw away meat or anything these days?? Groceries aare a bit dear.
Thumb is just a bit stiff this morning, after wearing brace all night. I did sleep even if up every 2 hours. You know why.
Cool this morning, so I should go bake hubby more biscuits to go with his ham. I will cook up the bits, [lus utilize the pan drippings from baking and make gravy, he will be a happy camper.
Time for coffee, I will return. Again, thank you for my hugs, they were appreciated.

Heidi, if I ever get a chance to come to your neighborhood, promise me you won't worry about what the lawn looks like. Like Broni said, it's the people who count, not the way the place looks.
Tricia, hope your hand is feeling a little better. I can't imagine a doctor who won't fill that prescription. He should have the same surgery and feel what it is like. But if he did have that surgery, he probably would not be performing surgery anymore.

Hello, c'est moi!
Suzy, now I know what you mean about supper. We use supper and dinner interchangeably here. BTW, to me meatloaf is a "comfort" food, just like homemade stew.
Broni, any idea on when you will have some "me" time again? Vets here cost an arm and a leg too. I hate shopping too ... I like to get in, get what I need and get out. Sometimes I go out shopping with my sisters and that means the whole day of wandering from one store to another. Not fun for me, but I grin and bear it because they like it so much.
Heidi, if Grass-hopper has gone to your page on this site she would certainly know about your collies. I tend to go bananas when we have company coming by cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Then when the company arrives I'm too tired to enjoy them. Take it easy and enjoy yourself, she is coming to see you. I hope you have fun.
Can't believe IH liked the butterflies! Way to go!

I hate shopping, too. I prefer buying everything except food online. Most things are cheaper on the internet, especially when you factor in time, gas, stress and crowds.
I have not gotten outside to mow the lawn. My left foot is so swollen that I can't get a shoe on easily.

Here people refer to "dinner" as the noon meal, and 'supper' as the evening meal. I grew up with "supper" and "dinner" being used interchangeably for the evening meal. It gets very confusing.

Heidi, is it gout in the foot? My hubby gets that from time to time. Now as soon as he feels a twinge he takes medication for a few days and it's gone. Sorry about the swelling in the mouth again, hopefully you can get an appointment soon to get it fixed once and for all.

I have no energy today. I've done three loads of yrdnual and changed one bed. Couldn't get the grandie to go to sleep last night. She wanted her dad, she wanted her mom, she wanted a drink ...... I finally brought her down to the couch to sleep with her mom because I was having trouble staying awake. I didn't get home until 10:30 last night. Seems to have thrown my system out of whack. Yawn.

I don't mind shopping but I hate grocery shopping. Spent way to much today. Went to the butcher to stock up freezer, which is empty. The Jewish holidays are coming up and I will be cooking. My family is coming the first night, hubby's family the second night. I bought what I needed today so it cost more than usual. Put up a big pot of chicken soup already. I will freeze it and just reheat for dinner. Made enough for both nights. I am making a roast beef the first night and got big one so there should be enough left for the second night. I will make chicken breasts the first night and I am going to roast 2 chickens for the second night. I usually end up with plenty of leftovers.

Hi everyone. It is lovely to have time to chat,I have been doing an assignment for 7 hours and I should be asleep but am wide awake.
The girls were 3 yrs on Friday and are having a small party with their cousins today.I haven't seen the 5 grandkids together since son split with his wife, so it will be enjoyable.
The sun is beginning to rise, the temp is dropping so I will lay down and watch some TV under the doona.Continued well wishes for all.

Up early because Ebob has an early start at work. Then I have to whip around and undo some of yesterdays mess before Ally's friend arrives so they can practice for today. I hope they warm up their voices! She's going to be doing a lot of singing today!!

Suzy, hope Ally's performance goes well today. Be sure to tell us about it later.
Nola, 7 hours on an assignment is a LOT, and I can understand the not sleeping. Your brain has been on overtime, it is still going and going like the energizer bunny, right? Enjoy having all the grandies together, such fun. Happy Birthday to the twins.
(one for each hehehe)
Come back and tell us about the party when you can.
Tami, soup, chicken and roast beef all for one meal? No wonder you have a big grocery bill and also have leftovers. sounds wonderful, and we want a report once done please. OK, I do not know a lot about Jewish holidays, and I looked up on a calendar. there are 2 holidays coming up early September, so which one are you cooking for. AND I have another question. This calendar I consulted online lists some holidays from sunset to sunset, but others are listed from sunset to nightfall. what is the difference??
http://www.chabad.org/calendar/holidays_cdo/aid/672022/jewish/2010-Holidays.htm
Theresa, you have done more than I have today. I went back to bed, and I slept for 5 hours! I do think the pain meds that did not work at first last night decided to work this morning, knocked me out. But hand is so much better today, I am thankful of that.
Al and I sat out for a bit on back porch. At 3:30 pm!! It was warm but a lovely breeze blowing and no humidity, lovely. It has been since spring since we could do that mid day. Tomorrow should be even cooler, but probably more rain tomorrow. At least I di not have to water lants, but oh dear, it is making the grass grow!
Enough for now, I shall return and that is a threat hehehe.
