PASS THE BISCUITS

When I was a kid, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage, and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my dad did was reach for his Biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school.

I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: "Honey, I love burned biscuits."

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your momma put in a long hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides... a burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!"

You know, life is full of imperfect things... and imperfect people. I'm not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like everyone else. What I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each others faults and choosing to celebrate each others differences, is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

So...please pass me a biscuit. And yes, the burned one will do just fine! And please pass this along to someone who has enriched your life... I just did!

Life is too short to wake up with regrets... Love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones who don't.

ENJOY LIFE NOW - IT HAS AN EXPIRATION DATE

Theresa, that is wonderful! I'm lucky, all my job adds are only available on the internet so I can't cancel it. Can I have your phone number too. Apparently there is a SIM card I can get for my mobile which will allow me to call overseas for pennies. I was going to look into it to call family, and I'd love to add you to the list...

Heidi, glad you got your heifers - shame about the bulls.

I don't know what is more disturbing - that a person can treat the courts with such contempt, or that the court allowed him to be physically manhandled to force him to comply with instructions..

Good morning all
Oh Theresa, we will miss you! But, like the others said, we understand why. Thanks to those who have offered to stay in touch. It will be nice to hear how things are going. All governments find loopholes for NOT helping people. It seems you either have to be super-rich to afford to pay for all your needs or super-poor to be allowed government assistance - which is meagre anyway. I'll get off that soapbox or I'll be on it all day - I cut out three paragraphs of ranting as it is.

Theresa, we are going to miss you this much { ) so hugs to you and your daughter. You are doing what Mothers do, sacraficing for your children and grands. I do hope you can find a computer at your library, each library here in states has computers for free use with a library card. Hope the same in Canada. Do send your number to the girls who can call. I am not sure if my cell charges extra for Canada or not, I will check into that to see if Canada is covered.

Heidi, sounds like you had a plan and worked that plan at the sale, you sure must have a good knowledge of the market prices, since you got the 2 you did for the amount you set as tops. I hope your new calves from these will turn out well. Were they breed to pure breed Red Angus ?

Gail, I am sure 2 tablespoons of curry sauce would be too much for me, I like the taste but not the fire. I use just the powder, and only tiny amounts of it. I would be joining your daughters crying over it being too hot. Such a wimp I am.

It is raining buckets out. My kitties want me to turn it off for them. One of them in under the coffee table, does not like sound of rain on the roof. the other one is curled up at my feet, thinks Mommy can protect her from the big bad noise hehehe.

Al is still nauseated. the new med prescribed for him was not available at pharmacy. they think they can sub for another brand, dissolving tablets instead of dissolving film, and it is not too expensive. He was given samples, so he has enough to try tomorrow before we buy. Have kept the nausea down today, but current med makes him so very sleepy. this new one not supposed to do that, hope it will work. It is intended for nausea post op or for chemo and radiation induced nausea.

Theresa, know all about the rules and regulations for govenrment assistance, Noone can understand why we cannot get government help for Al's cancer treatment, we fall through all the cracks, literally make $30 to much a month to qualify for one of them. Gee, how much medicine can I buy for him, how many doctor bills can I pay for him with that $30??

Suzy, I am thinking that when a person treats the courts with such disrespect, they are forced to use the measures they did to make him comply. It is like all rules and laws, disobeying them has consequences. If they were not enforced, then soon no one would follow them.

Suzy.... that former US Marine should be grateful that Australia does not have Capitol Punishment, instead of showing such disrespect in court. If this was the US, he'd be facing the death penalty. To me, his behavior is proof that he has no respect for laws, and is an admission of guilt.

Greetings to everyone!

Theresa, you will be missed while you are away! We all understand the circumstances and the sacrifices you and hubby have made. I hope you know that we will be thinking of you each day and sending , good wishes, positive thoughts, prayers and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you! I hope your D's recovery will go well and the physical therapy helps a lot! Of course, it will be hard work for her, but it will pay off when she can again play with her girls and go upstairs to sleep in a bed! I hope you will stay in touch as you can! Hang in there, Sweetie!

Had a few things to do, but now I'm back to read.

Hi, Suzy, Broni, MizTricia, June, Gail, Brenda, Heidi, Tami and Theresa!

MIzTricia, so glad the end is in sight for this round for Al! I'm sure he's also glad! Hope he's been letting you keep tabs on his nutrition intake! What a relief that Joy didn't have MRSA! Hopefully her round of antibiotic did the trick of knocking out the infection! MizT, it's funny that you thought I was an hour ahead of you - because I thought you were an hour ahead of me. Now maybe we can remember that we are both in the Central time zone. (I think Heidi, Tami and Theresa are in the Eastern time zone.)

