Hi all.
Sounds like you are having a wonderful adventure Rolanda, its a shame it will have to end so soon.
Bean,Gail or Judy..is the grape an eating or wine grape?
When we built our 1st home in Reynella Adelaide,it was once a vineyard and vines kept coming up in lots of places in the yard.I nurtured one until we tried the grapes...yuk,so bitter because it was a wine grape.Couldn't kill the darn thing.
We had an enjoyable afternoon for Renaes birthday.
Gregs 2 brothers are on the return trip back to Taree and are staying here the night.
Every year we have to do CPR (First Aide) and the latex mask has given me a purple mouth. Not a good look.
I have rambled long enough and am now going to play some games.See you tomorrow.

Gail that would be a sight to be seen too!
Last night I found out who the culprit was who was stealing my strawberries. I thought the birds were getting them, but I caught Callie in the act of pulling a ripe strawberry off the plant and eating it. Fortunately the birds had already hada peck at that one so she wasn't in too much trouble.
Callie loves fruit,Indi doesn't, but she will eat the green top from the strawberry... strange dog.

A bit sore today from all the painting yesterday. Not so much the actually painting, I think it was the straining to balance myself on the high ladder and trying not to fall off while holding the gallon paint can and brush!

Have skimmed through the posts and I am thinking of you all.
I have Laura tonight and tomorrow we are going to the other daughter's place to do some guttering repairs, sewing and other jobs. School holidays so she will be home. We will have Laura with us so I guess some horse riding is in order. We will be back Friday night.
A very Happy Birthday to both Vici and Renae.

BEAN, I was going to suggest that perhaps the reason for visit to Daqing was where her China Relative lived! I had my thinking cap on when I read that, it seems hehehe. and that sentence is clumsy but will have to do.
ROLANDA, good to see you popping in yourself. Enjoy the last couple days of your trip!
GAIL, am I right in my recollection that a grape vine will not produce as much fruit if left un-pruned? (spell check says that is not a word, but I like it)
BRENDA, of course I remember Lucy stomping grapes in that huge vat, classic Lucille Ball comedy.

You are asking the wrong person MizT. I am just the general dogsbody, Bean is the knower of all things horticultural. She tells me what to do, and I do it!
But it does sound feasible.
Bean loves this area as a place to sit with a coffee or vino, and it all needed a good neatening up. I can't wait to see the vine next autumn, the display must be a sight to behold because the leaves turn the deepest plum/burgundy colour (I am not very good with colour names, sorry!) For Bean, I think the fruit is not really the focus of the exercise.

YUCK my coffee machine has malfunctioned, there are coffee grounds in my morning cup! I am off to find my tea strainer, and get rid of those pesky things.

Did anyone read of the earthquake in Tassie? Need a bit of help with geography, is eaa anywhere near? Not huge, no injuries reported and the tsunami was only 8 inches high, that is all good! Even the idea of Earthquakes scare me, I am accustomed to the earth being stable under my feet!

Yes MizT, I did hear a couple of things while chatting with friends on the net.
eaa is in Tasmania, but I am not sure where.
I heard the east coast of Aus was alerted due to an undersea earthquake, and that a low lying island had been evacuated as a precaution. Parts of New Zealand have been affected too, but nothing serious has been reported.

SA8ers! I had a lousy night's sleep last night...brain wouldn't shut down, was going 90 mph!!!
Read about the earthquake in NZ on the internet this morning, said it was anywhere between a 6.6 & an 8.2!! THAT is not a mild earthquake! The one in California in 1994 was a 6.8 and did LOTS of damage, lots of folks killed, etc...There were also tsunami warnings, said they were cancelled later.
to Vici & anyone else this week!! Enjoy your special day!!!
We leave for Washington on 7/23...looking forward to the trip. Darrell is not looking forward to the drive tho. I wish I drove, I could help out...

Brenda: You had asked about the real estate market here in Utah...It's about the same as everywhere else, very slow...We hope to put the house on the market by the beginning of the year. (once we get the backyard finished)...The Army Depot where Darrell works will be closing within the next 3 years. We'd like to have the house sold before the market here gets flooded with EVERYONE selling at the same time.

Uh oh..... I hadn't heard about the earthquake. Scary things when they're that big. I hope everyone on Tassie is OK.

The eggs from my finches didn't hatch. I just took them out of the nest box to examine them.... and they were all infertile.

Heidi: Good morning! Sorry to hear about the finches!! I had my fingers crossed this time! Good luck with the t-storms!! We've got the a/c on already this morning. I cleaned the kitchen floor and had all the windows open. Our backyard is just dirt right now. We're going to get topsoil & sod when we get back from Washington. I don't want the dirt to blow in the house after cleaning the floor, I would just have to do it again (especially with the way the winds blow out here). Hopefully, everyone is ok in Tassie, keep me posted if you hear anything, ok? Have a great day!!

HEIDI, I will take some of your train if there is some cool to go with. One of my window AC units is making a BIG noise, and hubby said TURN IT OFF. then he left for a doctors appointment. I hope he is back soon to check it out, MIGHT be needing oiling, he is not sure. I have closed off the bedroom, and it is HOT HOT in here!

OK, I am out of here. Since my computer is in the bedroom, I cannot stay here long at a time. Be back when it cools down.
