Suzy, only 13 stitches? Nurse said I had about 30. Could only estimate cause she had lost count!

So very glad you were not alone, and looking forward to your story about the lady you met. People can be so nice sometimes, sounds like you met one of the nice ones today.

I also got real pain meds after the cut and stitch, the controlled substance stuff. For a scrape and burn it is "go home, take Tylenol, if that does not do it, call the office, we can phone you in something. Reason I would never schedule on Thursday afternoon, ause he is closed Fridays ( he teaches at the Med school on Fridays) and no way I gonna be left hurting for 3 days. I am such a wimp when it comes to pain.

Actually, that is only partly true. I really feel more pain from the same pain stimulus than a normal person does. That is fibromyalgia for ya.

Good Evening - nearly morning (11:30 p.m.) - to all! Looks like this has been a busy posting day - nearly 3 pages to read since I last went to bed.

Hi, Rolanda, Suzy, MizTricia, Gail, Victoria, CynB, Theresa, Tami, Heidi, Brenda, June, and Judy! I hope I didn't miss anyone!

Suzy, I hope your appointment went well today!

MizT, I hope Al's appointment also went well! SO sorry that you came home with the mother of all headaches! Hopefully you felt better as the day went on!

Heidi, I hope your appointment for Cole at the vet goes well! (I see it's now scheduled for Thursday.) Also, I hope your epidural tomorrow is an awful one!

I'm glad the elections down under have been decided! Seems like politicians everywhere escape the "most loved and appreciated" lists! Apparently your elections are not scheduled as ours are. Yikes, I can't imagine going through it every 18 months or so!

I'm loving the stories everyone is sharing about water! I grew up about .5 mile from the Mississippi River. My family didn't have the money for a boat, but maybe once a year or so were invited by friends to join them for a ride up river to a sand bar and back. Every year we would see the Delta Queen paddle wheeler as it traveled up river and came back; it would even dock for a time in my town. I loved watching the river and boats/barges on it, but had a GREAT respect for it, as my Dad had nearly drowned in it when he was a boy. My cousin's young BIL went through the ice when he was about 7 or 8 and wasn't found until spring. A friend's brother and his friend lost a car into the water while out ice fishing. I think what I like most of all is watching sunsets over the water!

Suzy, I hope the pain is minor or non-existent! I'm glad the actual procedure went well!

Heidi, I'm glad you enjoyed a delicious dinner and excellent conversation with IH's relatives! What a shame he missed it! I'm glad that Cole had a better day today!

Sending lots of love, {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}, and positive vibes for everyone! Now it's nearly midnight, and I'm really dragging. Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow!

Julie.... The Delta Queen is now based in Louisville on the Ohio River.
Another water story...... Growing up, we had a swimming pool in the back yard. A big one, nearly Olympic sized. My step-father kept it heated to 92℉ / 33.3℃!!! I considered it unusable because of that. So, whenever I wanted to swim, I'd walk the half mile through woods to the shore of Lake Michigan and swim there. It was always refreshingly cold. Nowadays, it would be unthinkable to do that. I was always alone and did not go to a public beach.

OH Julie, I can see where you do have a healthy respect for water, so sad about the loss of life and property to the river. Thanks so much for sharing with us. Watching the boats and barges was something I liked, would dream about riding off on one of them, spend my life riding on the river hehehe.

I love sunset over the water also, one of my favorite things.

Now we were not well off by a long shot, dad was a blue collar worker, and to have a boat we did without a LOT of other things. We never ate meals out, Never spent the night in a Motel, we camped out and the boat was our entertainment. We were only allowed 3 ice cubes in iced tea or kool aide, no sodas in tons of ice, we could buy gasoline for boat or Ice . We had full home cooked meals at the noon hour, same fare we would have had at home, you get the picture. Dad bought autos at auction, repaired them, and sold to make enough money to buy a newer boat. Mom even went back to work when I was 13 and old enough to babysit the siblings till she got home, means I cooked dinner, could not stay at school for extra curricular activities, things like that, but for us, it was worth it.

