I'm going to venture to your page now, Mama. I have been there repeatedly, but would like to honor Sully's memory again.

Morning all!
Mum has just left, at least for 2 weeks. Hubby is still home.
Mamacita, your tribute to Sully is beautiful! I love it.

MizT, I checked and the winds around Gail had literally 'feels like' freezing temperatures! She wasn't exaggerating! This is a link to the closest station to her... at least I'm pretty sure it is the closest.

It got very windy overnight here, but nothing like Melbourne area. I will have to rewash some clothes that I had forgotten to take off the line and that seems to be the extent of our 'damage'.
Will have to try to call my BIL again today. 2 July is his bypass surgery. I'd like to talk to hime before he goes in.

Good morning everyone.
If you have any to spare, I would love to feel some hugs today. It is Mum's birthday and it is rough.
Yesterday was a particularly bad day, and in the afternoon I got a phone call from my sis in Cairns. We said hi then she asked me how I was and I told her I was having a bad day, and she burst into tears. She had been having the same day and didn't know who to ring. We talked and cried for a while, and then in true family style, we finished the phone call in fits of laughter!

Big hugs for everyone who needs them. Luckily I have not had any serious issues but when I had a minor one, my friends here definitely make me feel better. Knowing you have good friends to talk to really does help.

Suzanne - I know the feeling. I am dark blonde now thanks to my hairdresser, underneath I am almost completely grey but was originally a brunette. How I would love to still be a brunette but I would have to have the roots done every 3 weeks.l One day I will bite the bullet and just go grey and put up with it.

Hugs Hugs and HUGE HUGS for Gail. I am glad you and your sister were able to be with each other by phone and share.
Gail, would it help you if you planned something special for your Mom's birthday? Something to remember her by, with the more pleasant memories? Sometimes we think we can just forget, and it will go on past without our notice, but that does not happen, especially the first few years. So fore it sneaks up on you and bites you on the bum, make plans, do something special. I find that helps me more than anything else I have tried.

MizT - there is a certain amount of home care available provided to people like my MIL. She does get home help in fortnightly to do the cleaning and if necessary nurses will come occasionally but round the clock care is not readily available in their situation.
My in-laws are assets rich but cash poor due to my FIL (Col's stepfather) owning a large and valuable property which he cannot sell yet due to the archaic terms of his father's will which allows for his spinster sister (87 yo) to live there for life. The Govt does not take this into consideration and hence they are not able to draw a pension. What money they did have has been decimated by the financial crisis so they are still having to watch every cent they spend. I might add that the sister is aware of their predicament and will not budge. It's a horrible situation.

Loved your link Suzy...I can stop hurling things at Tricia for knocking our 'freezing'! It is the wind chill that is the problem.
Today is again very windy... great washing day...one lot is out... should go wash the doona that is stuffed in the washing basket leaving no room for dirty clothes.

Cyn I really feel for you...I am so glad that that era is almost past us. There is a lot to be said for dying young like my father. We have yet to find a caring facility for my mum. She turns 90 in January and I hope I will have found something that pleases us all.

Afternoon all!
Just been and done a gail. It was loverly too.
Speaking of older people.... my great aunt has recently had a heart attack and a stroke. She is 97. Before this happened it could take an hour for my cousin (in her late 60's) to get her back into the house after a trip to the doc. The physios in hospital told my great aunt that she couldn't go home until she could (long list of stuff here). Let's just say that she is home from the hospital and got up the stairs to the house faster than my cousin could! Another cousin told her that she couldn't go home unless she got meals on wheels. No way! said aunty. Then no home! said cousin. So meals on wheels are organised and my aunt is home - living alone - again.

This lady gave me a long talking to at christmas. The gist of it is 'you come first, look after yourself'. And that is the way she has lived her life. My aunty has many admirable qualities, but I personally don't find that one of them.

That's helped her make it to 97 with her marble intact, but I wouldn't want to live that way either. She actually sounds like a male.
