I actually wake up about 6 or 7am most days, if I have slept well, at least. It is nice and cool early mornings, when I can get my krow done.

Hi all,Quickly read through the posts. Thinking of you all and not much time to comment.
Picked up a girl from daycare yesterday and had her till late today. She is growing up. Insisted that she make pancakes for lunch. She did break the egg into the bowl, whisked the mixture, poured it into the pan, turned them (with help). She did eat one and a half.(She will be 4 next August)
Suzy, hope you get rid of that cold soon!
Thanks for the greeting CynB. I am easy to miss as I have not been about as much lately.

June, you are a wonderful nanna.
What is your title to your grandies?
My mum was Nana, and my three sisters who have them are also Nana, and I will be Nana as well.
NOT FOR A FEW YEARS YET!
Sorry to yell, just had to make sure all the kids heard that, no surprises needed at this time!
In fact, speaking of my kids, both their grandmothers had the same title, but they managed just fine, one was Nana Mollie, and the other was Nana Joy.

ha ha...our family was SOoooooooooo formal... one grandmother was nana Somer [she was the pretentious one that thought she was superior to everyone except the Queen...she did not find me very acceptable because I wouldn't be all mealy mouth and sweet...I was a tomboy and wasn't going to change for her or anyone else...I used to run and hide and refused to speak to her] She used to berate my mother for NOT doing 'something about me...'
I think my other grandmother was known by her surname just as a matter of course...it always seemed a bit funny to me to tack their surname on after after 'Nana'

Afternoon all.
I had a Gran and a Grandma, only ever had one grandfather and he was Granddad.
My kids only had my parents and they were grandma and granddad, until I married Richard when they gained another grandmother who went by Nana Dot, sadly they no longer have any grandparents now.

No, neither do my kids in a way Brenda. They do still have Bill, who is 'Bill' to all of my sibling's kids, even though he is more of a grandfather to all of them than Mum's first hubby, who was known as Pop.
Their other gf, my hubby's father, was Papa.
My only grandparent alive in my life was my maternal GF. He was Pompom, don't ask me why, I have no clue! I was one of the youngest grandies. I loved the name because there was no other Pompom in the world.

SA8ers! Just got my first cuppa coffee, Darrell still in bed. He got home after 1 a.m. (his usual time). We have to go to Lowe's Hardware in SLC this morning so he can finish the work in the backyard. Sprinkler lines are in, trenches buried, he wants to put in a dog run and grass/sod...Only took us 5 years in this house to get this stuff done!!!

MizT: you and I wake up about the same time in the morning. I can't sleep past 7:45 unless I don't feel well. I am grateful that I am hardly ever sick...Last time I had the flu was 1994!! I do have sinus issues and hypoglycemia, but normally, I feel pretty good. Hey! Not bad for someone who is going to be 48 in a few months!!

Regarding the grandparents, my mom's mom was Gram, her dad was Didi (short for Isidore), my dad's dad was PopPop. He called me Blondie as a child...When Darrell & I were in Florida years ago, my dad called me Blondie...they've all passed on and I miss them terribly. I think they would have approved of Darrell.

About Nana Names.
I had a Nanoo (way before Mork and Mindy) and a Nandaddy, plus a Mawmaw. My other grandfather died with Mom was only 14 years old, so never knew him.
My children had 2 Memaws, They were just Memaw usually, but if we needed clarification, they were Memaw Edna and Memaw Tina. They had only one Grandaddy, until I married Al and his parents were Mawmaw and Pawpaw
I am Grammie to my grandchildren and Al is Grampy.

I had another bad night.
I was forbidden to use first names with adults, so all grandparents were called by their last names... Grandma Brill, etc. Nothing affectionate was allowed, like Nana, either. Not the fault of my grandparents.... my mother and stepfather's rules.

Very interesting names Tricia! I only had one grandparent, my mother's mother, and we called her "Gran." Hubby had all of his grandparents and they were called Grandma/Grandpa with their last name(like you Heidi). My mom likes to be called "Granma" without the "d" and Jerry's parents follow their family tradition of using the last name with "Grandma/Grandpa." My sister's oldest grandson calls her "mom" because he grew up in her house, but the rest call her "grandma." Although, I think my great-niece Safara might also have another name for her since her dad speaks spanish.

Stella, my older cousin gets credit for Nanoo and Nandaddy, she named them, being the first grandchild. I was second and followed her nomenclature. As my Mom was the youngest of 6 children and was "raised with the grandchildren" her oldest sibling being married and having 2 children fore she was born, her Mom was already named also.
My oldest daughter named her grandparents, and again, those names stuck. I guess this is what the first grandchild does.

OH, it would have been totally impossible for my young girls to ever call their paternal grandmother by her last name, Fortenberry. Heck, I could not even get that right most of the time! Luckily, she had married a second time and this was not MY last name hehehe.
We did not call an adult by their first name without some title in front of it. Aunt, Uncle, Memaw, Miz or Mr, Pappa, Mamma. I remember Pappa Bill was a retired man who loved children, kept foster children, and he and his wife were Mamma bill and Poppa Bill to the foster children and neighborhood children who played there alike.
My children loved our neighbor and her children and played there often, and she was Aunt Vicky.
I got my screen name when I moved to the country here. Children called hubby Mr Al and I was Miz Tricia, and yes, with the Z sound, not Miss or Mrs.

Good morning everyone.
Interesting names for relatives.I am Grandma, because I wanted to be the same as my Mum was.Greg is Pop.Our eldest grandchild was told that Greg's father was Pops Pop..hence like Suzanne,he became PopPop.I had a Nanny Ring and a Nanny Long, easy then to distinguish.

I'm not sure what it is, Nola. The back is acting up a lot ( epidural pain block in 7 days) but that's not what's keeping me from sleeping. I'll probably take something to help me sleep tonight, just to jump start my body back in a daylight schedule.

We are Grandma and Pa. My parents were Nanna and Pa and others were Grandma and Pop. I loved my Nanna(grew up in the same house)and I felt the name belonged to her and wanted something different.
Gail I was already in my sixties before I became a grandparent. I hope you do not have to wait that long!

Morning all.
No exclamation point today as I don't feel like being up.
I had Nana's, followed by their last name only if they weren't there. I also had Pampa (Grandpa in baby talk and it stuck) and Poppy Peter. There was also Pop, but he was only Pop to his face, otherwise he was Alec, though he called himself Roy. Work that one out! Hubby's Dad was Grandad to our kids, Mum's partner was Pop. I'm not sure what I want to be, but if I am Nanna it will have two nnnnnnns because of all the trouble Ebob has had.

Hi there June and Heidi.I was doing the puzzles until someone turned up.
Hope it isn't worry or stress keeping you awake Heidi. It does for me.
Renae has had awful neck probs for months now, tried acupuncture, xrays and finally saw a neurologist who ruled out anything physical. They now thing it is stress from her pregnancy, the girls being in hospital for 3 months and moving.
Anyway, you might just need that holiday and epidural to be back to a normal sleep pattern.
