I was just reading that identical twins born in Florida have birthdays in different decades and it reminded me of my friends. They have identical twins who were born on their older brother's birthday! Three on one day...

I've been talking with the head of the Collie Rescue group about Melony. She supports my decision. I've been pretty teary-eyed about this.

Thanks for the warm thoughts. We have our kerosene heater and the kitchen is too hot, near 80 degrees. the living room is a comfy 70 and the bedroom is cooler, but tolerable, for short visits. We will be OK until we can get furnace fan motor replaced.

BEAN, good to get your message, even if it is second hand hehehe.

CynB, that was so sweet, your dog running out to rescue her toys. Just like a child, whatever you say they will NOT do, they immediately set about doing.

Heidi, thanks for the offer of the blankets, mighty sweet of you. I do have a lovely micro fleece blanket that I sometimes get too warm under. It takes any bit of body heat and surrounds you with it. Best blanket I ever bought, it was from wal mart and called a mink blanket. Before I had it, my feet were always cold in bed, socks or not, feet were cold, knees were cold and this place on my backside, cold. Now I wake toasty warm and lots less achey cause of my wonderful blanket. I had a nap under it a bit ago, as soon as I was able to open the doors to bedroom again and forgot all about the bedroom being a bit chilly.

Trying to appear perfectly still. There is a bird I don't recognise sitting right outside my window. I wonder what it is? Three sulphur-crested thingys ripped branches off my apple tree this morning. I've thrown some tulle over it, which I'm sure is not the usual choice of gardeners.

Suzy,I wish you could take a picture of the bird so we all can see it. I would also like to see a picture of the dressed-up apple tree.

Tami, priceless comment by hubby. Now just why did son have to sniff his brother's hand? Boys, I will never understand them!

OH DEAR, town butcher does not gound at all good. Goof for you Suzy, being a friend and advocate and helping get proper treatment.

Hope you were successful, Tami. I know it is a hard decision for Heidi. she loves her colllies so much.

Well, I am making dinner, beef tips tonight. Might add a bit of sour cream and some sauteed onions once the tips are tender. Now what to go with?

Will try to chech back in again, later.

Hugs to all and extras to Heidi

Woohoo...looks like I can post today! Keep getting locked out when I click on comment type. Had a wonderful NY post for easy & here the other and I couldn't post...quite cheesed off I was.

Thank you Heidi for bringing yesterdays message over for me.

Tricia the suggestion of bed with a good book sounds like a good one too me! Hope the furnace is back and running ASAP without holdups.
Those sulphure crested thingy's are s real nuisance Suzy...your tree must look a treat!

So sorry to hear about Melony ... thoughts are with you Heidi. Glad Tami skyped you... doesn't stop the pain but it nourishes the soul to talk to friends that care

I just wanted to say how happy I am that tummy upset has resolved itself. No more tummy pains today, everything working as it should. Now to decide if I should phone doc and tell them about the Tylenol thing or not.

Suzanne... I have called Melony "The Energizer Bunny" for the last 2 years. As I said to the head of our Collie Rescue group, "The Energizer Bunny's battery has worn out." Melony is ancient. She can no longer get around. She doesn't want to eat. If she succeeds in standing, she immediately falls over again. I will have to take her to the Vet tomorrow morning.

MizTricia, ABSOLUTELY tell the doctor about the tylenol. You want to make sure that it didn't create any more problems.
Heidi, I will be thinking of you tomorrow.
Bean, glad you were able to post today.

Heidi: Thanks for clearing that up about Melony! My prayers & thoughts are with you. We have a 15 year old cat named Tigger, we know that sometime soon he'll have to be put down, we've had him since he was a kitten. Will be very sad when that happens, but I know (as you do) that there is a TERRIFIC support system here!! Lean on us when you need to!! Love you!

MizT, I would tell the doc about the tylenol. You never know if it is relevant.

I had a revelation about a med I'm on yesterday. Ever since I've been on it I've been gradually gaining weight. I weigh the most I ever have at the moment. I asked the doc if weight gain was a side effect and he said no. I finally figured out the problem!! This med has to be taken with food or it makes me feel really ill. If I forget to take it with dinner, I have something else to eat before I take it. If I feel sick I have something to eat to see if it helps... So the weight gain is caused by .... FOOD.

Just heading off to the airport now, had to print off my itinerary so couldn't go without saying goodbye.

Heidi, I am sorry to hear about Melony's turn for the worse. She is very lucky to have been rescued by you, a more loving person of animals, I do not know. ♥

Gail, have a safe trip and look forward to hearing from you when you get back.
Tricia, why do boys do half the things they do. I give up and just keep thinking "boys will be boys." Good thing I was never a real frilly girly-girl. I could always keep up, and usually beat, the boys.

Good morning you lovely SA people!
Suzy - what a revelation - FOOD causes weight gain - oh darnit!
MizT - I'm so worried about you being in the bitter cold without proper heating. I hope you can get it sorted quickly. And yes, tell the doc about the Tylenol - pleased your tummy troubles are over.
Gail - we'll miss you. Hope Bill is well when you get there - and think of and talk about the happy times.
Heidi - so sad about Melony. I'm sure I met her on Skype one day. Betty lost Dexter, a dear personal friend of mine lost her Monty (also a border collie) and now Melony, she had a happy life with you. All within days.
Oh Tami - did love the story and aren't you glad you didn't have to deal with the clean-up!
Hi eaa, Bobbi, Suzanne, Bean etc.

It looks like I'm getting another geriatric Rescue Collie. All I know so far is that she's 11 years old and has incontinence issues that the owner cannot handle any more. Since I have a dog door, and the dogs can let themselves out as the need arises, the problem may not be a big one here. The only other alternative is to have her euthanized.

Suzy... That's the main reason that I cannot lose weight. I take a long list of meds that are to be taken with food, so no matter what I do, I cannot lose it. Then the Doctors who prescribe the meds that are to be taken with food tell me to lose weight! Catch 22!

Good morning all, though I cannot think what is good about it right now. I've just taken Richard to the station to go into London and it was -4C, had to scraped ice off the car windows even after having the engine running and the heater going for 15 minutes. Feel like going back to my nice warm bed again.
