this talk about grandparents has made me think about our newest 'grand person' in our midst...and how she is enjoying all the cuddles in Dubai... and more to the point whether she ever managed to close the lid on the overflowing presents...

Good afternoon lovely SA8 people - after the morning from h#ll, I'm happy to be home.
MizT - Have a lovely 2 day birthday, have left a message on your page.
Suzanne, that recipe sounded great.
Bean - we bought a great toilet from Bunnings, believe it or not.
Heidi - good news about Lady.

Grandparents names - both my grandmothers were Granny followed by their surnames if needed ti identify them, one Grandad and one Papa (oldest cousin named him, as often happens).
I am Nanny and Colin is Poppy. When Lachlan (oldest grandie) was learning to talk he used to call Col 'Pocky' and one of the girls called him 'Boppy' - fortunately they've both got it right since. My daughter's children call their other Grandfather 'Big Daddy' (his choice).

I'll tell you about my day because I need to vent.
I was sitting here reading the paper at about 7.30 when hubby called - he'd locked his keys in his car and could I bring the spare over to him (half an hours drive). I had my shower and was on my way for 5 minutes when he rang again - could I go back and pick up the weed killer and the spray pack. So I U-turned, back home, disappointed the dog when I flew into the garage and promptly took off again (if looks could kill). Finally found him then decided I would call in to see Mum as I was passing near her but as I got there it was blocked off because the hospital next door has a gas leak. (Mum is OK, I've checked). So I went shopping, first to Crazy Clarks (cheap discount store) and forgot my environmentally friendly green bags - had to take a plastic bag which, you guessed it, split and dropped the contents all over the floor of Kmart. OK, fixed that, bought a cup of coffee, spilt that on myself. Decided to go home and nearly got side-swiped by a driver who wanted to use both lanes - how she missed me I don't know.
Should I just go back to bed and try again????

Cyn, all very stressful but now you are home, we are happy to have you 'let vent' to us, now just relax and enjoy the rest of the day.
Good news re; Lady , Heidi. That will be one less problem for you.
Bean, go and sit on the toilets before you buy one. It is something that MUST be comfortable.I say that with a smile but I found quite a few had different shaped seats.

June your advice made me smile...in fact it made me laugh out loud! At the moment I looking at pans...once I have decided on that I will 'test' the seats that fit it.
I am tossing up between a skew pan because I want to move the toilet and would like to avoid having to cut through a THICK cement slab and I want to position the toilet on an internal wall. I can't even use the wall cavity because ours is a solid brick house.
My other option is to get a toilet with a concealed cistern and incorporate that in the vanity cabinet... trying to work out the most economical option. Most of those toilets [except for wall hung] seem to have an S trap which doesn't get us around the floor problem. Need a P trap into the cabinetry and to skew it to the left from within the cabinet...does sound sound too difficult???

Now to answer the queries re my wandering loo... it was a Dodgy Brothers installation. One of the screws holding the cistern on the wall has come out and the pan wasn't bedded onto the floor...just placed right over the lino...there is one bolt still there ...don't know if there was ever another one. Heidi it is a P trap so we just have to worry about it walking forward ... part of my regular chores is to give it a good shove to make sure the pipes don't dome apart...aftermath of the drought with shrinking clay soils has resulted in the outlet to the handbasin being pulled out of its connector as well... thanks heavens for icecream containers... catch all the drips and leaks!

BEAN, sounds like what you want will be hard to find and expensive, at least it woule be here in the states. Hope you have more luck there. Here, our toilets are not attached to the wall at all. the cistern, we call it a tank, is just mounted on the seat, we call it the bowl. The bowl is attached to the pipe and floor with 2 bolts. The cistern is put in close proximity to the wall, but usually not touching it. And I have not seen a toilet that does not have a floor drain, but I have never looked for one either. All this to say, I hope you find what you need and get it installed sooner rather than later.

HEIDI, Happy for Lady to be returning to her own home and her owner. That is good news for you and Lady both. I think the 2 hour investment in time will be a small price to pay.

CYN, not a great start to your day, I do hope it improved considerably. Glad the gas leak did not affect yur Mom and she was OK.

Suzanne, Reminder: Post that recipe hehehe

Have a safe trip STELLA. I hate driving in the rain and avoid it when I can.

No rain in sight for us, just higher than usual temps plus higher than usual humidity. Both are apt to cause t storms, but none forecast for today.

BEAN, I had to be dramatic, and put a bit of a scare into our friend GAIL. Could not resist.

Safe Trip to HEIDI and LADY today. I hope this will be one less problem for you. How is Dennis doing? What happened with him while you were at doctors other day, and a storm was expected. Did he trash is crate? or sleep soundly whhile you were away.

BEAN, will look at your links later, thank you, always interested in things different. At the moment I must dry my hair, jump into " going out" clothes, and not my faded, comfy stay at home ones, and get ready to leave whenever hubby gets ready.

I am working my way slowly through the birthday greetings, posting return messages. If you have not got one yet, it will come later. For some reason, I started at last received, instead of first received. I will get to them all, but till than, thank you everyone, I have enjoyed all my messages, cards and phone calls. You are a good bunch of friends.

Hello everyone. We got back from Fort Steele yesterday but wind and thunder made me reconsider using the pooter. The kids had a great time. We spent Monday at the town itself, walking around and checking out the old buildings. The girls seemed to enjoy that. Tuesday morning we went to Cranbrook and visited the train museum. Did their longest tour of the old trains. That was interesting. They are still working on restoration but need to construct a building to finish the outsides of them. After lunch we visited a fish hatchery. The girls had fun feeding and petting the trout. Yes, I said petting. Then they got to hold a turtle, that was a hit. Then we got a private tour of the tank building from the wonderful girl working there.
It was a great trip and I think we even managed to learn a little bit. Don't tell the girls.
