I think if I lived that close to the ocean, I would visit more often than Susan and Tami do. I just love it! Actually any body of water larger than a mud puddle will do! If I go to town, I manage to at least drive through the park and check out our little river. If I can squeeze out time, I will stop for a few minutes to sit and look, often with my lunch. AND this is just a little river, what would I do with a whole ocean?? Did I mention that I love water??

Suzy, we do wear sunscreen. The boys are well trained. Last year they started wearing t-shirts in the water so this year I bought them shirts that are meant to be worn in the water. They offer more sun protection and they dry quickly. I am not going to argue with them wanting to wear shirts. I grew up in Florida and never put on sunscreen. I also never wore much more than a bathing suit or shorts and a t-shirt. I did not burn as a kid but I know the damage was done. So far I have been lucky but I do keep an I eye on my skin.

Good morning all.
Well, I feel better to know that I am not alone when it comes to understanding mobile phones - this one will connect me to the net - I don't want that, thank you!
Heidi - poor Cole - I hate to hear about any of your dogs being ill. (I did however have a vision of you, one day in the future, with the cops and their blue-light which shows up blood - and them saying 'It's everywhere - in the house, in the car - what's happened here?' hehehe)
MizT - I too live near the sea - 5-10 minutes to the bay - and seldom go near it. But I am always awestruck whenever I catch sight of it as I drive around. Just a glimpse of the sea can change my mood and there are plenty of glimpses just in a trip to the shopping centre or to visit my Mum or sister. Often when I leave my Mum, I feel low because of her condition, but one of the first corners that I turn faces me straight towards the bay from the top of a hill and on a bright sunny day, with the blue water sparkling and the islands and sand dunes in the background - it is spectacular!

What about proof reading, Teach?
CynB.... I dread what would happen here if Crime Scene Investigators ever checked this place for blood. They'd drag me away in chains, and maybe re-open Alcatraz. I don't think that there's an inch of the floor that hasn't had blood on it, blood has been all over the walls and even splattered on the ceiling. I still find blood in various nooks and crannies. I don't know how I survived that month with Cole.

Speaking of Mobile Phones, mine just arrived (ordered late Sunday Afternoon, arrive early Tuesday Morn).
The boy/s have been told they have to help their 'Technically Challenged Old Mum' get the phone operational, how it works, etc, and get the old mobile # onto the new etc etc etc...

Rolanda - thanks - you're younger than me - I can't remember anything any more.
I'm distracted all day today, waiting and listening for the decision on the election. They said 2pm, now it's back to 3 or 3.30pm. Waiting, waiting, waiting..................

Hi everyone, I'm back. Holidays just go far too fast! Or is it that I'm getting old and everything goes far too fast?
I've a lot of catching up to do - I'm only on pg 317.
The holiday was lovely, I really enjoyed the cold. I'm thinking of retiring south for the cooler climate - maybe around Coffs Harbour. Of course, retirement is years away.
We had lovely visits with my sister and my SIL. We met up with two nieces and their families as well.
We had some lovely days in Canberra, really enjoyed site seeing in the Blue Mountains and touring the Jenolan Caves and spent a few relaxing days at Nelsons Bay.
Highlight of the trip was seeing a platypus in the wild.
All goods things come to an end and now I'm back at work. I'll also be working this weekend and through next week. I'll be exhausted by the end of it but fortunately it only happens once a year.

# 1 son's girlfriend is moving in soon. She is at our house most of the week anyway. He did ask if it was ok but now I have the hard decision -how much board do I charge? I've been thinking I will charge as much as #2 son pays. He eats like a horse but is barely at home. She eats like a sparrow and is always around.

Board, hmm good question Victoria..
My boys have paid minimal, considering they are Uni Students, and do have Casual Jobs. Their board goes up for the year on their birthdays. Over the years it has been $20 a month more, but this year, I upped Boy#2 board up $30 a month.. ( just of late he is not home for dinner everynight. Boy #1 moved out Easter 2009.
When Boy #2 finshes Uni, and is earning more $$$, and still living at home, it will go up dramatically!!

