I think the show that turned me into a Johnny fan was Edward Scissor Hands...

Elle, as in the model, is my age and went to school with a few of my uni friends. We had a close encounter with her in a pub - short shorts, high heels, working the crowd, and that was at 19 or 20...

I loved him in both those shows, and I thought he did a brilliant job in the Pirate movies. I have never seen Sweeney Todd, but I believe he was good in that too.

Plus I have heard he is just an all-round nice guy. He donated a basquillion to the hospital where his daughter was treated a couple of years ago.

I've heard that too. If it comes out in the news that he's done a Tiger Woods it will break my heart!

Good morning (still is, in Qld, just) lovely SA people!
Heidi - so sorry about the finches. I hope you find out what happened before it gets more of them.
Grandies still here - I can't think. Better get them some lunch - hope their Dad arrives soon (please!!).

Cyn, my mom is the same way. She loves having the boys over and then can't wait until I pick them up.

Tami, that is because grandchildren have a LOT more energy than grandparents have.

HEIDI, I hope you find out what happened to your finches. Could your flu have affected them? Or your being sick, did you do something differently than usual in their care?

It is almost my bedtime. I am having my required bedtime snack. Now a bad eating plan when you must have a snack, is it? Tonight was a pumpkin desert that I made. Hubby did not get the last one, asked, You can have this, right? when I said Yes I could, he saved it for me. See? There are reasons why I married him.

They are such delicate little birds that the list of possibilities is very long. Unfortunately, there is no bird Vet in the state of Kentucky. I'm more and more convinced that I need to add a sun room to the house, so they can get more sunlight and less artificial light. I've wanted a sun room long before I got the finches.

Kids have gone - we've been and had a coffee out - why does it taste better that way?? I think they tire me so because wherever I turn, there's at least one of them on my heels - very flattering but very tiring. Love 'em dearly, happy they've gone for today!
Heidi - a sun-room sounds a good idea. I have always loved the British glass conservatory idea, but it would be of no use in my Qld sub-tropical climate.
Could you contact a bird vet on the net for advice?

We've had over an inch of rain today. The temperature dropped from a steaming humid 32C to a comfortable 24C in about 5 minutes in the first downpour. We had just finished telling the girls how the dog won't go out into the rain when she made liars of us as she ran out and rescued her toys and brought them all under cover. Who knew she was so brave??

Hi everyone!
Heidi, so sorry to hear about all your little birds ...
Suzy, I think I haven't seen Robert D. Jnr in many movies, though I did love him in "Restoration" He's great as Sherlock Holmes - a bit crazy, not always "nice". Jude Law is also excellent, and quite cute, though not in the Johnny Depp league.

New Year is over so I changed my avatar - should have one for birthday's as we have 4 family birthdays between the 7th and the 18th - groan!
I love RD Jr in anything, he was great as Charlie Chaplin and I loved him with Mel Gibson in Air America. I'm pleased he seems to have conquered his demons.
JD of course is great in anything. My favourite movie of his is an obscure one called 'The Man who Cried' (I think) with Christina Ricci and Cate Blanchett - set in Paris as the Nazis entered in WWII. He was a gypsy. This film struck a real chord with me - I'd love to see it again.

I can't understand why Cyn, it positively smells like roses in here!

After spending most of the day feeding the sloshy machine, I'm just about to start sorting clothes to take with me to Adelaide. For the first time in a long time, I am actually going to take luggage with me, instead of just on-board baggage. I will be there for four nights, returning here late Friday night.
Just in case I don't get here in the morning before I go, have a great week everyone, don't miss me too much!

Gail have a safe trip, and hurry back. Of course we are going to miss you terribly/ Perhaps we will even forget who you are! Perhaps you should reintroduce yourself when you return, to be sure.

