GOOD NIGHT, all. Off to watch a movie, then to bed. It's Sun Valley Serenade starring John Payne, Sonja Henie, Milton Berle and Glenn Miller (plus orchestra).

SUZY, I had NOt read your post fore writing about Heidi chasing gil with her lug wrench hehehe. Great minds, eh?
Julie, thanks for the moon 8nformation. that is about as close as I will get to the moon tonight, we are rain cloud covered. not a hint of anything celestial showing through, if you dared to look UP that is hehehe.
I had not associated my sparkly heart with my name with valentines day till it was mentioned here. Neat, I was ahead of the season. I should go and change to one of my REAL valentines avatars, I have several.
Nola, giving that first injection to someone is the hardest one. Your first injection ever? Did you practice on an orange? They told us shooting an orange gave the nurse much the same " feel" as sticking skin, and it was very true. We had to practice on EACH OTHER, all the nursing students.
Heidi, I saw how much snow the radar was showing for your area, boy a LOT! If that low pressure sitting just south of us here in Bama was any further south, we could be getting snow instead of a cold cold rain here too! Only about a 70-100 mile distance seperates us from where snow fell today. would you believe, tonight temps are RISING here? Gulf air comming north. Tomorrow wind will change and temps will ge COLDER all day, strange, huh?
Congrats on getting to 500 pages on the old site. I guess I forgot to ask for it to be closed. S9ince it was entertaining to some trying for 500, glad I did not close it hehehe.
Just because of such " mises" with the forecast as you had, I had hubby pick up some more kerosene, just in case. OH, they did not work on my floors any more today. Only one small area still to be repaired. Sawing needed to be set up outside, and it was raining outside. I also thought it would be a bit cold to have floors ripped out and with the wind, house would have been bur-r-r-shie. I could have stayed in bedtroom with doors colosed and electric heaters, but still could. they have rescheduled doing the rest till after they finish the shop work. Our materials were delivered this morning, before the rains. time for them to cut lumber ( timbers) again/
OK, bed for me for real now, hand is less hurty. Let me get to sleep fore this wears off. I do hate " wasting" the nor hurt times in sleeping, but do need the sleep.

Egads, away for a few hours and you lot talk up a storm!
Haven't read the last three pages yet, just dropping in to say hi. Shopping's all done, not a huge one because it's the end of the month and we're broke! Went through the meat in the freezer last night so we have devised a menu around what we already have. Not buying meat cuts down the bill a lot.

Hi , like Gail I do not have time to read. Hubby said he was taking the laptop to Egypt so I went and added to some money I got for Christmas and Birthday and bought a small 10 inch notebook to take instead. The old one is heavy to carry. This also has a webcam so I will be able to keep in contact with the family. I will get Sharon (our expert) to load it up for me.
With a bit of luck I might even post a message to SA9a

Wow - what a game! Justine Henin was brilliant, but Serena got her groove back in the third set. I don't usually watch tennis, or any sport, but hubby has become addicted since he started Wiiing.
June, those things look great for keeping in touch over the internet.
Hi and goodnight to everyone!

June I use a netbook all the time. If I need to take it with me I carry it in my handbag (it is a big handbag). The one downside with them is that you need to have external disk drives to load programmes.

Good morning friends!
Is Heidi buried in snow this morning? Maybe she's digging out...not a peep so far!
June - how exciting that we will hear from you while you are traveling.
MzT - so exciting reading about your construction work...it is a pain in the winter, however. We've been dodging the wet weather here...siding is off the older part of the house and there is just the old tar paper at this point. You can imagine how lovely THAT looks!

I had one of those liquid thermometers up on top of the TV in the livingroom. Well my WH knocked the thing over and it broke in all over the wall, carpet and down the floor heater vent in my new master bedroom (which is serving as our living room for the time being). The liquid is some sort of petroleum distillate. It smells like kerosene or cleaning fluid and is down the heating vent. We are trying to air out the room, but it's going to take some time to dissapate. I KNEW it was a bad idea to have that darn thing up high like that!

Sympathy Vici, I have broken two of those things. Though I didn't notice a kerosene type smell. Hope it doesn't cause too many problems in the heating vents.

Vici... just think.... it could be worse. MUCH worse.
When we were moving from New Jersey to here, we had a complication selling our house. One of our cats peed all over the electric burners on the stove. Do you have any idea how hard it is to remove THAT smell, short of replacing the entire stove?

Oh my GOD, Heidi...that is much worse. I can't stand the smell of kitty pee...and to mix that in with the kitchen cooktop - EWWWWWW! How did you get the smell out?
Brenda - my folks bought me this one a number of years ago. Being as they buy things on "the cheap" this one had more toxic fluid than the fancier ones. It took me a while to find the substance through ask.com - at least it's not too toxic!