Cyn, Rolanda's right - one more day until I get this ugly, itchy, irritating thing off my face. It's driving me mad!
Vicki, I think the same as #1 son pays. Wish my kids paid board.
Cyn and Rolanda, they seem to keep changing their minds! The betting agencies are saying the coalition doesn't have a chance now, it's going to be Labor. I'm sure they were saying the opposite before the election?! One person says the coalition will be better for the indigenous than Labor and someone else says the opposite. Abbott has a hole in his budget for one thing, Gillard has a hole in hers for another.... get it over with already!!!

Good Evening, SA9A!
Hi, Tami, Heidi, Broni, Theresa, Rolanda, June, Suzy, MizTricia, and CynB.
Heidi, I hope you are feeling better! Have you been able to schedule an appointment with your dentist? I'm so sorry to hear about Cole - both when he had the bleeding problem and now! Fingers crossed that the vet will have something "up her/his sleeve" that will help!
Rolanda, your new caravan looks wonderful, with many of the comforts of home! I'm sure you will have some amazing weekend and longer vacations in it!
June, I hope the weather and the competition are good for lawn bowls today!
Suzy, I'm glad you didn't have a great deal of damage from the winds. Also glad that the child was referred to the proper authorities and hope that he can get the help/services he needs!
Theresa and MizT, I hope you enjoyed your coffee outdoors - and hope you are both feeling better!
CynB and Rolanda, I hope you are doing well with your new phones! I understand completely, as I use mine mainly for a phone call that is crucial and/or important. Good luck figuring them out!
Theresa, Suzy and Tami, I hope your rain storms were light and easily absorbed by the ground, causing no problems!
Time to turn to page 336 to finish reading.

Hi, Gail and Victoria, who have joined us since the page turn!
Heidi, sending good positive vibes that Cole continues to show some improvement! I imagine it's a relief to have IH away when you have something like this weighing heavily on you!
Suzy, good luck with the cut and stitch tomorrow!
Welcome home, Victoria! Sounds like we won't see very much of you until things calm down at work, though! What fun to see a platypus in the wild! Good luck deciding on the appropriate fees for room and board!
I'm falling asleep at the keyboard, so will head to bed. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon/evening! Good Night!

Good Night Sudokuland. Time to turn in. I read, lots of talk about the election, and I have never understood your system where there has to be a joining of parties to get your leader. It would drive me batty.
Heidi, have you not also buried Collies on your property? First the blood, then the bones, yes, they would put you UNDER the jail.
Cyn, my daughter also lives near the ocean, the Pacific, in California. she often would phone me while driving and driving usually took her close enough to see the ocean. she knew she had to describe it to me in detain, the colors, presence or absence of clouds, everything. she said she could drive and barely notice until I made her describe it for me.
When driving here in years past, I always would see and enjoy any water we drove over, from a creek to a river or lake. NOW all bridges have solid concrete sides, you cannot look out and see a dern thing, irritates me no end! Only time I see water now is when driving along a causeway, or road that parallels the lake or river, bummer.
Good night now, see you tomorrow sometime. I am going up to the medical center with hubby tomorrow early, he has an an appointment.

SUZY, will be thinking of you for your cut and stitch. I am not sure which is worse, the odor of the scrape and burn or the noise of the sutures for the cut and stitch. Mine, being very close to my ear, sounded very loud and took such a long time.
Hope yours is easy and fast and heals properly and quickly. OH, remember as soon as you can, start to rub the incision line. No meds needed, just rub it long and often. I " rubbed away" my scar that way, it is almost invisible! My dermatologist said new scar tissue is very malleable, almost like putty, and if you rub it enough, it will almost disappear.

Sleep well MizT. For me the worst one was the one on my upper eyelid. Hearing the doc discuss which way distorted my eyebrow or eyelid... Also the anaesthetic had put my damaged nerve into hyper-drive so when his hand touched my cheek I wanted to fly off the table - not a good move with a scalpel right near your eye...