I'm up!

Julie, I'm so sorry to hear about the little boy lost through the ice. What a horrible time that must have been for everyone. I can see why care would need to be taken around it. I love sunrise or sunset over water too. A very clear night on a beach far from any cities is also magnificent. It feels like you could almost touch the stars.

We don't usually have elections so quickly Julie, but with a minority government we all think it's going to happen that soon as it will be hard to get anything through. I also wish we had your system where you know exactly when the next election will be out into infinity.

Heidi, your dinner out sounds lovely. How did Gil turn out the way he did when all of his relatives sound wonderful?? The black sheep?

MizT, you have mentioned cooking dinner from a young age before. I think back to what I was like at that age and my mother wouldn't have dared leave me to cook dinner for everyone - it would have been a disaster. My father wouldn't have let her anyway - the neighbours might talk.

MizT, your spot must have been huge to need so many stitches!! Mine was about 7mm around. A few mm clearance around it and the rest to make a neat scar. We can buy pain killers with codeine in them over the counter. A lower dose than the prescription version, but plenty for most things. The doc said to use acetaminophin with codeine, but I haven't needed it yet. After I used the ice pack earlier I didn't even need a regular pain killer. I am starting to feel something dull though so I think the anaesthetic is wearing off. That needle is the worst part of the whole procedure!!!

Not all of IH's relatives are wonderful. I only associate with the good ones. He just has a lot more good ones than I have. I was the black sheep of my family.

It's approaching 3 am, so I should head off to bed. I need to be up in 5 1/2 hours to go in for the epidural. I don't care if I get only a little sleep tonight. I'll be sleeping most of tomorrow anyways.
Everybody.
(I may listen to an episode of "The Goon Show" in bed before falling asleep. I have wireless headphones so IH won't hear it.)

Woo hoo! Tickets to see Robin Williams at the Sydney Entertainment Centre! Broke the budget, but we've spent so much on the kids this month that I was determined hubby would get to see him. He's been a fan since before Mork and Mindy days.

Oh, yeah, Suzy.... I've heard Robin Williams really hates people to ask him to say "Nanu Nanu". He wants to keep doing new stuff. "Mork and Mindy" is over. I would have loved to have been around that old show, though, watching Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters interacting.

I forgot to tell you about the wonderful lady who kept me company while I was waiting. We were talking about skin types and lifestyles that increase the risk of skin cancer. She has had multiple melanomas. Her mother died when she was very young so her father had to take her and her brother to work with him in the outback. "If she had a dollar for every night they slept under the stars". Then when they got older and had to go to school he had a bit of property to train horses on so they were outside all of the time then too. She doesn't mind at all as that kind of life makes you more 'pat chest as can't find the word' (boy do I know that feeling!). She also used to put baby oil on to sunbathe and has a bathing suit shaped section of her body that has no freckles, like she is still wearing one. Her husband died 3 years ago and she recently went overseas for the first time, which she says has changed her whole outlook on life. Giggle, giggle, and I think she was telling me that she had gone with a group of people including a man she had met when checking out a house for friends. To be 80 and giggling over meeting a man was so wonderful! She was wonderful.

Suzy, that lady sounds like a nice person to pass the time with. Glad the experience had some good.
Heidi, wishing you a horrible epidural and a nice nap after.
I am here early. Decided to sneak on pooter now because I will be busy tonight. Family coming for dinner for Rosh Hashanah.
Tricia, you asked about sunset and nightfall. Not sure if I am correct but here is my best guess. Sunset is when the sun first starts to go down. I know my nephew will not break sabbath until 3 stars appear in the sky. I am assuming that would be nightfall, or darker than sunset. Sorry it took so long for an answer.

I made a math mistake earlier. I meant that I had to get up in 4 1/2 hours, not 5 1/2. I leave for the epidural in 15 minutes. Still need to brush my hair, brush my teeth and wash my face. 'Pooter time is more important. I have my priorities straight.