Vici... I remember scrubbing the stovetop repeatedly, using everything I'd ever heard of to remove bad odors. I also replaced the burners. But a slight odor remained. I had to replace the stove to sell the house.

Those darn cats! They can be vindictive...I'm being punished by Panda right now for disciplining her a couple of days ago. I should know better. She won't sleep with me...has been out in the living room for 3 nights. But with company coming, she'll forget and go back to her routine.

I think Opus figured out that his life was being uprooted. He was a very sweet cat with a strong vengeful streak... sort of a Jeckle and Hyde personality. Everybody at the Vet clinic was terrified of him. When I took him in to have his Tomcat parts removed, I warned them to handle him with thick gloves once he saw a needle. I even left the heavy duty gloves for them to use. They didn't believe me. The technician went to take him out of his cage to sedate him. He was rubbing against her, purring, so she thought he was sweet and tried to give him a shot. He attacked. Picture the scene.... the technician being attacked by a tiny tiger with a temper, and 2 Vets, backed against the wall, cowering. They finally did subdue him and do the operation. The technician was hospitalized. He was a wonderful pet, unless he saw a needle. Then he lost it.

Good Afternoon, SA9A!
Warming greetings to those who may be too cold - Heidi, MizTricia, Brenda, V Vici and any others in the northern hemisphere!
Cooling greetings to those who may be too warm - Gail, June, V Viv, Broni, Suzy, and any others in the southern hemisphere!
MizT, I'm glad your hand was finally feeling a bit better and that you didn't need to have floor torn up with the cold wind blowing through your house! Hopefully, they can find a milder day! Were you able to keep the snow away from you?
Gail, will you be posting your (relatively) meat-free menu for the fortnight? Do you have some soup-and-sandwich kind of meals?
June, what a great idea to get a notebook, rather than a heavy laptop for your Egypt trip! We look forward to an update or 2, if you can get on the internet.
V Viv, Broni and Suzy, I hope you're all having a good sleep. We look forward to your smiling faces/avatars when you're able to get caught up! Suzy, I hope you enjoyed your quieter day!
V Vici, I didn't realize the siding had been taken off the older portion of the house. Are you planning to replace or tear down or reconfigure or add on? I'm SOO sorry to hear about the broken liquid thermometer. Hopefully it didn't stain the new paint or carpet! Did you have any luck removing the odor?
Heidi, your story of Opus, the vindictive kitty, sent shivers down my spine. First of all, the thought of kitty pee mixed with kitchen stove - then a psycho cat when he saw a needle. Wow, and this was BEFORE you moved to Surreal Farm? Do you still have Opus?

Morning all!
Cats and thermometers making smells and sending technicians to hospital - a stinky morning!
Vici, I hope you can get some sleep with the fumes around and don't wake up with a headache.
MizT, I wouldn't have had the last part of the floor fixed in yesterday's weather either!

Julie, sure I'll post it. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of meat...you should see my freezers! I buy meat in bulk but forget what I have in there from one fortnight to the next, so buy more etc etc.
Heidi, very funny story about your cat with a needle phobia. Scrap was a bit the same about the whole vet thingy, which was a pain, seeing as he was being taken at least once a month for his injection. This cat would look like he was on death's door each time just before he was due, it was more than he could do to walk around the place. If he saw the carry box before I had a chance to lock him in the house though, he would shoot off under the house like a cheetah on speed!

Hiya Dag, how are you?
Some great smelly stories!
Off to Possum's boat this morning, then back to my boat to fix the toilet and the fuel filters. Have not heard back from the broker about the people who looked at my boat yesterday.
Hope you all have a great day/night.

Julie.... Opus passed away 15 years ago, at the age of 10. He died in a fight with some other predator.... I found him in the woods - upright on his back feet- front paws up with claws extended - teeth bared - and completely dead. I couldn't find a scratch on him. Maybe he was trying to fight off Death. "You come near me and I'll take you out, too."

My friend was here for her birthday last night. I nearly cried when I saw the area where they had been doing the radiation therapy. She is very bright and will be driving us to the airport on Wednesday. She also downloaded all the information we needed onto the notebook. There is free wireless connection at our hotel in Cairo but I have not checked any of the other hotels yet.
The smelly microwave was left with some vanilla in it. Smells better but I have not tried it out yet. Maybe you can try some vanilla Vici!

checking in to say good night Sudokuland. Hope to morrow is warmer and sunnier, thanks for the warm wishes, I could not get warm enough today, until we went shopping. Stores were all super warm it seemed.
Hubby bought new toys, he got a new TV and got it installed. It required modifying the book case where old TV sat, he did an excellent job building a new shelf! NOW the rest of the shelves needs repainting, but that is a job for another day.
Good night all.
