from MizT's sister.....
David & I went to their place yesterday - they'd had a water pipe freeze and bust while he was in the hospital. Luckily, a friend had noticed water running when temp warmed up & had turned the water off. No telling how long it had run, so their water bill may be high this next month. At least it was outside & not inside the trailer.
Al seemed to be doing better. Looks pretty good, considering. He wasn't coughing up blood any more at least. He's able to get around by himself, but didn't have the energy to go out and supervise the repairs. He spends most of his time in his recliner watching the TV. He can no longer talk above a whisper - or at least chooses not to. I didn't ask which. All feedings are through his stomach tube now. He will be back at the doctor tomorrow for an evaluation. Right now they are planning to resume chemo the next Monday. No decision yet on the radiation treatment.
Al is certainly lucky to have Tricia to help him, with her nursing background. The list of medicines is staggering. She has to give him several every 4 hours, and nearly all are through the stomach tube. Also she has to blend feedings for him often. While I was there, probably 4 hours in the afternoon, she was constantly doing something. When not actively mixing stuff for him, she was working on paper work required by the hospital and others. Both of them have a rough job right now.
I haven't heard from her today. Hoping she and Al are getting some rest. I'll post again after I hear from them.

"Mythbusters" proved that goldfish have long memories, and can be taught to run mazes for rewards.... and they remember the routine after several days off! IH can't even do that.
That's a great curse, Tami.

June... has anybody told you lately that you're wonderful? You help out others with so much of your own to worry about. I, too, an delighted about your friend and her fuzzy head. May it continue.

My mom says the curse backfired on me. My kids are much better than I was. My brother once asked for a DNA test to prove Mitchell was actually mine as he didn't think I could produce a kid that smart.

I just heard that one of my neighbors (a young man that works as George's assistant, and helps IH with his goats) slipped on the ice yesterday while going out to get the mail, and broke his leg in 3 places! When I saw him yesterday, he was limping badly, and on his way to the ER. We were hoping it was just a bad sprain,

Happy Valentines Day!!!
June, I love that 'use it for a long time' idea, think I'll try it. I'll leave out the mythbuster bit. She is avoiding me this morning, running in the other direction is she sees me.
I bet you are Glenn's hero right now.
Tami, did you thump your brother??
I don't think MizT will have time to come and read - she won't be getting any rest even if Al is. Wish there was something we could do!!

When you are with a special person, there is no need of a specific day to celebrate your love, every moment spend together transcends in to a celebration.

If hugs were water, I'd give you a sea. If kisses were leaves, I'd give you a tree. If love was time, I'd give you eternity but if love was a person, I'd send you me ♥

Hello all.
eaa, thank you for those.
Just heard the song Sweet Home Alabama and got me thinking of MizT. Sending hugs and more hugs.
I've only been up about an hour or so - had a 3 hour nap. This will be a hectic week coming up as my daughter has some medical appointments. For example on Friday she has one with the nurses and the anesthesiologist, minimum of four hours, and I get to have the grandies after school. Good thing I bought a bottle of Tylenol yesterday.
Happy Valentines Day to my down under friends.

Just going back to read.
Julie, hubby and I were wondering too if my daughter's MIL took this job on purpose. I know she had been looking for a part-time job for a while, but this one is most fortunate for us all. Sending special thoughts for your nephew.
June, ouch. Thinking of you and your "fuzzy" friend.
Hubby is gone to his parents. He left at 7:00 this morning as there was a lot to do. He will be so tired when he gets home tonight.
On to the next page.

My SIL was driving the kids to his mom's yesterday when he was stopped by the police. He had forgotten to renew his license. In Canada you need to renew your license before your birthday. Result, a $400+ fine and hubby had to take a taxi ($50) to the spot where my SIL was as the police would not let him drive the car. The cop did say that he can go to court and they will probably let him off as it was obviously an oversight (by two days). He had the girls in the car with him and they were both crying and screaming, terrified. Guess who had to pay everything and then some? I really wish we didn't need money to survive.
Julie, there are some things my daughter "has" to buy and there are other things she can borrow. For example I believe her wheelchair was borrowed from the Canadian Institute for the Blind at no charge. Her MIL bought her a chair for the bathtub with a special railing so that she can slide onto the chair from the side of the tub. My daughter bought a long handled shoe horn and elastic shoelaces so that she can get her shoes/boots on by herself. There are a few other things she still needs.

Heidi, it's +1C here, I could get used to this.
Have to get up extra early tomorrow. Hubby has to drive SIL to work tomorrow, then SIL's mom will drive him home. He works for a newspaper so he can't get the day off tomorrow to renew his license. The paper he works for has a deadline of Tuesday evening, so Mondays and Tuesdays are hectic.
Boy am I ever chatty today. See what a nap does to me? That plus the two cups of coffee I've had since the nap.

Theresa, that thing you use to clean between your toes is an essential according to Mum. Though a bent coathanger with a bit of wash cloth wrapped around the end would probably work.
Think I'd better get myself another cup of coffee!!

I'm sorry I haven't been here in weeks. Life has a way of throwing more at you that you want to take. Been going through a rough patch for the last several weeks and feeling that I don't want to talk about it. Strangely, I can go on FB - it's less personal.
And then, I come here (I have read a page or two here and there) today to find that Al's obviously not doing well at all - and my troubles fade by comparison. MizT - you're in my thoughts - big hugs to you and Al.

Cyn, my problems seem small compared to MizT's as well, but sometimes it just feels better to share them. If and when you're ready, we'll be here. Sometimes problems can just seem so overwhelming. Some days I seem to just shut down and go on automatic pilot without wanting to talk to anyone, so I too will go MIA for a while.