It is bitterly cold for us here in Alabama today. Temp is 22 F and wind chill is 17F. Of course today is the day our furnace motor decided to freeze up! I have an electric heater and my oven on, simmering water in a pan on the stove, while Al is working to get the fan motor back in working shape. Could use some good luck fairy dust here. It is getting cold here in bedroom, so I am going back to kitchen where it is warmer.

We do have a kerosein heater if this furnace is not repairable. Just have to have hubby clean it up first. Now I did suggest that he do just that before this cold front hit, out 8 days in the deep freeze. I don't think he did. Why clean it up when you might not need it???

but he did hit the ground running this morning to work on the furnace. now the part I find hard, having to wait for penetrating oil to soak in and possibly free up the whatsit. Hope it works, no place to buy a replacement motor till tomorrow.

Hugs to all today. Keep warm ( or cool) and send some of your excess degrees this way today.

OMG MizT.... what an awful thing to happen. And why does this happen on Sundays? Be grateful that you don't have our temps right now. It's 7℉ ( -13.9℃ ) here. We just had the pipe from the sump pump rupture. At least we can just shut that off until the plumber can get here.

Apparently, the new year is not starting well for my animals. The latest problem is Melony, my oldest foster/rescue. She is ancient for a Collie... she appears to be around 14 years old... and is very feeble. She's just taken a turn for the worst and will probably have to take a one-way trip to the Vet's tomorrow. She is such a sweet, loving girl. This breaks my heart.

Heidi, sad to hear about Melony. AND the ruptured pipe on your sump pump. With an old girl like Melony, this had to be expected, but I know you were hoping to postpone the inevitable as long as possible.

Ahhh, the lovely aroma of penetrating oil. Fan assembly is back in the furnace and it has cycled on and off once, Hope it holds for a day. I am left with instructions to " listen for any noise". He is out to his computer to search online for a replacement part locally. He said, this might work for 2 months or it might work for 2 hours, or anywhere in between. He knows it will not work forever, cause something is very worn, bearings I think he said.

I think I shall go light a nice scented candle to cover the smell of penetrating oil. would be bad enough if it was just at the furnace, but the fan is blowing it through the duct work. Small price to pay for heat. Pray that it stays working this time.

MizT, a good excuse to go back to bed with a good book! Hope it gets a permanent fix soon. You Temperature is about the same as ours, except ours is in Centigrade. Pleasantly cool here!
Heidi, sorry about Melony. Even with all the other dogs you will miss her.
Safe travels Gail. I hope you find Bill is OK. Remember your Mum with love and laughter.

TAMI, noone can complain louder than Floridians when it comes to cold. Just not accustomed to it.

How cold is it?

I keep running in here for about 5 minutes at a time. Just need my SA fix today.

I've gotten all the ornaments off the tree, now, and the lights are almost rolled up. I'm taking a break before finishing that, bundling up, then dragging the tree out to the pheasant pen (to add to their brush pile... they like them for shelter). After that, I have to feed the cows again.

MizT, I love the fact you got the last of the pumpkin desert. What a thoughtful hubby!

Cyn, how cute that your dog rescued her toys from the rain! How do you teach a dog to be neat?

Heidi, sad news about Melony. It's hard to lose a family member.

It's cooler here today and I'm loving it!

I have got to share this story that happened about 5 minutes ago. Hubby and boys were playing outside. Mitchell steps in something, reaches down to check the bottom of his shoe, and comes up with dog poop. Dylan comes over and smells Mitchell's hand and then says to his dad that he thinks he is going to throw up, which he does. Hubby gets out the hose washes off Mitchell's hand and shoe and hoses down the driveway to get rid of the throw up. He comes in to tell me what happens and says, "my boys are 9 and 13 and I am STILL cleaning their poop and throw up."

I haven't even started taking down our decorations yet. I put them up so much later than usual last year that I decided to keep them around for a little longer.

I have just been searching for the name and number of the doc who did my surgery a couple of years ago. It wasn't in any of my address books. I finally found discharge papers. Phew! A friend has been referred to the town butcher so I'm trying to find her an alternative.