June, I'm glad you were able to get in some "practice" for bowls, even if your team didn't win. You said you felt that you played well, and that's what counts. Congrats on another raffle win!

Next time I'm in the grocery store, I will look for the curry paste. However, that will probably not be for a couple of weeks. We have a lot to be done in the next weeks, and I can't even guarantee I'll have much time for computer. Broni, thank you for the recipe, which I will put at the top of recipes for when I can concentrate on that. Thanks, Tami, Heidi and others for suggestions as to where I might find the curry paste. (Heidi, WalMart????) Just shows that hubby and I are in a rut and I haven't been down the "Asian Aisle" in the store in quite some time. When I make the Thai Chillie, I think I'll go easy at first on the curry paste, until I find out how hubby and I react. (If steam comes out of our ears, I'll know to cut back a little on the amount.)

Heidi, congrats on your two new heifers! Do you know who the sires are? Will they be related to your bulls - or introducing a new family line to your herd? It's good that they will calve in fall. You're hoping to change all of your calving operation to fall, aren't you? I'm surprised that the bulls didn't get good prices. In some ways, aren't they the heart - or at least the future - of the herd, as they provide half of the genes for calves for years to come.

Tami, I'm sorry that the baseball game got cancelled, but glad that you got your shopping done!

I have the full pedigrees on the new heifers. They are only distantly related to my other stock, tho' they're from different sellers. The two of them look so much alike that I can't tell them apart except for ear tag numbers. Their breeders both recommended breeding them to my older bull Rede. They both know him and admire him.

Reading page 588 now: Hi, Theresa, Broni, Suzy, Gail, CynB, MizTricia and Heidi!

Wonderful TOPP, Theresa!

Followed your link, Suzy! It's an insult to the US Marines that this person is even associated with them. I wonder if he was honorably discharged. Since he has so much contempt and lack of respect for the court, each refusal to comply could be met with an additional charge. He would then need to go on trial for all charges ultimately increasing a verdict against him, I would think.

MizT, I hope the anti-nausea med will improve how Al is feeling! Thinking of him and you and hoping neither of you will need to go through this for another round.

Tricia and Theresa, it's puzzling how people are expected to afford their treatments without adequate income and with no governmental assistance. Thinking of both of you as your struggles continue.

I'm about to turn into a pumpkin - and have another morning water aerobics class, so I think I should call it a night. Thinking of all of you and sending positive thoughts and prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}}! Take care! Good Night!

I just had a near-heart attack. Around 6pm, IH called me and told me that he wouldn't be home until mid day tomorrow. A few minutes ago, at a quarter to 2 am, he walked in the door. He's lucky that I didn't shoot first.

Morning all. Daughter called my number by accident at around 3:15 AM and I haven't been able to get back to sleep. She sleeps downstairs on the couch and calls her hubby on his cell phone when she needs to go to the bathroom - she called me by mistake. Maybe a nap will be in order later ???

Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and your messages to me. I hope to get back to you later today.

It is snowing and blowing out there. The visibility is poor - I can barely see across the street. We are also expecting freezing rain. I hope hubby decides to stay home instead of going to his parents.

Time to get a coffee and do some more reading.

Ken's on his way to Singapore. I could have gone as well if I was not committed to these pennant Bowls games and we could have come home Friday! I have not spent any time in Singapore. Just a two hour bust tour when we had a 6 hour wait to change planes.
I asked Glenn's daughter to dinner as she is a vegetarian so easier when Ken is away. I made a vegetarian lasagna.
Heidi, Pleased you did not shoot IH. We would not want to see you in jail.

Just had a new bull calf born!!! Mama went for the record in short labors. From the time I saw the first discharge to the calf being on the ground was only 10 minutes!
The 2 new heifers are fitting in. One is enchanted with the calves and romps and plays with them. The other one is hanging out in the shed with a few of the expectant mothers. They still haven't gotten used to my routine of walking among the herd doing checks , and it's spooking them a little.

We had a fair bit of snow dumped on us. Hubby did go to his parents because the ice rain did not materialize (thank goodness). I am listening to old tunes, playing on the pooter, swearing, swearing and then swearing some more (in every sense of the word).

Remember: A good man doesn't just happen. They have to be created by us women ... So, first you've got to get rid of all the stuff his mom did to him. And then you've got to get rid of all that macho stuff they pick up in beer commercials.