Suzy pleased your procedure wasn't as bad as you expected and that the wound heals nicely.
June I had a look at the property you mentioned which was up for sale. It looks a really lovely place to live, though for the size of the property the house is rather small. I wonder how much that size property sells for. I noticed that it could be split into 2 (with permissions). Here a piece of land like that would be snapped up and hundreds of houses would be built on it.

Good morning everyone.

Heidi, I think Gail's comment about your epidural says it best. I got a chuckle out of it.

Suzy, glad it's over and hope healing is speedy.

Just got back from getting the grandies ready and off on the school bus. Oh, what a hectic time. They don't want to get ready, don't want to brush their teeth, don't want to eat, don't want their hair brushed ... and on and on and on. Oh well, only 10 more months of this to go before the end of school - how bad can it get?

Off to get some of my stuff done and start with a dose of Tylenol. Rainy here and my arthritis is acting up. Also very cool.

Brenda, the main house we lived in was burnt in the bush fires. The remaining house was a workman's cottage. There were three houses when we sold it 10 years ago and we could not get permission to subdivide. Also one third of the property is subjected to flooding. Very good agricultural land. Dad was milking about 100 cows a day 30 years ago.

Hi everyone.
No time to read the posts.
I have been very busy logging in another Avon order.
This one is the best yet, and I thought the last one was a beauty.
50 customers have bought $2,027 worth.
No wonder I am tired.
Nite all.

Good Morning Sudokuland. Heidi good luck for a bad stick today, and a nice long nap after.

Suzy, perhaps why I love to cook so much now comes from my early introduction to cooking. Being oldest, I always helped Mom with food preparation from an even younger age, my younger sisters doing the set and clear the table thing. But it was my Dad who taught me to cook. Burning dinner was unthinkable, we would have gone to bed hungry!

I need coffee, hard to wake this morning. was hard to go to sleep last night, ever been too tired to go to sleep?

I remember now you saying something about the house being burnt in bush fires June, but had forgotten. Over here builders have been building houses on river flood plains, just because they had never been flooded before, and guess what they have flooded since and everyone complains. We always read the small details from surveys and info from land registry to make sure we have no problems like that.

Brenda, I think the last time the flats were flooded was about 1994. There are a couple of photos of the old home on my page. It was heritage listed and in bad repair which did reduce the value of the place when we sold it.

We have had a lot of rain here lately, June, and that is probably why "Arthur" has come to visit. In fact over the next 7 days, Saturday is the only day so far where there is no rain in the forecast. I too am finding it more and more difficult to knit and crochet. I have about three or four projects on the go and hope I can finish them.

I love Robin Williams. He seems like a genuinely nice person as well. He apparently is the guardian of Christopher Reeves' son, and he won't talk about it at all from what I can understand.

Back from the epidural. I can't tell you if it was a bad one or not. The Doctor got me engaged in a discussion about my Collies, and it completely distracted me, which was his intent. But it feels like it will be effective.

I hope the epidural is very effective Heidi.

Viv, amazing order! Delivering to 50 people is going to be time consuming...

Theresa, I'm wondering if Arthur is starting to set up shop here. I sometimes have trouble bending my little fingers. It's a weird feeling. I don't know whether to hope the forecast is wrong so you feel better because I don't know if your area really needs the rain!

June, I wouldn't be brave enough to buy a heritage listed house! Deciphering the requirements and dealing with the bureauracracy would probably drive me insane.

Tami, I hope your evening with the family is a lot of fun.

Brenda, isn't that always the way? It's like buying a house next door to an airport and then complaining about the noise. Hundreds of houses were built near a medical nuclear reactor, and they then tried to shut it down. Duh!!

Suzy... people in farm country have to deal with that all the time. City people move out here, and then complain violently about the aroma from the animals. Or about the tractors having to be on the roads. If they don't like it, they should go back to the cities.
